Here's the new Market application. It's pretty cool, you can now rent movies and buy books.
Just install through your favorite .apk installer and click upgrade.

Be careful. It's been reported that you can RENT movies (i.e. pay for them), but you can't actually WATCH them if your phone is rooted. I have not confirmed this personally.

Oh okay, I don't have a problem updating my applications, they update automatically. I'll try a google search to see if I can help you guys.
I threw 3 bones to the cause. Paid for a movie, installed video app and got "unable to play on rooted device ". Meh, I got Netflix in its place. ROOTED SIMPLY HONEY 3.9.1 GB 2.3.4

You're welcome guys, I think I have found an answer to the not being able to update applications. If you have updates for apps you've installed manually you won't be able to update the application. The manually installed applications still show up in the "My Apps" section of the market.
And a fix for watching movies
ogdobber said:
you can rent the movie with a rooted device...you just can't watch it (but you can with this trick)
open terminal on phone
Code:
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
mv /system/bin/su /system/bin/mu
close terminal and you will be able to watch rented movies on your rooted device
to revert open terminal
Code:
mu
mount -o rw,remount /system
mv /system/bin/mu /system/bin/su
google movie looks for su by name, easy work around because naming it to mu you still have suid, but rooted apps (as well as google movie) are looking for su "name" as well..with the terminal you can tell it suid is mu
gsript doesn't work on this because it too looks for su on the revert
you can copy the code to a notepad and paste it in terminal so you don't have to type every time

Thanks , work for my U20a ...
I installed the app with adb and root explorer but it seems that even though the first couple of times everything is working properly, then suddenly when I try to launch the app I get a message that an unexpected error has occured and the app shuts down.
Has anyone had the same problem?
The fact that I have app2d installed might have caused this?
Thnx in advance
EDIT I just found out that if I delete the temporary data with titanium backup then the app launches. So I have come to believe that the problem happens if I configure my channel somehow, because now that it isn't configured the app works fine.

How?
The link is for replacing the framework
the installation goes fine and when i open it in the first page it says there is a problem with the network [400]. if i go to search i can find any video i want and see it.
the problem starts when i try to set my channel. i log in to my account and all is well and i close it.
but after that every time i try to open youtube it force closes
so i think it has something to do with the channel subscription

So I recently did 2 things on my Archos 32:
1) Installed the Android Market (link)
2) Did a permanent root on 2.3.26 (link)
Both worked great
My new query:
So Google Voice is missing in the Android Market for me, even when I get the link from Google: There are no matches in the Android Market for the search: pname:com.google.android.apps.googlevoice I'm pretty sure some other apps are missing as well (even after applying the fix in the link)
Is there any way (rooted options included) to get these missing apps in the Android Market? I've read some stuff about a market footprint
Any info would be helpful; thanks!
Take a look at the following thread.
Anyone have a Froyo Archos with full Market Protected App access
The market footprint you're referring to is in post 3. You have to edit the build.prop file and insert the described "footprint" so that the Market thinks your Archos is actually a Galaxy Tab. Word of warning though - even with this, I still couldn't see all apps in the Market. Plus, there have been reports that the Market fix doesn't work as well with the newer 2.3.26 firmware..

Thanks! Looks like I'll need to look at build.prop then.
I also tried MarketEnabler but it didn't seem to do anything on my Archos... maybe I was doing something wrong.
I tried going the SDK route to edit build.prop, but I couldn't get it setup; I might try it in Linux (x64) a little later; Windows 7 (x64) didn't get my anywhere
Thanks for the reply! I'll look into it

Even if you get Google Voice installed, it won't get past the "Change call settings". Or that is what I found. Anyway, over in the Xoom forum they have an edited Voice apk you can install and I am using it.

In my search for a tutorial, I found myself here
I've been able to do all of it, I just need help copying build.prop back over to my system directory. Here's my post from androidforums:
Step 4: Remount your phone's /system directory
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
This temporarily removes the restrictions on /system
Step 5: Overwrite build.prop
With adb shell open, type:
Code:
mv /sdcard/build.prop /system/build.prop

I'm stuck at Step 4. I keep getting a "permission denied" error:

