[Q] LG P500 Corporate email setup issue - Optimus One, P500, V General

Hi
I recently bought an LG P500.
I was trying to setup a corporate email account on my android. But it didnt work.
As far as i know, all the data were entered correctly.
1. Username/domain
2. Password.
3. Server.
Finally it comes ups as 'invalid username or password' authentication failed.
I did go through a few other threads, but none could help me with regards to this. Could some one please help me out with this issue?
thanks,
Varun

As far as I know and experienced, setting up a corporate email account on your mobile device requires a permission from the Email administrator of your company. It cannot be set up as easily as a normal email account. Pls contact your email administrator to resolve this.

One common problem is the username+domain combination. When you add the username, add the domain with it. Ex [email protected] and do not write the username alone.

Got it Fixed guys!!!
As mentioned its the username/domain issue.... Contacting the system admin was the only option!
thanks for the info anyways

Flashable Galaxy Tab Email app/Bionix Frost and Simply Galaxy/Sweet Honey/Bi-Winning

PLEASE READ THE OP! YOU MAY NOT THINK SO, BUT THERE IS INFORMATION HERE THAT MAY SAVE YOU TIME AND HEADACHES!
This is a flashable zip of the Galaxy Tab email app for 2.2.1 Roms. It does not work properly with exchange in 2.2 Roms, so please do not use if you are on a 2.2 Rom and need to use exchange. If you do not use exchange and are on a 2.2 or 2.2.1 Rom, it will work fine!
HISTORY: This app was ported to the Vibrant last year and was modded by XDA member, 'smoothone' who fixed the resolution for the Vibrant. Before that, the app was too large for the lower resolution Vibrant screen. It had many problems for exchange users which were only resolved when Froyo 2.2.1 was released. This app has extraordinary functionality, including multi-delete and support for all versions of exchange. It doesn't exactly support 'push' for corporate exchange accounts, but you can set it to sync on an interval of five minutes.
It has been tested and reported working perfectly in both Bionix Frost, Simply Galaxy/Sweet Honey, and Bi-Winning all 2.2.1 Roms. If you encounter any problems, please be clear in describing what exactly is going wrong. Screenshots are in the second and third posts below.

How to set up Yahoo! Mail with your mobile client using IMAP
On your phone, press < Home >, then open the Email application.
On the 'Your accounts' page, select Next to get started with setup.
Enter your full Yahoo! address and password, then select Next.
On the next screen, you can give the account a nickname and choose the name to display on your outgoing messages. Tap Done.

If prompted, supply the following information:
Incoming Server - imap.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing Server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Instructions for setting up 'Push' for Hotmail and Gmail
FOR HOTMAIL: Open the email app and tap 'Menu' then 'Account Manager' then 'Add Account'. Type in your full 'Username and Password' ([email protected]) then select Manual 'Setup'. Out of the three choices choose 'Exchange account'. Your Domain\Username will appear with a backward slash. You must add '@hotmail.com' to it. The only other thing you need to change here is the server setting to 'm.hotmail.com'. Use ssl will already be checked. Tap 'Next'. NOTE: This may work for '[email protected]', and '[email protected]' too, but that has not been confirmed.
FOR GMAIL: Open the email app and tap 'Menu' then 'Account Manager' then 'Add Account'. Type in your full 'Username and Password' ([email protected]) then select 'Manual Setup'. Thanks to krad42 we now have a version with security removed! He can explain it better than me.
I was sick of using pin mode to unlock my phone every time I locked it. Keep in mind there is a purpose of the security tools, prevent unauthorized access and remote wipe incase your phone gets lost. I am actually using delay lock app from market with this setup so that the phone will prompt for pin after a set period of time, but not every time I close out. Go ahead and make a flashable if you would like, hopefully it will be useful for others. Be safe, follow krad's advice and use the 'DelayedLock' app from the Market!

