Yes you can use flashtool. Do you need 1.6 or 2.1 for flashtool?

trata de usar seus, te va a dejar con 2.1 sin problemas.
yo asi lo hise y no tube problemas con movistar.
try whit seus, is 2.1 whitout problems.

First of all, i´m new in your forum guys and as an introduction, my name is christian and I´m from Chile, using SE X10a from movistar.
I have the same problem, but in my case the phone is not capable of using 3G network, it dosn´t browse online content and if you make a call it suddenly cuts out communication while talking.
After 2.3.3 was out, i flashed and my phone became X10i instead of X10a, but nothing changed in network usage, since it continued to navigate without problems, until one random day it had the problem described and stopped the use of 3G. Anyway I flashed to a X10a firmware but it dosn´t solve the problem.
Any ideas on what´s going on?
Mr Puncosorok, do you have the 1.6 firmware you used to rebrand your phone?, i sent you an MP by the way.

Usage:
SEUSDECRYPT.BAT FILE_XXXXXXXX -> That gives you a FILE_XXXXXX.tgz -> Unzip -> Then Untar the File which comes out
If you SEUSDECRYPT the small 64kb File you get directly the loader.sin no need to unzip and untar
All I have is the firmware files right now. I can't get seus or pc companion to work long enough to create the files to decrypt.
Will the decrypter allow me to skip that step?

Thats the number ON the battery, the SI number is printed on the label underneath the battery, just above the serial number of the phone.

Settings > About Phone > Software update
Make sure you're connected to your wifi as the update will be 150mb or so.
Alternatively, you can download Sony Ericsson update Service SEUS and update it that way.
If there is no update available on your carrier then you should probably try debranding - although I'm not sure if it voids the warranty of the phone in your country.

Debranding is basically giving you a generic device rather than for example being on Orange, in which they have put apps on that they want, ( in my case it was traffic tv).
If you have a branded phone then you do not get updates as fast as a generic one

i used bin4rys flashtool to flash the nordic firmware onto my at&t x10a (it worked flawlessly btw) ive been seeing posts saying that because mine was originally an x10a i cant upgrade to 2.1 through pc companion. I also read that 2.1 will mess up my 3g, i have my 3g info written down and can manually put it in without any problems so would i still have a problem?

No, bin4ry says the radios are different and whatnot. You didn't read the other threads. Best to wait and let the devs take a look at the firmwares first rather than blindly flashing.
Go back to a legitimate x10a firmware and wait -- otherwise yes there is a possibility that you wont be able to upgrade through SEUS at all.
-.- well in a way this works out cause now i finally have "allow non market access" as an option. Soooo our best option is to wait for a flashtool for 2.1?

It does NOT. You can flash your phone with Nordic but you can NOT go anywhere from there on. Because SEUS will tell you that you have the latest FW and PCC says that can not download the file for you phone,

i have the x10flash but idk how to use it, i used the nordic flash bin4ry made yesterday and it bricked my cell, i reran it and it fixed my cell, but still i was s.o.o.l. because seus and pc companion wouldnt help, so idk what to do (yea i shouldve looked this stuff up before blindly flashing i know)

flashing SI in different phones is OKAY as long as you flashed in specific unit (like sk17i_4.0.4 for mini pro).. If your SI released this mean that you can now update tru SUS and PC companion with lock bootloader

It's not that a .ftf file will only work on certain SIs. Just, some SIs will get the update earlier. A generic firmware works fine on every phone. As long as it's meant to work on that model, of course.

Recently I had my xperia with android 2.3 unlocked 'cause i wanted to switch my service provider (I live in Mexico, btw) but ever since then the phone's been having constant freezes and if the phone unfreezes I get a message saying that com.sonyericsson.homescreen has failed.

If u unlock ur phone don't repair with pc companion, it will brick ur phone.only flash ur stock fw with flashtool.
