Hey all. I have a Optimus T. I had flash to openOptimus rom. Everything was working great. I original made a backup before I flashed (it seems like its has corrupted) and after I flashed. So after testing I decided to switch back to stock. I tried using LG support tool but it seems to have made things worse?
When I boot up, I see: LG logo, stick together from t mobile, engerystar, cpu type..., and lastly the android characters from openOptimus. After a few seconds, it reboots in the same cycle. I can't even seem to boot in setup anymore (hold home+vol_down).
I'll be happy with any working rom.
Please help me out here. Thanks in advance.
edit: title should say, never ending loop.
Can you boot into emergency mode?
If you can, you should be able to flash a KDZ rom. I think its "Back" button + vol down + power.
Although, hard reset should work. Try taking out the battery for a while, put it back in. Pres and hold Home+VolDown and press the power button. and keep holding the home and voldown.
That is exactly what I did earlier and now its fully working again. Thanks!

Im about to give up. I can get recovery thru adb, quick boot app, rom manager, etc. I still have yet to boot recovery manually. I want to be ready for cm6, which means I need a manual recovery method in case my vibrant freezes up or bootloops so I can restore backup. I've tried every vol-up vol-down combo I could find. Still, after 2 weeks, no manual recovery. I don't want to go back to the unrooted life, but without a manual recovery method, I dont want to chance freezing up. Is there any other method of getting to recovery if the phone freezes up after flashing a rom?
I don't see how that's even possible... Just to make sure you are:
1. Turning off the phone
2. Holding the two volume buttons down
3. Then pressing the power button along with the volume buttons until the "vibrant" logo comes up, goes away and comes back and then letting go of all buttons...
It's pretty easy to do it... But if you did that and you are still getting nothing I suggest you do a factory reset and try again...
If not, try and take it in to a T-Mobile store... This is a function all stock phones should have, and if you can't go into it, that's a defect.
I hold my phone horizontal when powered off.
Both thumbs on the volume rocker.
Press and hold power and volume buttons.
When the Vibrant logo comes up, release power, keep holding the volume rocker.
I've never had an issue. It does seem like a lot of new posts popping up with this issue though. I use Quick Boot now that I am rooted. I also use Clockwork Recovery too.
There's definately a problem with some phones. I had one that wouldn't boot to recovery or download using the buttons. I took it in and swapped it out, and when I tried the new phone in the store I got it first try. It's just not that tricky to do.
Well, after another whole day of research and attempts, I give up. Sending the phone back and tmobile is shipping me another. Only problem is I cant try it out for recovery first. Hope this one works out.
HELP!!! I installed shostock rom that worked well for sometime….however yesterday when I went running, I was listening to audio and at the same time I was using an app called Mapmyrun, The phone then suddenly just died. No matter what I pressed it wouldn’t come on. Eventually it did come back on after I pressed the volume up button along with the power button and the home button together and at the same time putting the battery back in. Since then I can’t make a call without using the speaker and while trying to play audio, the audio sticks. I decided I needed to reinstall rom or even try a new one but discovered the phone will not boot into clock work mod. When I try the phone just goes dead again and I then have to do the whole volume up button along with the power button and the home button together and at the same time putting the battery back in again. How do I get CWM again so I can wipe?
So holding down the power button doesn't pull up the boot to Recovery option?
What version of Shostock are you running?
XWLP7-SHOstock2-v2.2.2
Now I've actually got it to go to cmw by holding volume up and down together while pressing the home button and replacing the battery simultaneously. When Itry to reboot however it just goes dead and I have to do the whole process again. How do I get it to reboot?

What phone do you have?
EDIT: XWLP7? I9100?
You're flashing a I777 rom on a I9100?
Alright, you get closer.
At first you said you lost CwMR, then you described how to get into CwMR a totally wrong way, then you got in CwMR eventually.
I suggest you spend time and read more on those threads created by creepy. He shows you everything from how to get into the Download mode, how to get into the 3e, .......
Also, fundamental thing, do list your device info if you want more useful help.
Back to your stage, you said you got into CwMR successfully, then reboot???
Have you done anything when you got there? reflashing? wiping? ...... or just got there and reboot and did nothing else?
Hi. I am desperate. Two weeks ago I had to remove the power button of my S3 because the phone kept rebooting.
Now, I installed a ROM that ended into bootloops, so I need to enter into recovery mode. With the power button, this would be easy, however since I don't have it, I don't know what to do. I installed Boeffla kernel and Validus ROM when I got the boot loop.
To turn the phone on, what I did was to remove the battery, put it again, and then plug the phone for one second and unplug it. I tried pressing down volume + home while doing that, and it doesn't change anything. The pone will simply try to boot the ROM.
Is there any way to enter into recovery mode without a power button? Otherwise, I will have to throw my precious S3 to the trash, and I definitely not want that! Please help!
Thanks in advance.
Finally, I managed to fix it by performing adb reboot recovery while the phone was loading the ROM (during the ROM animation).
Nice tip ! Good to know and big thanks for your own reply.
Turn on phone - boot logo shows up, stays there for a few second, then it reboots. It never went past it. So it never enters the fancy boot animation part
What I tried :
Tried to boot into TWRP so I can restore a backup, but now I suddenly couldn't enter TWRP, it's like it doesn't even exist suddenly
Flash all sorts of boot.img, no hope
Flashtool reflash a ftf, and nope. Still stuck at the boot logo
What did I do? Well I tried to undervolt further my kernel, bad idea. Though I didn't expect the effect to be this severe. ROM was stock MM (Yes I did tried to reflash back one of my older kernels, didn't do shyt)
The phone does show signs of life i.e LEDs, vibrate.
Oh and offline charging doesn't work too now, it just reboots as if I'm trying to boot it up
Any help/suggestion would be appreciated (cuz nothing I searched in the forum seemed to do any good for me yet)
EDIT: Brought it to the shop - said was the button flex cable (like what in the hell of all the other effing parts of the phone this thing can cause such a pain of a problem?!). Didn't got it replaced (effing 1 third the price of what I bought this phone, though they got it to boot again but I'm not rebooting it for I am not really sure if it'll enter another bootloop when I reboot..)
@AndyPhoenix9879 when phone is OFF could you try to press and hold "volume down" + "volume up" + "power" button for more than 30 seconds. do in exact order. Then try to start your phone again. If not start reflash stock firmware then try again. If still not start do procedure with 3 buttons again. Repeat several times, phone should boot properly.
I have same situation with my phone during one of testings and this was only way to repair phone.