Wow, that was fast! I hadn't finished setting things up yet, lol! That reminds me that it works fine if you are not using exchange and I should add that to the OP!
I saw in another post that you have one that gets by the security lock tool. Can you post that version.

Seems like exchange issues are dependant on the version of the exchange server that someone is synching with. I had all kinds of issues when my job had exchange 2007. Now they are running 2010 and I have not had any issues with stock or tab versions.

Sorry it took me so long to reply, but I can't connect in Firefox for some reason today either on Windows or Ubuntu and IE isn't working so fast either although it is working. Anyway, sad to say I don't know of a Tab version with the security disabled. There were two tools able to do that made for use with HTC phones. Other devs modded those applications and got it working for other devices. Problem was no one managed to do it for the Galaxy Tab version that I know of. It was about that time that Froyo 2.2.1 was released and all efforts seemed to die out. I did try to contact smoothone and let him know there was a tool to remove security, but he had received a ban from XDA and was unreachable. Another user posted that he was leaving xda after his ban. If you have the ablility, I can put you in touch with those threads tonight if you want to take a crack at modding it for the Tab version.
Edit: I'll try looking into it tomorrow also, but I can make no promises of success.

I don't know where you are on this, but I think I've found something else you could use to solve the exchange problems with the Galaxy Tab once and for all. [APP] **Updated 12/27/2010** Email.apk - Gingerbread src code w/o Exchange security I guess the idea is to remove the ability of the app the look for a security code. I don't know, it's all French to me, LOL!

Sorry I missed you post earlier. I used to get that error message when connected to wifi on my yahoo account. I just checked, and I don't get it anymore. (Strange) I would try deleting your yahoo account on the phone and going to menu>setting>applications>manage applications>all tab> scroll down to account and sync settings (actually it's third in the list on my phone) tap that and delete any cache and data (if there is any). Then scroll down to the email app and delete cache and data for that (there definitely should be some). Then reboot and reset your yahoo account. Let me know if that works.
Edit: Sorry I forgot all about Imap! Something changed when setting up yahoo in android from my last rom to this one. I had the instructions in my file the whole time. The setup menu on the phone will take you through the incoming server settings first (incoming server, then incoming port, then check a box for 'ssl' required...) and then you can set up the outgoing server settings.

You certainly are fast! You know, I pm'd several devs about doing what you did today and never got a reply. Thank you so very much! I have a question though: Since you had no problems with the original or stock versions with exchange 2010 why did you want a version minus the security feature? And, do you mind if I place you .apk in a flashable zip and offer it to 2.2 users for testing (I'll make sure to credit you). Security wasn't the only problem with the Tab email unfortunately. I'd like to get some feedback from exchange users still on 2.2 Roms.

[Q] STOCK email client - hotmail - Error 301

Somehow my hotmail account stopped working on stock email client. I removed the account from the client and then attempted to login again. It shows following message on numerous attempts: "The attempt to sign in failed due to an invalid User name, Password, or incorrect settings. Please check your username, password and settings on the web, and try again. (301)"
I have spent around 2 days to sort this thing out and has done googling to find any solution, Appreciate the help.
I don't have a solution for your email client, but there is an official Hotmail app. It works very well on my S2 and it has address book integration as well. Perhaps you could give it a try.

Hi dear, Thanks for advice. I did downloaded and tried on the app as suggested. Again I have following message:
"the attempt to sign in failed due to an invalid email address and/or password. please check your email address and password and try again (300)"
I pinch myself to make sure I am typing everything right. However on browser it works alright. Any suggestion
How complex is your password? Any chance you can try changing your hotmail password to something simpler temporarily as a test to see if it is indeed a password issue?

Old password was 13 letters long mix of upper and lower case letters with some numbers. no non-numerical char.
At the risk of sounding like a stalker, how does the new one differ?
Mostly, is it shorter? Did the old one start with a number and the new one doesnt?
Mine is 20 chars long, has 2 "symbols", some numbers and it starts with a number. I'd really really like to find out where they cocked up with this

That (Bold) was the reason in my case.
Just a piece of information that hotmail does not take more than 16 letters/numbers/symbols etc as password.

