[Q] SMS force close on MIUI 1.7.8 - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having a problem where the SMS app FCs whenever i get a text. I've tried using other SMS apps such as Go, but they still aren't coming in. Is there a way to reinstall the SMS part without just reflashing and starting over? Everything else seems to be working well so i don't want to rock the boat, but texting is the main use for my phone :-/

[Q] Gmail app not sending emails?

I've searched for an answer but couldn't find one.. my gmail app won't send any emails. It just says "sending" forever. I'm using a rooted vibrant on stock 2.1 rom, with JAC's kernel.
There have been a few people myself included experiencing this sporadically but I haven't seen a fix or a reason why it's doing this just yet.
Sent from my awesome Vibrant using XDA App
I have yet to be able to actually send an email via Gmail on my phone. I can receive them all day long, but the times I try to compose a message, they just say "sending" forever.
Also, I have noticed that when i receive a message and delete it, it doesn't actually delete it from my Gmail. I have to log into the webmail or use my desktop.
I'm running the stock rom, rooted.
I used to have this happen on my g1 frequently, haven't had it happen on my vibrant yet though. Typically when it would happen on my g1, I would go into the google apps and clear all the data. Couldn't just do it on gmail either, had to do the other google apps too for whatever reason, then it would work again.
Good luck, it's pretty annoying.
Try k9. It's a bit slow at times but it's pretty solid. Best email app I've found yet. I use it for msn, live, gmail, yahoo and my company email.
Honestly I'm pretty disappointed in the stock email apps that came with this phone. I think they're kinda garbage. Apparently my Sidekick '08 was better for that, not to mention the lack of IM.

This happened to me yesterday for the first time. I chalked it up to the gmail servers having issues. But as soon as I plugged in the charger the emails went out. Maybe if battery is low it won't send email? It didn't tell me it wasn't going to send them, it just didn't send them.
I find that I have to go to gmail and manually send each one from the outbox, they still say sending but they actually do send after doing that, because the recepient always says they get it.
So for example, if you send a pic from gallery, make sure you go to gmail after, go to the outbox then click on the mesage and then click send.
* To get to outbox go to gmail then click menu > labels
Sucks but works till we get froyo yo
i'm on a Samsung captivate running the leaked jh3 firmware. It's rooted and running SuperRooter and circle clock.
I noticed that after reflashing to the stock jh3 gmail would send
After installing superrooter gmail would send
After installing circle clock gmail would send
But after I backed up apps with titanium backup it stopped working. I think TiBU is causing an issue for me.
Anyone else have TiBU in your problems some how?
Update: Got it working
I did this:
Settings>Applications>Manage Applications, home button then filter, select all. Next Select gmail, clear data and clear cache. Then do the same with gmail storage.
Now it works!

This fixed it for me as well. I am unsure of what caused it to not work in the first place, though.
nice, clearing cache/data worked for me. i was gonna reflash my phone to stock and start from scratch. this saved me a ton of time. +1

my gmail is having the same issue as here, has anyone found a better solution to the problem then clearing the data as that deletes the currently stuck sending gmails.....
also I cant do the process above if its in a conversation, does anyone know how to open a sending gmail when it has all the other responses attached to the top of it??? that process onnly works for individually sent mails, not "replied" mails that bring other messages with it into the outbox.
anyone know how to detach it from the others or even open the data files to remove text using some sort of tool???
bump for some possible resolutions to force the message to send and or view the message to copy text...m even a wayto view data from it so clearing data wontclear message tryingto be sent???
please got a long, important email i need sent...
Seriously doubt this is just a Vibrant issue as it would happen A LOT to me with my MT3G. So far, knock on wood, it hasn't happened with the Vibrant.
I have the captivate running cog2.2 and deleting the cache under "manage applications" worked for me. I was going crazy! Thanks for the help!
I have Titanium Backup and actually had to restore my ROM with ROM Manager and a couple of apps from Titanium Backup and developed this problem. Clearing data and cache under the Gmail App and Storage + Reboot fixed the problem.
Danger
I too have been having issues with emails (and now SMS?) messages stuck in "sending..." mode. I had several emails from a month ago that I just now noticed didn't send, so I backed up gmail, cleared data, restored the emails and tried to send them individually. On the plus side, my emails did send.
On the minus side, some of them had pictures and my phone took the liberty of sending the wrong pictures from my camera (I was "sharing" pictures from the camera app). So to be safe, just delete the emails!
Dangerzone!
bee tee dubs, I'm using Axura 2.2.9.0

