Brand and CSC for warranty restore - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My SGS2 comes from Vodafone Italy. Apparently there is no brand detail inside, infact no logo appears during boot neither at power off, and there isn't any logo on the covers.
However typing *#1234# I can see CSC contains OMN=Omnitel=Vodafone.
In particular:
Pda: i9100xwke7
Phone: i9100xwke1
Csc: i9100omnkf1
So, is my device to be considered BRANDED?
What to do to restore back for warranty purposes? I can't understand if I have to check in XDA thread relative to unbranded roms or to branded roms...?
For warranty purposes is possible to restore by using an unbranded rom with same pda/phone parts, than mine, and multicsc and by using *..#IMEI# (don't remember exact numbers) change my CSC code to OMN after first boot?
Thanks

[Q] Importance of CSC?

Sorry guys, I know this is a really stupid question, and I have tried searching around, but I don't seem to understand what the importance of the CSC is?
My phone was originally from O2 on PAYG, and recently I updated it to KE7 using odin since O2's firmware wasn't out. I didn't do anything to change the CSC, but the debranding guides seem to recommend this. Does not changing my CSC to the XEU or whatever have any effect?
Currently Kies says my phone's CSC is KD1 (O2U). I tried using the *#1234# method to find out my phone info, but nothing comes up in the stock dialer when I enter it. The numbers simply disappear and nothing happens. Is this by any chance connected to the fact that I'm on generic firmware but didn't change the CSC?
CSC has an influence on the phone's product code, it's like the version of your firmware. Your product code and CSC will change when you debrand it to a generic firmware or any other firmware for that matter. So your CSC is most likely to be changed already, if it hasn't then do a system reboot by going in to recovery mode.
Does it matter that I haven't changed my CSC to match my generic firmware? Are there any compatibility issues in this situation?

CSC says in effect UK phone use UK settings + list of UK network providers settings .
There are no compatibility issues if it finds your network .
If it works leave it as it is .

[Q] TTT CSC? Can I upgrade/change my firmware?

I bought one of the pebble blue S3s from Negri Electronics. shipped with a UBALE6 firmware and Kies reports no upgrades available.
I decided to look at what CSC this phone is. I used *#06# to show the IMEI, then *#272*IMEI# and was shown a menu with the following items:
TDR
TTT * this was the selected option
VNO
I know I can change to a different CSC with this menu (though all data will be wiped :-/
But if no other options show up - like for a country with more frequent updates, how do I make that work?
Can I just flash a new multi-CSC firmware, then choose a different CSC? Does it matter?
Any assistance is appreciated!
Well, I took the plunge and installed this firmware:
XXALF2
Firmware Info
PDA: XXALF2
Phone: XXLF2
Date: 05/06/2012
Android Version: 4.0.4
All seems to be working at the moment, including packet data and voice calls.
I do need to do some further app testing, but *#1234# is returning a CSC code which I believe is a good sign.
I did search for some keywords that I thought would have answered my question before posting, but I guess I should have done more research.
Not had to deal with this before as my SGS2 was XEU CSC.

Which data gets wiped? Because I've heard changing the scs code gets ride of default bookmarks, is that true?
I'm not sure what data gets wiped. I only read it on blog posts I found when doing Google searches. Sorry!
I didn't change my csc code at all. Things seem to be ok for now :-D

[Q] kies not supporting update after change of motherboard

hi all,
i have a i9100 - (STOCK ROM) which i got from UK-VODAFONE. i got it hard bricked due to eMMC bug. i took it to Samsung service center in Pakistan. they told me that the motherboard need to be changed to make the phone functions. they changed the board and now STOCK ROM - Pakistan.
now when i use it with kies, it says "Your device's current firmware version is not supported firmware via Kies"
Can anybody tell me what to do now?
Thanks in Advance
Bilal
What is your current firmware version?
Pda: I9100xwlsd
phone: I9100xxls8
csc: I9100jvls6
I think the CSC needs to be changed... for if you stay in Pakistan then it should be PAK.
THIS WILL ERASE ALL YOUR DATA
First get your IMEI number by typing
Code:
*#06#
Into the dailer app, it should be a string of 15 numbers for example "123456789876543" Write this down
Next put this into your dailer
Code:
*#272*-IMEI-#
For example *#272*123456789876543#
A screen should automatically appear with many different options, now choose PAK and it will handle the rest by itself. If the screen does not appear then post back here.
thanks for the reply .... i am in Saudi Arabia now as i am working here.
I tried code *#272*=iemi but recieved a message "service not supported"