Somehow de-attaching the flex cable for the buttons did the trick... I haven't did that key combination though, will keep that in mind next time Thanks

When this happened to you, were you able to boot into TWRP though? The problem came back T-T
EDIT : Deattached it again and reattached, working again rofl
Sometimes was possible to boot TWRP, sometimes not. I reinstall Android ROM and TWRP, root it again and since then no problem. Pressing of three buttons in order do factory reset of phone and it helps. In your case if reattaching of buttons helps maybe some of them are faulty and stick from time to time.
thank you u saved my phone

I TRIED YOUR METHOD ONLY FOR ONE TIME ..............................OLA IT WORKED.
I tried flashing device specific system img using terminal commands still it got stucked in boot loop . this procedure worked for me
Good , it was only working procedure for me also.
Noticed quite a few threads re this, have had the prob myself.
Found a simple fix, while trying different things...
Hold ALL buttons down at once (vol dn + vol up + pwr button). Keep them held down for about a min or two. Phone will respond and you'll be able to shut it off. It takes a while to respond.
Cheers
Thank you!
I've added this to the US998 Pie KDZ thread. That KDZ is very wonky. It's the only Pie people have problems flashing. Probably because LG has not yet released Open Market US998 and the one we are using is technically for U.S. Cellular US998.
I had no trouble flashing it myself -- on my backup V30+(former LS998) going straight from Nougat (never updated, it was my backup phone) to Pie through Dev Patched LGUP Refurbish mode. But lots of other people seem to have problems.
On my daily phone, I'm still on rooted stock Oreo with Magisk and Xposed mods.

Hi, @AsItLies, I have tried but my phone still keeps bootloop, so could you please describe it more detailed? Can you enter fastboot or rec then? If possible, please come to see this: Help! bootloop per 5 sec, cannot enter rec, download or fastboot

I think it's pretty clear, what I did and it worked in my situation(s):
There are 3 buttons right? Vol up, Vol dwn, and pwr.
Press all 3, at the same time, keep them pressed until the phone responds. It can take quite a while.
The last time I used this was after flashing LOS17, but then flashed a 19.x version of Magisk... (that's the wrong version of Magisk for Q Roms btw), resulting in phone stuck on boot logo, wouldn't budge.
I honestly have never tested exactly 'how long' it takes to respond, just that it does eventually respond and are then able to get to recovery etc. I can say time wise, if you hold them down and no response after a few minutes, then it's probably not going to work in your situation.
good luck

Oh, I'm just a little confused if you are talking about powering off/shutting down the phone entirely or instead changing the status of logo sticking and then shutting off with extra operation. My phone was suffering automatic reboot per 5 second, so I cannot recognize any other response than that. Thanks for your patience, but I just want to know something more to see if this method works when the phone is almost bricked. It seems you could enter rec or at least download mode, so maybe you had performed force reboot.
Hope further confirmation.

Hmmm I think you may be over thinking this a bit. All that happens (for me) is the phone responds (it gets out of the loop). Then, do whatever you want (shut down, recovery, etc etc).
I wouldn't suggest trying to reboot system again, as you already know that won't work...
All I can say is, if you tried the above and held the buttons, and nothing happened, then I don't know what else you can do. Sorry. Hopefully you can find a way.
Just in case someone is having problems entering download mode while in this bootloop, I'll explain how I applied AsltLies method:
First I held all buttons at the same time, no matter how many times the phone restarted, I still held them
After a while, a white screen with the MEID or IMEI info showed up, this is when the phone stopped bootlooping and I released the buttons.
Then, I CONNECTED the phone to the pc, after that I held VOL UP+POWER BUTTON, this would make the screen go black eventually, and when that happened, I inmediately released the power button but not the VOL UP button, and the phone entered into fully working download mode.
I hope this helps someone.
