So i have been out of the loop for a month or so..really like the roms with sense 3.0 stuff..however i found that it took forever to charge the battery and that was something i couldnt deal with so i went back to froyo..i was wondering if any of the newer roms or kernels have addressed the issue? Well if you include the AOSP gingerbread ROMs then yes. If you're only talking about sense ones, I have no idea.
I think most of the newer kernels have fixed the charging issue. I have run CM7 rc1.2 and gingertheory 5.0 and both have charged just fine for me. The slow charging issue drove me crazy so I can say these roms are charging just fine. I usually do a full charge and wipe the stats after as a personal preference but the charging speed great.

The first leaked kernels had the slow charge issue. Any of the newer ones will have that issue fixed.

I guess the next question would be, what is a newer one? I still see this problem frequently stated in even recent ROM updates.

Not really. Even IMO's newest kernel still has issues with charging.

Concur. Don't mix the kernel charging issue with a rom.
Every kernel I've tried has the slow charging. Reboot while charging and it's fixed.

Since I've completely wiped then installed Gingeritis 1.0 I've had no more charging issues and the battery life is good. When I tried to add a battery mod I got the charging problem back. I restored prior to the mod and battery life and charging is back to good.
I have Bamf Sense 3.0 RC2 with the stock kernal it came with. WORKS GREAT but the battery life on RC1 is HORRIBLE. it drains 24/7 is it the kernal or radio or rom that causing it to suck. It also charges Very slow.

It could be a combination of things, but more than likely, not the ROM itself. Imo came out with his latest GB kernel, which corrects the slow charging issue. You can also try using the speedtweak script to set on 'battsaver' which will underclock and not overclock to save battery.
Of course, there are the standard settings such as screen brightness and sync settings that also affect battery life. 4G is a tremendous battery hog even on the best ROM. Try to stay on Wi-Fi or if not downloading, 3G.

1. going in and out of calls is laggy
2. on call (most other roms too) battery drians 1-2% every minute

Negative, it comes with dreamkernal.
Install 184mhz GB from Imo's thread. Running amazing on my phone with RC2.

i had the same problem with battery life on this rom. i loved the look and the feel of it but 5 hours wasnt working for me. i did a lot of tweaks with wifi only, 3g only, brightness and auto sync, but still nothing changed. I switched over to gingerth3ory v4.2 last night charged to 100% with a battery calibration and running on 14 hours. with all the roms that i have flashed my phone tends to stay the same as far as setting.
It really seems as if you just have to use whatever runs best on your phone. I've heard nothing but people loving battery life on AOSP alpha ROMs so far and when I load them my battery sucks down like a champ. On the BAMF Stripped V1.8 my battery is pretty damn good. I'd just try out whatever ROM you like and see what has the best results for battery life on YOUR device.

It really isn't that big at all. I felt the same way when it came out and I saw pictures of others with it on. But when you actually get it, its isn't bad at all, and I have grown to like it more because it helps when holding the phone in landscape view so much more. Plus the fact of knowing I can do whatever I want with my phone, all day, and make it through with no problem. This is also being OC'd to 1.6 24/7

I couldn't of said it better myself. The extended battery really isn't that bad. And knowing I can do w/e I want all day and make it home is more than worth the cost and added size!

With the amount of battery threads that come up on this site it is surprising you haven't bumped into the routine of downloading betterbatterystats and seeing what is keeping your phone awake. You should also see if this happens on a fresh install with NONE of your apps installed. Completely stock with your contacts synced.
your issue sounds reasonable my device was awake on the 4/29 build, its best to talk about nightly builds in the discussion thread,charge it up and see whats keeping it awake

Cyanogen9 is still deep in beta, that means it isn't finished, that means if you have a problem it's because the ROM isn't perfect. Why would you make a forum post about this? See this. While this isn't currently a "what's the best ROM" thread, the very nature of your question will result in the same debate those types of threads tend to generate.
Someone could really like a ROM and suggest it to you, and you try it, and you might decide it sucks. Try ROMs out yourself until you find one you like. Don't be lazy.

Missed that, did you?
3g, wifi,... All work fine, after I did a full factory reset and flashed v2.2 as an update coming from 2.1 on my international version GS2.
The issue that popped up is, that, while the phone is off, the charging animation seems to be gone and replaced with a yellow text saying 'charging! ??/100' so I can't really see the progress anymore
But when it's turned on charging still works like normal, and it does charge since it's 100% after a night of charging in deep sleep.
For this issue reinstalling the ROM did not seem to help (Other than that 2.2 just runs awesome).
Any information on how to restore the animation would be really helpfull.
I think that is kernel related... Try flashing a different one and see how it goes..

Yes it's kernel related thing, me too had the same problem before. You may try some other kernels recommended with the rom

try siyah ver3.3.1 it also gives good batt life the way CM9 and also can be tweaked using extweak app from market

I had the same problem a few months ago, flashed a kernel that i hadn't really read up on.
I flashed siyah kernel and no problems since, haven't had any issues with siyah kernel as of yet either!
Siyah battery life with the default profile on seems comparable to CM9. Is it true Siyah will stop releasing for gs2 and will only focus on gs3?

had the same issue and i just flashed Siyah and problem fixed. But just today i dont know why or how when phone is off and instead of showing the little circles moving when charging off I have just like the reflectuion or shadow of the green battery. just weird the phone seems normal no issues just some drop calls but i just wana gp back as before
Maybe try flashing it again using the same procedure as with a rom (wipe cache, flash, wipe dalv...)?
Which ROM has the best battery life? I would say eclipse but I'm not sure.

truthfully theyre all about the same. some people happen to see better batter lifes with different roms. some claim cm10 has the best, other cm9, even others who say eclipse. id say eclipse and cm9 have the best life with the best usability.
Well I'm on cm9 currently but I am going to try out eclipse since I have a bunch of games and cm9 is too slow but when I had eclipse it rarely became slow with games

I LOVE CM9 but it became somewhat a little laggy when opening apps to the extant that it froze again hey I'm a flash whore so as I'm typing this i am RSD'n my phone and going to go back to cm9 and give it another try , one question to this but when I charge my phone through a wall charger it happens to only last a couple hours around lets say 3 hours but when i charge it through my usb cable connected to my computer the battery can last up to 9 hours so just wondering if anyone knows why this happens?
