I think i found a bug. Please confirm if you have the same problem
i use my phone with below settings:
- brightness=auto
- screen time out=30 seconds
- auto adjust screen power=on
- power saving mode on at 30% battery power
Now when my battery is under 30% power saving mode works and decreases my brightness to %10 and screen time out to 15 seconds as i want. no problem so far
But after i charge my phone, my original settings (30 seconds screen timeout and auto brightness does NOT come back. it keeps using the power saving mode settings.
Any of you is having this issue? Please let us know.
I am using 2.3.4 stock and i had this problem on 2.3.3 stock too
yep same here, though I've set it to 10% for emergency cases
thanks for the answer
anyone else?
It's been reported by other users too. Mine does the same, but i stopped using it.
Interesting and I thought it was juice defender doing it. Yes I have too.

Hi,
my new archos 101 often cannot wake up after sleep (deep sleep or screen timeout).
tried many methods: wifi disabled, battery booster, flight mode, sounds disabled... no luck.
i installed new fw, 2.1.8 and arctool with markets and google app and some games.
uninstalling maps and disabling wifi location didnt help. whats strange, is that sometimes screen turn on after 30s+ seconds..
i am new, but is there any way to check what's a process blocking it?
write to logs or connect via usb and check?
help very much appreciated
I'm having the same problem...
I just keep pressing the on/off button until the screen turns on. Didn't find a fix yet.
>>> i installed new fw, 2.1.8 and arctool with markets and google app and some games.
those were my 1st steps with archos, so dont know if it works in previous firmware.
right now, i dont want to do hard reset.
There is allready a discussion about this.
It seems that after the press, the archos is waking up, but the displaylight itself doesn't come up.
If you switch the display to abough 30% ( Settings/Display ) this doesn't happen again.
NOT kidding: the Archos has trouble turning on when cold. Try warming it on the radiator if its <15 degrees celcius.

success!
turned out, it is TRUE... 30% solved it!
btw, pretty ridiculous bug..

30% of what? Increased brightness? I went to settings/display and couldn't find percentage level
As i don't have an english version, i can't tell you what you should read there,
but which other setting in display has percentages?
no % displayed, but just set if for 1/3 of the progress bar.
Jeezus, i cant believe it, but i can confirm that it's a brightness setting issue. It's so ridiculous but it's true. I have been frantically trying to find a solution to this problem for the past 30 mins, and turning the brightness setting to 40% worked to restore the screen after the soft sleep mode, when previously i had to keep rebooting the damn thing by longpressing the power button. THANKS A MILLION, GUYS!
Ohh i see i am not alone = ]
Thank you for the Workaround!

Hi, got my galaxy S II a couple of days ago, very satisfied so far!
But I have one question I would like to ask..
when I enable the power savings mode, it says it is active even though the battery percentage is over the threshold I have set..
but I see the settings I have set doesn't get activated until the percentage drops under the threshold..
Is this the same with your handsets?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
I think it's only showing notification, but it activates at the threshold you set up.
Still, I would like to have option to turn the notification off.
I am finding that the display timeout changes on it's own from 2 minutes to 15 seconds. What could be causing this?

widgetlocker?
I am using widget locker. I turned on RootHelper, maybe that will keep the lockscreen timeout seperate from the regular timeout.
Also power saver changes it too

I agree with James. I noticed the phone's per saver doing this. It annoyed me so I turned it off and noticed my battery lasted longer.

As I surprisingly found out with my old HTC EVO 3D, there are actually TWO different settings options on the Galaxy Note, which control how long the screen stays on. One setting can be set to 1 minute and the other can simultaneously be set to 30 seconds, without overriding your previous setting. The result is that the lowest setting will always be used. I have no idea why this redundant and counterintuitive feature has been built into Android phones. I am not in front of my phone right now to tell you where to get into your settings to make sure BOTH are set to the same time, but once you do it, your problem should be solved. This was happening to me, too, when I first got my Note. It's no longer happening.
One is (obviously) under Display > Screen time-out.
Found another under Power Saving > Custom power saving settings (after turning on Custom power saving). I could see if you had "Power saving on at" set to its highest setting (50%), then that would override the one under Display very often.
Finished looking around, that's all I see.
I am rooted.
Screen is not dimming, smart stay is off, and timeout has been changed between 15-30 seconds. Phone still does not autosleep. SmartStay is off, tried toggling it as well.
Any suggestions?
Reboot fixed it for me

Same here.
This happens every two days or so.
I'm just paranoid I will fall asleep without knowing about this and have a screen with burn in. Luckily, last night my battery was low and died so it shut off. Otherwise, i'd probably have a status bar burnt to the top of my screen.
I've found the smart stay feature to be flaky at best. I suggest people not use the feature and set a display timeout and adjust ones app settings. I know some ebook programs like to keep the screen on.

I had the same issue but since unlocking, wiping and moving to beans v2 it hasn't come back but we'll see if that lasts.

I'm assuming you are Korean based on your username... If you are playing any Kakaotalk games, including anipang, dragonflight.. so on.. kill that app after you are done playing. That will take care of it. I think that is the reason why reboot cures it.
I would like to wake from screen timeout without using any type of mechanical button (Power or Volume Buttons). I was ideally hoping the proximity sensor with the proper app would work but all the apps I have tried (MANY) have not worked properly on the Atrix 4G (cover proximity sensor screen OFF else ON, maybe with delay option before turning OFF) I would be happy If I could touch anywhere on the screen to wake the screen. My Atrix 4G is running factory 2.3.4 and is rooted and my wife's Atrix 4G phone is running 2.3.6 and has not yet been rooted. Seems like a rock solid working app to perform this functionality should be available for the Atrix 4G/MB860 smartphones?
Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
Don't want to wear out the fingerprint/power button!!!
Regards, Ron
PS-- I would gladly pay a nominal price for a working app (better than wearing out the mechnical switches)
that is not posible

It is possible, but it means it would have to keep the phone in a state of semi-awakedness at all times, never letting it go into deep sleep, thus draining the battery pretty quickly. Also monitoring the sensor constantly, thus draining even more battery. It also means the sensor would emit the faint red light all the time, which many find annoying.
Battery drain will be your best friend.

Pre-warning; I havent tried it. I just saw it a week ago so I'm sharing

Thanks for the replies!!
I am aware the phone could NOT be in "deep sleep power save mode" and work without using either the power or possibly the volume button. A couple of Google Play "Pay Only" apps indicate they can be configured to wake the display using the side volume button (this would at least preclude the use of the power button to wake the display). I assume the volume button would still adjust the audio level? If anyone can comment on how well these apps work on the Atrix 4g, that would save me from purchasing an app that doesn't work as desired. From my understanding, the display uses the lions share of the battery bugdet. There are also apps that claim the display can be turned on by shaking/flipping or using the proximity/light sensors (anyone get any of these apps to work on the Atrix 4G?). The phones battery life should be extended by simply turning off the display. Waking the phone by something other that the power button would just be ONE of my usage models. If I want to get the maximum battery life, I would wake the phone using the power switch and not use any after market apps.
Thanks Again Very Much for your forum posts and any further help would be greatly appreciated.

widgetlocker lets you wake the phone by volume buttons, by disabling the stock lockscreen and replacing its own locker. it doesnt effect the sleep mode but disabling lockscreen may cause problems like unwanted call accepting. widgetlocker can put its locker over the callscreen but it still wont display the calling number. you may first try the app and then decide to buy it

Possibility to wakeup with a shake is solely depends on the kernel implementation.
