I hate the factory lock screen, and I was locking for a replacement.
I try'd Live Locker, and I like it very much. But I found out it drains the battery a little, so I'm searching for a good replacement.
I also see that WidgetLocker is good, but for what I read in this forum, it as some problems with SGS2.
Any sugestions are verry apreciated.
Thanks.
I've been using WidgetLocker for some time, and since I have root and use the root option of the App, I must say, for some weird reasons it runs much better
Before I had root, I had some problems with my battery, it was draining like hell, now not anymore.
Thanks for the replay, I think I'm going to test it, since I also have root.
Widget Locker will also drain more battery than normal. I think any third party lock screen will do more or less same.

Eh? I have widget locker and the extra battery use is minimal.

Well, then maybe I have to use the default lock pattern.
It's not nice looking but works.
Widget locker is a peace of crap. Home Button works awful with it. I need to wait 3-4 seconds, before button react on my press. I hope in CyanogenMod will be normal lockscreen option, like on CyanogenMod at Samsung i9000.
Is there a way to get the Nexus One off screen animation like that of a CRT television?

I use Goto Lockscreen
It's a little less flexible than widgetlocker, but I think it looks better.

I am having some issues with widgetlocker. It seems that about 1 out of every 10 times I hit the power button to turn the screen on the stock lockscreen shows up instead of the widgetlocker screen. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?? Thanks.
happens to me too a little less frequently though, maybe 1 in 15 or 20. no clue btw

Are you using the supercharger script? I am, and found that the two don't play nicely together. I'm guessing widget locker doesn't have high enough priority, but what do I know. I switched my settings down to megamemory one and it helped, but not enough to keep it.
Supercharge script > widget locker. IMO. I had to pick one...
I also noticed that widget locker enables while im on the phone forcing me to unlock it to hang up the phone. I contacted the dev and he said my settings are correct so its the phones fault. yay chalk another one up for this pos phone.
Is there anything i can do to disable the lock screens? I have the option of having that giant picture to swipe or the number/pattern unlocks...i wish to have neither...waste of valuable time!
There is an app called 'no lock' its got good reviews, but would that stop this phone from going into its 'deep sleep' and thus waste more battery?
There is no connection between No Lock and deep sleep. You can use that without any probs.

cheers
will try it out
Not had any problems with NoLock in the past, but use WidgetLocker to change it up a bit now.
Think the stock lockscreen is the worst of any phone I've seen. Locks minimalistic and clean (which is lovely), but the swipe effect and transition is horrible.
No lock runs in the background..and takes up 5-6mb of ram. Doesn't show up on battery useage. Quite satisfactory
Wonder if theres a root version that like takes unlock off once and doesnt need to run ever again!
This is what I'm after. Surely there is something that can be frozen or uninstalled to stop the stock lock screen from ever appearing?
Is this the same on others devices .. when I unlock my screen the widgets and apps sometimes need a second time appear
The weather clock. Alarm widget. Google search etc all disappear as if they are not loaded .. is this a feature to save power or a design flaw ??

I've noticed that too. Like it has to load everything up again. Annoying.

Same here with Nova launncher.
This is where I envy IOS
Here comes the whaaambulance!!!
Seriously though. I think its designed to do that. Not so much the part where they take a second to load, but to save power maybe by using less ram? I dunno.

Ah yeah sounds right to save ram it's not bothering me as such just used to HTC
Another thing anyway to delay the screen lock when I'm using the phone ... I don't want to have to change the screen lock each time from none to pattern lol

The worst part is, if I wake up phone from deep sleep them the animation on the lock screen lags.
And even the main screen would lag for few seconds before it becomes super snappy.
This wake up lag and screen refresh is very embarrassing.
My gf's I Phone never does that and she teases me a lot because of this.
I have to sollow my pride :screwy::screwy::thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown:

I'm currently wavering bettwen Nexus 5 and G2, I like the bigger screen and better battery life of G2. But the location of the G2 screen locking button is annoying, it makes me really uncomfortable.
Yesterday I tried and found that I can lock and wake up the screen by double clicking it, which is a relief. But I'm also wondering if I flash the CM or other customized ROM into G2, will I still be able to do this? I don't like the stock Rom at all. Have you guys got used to the location of the button?
Thank you.

The location of the lock button doesn't bother me, never noticed out actually, but whatever the case is, I think the lock screen effect is a LG thing. You probably won't have to deal with any of the LG ui stuff if you're using cm rom...

Yes, on CM you still have knock on by default, it's built into the kernel. Knock-off is coming soon, or there are mods that add the function back in.

So you tap the screen twice every time you want to lock the screen? But sometimes if you tap on the app icon, it will open the app instead of locking the screen. How did you solve this problem?
No, for off it needs to be a black spot when not in lock screen or the status bar. In lock screen, anywhere. Yes works on custom roms, but on custom rooms knock off only works from status bar unless third party app.
On CM, you can work around by using a launcher such as Nova Prime with double tap options and a free app from the at store that turns the screen off.
Set Nova to double tap = launch screen off app.
I just set my screen off time to 15s and never worry about it turning it off.
On stock LG Rom, the launcher has double tap off built in. You can also double tap the status bar from within any app.
I don't think I've ever used my hardware buttons. It's very intuitive.

I couldn't find any topics like this so here goes:
Currently I have my lock screen off so that when I wake my device on I instantly get to my launcher instead of going through the lock screen swiping or tapping in a combination to get to the launcher. Yeah, I get that its more secure with the lock screen on; but I just feel that the battery is getting drained when going through the lock screen. I don't know how if the lock screen is conserving battery or something. Enlighten me. I want to hear it from you guys. Will disabling the lock screen save me some battery?
Seems to me like any amount of battery saved would be negligible. Sounds like a personal preference IMO.

I don't know that the lock screen saves battery - in fact I doubt it. If it does, it's barely any, as the guy above me said. If you're trying to save battery, just make sure you're killing apps when you're done with them and maybe even install Greenify.
I think it depends on what you have on your lockscreen. If you have a bunch of widgets, then the widgets might be using up your battery. For example, if your lockscreen displays the weather and it is sync'ing the weather or location every 5 minutes, then you might see a pretty big battery draw.
