Can I just use an ODIN package to go back to eclair and then just OTA to ED04 and send them my phone? Will my warranty still be void? I believe by doing this i'll clear the root, SU, etc so I think the warranty is still ok...
You should be ok, as far as I know using odin to install stock eclair and OTA'ing up to ED04 should remove all trace of root, at least enough for verizon. As long as it boots up and is on ED04 I don't think they care, as I sent back a fascinate recently by doing this.

My modem hardware crapped out on me about a month ago no 3g what so ever..I odin'd the eb01.tar with the atlas 2.2 pit file and brought it to verizon...they confirmed my modem was hosed and sent me a new one...they've had my borked one for about
5-6 weeks and all I've heard from them was a thank you for sending my hardware back

Thanks for the replies! Time to ODIN back to stock and OTA up Hopefully my new phone doesn't crap out like this one.

Don't know if this is a coincidence or not,,,but I was on ComRom 2.0 and SteelBlue v2.75....I decided to flash the comrom 2.1 update and (after reboot)the SteelBlue v3.1 theme...I did wipe cache and all of that...after flashing these 2 items..my data connection no longer stays connected...
When it is working, Speedtest app says ping 856ms and download is 16k and up 12k...and connection keeps dropping....I did a factory reset, and then re-flash of com rom 2.0..still have 3g problem...So I used Odin with the Atlas .pit and stock EB01 .tar to get back to clean stock install..still having problems...called verizon and thy could do ESN swap or DMU reset but unless they uses a smartphone ESN, I will loose my unlimited data plan...since removing the smartphone then adding it back removes a data plan, there is no way for them to but the unlimited data plan back...only the new 2gb for $30...(for those who don't know, as of July 7, the unlimited data plan no longer exists, instead its $30 for 2gb, $50 for 5gb and $80 for 10gb. Current customers can keep their unlimited data, as long as they keep their smartphone on their line.) So for me, they are sending me an replacement fascinate...grrrr...hopefully the new one will be better hardware..
EDIT: got replacement fascinate...working well...flashed comRom 2.1 and SteelBlue v3.1..ED04 modem.

Assuming we will get 2.2 eventually. I have a question. Im currently running the bionix 1.9.1 with the jacs uv/uc. I made a nandroid before I flashed it. When froyo rolls out do I need to revert back to my backup so I can get it? I know it wil be awhile but im just trying to get a game plan going. I dont want to wait to the last minute and be clueless. Thanks in advance.

I plan to flash back to stock with Odin. Clear it all out.
When you odin back to stock, it unroots correct?
Correct. I did this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803492
To my wife's phone when the OTA bricked it. Compared to other phones Ive read about - the Vibrant to way to easy to root. (or reroot)
When froyo begins rolling out there will be fully functional and complete 2.2 roms available for you to flash before you even get the update notification.
I need to take my fascinate to the verizon store because of this missed call issue so i need to unroot/go back to stock. I followed kidserious' guide on going from cm7/miui/omfgb to another rom/unbricking your phone. So I odined official froyo ed05, atlas pit, and re-partitioned. I am now on bloated/binged/tw froyo. Is this all I need to do or is there something else i need to do so i don't void my warranty? Thanks.
If your phone is back to stock and unrooted, there shouldn't be a problem. I have turned in a rooted phone before and they couldnt tell so I'm sure you're safe

I'm not sure if I'm the only one who is having this problem but I've searched around and can't fix the issue. I recently had CM9 but went back to complete stock, on 2.3.4 (which isn't up to date). When I go to update from the settings menu, I get a communication failed text box, which then in turn makes me wait 24 hours before checking again.
I've done multiple battery pulls and stopped the running process for the software update to no avail. Can anyone help me with this?
Remember, I'm on the stock AT&T rom.

I think others were having trouble updating as well... I'd suggest flashing a custom rom, or if you want to stay with stock, using Entropy's Back to Stock packages (I'm not going to link that for you cause I'm too lazy and you should be able to find it.)

