Okay i just got my hands on the new 3vo coming from the EVO 4g and wanting to compress a 3D movie i have to a smaller size that will best fit the 3vo. Can someone please tell me whats the best way to compress the movie. I have the IMAX Hubble Telescope movie that is about 4gigs and need it to be around 2gigs
-gyea
Split the movie...files that are movies are already compressed thru their algorithms. There are a few programs that will reconvert it..but movies that big..needs to be split.

Seeing as the EVO 3D will be out in a couple weeks, i wanted to get a head start converting some of my favorite 3D movies that i own to work on the EVO 3D.
I know the phone is not out and we won't know what will work till the phone comes out. Does anyone have any theories on what will work the best? I heard that there is a code in the header of the movie file that tells the EVO to enable 3D mode.
According to the Wiki the EVO 3D supports these movie formats:
MPEG4 / H.263 / H.264 / WMV
Ive already down converted Avatar 3D to 720P. But i am not sure if this affects the 3D on the movie.
Lets see if we can get a head start on figuring this stuff out!
I was converting fallow this instruction>>> http://www.pubarticles.com/article-...s-on-lg-optimus-3d-smartphone-1298019262.html for LG Optimus 3D. I tryed to find out so many times to do that, but four people confirmed that it's doesn't work. I Want to make sure that phone can run 3d movies before I get it. I do not know why there is no any information that phone can or can not playback movies when we put some on the phone. That is priority for me, Im not so exciting that I can record movie in 3d, The most thing is can I playback in 3d for example movie like avatra 3d or resident evil 3d.
You guys should give DVDFab a try...That's what I use for my BluRay needs

DVD Fab for ripping or conversion?

^^ For both. I've only used it for ripping BD but It has BD 3D conversion as well. Here's a list of what it converts to; AVI, MKV, MP4, WMV, M2TS & TS.
evo 3d records the some way like lg optimus 3d side-by-side *.mp4
Check out the wirefly review thread as it mentions some 3d file format stuff. Says the extension is .mdo

*.mdo is for pictures
Im also wondering if this is possible. I dont have a 3d TV so it would be nice to possibly watch sports in 3D on this. I dont know.. maybe a recorded broadcast of the NBA finals encoded to work on the evo 3d???
This might work

i have a 3d file in avi, mkv, and wmv. what do you guys use to convert it to mp4 to work on the 3d evo?

Just one question:
Can i convert 2d videos to 3D, then transfer them onto EVO 3D for playback since it support 3D playback?
Any idea?

You can't make 2D content 3D and have it noticeable. Movie studios take months to do it for 2D movies and the end result is still really crappy.

I do not know how well it works, as I am waiting to get my 3D EVO before I try it out, but there is a video conversion program called Wondershare that claims to do just what you asked.
the most important think is can you playback 3d movies (avatar 3d)on evo 3d ? if yes how to do that, how to convert?
Well, I just find this 2D to 3D Video Converter which can convert 2D video to 3D format. So i wonder if the created 3d video files can be played on EVO 3D.

What he said. I'm sure there is software out there to do it, but you're better off starting off with actual 3D content.
You're talking about taking a video shot from one perspective and somehow magically giving it depth? If there's any software to do it, I can't imagine it producing good results.
I know DvDFab does this but never tested but I will now
Well youporn has some 3D content and I doubt it was recorded using EVO 3Ds

At least we got the million dollar question out of the way before the device even officially launched
LOL but IMHO my answer to the 2D->3D question would be simply no.
A good example of this would be the movie TRON 3D
The movie was filmed in 2D, but the 3D thing was all the craze so they added 3D in the CGI portions. With the glasses on the movies special effects came to life but the characters themselves remained dull and submersed within the screen.
You can't add depth to a flat plane. You can fake it but if the data is not there you can only imagine what would have been in it's place.
It's just like walking into a museum and looking at paintings. You're not gonna see 3D because the even though the you're using two eyes to view the image. There is no depth to interpret.
YES. you can make 2D-3D and look AWESOME
Actually you can.
I have been playing around with it for a long time now for use with the Vuzix Iwear 3D glasses.
It won't let me post the link so google
3DCOMBINE
and see for yourself
Richard Scullion, nice guy, in the UK, his software is AMAZING, it takes about 3 days to convert a full length movie from 2D-3D and IT IS NOTICEABLE.
His software allows you to select the amount of depth you wish, the more depth the longer and possible worse the video gets but this is just amazing software.

