3g, wifi,... All work fine, after I did a full factory reset and flashed v2.2 as an update coming from 2.1 on my international version GS2.
The issue that popped up is, that, while the phone is off, the charging animation seems to be gone and replaced with a yellow text saying 'charging! ??/100' so I can't really see the progress anymore
But when it's turned on charging still works like normal, and it does charge since it's 100% after a night of charging in deep sleep.
For this issue reinstalling the ROM did not seem to help (Other than that 2.2 just runs awesome).
Any information on how to restore the animation would be really helpfull.
I think that is kernel related... Try flashing a different one and see how it goes..

Yes it's kernel related thing, me too had the same problem before. You may try some other kernels recommended with the rom
Thanks, now that you mention it, this is the first version with CM9 kernel instead of siyah.
Loving the battery life on CM9 though .

try siyah ver3.3.1 it also gives good batt life the way CM9 and also can be tweaked using extweak app from market
Flashed Siyah 3.3.1, and got a nice green animated battery filling up while I charge. Thanks!
Any extweaks settings recommended to get the battery/performance comparable to cm9?

well really glad ma8 i was of some help to u
have the default settings and see for batt life with a cpl of cahrge cycles first
Had the same problem
I had the same problem a few months ago, flashed a kernel that i hadn't really read up on.
I flashed siyah kernel and no problems since, haven't had any issues with siyah kernel as of yet either!
Siyah battery life with the default profile on seems comparable to CM9. Is it true Siyah will stop releasing for gs2 and will only focus on gs3?

had the same issue and i just flashed Siyah and problem fixed. But just today i dont know why or how when phone is off and instead of showing the little circles moving when charging off I have just like the reflectuion or shadow of the green battery. just weird the phone seems normal no issues just some drop calls but i just wana gp back as before
Maybe try flashing it again using the same procedure as with a rom (wipe cache, flash, wipe dalv...)?

how is that possible. i used firefox and message app, then it suddenly rebooted, after starting up again i lost 30% (!) of akku.
litening 6.1 kh3, nimphetamine 2.1.3
thanks for every help
Transmitted from the galaxy "S2" using a Lite'ning
Got the same problem in the past two weeks for a few times.
The device rebooted, then accu percentage goes down 10 % or more, then the percentage goes UP! sometimes to the percentage it was before the reboot.
The device rebooted when doing nothing special, sometimes it reboots if it laid on the desk.
What to do now?
Kernel: speedmod t40 (but happened also with ninphetamine 2.0.5)
Rom: Lite'ning 6.1
don't know if it happened with stock rom, flashed litening two times to test is. but doesn't work.
I'll replace mine next week.
Any other suggestions?
@OP, try switching to a different kernel and see if that solve the problem. I was previously using ninphetamine and have the same problem as you. Worst is it auto-reboot too! After switching to stock kernel, everything is now fine.

Did you switch back to CF-Root (Stock?) or back to stock Rom with stock kernel?
Thanks, see if this works.
I've noticed that this is quite common with this phone. Also note that plugging in a USB jig will also decrease the overall battery percentage for some reason. I'm guessing all this is normal, the OS just redetects the battery levels upon startup. Try calibrating your batteries guys!

try one of these kernels. The "Workaround Edition" versions might be worth a go.Read a bit first as it tells you that they are there incase you have problems with the release version.

Did a calibration just 2 days ago and today the problem is back again. But I'll replace it anyway because I've another bug. If i knock the device on my hand then it turns off completely. I've seen this bug on youtube.
But if the battery problem persists on the new device I'll try another kernel.
Me also having the same problem but fixed it by using Lightng Rom 6.1 and calibrated my battery properly ofcourse
Replacement will arrive on monday via DHL express. Then I'll test if it's again with the new device.

I'll switch to LeoMar with CF Root 4.1 when my new SGS2 arrives tomorrow.
Lite'ning is dead for now. So won't use it anymore if there's no further progress on that rom.
You should test if it works either with CF Root and LR6.1 or another Rom with Ninph. Kernel and see if this works in any combination.
First of all i appologize for not posting this in the right area, it wouldnt allow me to post in MIK's thread.
Ever since i installed miks stable rom my phone randomly shuts down and all the buttons blink, then i have to take my battery out, restart and the phone works again. It takes days for it to happen sometimes.
I am not running out of battery, it could happen with 70% battery. once the restart takes place everything works fine again.
is this my battery or the rom ?
I installed frankos kernel to see if that helps.
any advice would be appreciated.
Sounds like a kernel panic, perphaps too much OC?
Posted or Swyped from either my SGS or Optimus T
i didnt OC at all man, i used the stable MIK rom with the default kernel no OC what so ever.
im tried resetting battery stats and francos kernel, any advice, anyone ?
Hey guys!
I know some thread has been created about the hot Galaxy S II issues, but I have a different experience.
The first time I flashed my phone to ICS, my phone was really hot, and that was really unusual when I used GB before. I was sick of my battery was draining, and my phone was hot, I switched back to GB Checkrom, and guess what? The phone was still hot.
First I thought I could be the rom, but I tried different kernel to see how it is going on when I had ICS, thereafter I switched back to Checkrom GB, and I used NEAK kernel, which I had good experiement, but my phone was still to damn hot, and I reflashed second try, which was Siyah Kernel. Still to hot, now I'm using SLIM ICS, and my phone is hot! What is going on??? Have I been flashing to much, and damaged my hardware or something?
When I'm taking a phone call, or browsing a bit on the net, or even listening to music, charging or standby, still too hot! Any ideas how to reduce the temperature of my phone?
Thanks!
Did you allow the phone to have a few complete battery recharging cycles after each time you flashed another rom? Mine gets hotter right after a new Rom is flashed, after few cycles goes back to normal.

