hi all, im curious if this can be done. is there any way to enable RAW image capturing on the thunderbolt? i know the files would be huge but seriously, we have 40gb of space, it wouldnt be a big deal. i vaguely remember reading something about gingerbread and up being compatible with raw formats, so i dont think its impossible. any ideas? could this be as simple as editing a build.prop?
Thread moved to q&a.
ok. anyone have any ideas?

Hi guys! I'm new here. I've tried the upgrade posted here for my xdaII to xdaIIs with the WM2003 SE. Unfortunately, the camera zoom capability has been lost. I've searched for solutions in the threads but, can't find one. Or maybe just haven't seen it. Can anyone help me with this please?
Thanks in advance!
Additional info:
The zoom works in VIDEO mode but for PHOTO mode it doesn't...
What picture size do you have set up for the camera? If it's the largest selectable one then you won't be able to zoom...when you try and zoom does it make a noise or does it do nothing?
Cheers
Anthony
Thanks for the reply... I just realized checking the size because you asked about it. It was indeed on the "Large" setting. When I tried lowering to medium and small, the zoom worked! Though I'm not sure if it zooms as many times as it did before but, I'm happy I have zoom anyway so it's ok.
Thanks again! Your question did the trick...
digital zoom is a scam you can just do it yourself with most image viewers and editors both on pocketpc's and on pc's or whatever
True, good point.. Thanks...
Helps somewhat though... But, yes, I agree, working on it straight off of a good image viewer does a better job.
Hi, is there any software which will minimize phone's post processing over taken photos? Best thing is to have pure raw.
I know its just a phone, but still maybe there is a way?
Firstly I asked bout it in galaxy s forum, but I was recommended to post it here, sorry for double post.
There is a app called LGCamera (search it on market) which has the option to take photos in RAW, though I haven't really tested it out but I saw it in there.
Thanks, though i didn't find any raw mode, i contacted developer on its possibility.
Raw would be sweet!
Oh I see, I updated to new version just before and that option is gone which was under settings.
I wonder why it was taken out...
I contacted developer (he is also russian ) and he told me that its imposible to capture raw, API doesn't support it. Also no support for shutter speed.
I wonder is there is some place where i can ask it from google?
so it never did support raw?
I gess so.
Almost impossible.

The camera firmware is written in the Kernel. You will need to write a kernel that will encode raw files and an app that can save the raw file from the kernel.
Writing a kernel from nothing is difficult. You need a lab to test the camera on your phone and encode proper raw files.
You also need to write a software on your desktop to decode the raw file.
Hey guys I was editing my picture with a photo editior on the phone and when I saved it, it somewhat corrupted it which will not allow me to view it however the wallpaper, which I set it under, still shows the picture... is the picture stored in a cache ? is there a way how I can grab it from registry?
Hey guys which thread consists of alot of views on XDA? no one talks about touch pro and all these old phones... just views no comments... =(
Sorry, I usually wait for others to post about these things before I formulate an opinion, much less voice it.
I don't know for sure if this will help but can you open the picture on your computer? Basically, copy the corrupted picture to your microSD and use an adapter that works and attempt to open the picture up on your computer.

I have the corrupted picture , but when I try to open it says it can not open it and its 0kb...I want to know if its like a computer, where sometimes I delete the wallpaper picture but still using it and for me to actually get it I have to go to the windows folder and find it to copy it.. however there isn't much in the windows on the windows mobile.
But thank you R^7z, I never hear from anyone here... its the only forums that never speaks.. seriously!
I'm not sure about this but I think PPCGeeks may have a louder CDMA RAPH fan base. Either that or there seems to be more talking in the newer device forums??? I usually hang out in the RAPH/Android forums when I am on here but occasionally I do browse the newer posts.
Not 100% as to where the actual picture is stored if that is the case. I imagine if this was a stock picture, you could get it back with a hard reset. Additionally, I wonder if the photo editor saves it somewhere?
Well first off I'm glad to see that I had saved it to my computer so I do have back up, but I'll continue my search to where it does save it to... once again thanks r^72. Most forums are talking about newer phones, android espically lol but yeah I post it up on ppcgeeks asweel and got a few info but waiting for tomorrow for more.
hey, is there a program for winmo that can display and convert raw files? i guess i could also live with something that is just able toget the embedded preview jpg out.
Try search in Google and Yahoo answer, if you want to convert any photos or other files.
Well, Now Im using aneesoft to make photoes into a 3D gallery, and seems it has several formats output to choose, and the samples are cool, if you mean make up the photoes, then could get it to have a try.

I dont see any thanks buttong.
Anyway that program is nice, but its not really compatible with the raws of a canon 5D II. So any other programs out there that are able to do that?
I'm thinking and wondering if changing a value in the build.prop will make for better pics? I've been able to do it in the past but lat time I did it was with the gs2. As you can imagine, im rusty. Before I attempt this, has anyone else tried removing all the compression? Did it make a difference? What value did we have to change again?
I saw something that improved the camera that could be flashed in recovery. But I'm on a gpe ROM and I don't know if it'll work. Not gpe conversion, just the ROM.
Thanks
From my understanding its hardcoded into the camera apk, build props dont work any longer...may be able to improve the quality of the pics being taken a bit by modifying the system\etc\media_profiles.xml
