Instructions :
1. Copy Youtube.apk to your sdcard.
2. In command prompt:
a) adb shell
b) su
c) mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock2 /system
d) busybox cp /sdcard/Youtube.apk /system/app/Youtube.apk
e) chmod 755 /system/app/Youtube.apk

I installed the app with adb and root explorer but it seems that even though the first couple of times everything is working properly, then suddenly when I try to launch the app I get a message that an unexpected error has occured and the app shuts down.
Has anyone had the same problem?
The fact that I have app2d installed might have caused this?

EDIT I just found out that if I delete the temporary data with titanium backup then the app launches. So I have come to believe that the problem happens if I configure my channel somehow, because now that it isn't configured the app works fine.

You could try removing the data dir for youtube:
cd /data/data
busybox mv com.google.android.youtube /sdcard/
busybox mkdir com.google.android.youtube
Worked for me.

How?
The link is for replacing the framework
the installation goes fine and when i open it in the first page it says there is a problem with the network [400]. if i go to search i can find any video i want and see it.
the problem starts when i try to set my channel. i log in to my account and all is well and i close it.
but after that every time i try to open youtube it force closes
so i think it has something to do with the channel subscription

1. Download "Terminal Emulator" from the market.
2. Open Terminal Emulator
3. Type

Be careful. It's been reported that you can RENT movies (i.e. pay for them), but you can't actually WATCH them if your phone is rooted. I have not confirmed this personally.

I've heard that too, but i don't know if it has been confirmed yet.
new market is nice but when I try to update an app the only options i have to click on is open and uninstall, anyone know how I can update?

Oh okay, I don't have a problem updating my applications, they update automatically. I'll try a google search to see if I can help you guys.
I threw 3 bones to the cause. Paid for a movie, installed video app and got "unable to play on rooted device ". Meh, I got Netflix in its place. ROOTED SIMPLY HONEY 3.9.1 GB 2.3.4

You're welcome guys, I think I have found an answer to the not being able to update applications. If you have updates for apps you've installed manually you won't be able to update the application. The manually installed applications still show up in the "My Apps" section of the market.

google movie looks for su by name, easy work around because naming it to mu you still have suid, but rooted apps (as well as google movie) are looking for su "name" as well..with the terminal you can tell it suid is mu
gsript doesn't work on this because it too looks for su on the revert
you can copy the code to a notepad and paste it in terminal so you don't have to type every time

If you're on CM7 you can flash Gapps. Or you can extract the vending.apk from CM7 gapps.
Hello i have tried 2 different methods of installing xRecovery.
First i have tried simply using flashtool to install xRecovery, but just gets stuck on Remounting system read-write.
Second i downloaded the zip file of xRecovery (Gingerbread) And put files into the respective folders using root explorer. Still no luck
Am i missing something? Thanks in advance
Yeah, there's two methods regarding how to get xrecovery onto GB does require a bit of youtube watching but i found it the easiest way of doing this 0.3 xrecovery version alone will not give u it you will need an additional zip to obtain it. If you head into the x10 general section look for the sticky how to flash custom roms for noobies (im a noob also) it will tell you step by step to get every working from backing up to xrec to flashing roms to restoring apps there will be 3 youtube vids in the first post vids 1 and 2 will tell you what u need to know the third is mainly for the rom.
like i said there's two ways of doing it the second way which i had to do was via computer using command prompt but as i said watch the vids they have all links on the youtube channel.

Have u tried the method by bluejchip I think his name is to get xrec on? He uses the command prompt method that's how I did it. I think I used xrec 0.2 not 0.3.. I can get the link if u like?

