It's not full root... Its temporary root. All the instructions are inside the threads in the development section really... There's not a lot to tell you.
However... there is A LOT of useful information within those threads that you should read up on.
The latest versions of root are SUPER easy. Follow my link for a root that also lets you surf Hulu on the Dolphin Browser app. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169495
Note that instructions for the basic root are in the first link of the thread I created. But the basic instructions I provide in my post should do it. It's VERY easy nowadays! Do yourself a favor and install a root checker to quickly verify that it worked
This method works great for me and couldn't be easier.

I'm planning to modify my Archos 101. Got this this website about the rooting process. Before I go to rooting, I want you guys to know my plans to mod my Archos 101, is to have much higher clock speed, not like the stock speed, also no limitations on installing App. Now I updated my OS to 2.1.04. I have no SDcard but mine has a 8GB Internal mem.
I found this forums, and I dont know where to start? Can you guys guide me to the right directions.

I'm kinda confuse, after I found this posts... please guide me before I do some rooting.. Thank you masters...
Also what is the advatage of rooting my device... i'm kinda curious? I love to use all the potential of device. Is this the same?
Why would you want to root your device if you don't even know what the benefits or drawbacks of rooting it are?!? Are you so desperate for root that you are ready to void your warranty or install a possible trojan?? I suggest you get familiar with the capabilities of your device before trying to "mod" it in any way. Maybe it will suffice for you without the need to root. If not, you should read all you can on the subject before asking for help, there's a lot of information on the subject already. Someone who needs their hand held shouldn't be attempting to root the Archos.

Do we have freedom of choice here...? The reason why I want to root my device, I already read "some" of the benifits... The only thing I need is to make it faster or some sort... Some can run 1200mhz, or 1280mhz. Mine is only running 800-1000mhz. Some has custom desktop... mine is only plain stock, some can install a lot Apps by increasing ROM. Do you understand what I'm trying to express... I'm just asking for help... I'll be not blaming you and other pips... I only need is guidance and just simple tweaks.... Thats all... Please help are In need... Warranty? I thought you can bring it back to the original? and it will not brick, right? So please XDAdevelopers pimp my Archos....!

I have confirm the above thread is very easy to temporary root or permanent root (without CPU speed up). I have recommend you to read this thread first.
2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895599
This thread look like difficult for new user and must have some knowledge about linux command.
3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897877
This thread very easy to temporary root and you can use SETCPU to speed up CPU. I love this thread but it not ability to permanent root.
Note: I had decided to root my device by myself and I don't mind about warranty

Hey guys, I have a thunderbolt and would like to learn how to root, flash, all that good stuff.
Problem is, I don't know much about this stuff. I looked around, but couldn't find a link or a thread that was like an educational tool. If anyone knows where it is, it'd be much appreciated. Or if someone could let me know the basics, that's be good to.
I know I have to root the phone first, but I'm not sure how to save my contacts and past information(old texts). Also, I'll be rooting from a macbook.
Thanks in advance.
Why hello there Ryan!
There are several methods available to you, as well as several guides, most of which can be found here
In particular, you'll find a great guide to rooting on Mac osx here
GL and HF! And make sure you read ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS before you start. Links may die, and if you're 1/2 way through rooting it won't be good

+1, that's the stuff just remember to post any questions you may have in the Q&A section and not the development one! Happy hacking!

Welcome,
For rooting I used the "[ROOT] MR1/OTA PermRoot + Unlock Bootloader - Safer/Easier 5/12/2011" method by jcase. Once I got ADB set up on Windows it could not have been easier. Just take your time, follow the directions to a tee, and all should be well.
Since rooting I have spent a lot of time trolling these forums, using the search function ;- ) to find the information that I need, and more or less hacking on my Thunderbolt the my great delight and my wife's displeasure.
Have fun and enjoy.
I'm heading to store to buy G tablet.
I was reading the forum and I saw the guide "[GUIDE] Install ClockworkMod, a ROM, Flash Player, and the Market Fix" "
Looks very promising my only question is that do I have to root the device to follow from Part One or Part One will root the device "Part One – Install ClockworkMod v08".
I believe if root is needed before following the guide I can find that info on the forum.
Also which one is the best ROM to install?
Many Thanks...
You don't need root to install CWM. The new rom you flash will grant you root access.
Be aware of your bootloader. That tutorial you are looking at was written before the 1.2 bootloader (which your new device may come pre-loaded with). The 1.2 bootloader is incompatible with the version of clockwork referenced in your tutorial.
For all the info check out http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/
I'm a fan of this rom myself

good luck!
That's a great link you posted. I could have used that several months ago
Bookmarked regardless.

Hi,
I had a question about rooting my galaxy s2. I searched a while for a great tutorial on youtube.
I found this amazing site called; galaxys2root.com, with a video called "How to Root Galaxy S2! [NEW][Works on All Galaxy S2 Variants]".
I tried to root my phone, but it doesn't seem to work. The software used in the video is 2.3.3. I thought this might be the problem, since I followed every step carefully.
I was wondering if anyone knew how to root a 2.3.6. A video similar to the one written above would be great, since it is my first time rooting!
Thanks in advance,
Monkeyfntstc

SEARCH FIRST
Just use Odin With CF Root Kernel
Again, asking us about a method that isn't on this site is pointless. How would we know ?
If you want to root your phone using a method from here, CFRoot thread. Do not use this method (or any method for that matter) to root your phone until you absolutely thoroughly understand the instructions.
The risk of bricking your phone using any method to root increases exponentially with how poorly you understand it/how little attention you pay to the instructions.
You would also do well to read the stickies.
There are no videos, there are no shortcuts.
thanks Mistahbungle
It looked easy while watching the video.. that is why i was wondering
Also, make absolutely sure you have an I9100/I9100T.
Check in settings/about phone; you'll need to do this anyway to check your current kernel so you can find a matching CFRoot kernel to flash in order to root your phone.
Make sure using the correct ROM and kernel, for G version and non G.
Good Luck friend!
I just want to know what are the steps before I go ahead and root my GN2. Like how do I make a back up before root and what to use to do this. I just want everything to go as smooth and easy with no mistakes. Thanks in advance!
I read and read and read for a week. I read through the Casual threads. There is an older one and the new one for latest OTA VRAM3C. I explained what I did in that post. For me it was smooth as a hot knife thru warm butter. Click the link in my signature.