Why is there this limit when authenticating from a mobile application, whichever that might be (the official app, the samsung email app, etc)?
I am afraid hotmail officials are the right people to tell you.

Help Setting Up Exchange on Note

I need some help setting up exchange on the note. The IT guys are clueless here. I been trying for hour, with all different names. Help if you can..
This is what I have typed in...

Password:
Exchance Server: webmail.state.pa.us
x Use Secure Connection
I just get an error.
You can use this to troubleshooting the issue

It is possible the username will be the SAM name which is 20 characters and instead of the @ it uses the _
Your SAM name would be
c-anarnold_state.pa.u

invalid username or password. I know it's correct because it works with OWA.
Try doing it without the domain. Most of the time you don't actually need it.
EDIT - Any by that I mean just use - [email protected] for domain/username and get rid of the "domain/"

Are you setting it up while on WiFi by any chance. Reason I ask is I couldnt do it once while on Comcast Wfi at home but went to Att Network and it set up fine.
Also gave me incorrect user/password at the time.
You might consider this a painful option, but there have been times on various Samsung devices I had to do a factory reset/full wipe, and then seemingly automagically, the Exchange setup would then work.
Samsung's implementation of Exchange leaves a lot to be desired. I never was able to get Exchange email working on an original Galaxy Tab.

The domain is the internal Active Directory domain, or if it is a hotmail or windows live account, there's no domain, but you still have to use the backslash.
so my email address is [email protected] but the internal active directory domain name is xyz.com, then your user name is:
xyz\abc
and your password is your password
if it is a hotmail account (which in your case is not but this is just for informational puposes) then your user name would have to be entered as:
\abc
the use of ssl depends on the configuration of the exchange serve, but that is something that your exchange administrator will have to tell you.
also, when you setup an exchange account, the domain name for authentication is not the same as the server name. in the case above, the server name can be mail.cde.com, so in your case, you have to find out what is the external server name from your exchange administrator...
i hope this helps.

Have you tried using www instead of webmail for the Exchange server?
If it's still not working it could be they have security requirements that aren't supported by TouchWiz's Exchange client. It's pretty rare these days, but it wasn't so rare a couple of years ago with Android's half-baked support for Exchange.
You might try the free trial of Moxier or Touchdown and see if you can get it to work through one of those. Both of them are available on the Android Market. I know it sucks to have to use a third party.
You might need to have activesync enabled in your exchange server.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717
Maybe you need to change the password for your account at your workstation then try with the new password on your phone. I know for me, our accounts require that a new password be set up every month or so and it asks for it automatically at certain time intervals. This corrected my Exchange issues before.

[Q] Email addresses not loading

Hi guys,
My brother pricked up a galaxy s 2 yesterday for a new job he has and he needs email on the go - he's not at all familiar with technology so has been slow to get a smartphone but now has no choice. I have a nexus myself so am familiar enough with setting them up. Have managed to add his email account via the built in email app and email sends and receives fine. What it is not doing though is either suggesting an email address when you put in the first few letters or remembering an email address that i have just sent to. I downloaded the gmail app and added a new account to test it on this. Same problem whereby it is not remembering the email address that i have just sent to. I would appreciate any help as he is flying back to Brussels later and needs this for his new job
Many thanks

I don't have this, too.
So only way to get this work is creating a contact.
It will fill up when start writing.
Also u can try other email application (like K9) but I don't think that it is working...
So maybe ur brother create a Contact named f.ex. "JOB" and in this contact he add all the important email adresses... (just an idea)
Hope I helped.
CHEERS
Hey thanks for the reply - i just switched him over to gmail altogether as i couldnt get the other apps to work at all. I know he'll have to type the email address at least once before its saved even in gmail but i think the app is better than the stock one.
Cheers
