I bought one of the pebble blue S3s from Negri Electronics. shipped with a UBALE6 firmware and Kies reports no upgrades available.
I decided to look at what CSC this phone is. I used *#06# to show the IMEI, then *#272*IMEI# and was shown a menu with the following items:
TDR
TTT * this was the selected option
VNO
I know I can change to a different CSC with this menu (though all data will be wiped :-/
But if no other options show up - like for a country with more frequent updates, how do I make that work?
Can I just flash a new multi-CSC firmware, then choose a different CSC? Does it matter?
Any assistance is appreciated!
Well, I took the plunge and installed this firmware:
XXALF2
Firmware Info
PDA: XXALF2
Phone: XXLF2
Date: 05/06/2012
Android Version: 4.0.4
All seems to be working at the moment, including packet data and voice calls.
I do need to do some further app testing, but *#1234# is returning a CSC code which I believe is a good sign.
I did search for some keywords that I thought would have answered my question before posting, but I guess I should have done more research.
Not had to deal with this before as my SGS2 was XEU CSC.

Which data gets wiped? Because I've heard changing the scs code gets ride of default bookmarks, is that true?
I'm not sure what data gets wiped. I only read it on blog posts I found when doing Google searches. Sorry!
I didn't change my csc code at all. Things seem to be ok for now :-D

Sorry guys, I know this is a really stupid question, and I have tried searching around, but I don't seem to understand what the importance of the CSC is?
My phone was originally from O2 on PAYG, and recently I updated it to KE7 using odin since O2's firmware wasn't out. I didn't do anything to change the CSC, but the debranding guides seem to recommend this. Does not changing my CSC to the XEU or whatever have any effect?
Currently Kies says my phone's CSC is KD1 (O2U). I tried using the *#1234# method to find out my phone info, but nothing comes up in the stock dialer when I enter it. The numbers simply disappear and nothing happens. Is this by any chance connected to the fact that I'm on generic firmware but didn't change the CSC?
CSC has an influence on the phone's product code, it's like the version of your firmware. Your product code and CSC will change when you debrand it to a generic firmware or any other firmware for that matter. So your CSC is most likely to be changed already, if it hasn't then do a system reboot by going in to recovery mode.
Does it matter that I haven't changed my CSC to match my generic firmware? Are there any compatibility issues in this situation?

CSC says in effect UK phone use UK settings + list of UK network providers settings .
There are no compatibility issues if it finds your network .
If it works leave it as it is .

My SGS2 comes from Vodafone Italy. Apparently there is no brand detail inside, infact no logo appears during boot neither at power off, and there isn't any logo on the covers.
However typing *#1234# I can see CSC contains OMN=Omnitel=Vodafone.
In particular:
Pda: i9100xwke7
Phone: i9100xwke1
Csc: i9100omnkf1
So, is my device to be considered BRANDED?
What to do to restore back for warranty purposes? I can't understand if I have to check in XDA thread relative to unbranded roms or to branded roms...?
For warranty purposes is possible to restore by using an unbranded rom with same pda/phone parts, than mine, and multicsc and by using *..#IMEI# (don't remember exact numbers) change my CSC code to OMN after first boot?
Thanks
Hi,
I bought a Galaxy S2 I9100G (chinese version) while in China.
I am now in Israel.
I would like to change the phone's default 'country code' from China to Israel,
meaning - all phones calling from Israel should not show the '+972' prefix in the beginning.
In addition, I would like to change the way phone numbers are presented.
Meaning - instead of showing '031-234567' I would like to show '03-1234567'.
How do I do this ?
(I have managed to root the phone).
Try a custom ROM that has a multi-csc package built in.Ive got a vodafone SGS2 that was ATL but flashed OmegaROM which has a multi-csc package and when I chose EUR as my csc it changed my product code when viewed from nitrality app. to LKAEUR.
before doing it please backup your data
1. Just type *#272*Device IMEI# at Phone dial pad. (where Device IMEI in your device IMEI number)
2. Select the CSC that you want.
3. Click Install.
4. Phone will be rebooted by itself.
5. That’s all.
Enjoy :highfive:
Just remember that changing csc will wipe you data.
Send form Galaxy S2. But I don't have it :-\
That code *#272*Device IMEI# doesn't work on JB 4.1.2
any ideas?
My device
PDA : I9100XXLSJ
PHONE : I9100XXLS6
CSC : I9100OXXLS1

Hello
Today I installed OMEGA rom 43.6 4.1.2 on my rooted s3. I cannot connect to my netowrk. I have done every single thing including changing modem and checking IMEI number and whatnot. My CSC code wont change. I tried changing it (I do have root and busy box installed) through the csc changer app but it doesnt change. It stays the same. I tried converting it to my country but it didnt work..
This was my previous ssettings. I live in Pakistan
AP: I9300XXEMA2
CP: I9300XXELLA
CSC: I9300OJVEMA1
And the ones attached in the image are the ones which are not changing..
Search in General Thread. They are a topic containing CSC collection.
Take the correct file and flash it with your Recovery.
But wrong CSC are not responsible of your network connection problem. It only contains information concerning sales codes ... used by Google Play for example. A phone with bad CSC can send/receive calls/messages...
I have a really strange problem going off here and I am hoping that a few people in the know can help.
On my ongoing saga / quest or even visit in to the twilight zome trying to get my phone repaired I have come up on a new issue.
I have managed to get the phone to boot using this ROM - KIES_HOME_I9300XXELL4_I9300OXAELL4_566833_REV00_user_low_ship.tar which I flashed via odin.
I ended up having my baseband back reporting as - I9300XXELL4 and the infamous IMEI coming up as 0049*.
Now I run terminal emulator this is what I have
getprop ro.bootloader - I9300XXUGMK6
getprop ro.baseband - unknown
Then when I run samsung phone info I get the following
CSC INFO
Original CSC code - KOR
Firmwares CSC code - KOR
Active CSC code - KOR
CSC country - Korea
CSC Country ISO - blank
Product code - GT-I9300RWDEUR
The Korea part baffles me as everytime I have downloaded a ROM I have looked for BTU as I am in the UK and from the digging I have done this phone was unlocked.
So even to someone like me with very limited knowledge of this sort of stuff, it looks like I have a combination of a 4.3 Bootloader and 4.1.2 system which could be stopping me from getting my IMEI up?
Would flashing a MK6 BTU Modem ( as I am in the UK ) through Odin work?
Unknown baseband means hardware failure, csc is unimportant.
To set the csc to match firmware you need to factory reset in recovery, after flashing.

So in phone settings it is showing as the I9300XXELL4 baseband however in terminal emulator it is unknown what does that mean?