Really strange issue with CSC / Baseband / IMEI

I have a really strange problem going off here and I am hoping that a few people in the know can help.
On my ongoing saga / quest or even visit in to the twilight zome trying to get my phone repaired I have come up on a new issue.
I have managed to get the phone to boot using this ROM - KIES_HOME_I9300XXELL4_I9300OXAELL4_566833_REV00_user_low_ship.tar which I flashed via odin.
I ended up having my baseband back reporting as - I9300XXELL4 and the infamous IMEI coming up as 0049*.
Now I run terminal emulator this is what I have
getprop ro.bootloader - I9300XXUGMK6
getprop ro.baseband - unknown
Then when I run samsung phone info I get the following
CSC INFO
Original CSC code - KOR
Firmwares CSC code - KOR
Active CSC code - KOR
CSC country - Korea
CSC Country ISO - blank
Product code - GT-I9300RWDEUR
The Korea part baffles me as everytime I have downloaded a ROM I have looked for BTU as I am in the UK and from the digging I have done this phone was unlocked.
So even to someone like me with very limited knowledge of this sort of stuff, it looks like I have a combination of a 4.3 Bootloader and 4.1.2 system which could be stopping me from getting my IMEI up?
Would flashing a MK6 BTU Modem ( as I am in the UK ) through Odin work?
Unknown baseband means hardware failure, csc is unimportant.
To set the csc to match firmware you need to factory reset in recovery, after flashing.

So in phone settings it is showing as the I9300XXELL4 baseband however in terminal emulator it is unknown what does that mean?

Hi guys cam you tell me what phone product code i have and what you think the reseller did to the csc?

Long post here sorry people, now guys I would really appreciate your input as I'm new to unlocking phones and flashing fw etc
I recently ordered a brand new handset that was sold to me as sim free unlocked uk version as I'm from the uk ,when I recieved the phone yesterday all seemed good and new and unused,so I went into software information in the phone to check if it was really a uk handset i expected to see XEU/XEU/XEU OR BTU/BTU/BTU like my other uk phones, but the service provider sw ver had weird csc codes I've never seen on a uk handset, its was
AUT/AUT/O2U now after doing some research the code on the right O2U is the original csc and cant be changed and O2U is o2 uk so the phone was a locked and branded o2 uk phone I guess?so I'm assuming the csc was originally O2U/O2U/O2U or maybe XEU/XEU/O2U? I may be wrong here ,but AUT/AUT from my small bit of research is a Switzerland unlocked firmware,so what has the seller sold me?
IS my phone a uk locked branded O2 handset, that the seller had unlocked so the phone would work with any sim card ,and did he flash swiss unlocked firmware?if so why?and how can I be sure what the original csc was for the first 2 codes?i know the 3rd code is O2U so if I wanted to get the phone back to the original state if I needed to send it in for warranty?or would a phone like this still be in warranty?
Now I did say this was going to be a long post I apologise guys.so anyway at this point the CSC codes are AUT/AUT/O2U then I put my uk ee sim card into the handset for the first time to check if the phone really is unlocked, after inserting the sim card a message came up saying please factory reset to make the sim work or something along those lines, but before I did that I went back into software information to see if the csc had changed and it had changed to AUT/XEU/O2U so this was weird, then I factory reset the phone, after the factory reset it prompted another factory reset so I clicked ok
Then after the reset was done I went back into software information and the csc had changed again for the 3rd time, this time to XEU/XEU/O2U and it's been on this ever since,do uk o2 phones have this csc?with XEU/XEU/O2U or would they be O2U/O2U/O2U? again I apologise for the long post but if you guys could tell me what my phone is and what has been done to it would be helpful, and is my warranty still intact if the csc has changed automatically by me inserting my sim card?and if I wanted to revert the phone back to how it was before it was unlocked what would the csc be and how easy is it to revert it back to the 3 original csc what ever they may have been,
Ok guys I probably should have just called samung before making this thread, but I just called them and gave them the imei number and they said it's a uk 02 locked phone that is unlocked now for any sim as I'm using my ee sim.so I dont know why the csc said AUT/AUT/O2U .them changed to AUT/XEU/O2U then changed to XEU/XEU/O2U
But if I wanted to turn my phone back into a locked o2 phone again not that I would probbly need to do this but would the phone have been branded or non branded o2 phone.and what would the csc be and would that change automatically from XEU/XEU/O2U to something else if I were to flash android 10 firmware for a uk o2 phone using Odin would that change the csc back to what it was originally before I recieved the phone?or would I have to do something else to get the original csc back?
I think the O2 carrier firmware was changed to unlocked/unbranded
If I wanted to take it back to o2 like it was originally how would I do that? Could I just flash this 02 android 10 fimwhere using odin and that will change the csc back to whatever it was originally will this O2 file make my phone 02and locked o2 again?and would I need an o2 sim card to make the csc change back to the original csc .or will it auto change after flashing the o2 firmware?
