[Q] Factory Reset in download mode vs. TWRP Factory Reset (Wipe)

Factory Reset in download mode vs. TWRP Factory Reset (Wipe)
What are the differences between them? I feel like I experienced different results between the 2. for example, I had no data and phone signals for the last few days and tried TWRP Wipe many times with no avail. Then when i did the factory reset from the download screen it seemed to fix the issue. This could all be a coincidence and probably is.
I thought that since I have a custom recovery the factory reset in the download screen does not do anything different than the TWRP one. I'm sure I'm wrong. Enlighten me please.

HELP!!! Flashed...now BRICKED :(

Was running a semi stable version of CyanideL 5.1 RC 14. Against my better judgement I decided to update to the RC 15. Rebooted into Recovery and did a "Wipe Data/Factory Reset" then tried to install the update. Something went wrong during the update and forced me to ODIN flash back to 4.1.1. After doing so, SUCCESSFULLY, I rooted, but forgot that even though I restored it to 4.1.1...I probably re-locked the bootloader...After receiving the message on my phone from VZW that I have unauthorized software. I tried to ODIN flash 4.1.2....the phone reboots but gets stuck on the the SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 2 LOGO. I tried flashing the Stock Root 66, but that wouldn't work. Anyway to fix this?
After you flash the 4.1.2 stock package through odin, wipe data/factory reset and reboot. Sometimes after a clean flash it will keep rebooting or stick, so try to wipe what you can in stock recovery and reboot.

Update to B140 fails, factory reset?

Everytime I try to update my phone (stock recovery) I get a fail, even if I unplug the USB.
I think it's because I installed some tweaks when I was rooted. Will a factory wipe/reset make the update work?

e recovery failed to factory reset

Is anyone having similar problems. I have flashed an open kirin rom. After that I haven't been able to factory reset the phone using the stock recovery and it keeps looping. The factory reset option seems to be blurred out and I can't access it
What should I do in this scenario ?
TIA
Do you have flashed recovery_ramsdisk with Magisk?
In that case, you may have to restore the stock recovery
When I trieed, I noitced that eRecovery boots Recovery to factory reset and wipe. Which was not possible with the falshed magisk....
Good luck,
Peter