Might give it a try. Trouble is, not having a rooted phone and going back to stock means I lose all applications and data with them. Eh. Thanks
Download stock rom (if u can get a tar file it most likely has everything u need, do some Googling just make sure its for the i777). Get mobile odin pro. Use mobile odin pro to flash the .tar and it gives u the option to root right there within the app before u flash. Profit. Just giving my two cents and what worked for me . If u do this though and don't remove any system apps it should allow u to ota upgrade. Haven't tried myself but that sounds like it'd work fine.

I already did this except for rooting about 3 weeks ago. From what you're saying, if I root my phone from its current state I should be able to receive OTA updates? I'm willing to root just to see but I don't see how that would fix the "communication failed" errors for updates.

FYI I have a rooted stock ROM, and I'm having difficulty doing an OTA update also. Different error (mine is "interrupted" after reboot). I posted it here because it seemed more related to that thread and I had other Q's about the process.
You guys are in panic mode, wait till we actually get an ANNOUNCEMENT for ICS from AT&T, then try to go back to stock using the methods we have.
No reason to do so right now, since AT&T will probably take a long time before pushing it.
We have a possible sources dropping on March 15th from i9100 but you will be required to be rooted to flash the possible ICS Roms that will be available after that date.

You might want to check the (Guide)How to flash custom binaries.....on this forum. Creepycrawly has posted a reply towards the end of the thread that might be helpful. Believe its on one of the last two pages.
As has been said many times in other threads, even on a stock ROM if you have rooted and removed even one item of bloatware or made any other mods you will not be able to download an OTA update.
I have not rooted my phone. And as I said earlier, I restored my phone to complete stock meaning no bloatware has been removed. I'm still at a loss for what to do

You were on CM9 (in a later post you say CM7), but you went back to stock UCKH7. Now you are unable to update over the air to UCKK6. You are mainly interested in having the phone ready to receive the update over the air to ICS, whenever that occurs. You have not rooted the phone since you returned to stock but you are willing to try root if it will help the update happen. You were also concerned about loosing apps and their data since you are not rooted. I recapped all this because on stock you should be able to run the update. To help you solve the problem, need to know all the facts.
I've done the following, although it has been several months ago, about a week or two after UCKK6 first released. From running a custom rom, I did a wipe data/factory reset, flashed stock UCKH7 plus root, and ran the over the air update to UCKK6 successfully, retaining root on UCKK6. I just did this to test it out, so after completing the test, I used my nandroid backup to return to the custom rom I was on.
I would assume that you did a wipe data/factory reset either before or after you flashed back to stock? If not, there could be traces left over that could interfere with the update process. I'm not sure if there could be traces left even after a wipe data/factory reset, but the Cyanogen Mod file structure is so very different than stock that it wouldn't be inconceivable.
Next, I would wonder how soon after flashing back to stock you tried to run the update, and if not immediately, what action could have possibly placed or removed files that would intefere with the process.
I'm pretty certain that if you were to wipe data/factory reset with a format and then flash stock again, and then try to run the update immediately, it would succeed. So there has to be something in the file system preventing it. You may not find it easy to correct that something manually. You may just have to do a wipe data/factory reset, and maybe a format, and then start all over with a fresh install.
Of course, that is the reason for rooting first. Root, then back up everything with titanium backup, SMS backup, export contacts, etc. and save all that to your computer. Then you can restore stuff after.
Thanks creepy,
I'm in the process of doing what you said. I rooted my phone, backed up everything I thought needs to be backed up and flashed the stock rom (2.3.4 kernel version 2.6.35.7 baseband version I777UCKH7). I still need to do a factory format in order to see if that will fix the update problem.
Question. Is the firmware version(s) above the latest AT&T software? According to Kies, it is. But I am reading other places that the latest software is android 2.3.6.
Did exactly as creepy stated. Brought the phone back to stock software and did a factory reset. Without ANY customization and as soon as the phone booted up, I did the software update and had the same thing, "Communication failed" (says there is an update available but servers are busy).
I give up.
Well, I don't have any new ideas. Maybe if I get some time in the next few days I'll try it on my phone to see what happens. It has been a while since I tried it. Maybe the server behaves differently now?