Situation:
-I have a rooted device Samsung Galaxy Ace [GT-S5830L] Android 2.3.4
-I accidentally deleted with Titanium Backup my default browser [Internet 1.0 (1)]
-Therefore I installed Dolphin which is not that bad.
Problems:
-Now wherever I try to watch any youtube video I'm just able to see the loading circle without loading the video.
-I can't use the default browser.
-I lost the voice app to type.
I've tried without good results:
-Use my friends phone [exact same one I have] did a back up with Titanium Back up, copy the backup to my phone and tried to restore.
-I downloaded several [internet.apk] [browser.apk] for my phone and tried to install with Optimize toolbox and from manage applications.

So for the file to be accepted by the phone you need to change the file so it has system access. That feature is built in on most root file explorers

I just tried that and still not working, about the person who recomended Dolphin, that a fare option however there must be something between the browser apk and the youtubr apk cause im not able to load youtube videos...
I've consider getting a ROM but I need a functional ROM and I see a lot of them w/bugs on the camera, wifi, gps, ect... Is there any stable ROM that works over networkbands 900/1800?
Why not re-install your current rom (if you are happy with that) from sammobile via odin perhaps?

If you still have the zip file from your rom, you can copy the original files from it to your phone.
It should be in /system/app (copy both browser.apk and browser.odex). Make sure you put all the correct permissions (mine has all permisions for reading and owner permissions for writing).
Can I get that system internet apk file I also have same problem

- Converting app to user
- Uninstalling system app
- Setting to default installation to internel

and the busybox_v1.19.4-wraithdu-CWM_flashable_install.zip
This 2 files reinstall su to v3.0.3.2 and busybox to v1.19.4-wraithdu possible is busybox reinstall is not needed

Look at my Post there are 2 attachments, su3.0.3.2 and busybox
download it -> copy to your sdcard -> restart your phone in recovery mode -> install the 2 files with the recovery - restart your phone -> try link2sd
I don´t know if busybox is needed but it is better to install because some other root-apps need it

"SEGMENTATION FAUL" error is cause by Superuser SU binary....
here FAQ about Link2SD HERE....
Update your Superuser SU binary...it will fixed your problem....
You can update your su binary within the super user app. Load the app and wish right. You will get this.

Newer Versions of the su bin causes segmentation fault in other apps on my phone so i let him update/downgrade to 3.0.3.2 which works perfect.
I use ICS Stock ROM on my Mini (ST15i)

My problem now that i got boot loops at android logo , and that happened after some play with the screen dbi
I tried to do a factory reset using the default Android Recovery , but the menu appears and no buttons works to Select any item .. no (ok) button you just can scroll up and down!!
so if anyone knows a way to solve this problem please help me..

So with adb you basically need to either push the original build.prop to the phone using the command
adb push build.prop /system
Or create a new one off the one on your phone using command
adb shell cat /system/build.prop > build.prop
Then edit that newly made build.prop on your pc and then push it back with command
adb push build.prop /system
Done. Let me know if you need more help.
All else failed just flash the original Rom again

If its bootlooping then there is a time that it will work just before rebooting. Alternately you can reboot into recovery and mount /system if you haven't changed things besides the dpi since you first flashed, you can attempt to just flash the original Rom you flashed over it. Just wipe dalvik cache.

Once you get it installed then you can just follow my directions in the previous page. Your gonna want to do the adb shell cat /system/build.prop > build.prop method. Keep me posted.
Edit: more easily you can just do this command
adb pull /system/build.prop
Then make you dpi change to the build.prop file on your computer and then push it back with these commands
adb remount
adb push build.prop /system

heey.. i installed every thing and did all the steps to setup adb on ubuntu but after hours of work and search and doing all things found on the net about adb, when i type adb devices the terminal says that adb isn't a command , also tried ./adb devices , and i got errors also even eclipse couldn't start adb and gave me error=13 permission denied what can i dooo.. what gave me some hope that when i typed ( lsusb ) i found the phone identified .. but all i need now is adb ..
unfortunately after i have installed Linux Mint because i had problems with Ubuntu and after installing all i need and got adb worked fine ,
it couldn't read the phone at all not while booting or in the factory mode or in the recovery