[Q] Pop3 Email Issues

I've been having this problem for a few months now and it crosses multiple ROMS.
I have my work email sent to my Eris using a POP3 account. Sometimes it works fine and will automatically download my messages at the set interval. More so than not, when I open my email it's trying to load messages and the little status circle keeps spinning away. The emails never download. I typically go to menu / account settings / incoming settings / and click next. Sometimes it works and my emails will load but normally it will prompt a force close. When I open my email after the FC it will load my messages. then a few hours later it will stop auto loading them again. Sometimes my email works great for a day or two but then back to the same problem. Most days I have to go through the menu steps each time I want to refresh my mail.
This first started happening when I switched from CELB 2.6 to 2.9. I've tried multiple version of CELB, Nonsensikal and Froshedyo and all still have the same problem.
I always wipe both factory and dalvik multiple times when flashing a new ROM.
I've also started removing any data on my SD card offline between wipes so the card is empty for the new ROM.
One thing I also noticed is that when I flash a new ROM, the wallpaper I used for the last ROM always appears again with the new ROM. And at one point when I switched from CELB to Nonsensikal, my trackball still lit up for all of my notifications. Nonsensikal shouldn't light the trackball for SMS.
Any ideas on what I can try to completely clean out my phone so it works properly??

Have you tried the app K-9 Mail in the market? It's a much better mail client, IMHO.

If you don't want your settings and apps to repopulate when you fresh install a new Froyo ROM, skip setting up your Google account when you go through the initial setup. Then you can give your credentials the first time that you open the Market app, and you should have a default install phone - no downloaded settings, no downloaded apps.
There is also a question that's asked as you go through the setup that asks if you want to back up your settings. I can't remember if saying no does not restore anything that is stored. However, I do know that if you do not authenticate at setup, you won't download stored settings and apps.
Thanks for the info Doogald. I just downloaded K-9 and will give it a try for a few days to see if it helps. I removed my account info from the stock email just to be safe.
I didn't realize it was Google saving my background image along with my apps. It's not a problem. I just wasn't sure if it was related to the email issue.

Can't send or receive MMS...

Okay, so I use GoSMS Pro. I used it with the stock messaging app for a while, but then when I rooted and such and got Titanium Backup, I thought I'd be smart and freeze the stock app (since it was basically useless to me). I noticed that GoSMS wouldn't auto delete messages though, so I unfroze the app even if it seemed like it was just wasting space. But I also read later that uninstalling/freezing the stock app made MMS messages get screwed up, so I tried sending one and receiving one from a friend and indeed mine do not work now...My APN settings seem to be correct. The stock app is unfrozen and works otherwise...but my MMS is still screwed up. What can I do?
EDIT: Okay I figured it out. If you delete the non-stock SMS app you use, it seems to magically make things work again. I just deleted GoSMS and then my MMS worked. I'm sure re-installing GoSMS would work fine, but I happened to install Handcent this time. Everything still seems to work. Sorry for the topic! Someone can delete this, or close it if you think it could help others.

[Q] Stock Messenger keeps crashing

I am on Meanrom 6.5. Messenger will crash almost daily, and all of my messages will be deleted. Sometimes the messages will just delete themselves without it crashing. This has happened on UREVO rom also. I also have the new firmware but still on ICS, with original HBOOT and TWRP, I am wondering why this may be? I have messages set to not auto delete. I do NOT have any other messenger apps. I keep losing my saved drafts which have a lot of my comedy routines and idea's on.
Anyone have any idea why it keeps crashing?

[Q] SMS Crashes Phone

All of sudden I've been having issues with SMS crashing messaging apps. I regularly use Hangouts, though I tried using Google Messenger as well to fix this issue. It seems that whenever I open a conversation that involves SMS, the app will say that it has stopped. However, Hangout conversations and MMS(group conversations) don't crash the app. Any ideas on how I can fix this issue without wiping the messages?
I do have root and a custom recovery available if a fix would involve it. This is on a 1stG Moto X on 4.4.4

It sounds like something corrupted your sms data base. My advise would be to use an app to back them up then wipe the data of sms app to clear it out and test. Them restore and test again. This happens when people restore sms logs.