Graffiti Wall
how do you open this file?
So today at work (I Work at Best Buy) I was bored and found the media share app. Turned it on and the new Samsung and Sony Smart TV's could pick up my phones music, Movies, and Pictures over WIFI. Which is cool on its own. But I also noticed that the 3D T.V.s could pick up the 3D movies on my phone. So I was streaming avatar in 3D to the Sony TV and watching that for a little bit. The Samsung also recognizes 3d movies you filmed from the 3VO's Camera. Unfortunately It doesn't recognize 3D Pictures, so I'm trying to find a work around for that. But still Pretty cool for Samsung 3d tv's!! (For some reason i couldn't get it to stream the 3VO's 3D film on the sony when it played avatar considering their both mp4 files. I'll mess more with that when I go back, I might just have been in the wrong folder when I tried cus a customer was bugging me )
Just a heads up for those interested, I was only streaming a compressed 3d movie. Resolution was formatted to 940X540 i.e. the 3VO's screen. I'm Planning on trying to stream a full size 1080p Movie when I work next. Ill keep anyone whose interested informed on my progress. The only prob is a full size movie is anywhere from 10-18GB depending on length so I also need a bigger SD Card
I'm Also looking to test on Panasonic 3D TV's because I believe they support more formats than Samsung when it comes to picture formats, but unfortunately my Best Buy doesn't have a 3D Panasonic TV on display so that'll have to come later...
I think it can push to any DLNA tv
yeah, not to detract from your discovery, but that's kinda the point of DLNA.
...regardless, it's still a fantastic feature.
heres the math, and ive looked though the threads and to no avail, lets say i have a 3d blueray rip 1080p mp4 sterieoscopic file that is 13gigs. looks great on a 60 inch HD-3d plasma screeen but i dont have one. i wanna scale it down to fit on a 4.3 inch 540x960 3vo screen. what is the way to go about this? best resolution (in 3d) in a itty bitty living space. ive watched movies in 2d that were mp4 and only 400mb and were stunning. and ive watched avatar in 3d that was almost 2 gigs and it blew me away. but does it really need to be that big to get the most bang for my buck.
Second Question, The largest micro sd card the phone can handle, and where can i pay the least for it. thanks
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Look at this thread for recommended video converters, the OP states the best options to use and they work pretty good http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140313.
As for the sd card im not too sure but I'd take a quick search in the accessories thread there will probably be a lot in there
converter
freemake has done a good job for me with the right settings
I've got the hang of using handbrake. To my understanding mp4's are best because of the way they compress the data, I have found a lot useful threads that got to the conclusion no one agrees there is no right answer , and it is just a matter of preference. My question was more technically speaking for the point of saving space without sacrificing resolution.
I've converted part of my copy of a certain 3D Blu-Ray from the 10GB MKV that I use on my 3D monitor to an 84MB MP4 sample using handbrake. I suggest converting a shorter sample to test your handbrake settings before going the distance on the whole file, and testing how it runs on your EVO 3D before as well. My sample was missing audio on the EVO but not the PC. PM me for more info.

Am I the only one who can't watch the green Hornet 3d that came with the 3vo.. It keeps saying downloading lisence and does not do anything.. Is there a way to get past it
Quick thumbing frm my 3vo.. So LISTENNNN!!!
Trust me. You're better off not ever watching that movie.
AND it takes up almost 4 Gigs of data. Delete that as quickly as possible.
There are a jillion better ways to use that space.
<<work in progress>>
I saw the movie, not all that great and a great waste of space if you ask me.
(its been on HBO and not all that great in 3D)
In order to answer you question though, I did not have any issue watching the movie but I had to register w/ htc etc... some user name and bs like that in order to watch it.
but what I just did was find some 3d movies and added them to my card, only took up half the space and didn't require htc watch in order to view them to watch in 3d.
What I'm wondering is that it could be your ROM that your running? if so, which one are you?
Also, I have some movies that are great on 3D but there not your hollywood types. The ones I have were open source and ready for everyone but did make it 3D with a nice conversion. Let me know if interested. The one that I currently have on my SD card is a sweet documentary about sea life and it looks really sweet on 3D.
OK cool.. Can I get the download links for the 3d movies and where would you download 3d movies from like new 3d movies??
Quick thumbing frm my 3vo.. So LISTENNNN!!!
Oh yea I'm running stock 3vo rom right now

I would go to ur favorite torrent site and type in evo 3d, I always get a list of movies that have been converted for the evo in 3d. Im pretty sure we cant list torrent sites on here...
What file type is the 3d movies?
Sent from my 3vo
Mine are in the normal mp4 format.
Lol thanks

Whatever site you want to visit, just search for "sbs" which is "side by side", that's the format our phones use for 3d. However, doing it this way will get results for any 3d movie, so they might not be in the correct resolution. And they might be bigger in size. But then you will find Handbrake is your best friend.