From what I've been reading on AT&T forums (http://forums.att.com/t5/Samsung/Sa...2-3-6-OTA-update-now-live/td-p/2996495/page/3) I don't think so. I've been trying every combination I can think of to make this thing work but I honestly have no idea. I was extremely surprised when I brought the phone back to complete stock and no root and still couldn't get the update.
If ICS ever comes to AT&T GS2, I'll wait a month or so to keep trying then I might resort to going to an AT&T store to get a replacement. Who knows
So, I got this phone a few days ago and I've been playing around with flashing roms and all. I'm not sure if I really wanna commit to this phone for two years and still have a week to return it to verizon. But right now it's running CM10.1 with a chronic kernel, and I'm not sure if I can return it in that state lol.
So, my question is, how do I do a full complete wipe, and reflash a brand new default stock image, unrooted with all that wonderful verizon bloat.

You can return it without unrooting (ive done it twice with T-mobile and know of many who have done it through Verizon)... but if you want to unroot to play it extremely safe, just reflash the stock tar using ODIN (pretty sure its here)

I bought a sprint note 3 last night clean ESN but we couldn't get it activated, took it to sprint found out it was rooted, but had no sprint firmware on it.
ran root checker on it and it showed rooted. i can't get it back in to recovery
i get this message "
Recovery is not Seandroid Enforcing"
in download mode it says knox warranty void 0X1.
i've tried rerooting, and writing factory firmware on it in odin and it keeps failing.
it will write the CF-Root file and won't do much else
got TWRP on it and can now get into recovery.
does anyone have a flashable zip of the stock firmware and rom for this phone please.
tried to flash Vision X rom got message no MD5 file found
and you must flash your device kernel ?? i thought roms came with kernels....
i got the jelly bombed rom on it up and running now BUT it still doesn't have any sprint firmware on it.
so i still can not activate it. what it's missing is anything sprint. the wifi calling ect.
so how do i get all those files and how do i add them.
i found a stock file and installed it in odin and now i'm unrooted, but the phone still will not activate.
i tried to do an update on the software on the phone and it gives a message that the phone has been modified and can not update ???
i have no idea what to do now ... why can't i activate this damn phone it's all stock now.
the tar. file i flashed is 4.3 can i flash a 4.4 tar. filewith wifi calling in odin since it's not rooted anymore?
would that fix it ??
any help will be appreciated.... right no it' just a paper weight

Flash the stock tar or one-click, each located in the dev forum.
The OPs of each thread contain thorough instructions for upgrading everything to the latest stock Sprint firmware, baseband, bootloader.
Then, and only then, get the phone activated via a call to Sprint or hie yourself to the store for same. It should propagate quickly, and you'll be able to do all that which one can with a Sprint Note 3 on their network.
Good luck!

None of which I can think at the moment. The one-click contains everything, and I believe that includes the carrier specific files. I may be wrong, but I believe it's an all inclusive factory image.
Just for kicks, what's it say for the model number behind the physical battery?

as i said in the other thread, i've been trying to activate on my online account, by switching service from my note 2

when i switch service over to this note 3 my online account says it's activated, but my signal bar on phone has the red X and no signal.
tried forced activation and same story with it.
just tried it again and the thing i have to agree to isn't from sprint it's samsung wifi.
following my online activation on sprints website i try to update profile, initializing application it what pops up when i touch it but nothing else happens, so it won't update anything.and i'm on wifi.

Sir micmars i found this thread with exactaly the same issue i'm having, you gave a solution at the end of this thread but no one posted if it worked of not, i keep trying all these different nc5 roms installing through odin and i keep getting that red X on my signal bar.
Did you do a full factory reset within the phone's os? A second important thing, since you mentioned a red x for signal. Is the original Sim card in the phone? Cards for Sim slots in sprint phones are not interchangeable like gsm cards are. The card is paired to the phone from factory. After a full reset, maybe go by a corporate sprint store that has, or can get, a replacement Sim card for your phone. This is the only thing I can think of after all you've said so far. If that doesn't work, then there could be some deep programming involved, ##data#, to get it back into shape. Flashing Roms won't change this deep parameters for a sprint phone. Either will factory resets. You might have got a phone that someone phucked with deeply or you might have bought an expensive paperweight.