You aren't rooting correctly. After you type su and hit enter, the Archos should bring up a Super User request that you have to accept. Once you have rooted correctly, the cursor block will change from $ to #.
So, here's my second contribution to the Photon 4G community in less than 24 hours. Took some time, some work and a lot of learning but I finally got it down... The camera app from the Droid 3. It looks a lot better than our current app and adds the Panorama picture option (which I'm working on; doesn't work as of yet).
IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE, I AM NOT AT FAULT!
Prerequisites:
You need to be rooted
Have a general idea about ADB
Computer running Windows
Download Modded BlurCamera.apk from here:
http://www.multiupload.com/X7JFD9TAVR
Anything in BOLD tells you what you will be doing
Anything in RED needs to be typed in.
1. Visit this link and follow the directions to Deodex your system:
http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-themes/4620-how-manually-deodex-your-phone.html
2. Place BlurCamera.apk in your Android SDK Platform-Tools Folder (for example; I extracted the sdk to c:\android so my platform-tools folder is in the directory c:\android\platform-tools)
3. Adb push BlurCamera.apk to your sd card
adb push BlurCamera.apk /sdcard/
4. Open a shell as root
adb shell
su
You should now see a # instead of an $
5. Mount /system
/bin/mount -o remount,rw /system
6. Copy BlurCamera.apk to /system/app
cp /sdcard/BlurCamera.apk /system/app
7. Set permissions
Go into Root Explorer and set permissions to rw-r--r--
7. Reboot phone
reboot
And viola! It works!
Please post your results!

FYI - we already have a panorama option. It isn't under the camera settings as you would think, but if you press menu, and select picture modes, you have a panorama option. It works well and stitches the photos together itself.

I got the PS Store that came out for the Tablet S to work on the Play. However, it says "This service is not available in your country/region." I get the same error trying to buy PS1 games from the android marketplace, so I don't know if it is an error just on my phone. I'm posting this just in case it works on anyone else's play. Post your model number & software version. Like so:
Model: R800i
Version: 4.0.A.2.368 with stock kernel
Anyways the APK to the PSStore is here: http://pss.dl.playstation.net/pss/store/apk/PSStore.apk
To get it to work on your Play, you can either extract the file and remove "<uses-library android:name="com.playstation.playstationcertified" />" from the androidmanifest.xml file and repackage/resign it or (only on rooted phones):
1) Download http://www.mediafire.com/?g10lqu35b139mlb
2) Push "com.playstation.playstationcertified.jar" to /system/framework
3) Push "com.playstation.playstationcertified.xml" to /system/etc/permissions
4) Reboot
(If it doesn't work, both files need to be chmod 644 and chown root.root)
Then you can install the APK as is.

Yup, I can do that too. Can tablet owners in America access the store? I tried most other english speaking countries and none of them work. My ultimate goal is purchasing a PS1 game and seeing how the emulator changed.
Is it possible to install a modified apk on an unrooted R800x? I'd like to try it out myself if anyone is willing to attach a working copy for testing.
Note: I'm waiting for a free way to unlock/root my phone, so please bear with my phone's lack for the time being. I'm very willing to test anyting on it that doesn't require root.

-qqplayer (warning, sideloading any video player will break wear mini launcher if you use that, contacted the developer and hoping he will fix it)
-MiXplorer (not in play store, from xda, crashes on exit but otherwise works great, much easier to use as a file explorer than es file explorer because it has list view
-es file explorer (I use it for the music player, text editor and to install apps in one click-can only be done with root-because it is kinda hard to install apps via terminal)
-astro bluetooth module (read my guide thread in the general forum if you want to find out what I use it for, might also help you
Also you can try apps but they will most probably not work if they use any kind of holo theme because AFAIK wear has holo removed.
Thanks for the great tool.
FYI, PerfMon works great.:good:

I have a oneplus one and for some reason it will not allow the store version of android wear to install. Will this apk do the trick?

@DaRusko
yeah i don't know how adb works so this app would be cool. guess i will need to find a thread where they explain how to push apps to watch
@nagasgura
Hey any updates? It won't do any thing. I just rooted my watch unlocked. And your app won't find watch or conect. Im to lazy to use adb. It isnt to hard but a app is easier

I got the tool to work. Tho I used it to push minuum keyboard apk to my watch. but i then used adb in cmd to do the rest of the installation, so yea might as well started there. But now that I have this tool working I can easily push other apk's in the future.
follow this tutorial.

After you extract the zip, then you extract the Android-Wear-APK-Tools zip. Inside the same folder that contains the AndroidWearAPKTools.exe, copy and paste the adb files which I uploaded to my dropbox here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/fztjfh3qq5bftlc/Android-Wear-APK-Tools-adb-files.rar?dl=0
After that it will connect to your watch every time.