1: hope you wiped when you went from GB to ICS and again when ICS to GB
2: change your modem, or better do a full wipe and flash a stock GB ROM.

Yup I was like u asking questions here about HEATING effect of SGS2.. But let me explain u wy i got back... When I bought my phone last month 13th I couldn tolerate unrooted phone.. So rooted and installed a custom ROM... U wont believe me while calling i couldnt hold it on EAR! It was that hot... Even if my young bro plays a game or watches a movie it used to get burn like hell..
1. I tried Siyah Kernel My phone was HOT!!(NO hard feelings for Siyah )
2. I tried Fluxi Kernel viola heating effect gone!! But still the phone used to heat up after 20 minutes of continous usage. I mean heavy usage like 3G...
3. Finally tried KI4 modem now the real action started no heat even after heavy usage!!
Dont know whether these things might work on ur phone(In theory must work ) But keep trying different kernel and modems till u come to know this heat is tolearable before that

Hi
Last night i installed the [ROM][AOSP][JB][4.1.1][STABLE] SuperNexus - I9300 - BUILD 1 on my Galaxy S3 device and i noticed my battery is draining out like crazy. Cell Standby and Screen are using more than 40% each.
When i was using Ice Cream Sandwich i had the same problem but after installing the battery fix it all worked so tried the fix on JB and nothing.
Is there any other fix or solution for this?
Thanks.
No fix for this until cm sorts it. Live with it or go back to ics I'm afraid mate

That is not repeat not a battery fix if you read the post it fixes a misreported figure only .
battery drain is user start with Better Battery Stats and look for wakelocks .
Battery requires five days use from flashing a new rom .
jje
Screen will always use 40%+ unless you aren't using your phone.

Running the same build myself and experienced an 18% drop last night on standby with Wi-Fi on over 7 hours, i have flashed the latest Siyah kernel update today and ive every confidence this will increase battery life as when i checked the kernel wakelocks this morning the wakelocks were big, the CM kernel i believe is the main culprit in this instance.
Also take into consideration any apps / widgets you have which update and any sTuff you rarely or never use freeze in Titanium backup and also go into advanced in Wi-Fi and set to never or only when plugged in and this will make a difference.
And finally don't use Juice Defender or any other battery saving apps as they use up more battery than they save!

I installed syiah kernel s3-v1.5beta5 over CWM yesterday and still no change, Cell Standby is now using 70% while screen dropped to 7%. I will
now try to disable all automatic updates.
After installing [ROM][AOSP] [4.1.1] Liquid JellyBean Beta 1.1 battery works pretty good without even installing kernel 1.5beta4.
Cell standby dropped to 37% and Screen to 27%
I must say this ROM works faster and adds a few cool options for personalization.

- I recommend you to go to stock or modified ICS , simply functioning Roms and stable .
- JB you can flash it just for fun , still under construction and testing , can't litterly judge it .
You may want to try different modems. Cell standby is mostly not influenced by the ROM but your reception and the flashed modem.

My operator is Movistar from Spain and i am currently outside of the country. I flashed my S3 to JB after leaving the country and now i have no reception, can this be the reason why Cell Standby is always around 70%?

I am using this Rom as well and i must say it`s very good. Have a lot setup possibilities, and runs very smooth. For me i`ts the best JB Rom, better than SuperNexus. Just have the one issue - camera!
Hi,
I have a problem when i use any ICS rom with any version of siyah kernel, my phone always switches off at random times and i have to pull the battery to boot up again.....i usually wake up in the morning to find it off and with most of the battery life drained.
Every time i flash a rom i do the usual clearing the data/cache/dalvik/superwipe and kernel cleaning script and it still shuts down.
I have been using Phenomenal kernel instead and that works perfect and never closes or experience battery drain but i want to use siyah for doing dual boot.
Anybody got any ideas to what the problem may be?
Cheers.

well if dual booting is ur main concern then u can try
1)Dream Kernel- derivative of siyah with dual boot option and Xtweaks
2)Dorimanx- which again has Dual boot options

I have tried both but most have been ICS, any rom with Siyah based kernel gives me problems, my phone could switch off after a few hours or days, then it is regular after the first shut down, i am not doing any tweaking or anything either, it happens when i am not dual booting too?
Is the Screen/Sleep Of Death (SOD) bug I've read about or something different?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Download CPU spy from the play store to see if your device is deep sleeping, and better battery stats from xda app section to see the wakelocks. It does sound like sleep of death too, have you undervolted your device?

Oh, don't set minimal CPU freq below 200 MHz, cause it results with SoD.
It is sounding like that sleep of death but why is it working perfect with the Phenomenal kernel?
I have not done any undervolting i have just been flashing the roms as they come, i will try CPU spy and better battery stats and see what they say.
Cheers.
