I have CM7, and since it's AOSP, it's got the annoying stock Camera App.
Could anyone suggest the best/better alternative cam app? I miss the sense Camera.

It's a system application, so you're going to have to push them to /system/app with adb or use a file manager such as root explorer to move the desired .apk files to /system/app. When you're done, reboot and it will show up in your app drawer.

You also need to change permissions on the files as well.

Yes on a few phones. DInc2 for example.
I REALLY like a camera app called "Vignette". Great shots, lots of nice effects, can set the volume button to snap the shutter.

I noticed that the HTC sense gallery does not have Picassa integration like the stock gallery does. I got the stock Froyo Gallery3D.apk and installed it and it works fine so I decided to attach here for everyone!
Just download put on sd card, click with astro or the like, choose install with package installer, enjoy Picassa goodness.

As far as I can tell the version in the market is not the official one. It is the gallery from eclair.
I don't know if it really matters or not. I suppose you could pull the apk from any 2.2 rom and it would work fine.

I did. I can no longer send mms. and I dont have a backup. Can some one post the original?
works great... yeah this feature suxed balls on the 1st gen mytouch 3g... I remember CM including it on one of his update and a few days later he updated his rom again with taking it off cuz it wan't stable... But man does this work great on the MT4G

I just set the 3D gallery to default and I used LP to hide the icon for the other gallery. So its still there but you wouldn't know it.

Pull down the iced glacier ROM posted in the development section. You can get the stock one out of there.

If you are interested, to solve this issue, you can simply replace the MMS app you have with the one from AOSP Android 2.2. You can find it in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846113
I changed it to the new one, and it integrates flawlessly with the 3D Gallery as well as everything else on the phone. And, I happen to like it better than the MMS app that came with the ROM.
And then you can actually delete the stock gallery app, and there won't be any adverse effects (for me at least, individual results may vary).

Good find then, thanks for it. I wasn't sure if you posted it because you can't stand the gallery app (like me) or as a fix for this issue. Either way, now people have a link from this thread to fix the issue in case they run into it.
Just wanted to say thank you for this =)
btw, I installed it (it works nicely on the mytouch4g) but I am not sure I want to delete the original gallery (just in case; also cause I haven't set up a nandroid backup simply cause I'm not sure how to) so I just 'freeze'd it with Titanium Backup Pro...that shouldn't mess up anything right? Just curious. Thanks again!

That would be a great idea. I prefer the stock rom camera app, we could also use flash when recording video and the stock panorama was great!

Finally, i found and answer to that problem hehe, i was beginning to think it was only me with this camera zoom issue, and as cool as it is this camera app, it just doesn't work as expected, no zoom, no on/off button for taking pictures, etc. hehe, is there a way to take out the original camera apk from a stock rom and put it in cyanogenmod?

Lol.. I made a thread asking that. No its not possible. Then you'd have to edit the framework.apk or something and switch up a whole bunch of things in order to make the stock one work in CM7.
I had stock camera app working on cm7 you will actually also need to install all the samsung apps

I finally found the Custom AOSP ROM that is good for gaming and that is F1 Galaxy Nexus ROM for Galaxy S2.
Everything is working fine.
Just I'm missing the Samsung stock Filemanager :My Files
So my question is- Does anyone who has MyFiles working on AOSP ROM ??? I searched in Google and XDA but nothing seems to get it working.
I know it requires Sammy Framework but stock Task Manager and Memo seems working on AOSP ROMS.
If anyone has it. Please provide it to me.

yes, cause i use official 4.1 apps and this are some 4.2 apps like new gmail with pitch and zoom, i take a look at the apps and maybe i merge some in my gapps pack.
Just installed the new Clock app. Nice, works great, looks great. Just be sure to delete (backup before) the old clock. It's enough to go to /system/apps an rename the old DeskClock.apk to .xyz as well. If you keep both apps alarm settings will FC. Oh, and reboot after install.
There are more great apps from 4.2, that work great on our Defy.
4.1 and 4.2 don't have big framework changes, that's why most of them had to work.
maybe we need a thread which apps works and which not.

I know its a lot of work, but for your next update can you just make an Aroma, so in 1 zip we have options to flash extras like offline voice recognition files, 4.2 launcher, etc and the option to not flash/uninstall apps we don't want like Google Music, Sound Search, etc?

I don't try that one, but if u look on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1965259 than u can use the camera but photosphere don't work at the moment cause the defy don't had a gyroscope. some dev had to look if we can Handel it with our old sensors. maybe epsy can do it.

Galaxy S guys say it works... they don't gave a gyroscope too. It's really slow, but Photosphere does work on Galaxy S... so maybe you should try it out, and maybe it'll work for you too.

^We need to create 3d axis system for that, gyros essentially give direct 3d axis sys... if some one could mod the magnetometer + accelerometer to get that thing working, then its possible..

extract phone and messaging app from ROM.zip and push it in system/app folder and set same permissions as other system apps

I use leaked Gmail 4.2 for a few weeks now.
Delete data oft Gmail.

Hey so there were some requests for a new thread about the 4.2 camera on our Verizon Note 2, and I am simply heeding that call I have nothing to do with this mod, all that goes to buhohitr, JonMS, tnngng, and anyone else who posted a How-To in the original Root thread. This camera seems to work fine, including sphere, unless we use flash. Here's to hoping someone can get us a working fix! The included link is to the 4.2 zip files required and the How-To steps.

The new 4.2 camera has the sphere feature, which we don't have in the stock camera. In the 4.2 camera, regular picture taking, panoramic, and sphere work, but it seems like most pictures taken with either auto flash or flash on cause the camera app to lock up and FC.

Thanks for putting this here. As far as flash issues go I just took twenty photos of flash on and flash auto had no issues at all. You might want to check your file permissions

I just installed it and ive taken some pictures with it and no problems so far. The panoramic shot is the ****!

thats odd that some people are having that problem and some are not. mine work fine with flash.
did you delete the old camera? i did not, i also have not done any other mods yet. just root and the 4.2 camera
Camera works perfect after first reboot. Flash everything is good. Reboot once more and starts locking up when using flash.

Still not having any issues being reported here and I've rebooted plenty of times. I check the permissions on ALL of the files you installed and make sure you installed ALL of them.

Best way to figure out what the permissions need to be is look at an app's permissions in that folder and make yours the same way.
There is a meta-inf file in teh zip.
instructions do not say what to do with this folder....
anybody know if I touch this at all?
