Is there anything i can do to disable the lock screens? I have the option of having that giant picture to swipe or the number/pattern unlocks...i wish to have neither...waste of valuable time!
There is an app called 'no lock' its got good reviews, but would that stop this phone from going into its 'deep sleep' and thus waste more battery?
There is no connection between No Lock and deep sleep. You can use that without any probs.

cheers
will try it out
Not had any problems with NoLock in the past, but use WidgetLocker to change it up a bit now.
Think the stock lockscreen is the worst of any phone I've seen. Locks minimalistic and clean (which is lovely), but the swipe effect and transition is horrible.
No lock runs in the background..and takes up 5-6mb of ram. Doesn't show up on battery useage. Quite satisfactory
Wonder if theres a root version that like takes unlock off once and doesnt need to run ever again!
This is what I'm after. Surely there is something that can be frozen or uninstalled to stop the stock lock screen from ever appearing?

I hate the factory lock screen, and I was locking for a replacement.
I try'd Live Locker, and I like it very much. But I found out it drains the battery a little, so I'm searching for a good replacement.
I also see that WidgetLocker is good, but for what I read in this forum, it as some problems with SGS2.
Any sugestions are verry apreciated.
Thanks.
I've been using WidgetLocker for some time, and since I have root and use the root option of the App, I must say, for some weird reasons it runs much better
Before I had root, I had some problems with my battery, it was draining like hell, now not anymore.
Thanks for the replay, I think I'm going to test it, since I also have root.
Widget Locker will also drain more battery than normal. I think any third party lock screen will do more or less same.

Eh? I have widget locker and the extra battery use is minimal.

Well, then maybe I have to use the default lock pattern.
It's not nice looking but works.
Widget locker is a peace of crap. Home Button works awful with it. I need to wait 3-4 seconds, before button react on my press. I hope in CyanogenMod will be normal lockscreen option, like on CyanogenMod at Samsung i9000.
Is there a way to get the Nexus One off screen animation like that of a CRT television?

I use Goto Lockscreen
It's a little less flexible than widgetlocker, but I think it looks better.
My Thunderbolt is rooted, and I have tried several different ROMs (some AOSP even) and different kernels, and still I get this strange problem... I use WidgetLocker and fairly often when I go to unlock my phone, the touch screen doesn't work. I have to turn the screen on and off several times and sometimes that works, but it may take up to several minutes for it to finally register my touch. I even sometimes have to pull the battery because after ten minutes, nothing is responding. At first, I thought it the ROM/kernel - I used BAMF in the beginning and that is when I noticed it. Then I switched to ShiftSense, and I barely noticed the touch screen ever failing on me, but the lack of GPS locking and accuracy made me switch to NonSense, which I enjoy but again the touch screen not working at the WidgetLocker lock screen comes up again. My other theory was maybe the HTC Ring Lock Screen gets in the way, so I downloaded NoLock and disabled it, but that didn't work. Then I tried use the WL HomeHelper, but that didn't work... I tried different settings, but no avail. I really enjoy WidgetLocker and I want to try to keep it, but I am not sure what other things I should try to fix this problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!
widget locker did that to me several times so I gave up on it. Its definitely a problem with widget locker and not your phone or ROM. It freezes. I even set it to unlock with long press of back button and that would freeze as well.
my phone does the same thing, i think its a problem with our phone and gingerbread. it happens less with froyo. I believe its a radio issue.

I have used widget locker on over 10 different android devices I've own. I've never had a freeze issue with it. Reason I've had freeze issue starting with low RAM device. Then voltage to low or cpu frequency to low.
Is there a good alternative with Widget Locker? I just love the use of my own custom slider/widgets/custom background... Does any other app do that? I sort of want to try another app and test to see if it is in fact my phone/RAM/ROM/whatever or Widget Locker.

take off or freeze widget locker for a few days and see how your phone does. If it doesn't freeze, then you know its the app.
As for the guy that has used widget locker on 10 devices without problems, I call BS, I tried it on stock, and several customs and always had problems.
I sort of like the features of WidgetLocker than my default lock screen doesn't have and the look of it, so if I turn it off, I sort of want to try to find a replacement app in the meantime.
I just wanted to chime in and say I have this issue with my Thunderbolt and Widgetlocker as well. I've found that it usually freezes if I let my screen turn off by timing out. I'll turn it back on and the screen doesn't respond at all. I've found that if I let my screen timeout again while on the Widgetlocker screen, my touch screen will be responsive the next time I turn it on again.

Same problem here, I stopped using widget locker and just use the sense 3 lockscreen now.
I just wanted to put in my two cents - I was have the same problems with WidgetLocker on BAMF Forever (1.0.7 & 1.0.9). I found another thread on here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1151269) that someone with a BAMF Sense 3 ROM and a custom kernel was having the same issue. Someone else suggested upping the voltage on the kernel to 368 or changing the kernel. It didn't work for him, but it did for me. I'm not using a custom kernel, but there is an option to change that in BAMF Settings. I've been running it at 368 for several days now and I only had one lockup (but that was shortly after bootup and the phone was probably busy doing other things in the background). HTH
I am using ICS alpha 1, but I had this issue with the normal ICS leak as well. If I choose face unlock for security, and set the timeout to anything other than immediate, I have no lock screen at all until that timeout is reached. No swype or anything... anyone know why that is?
I think that's the entire purpose of the time out. It could get annoying holding the phone at the right angle in a decently lit area over and over if you're using your phone a lot but still allowing the screen to turn off. And that's at your best bet, at worst its too dark or bright and you have to really work to unlock it repeatedly.

Right, but now if the phone wakes before the lock screen timeout, it wakes to the home screen... which can be bad for pocket dials, etc...

Not locking immediately is the entire point of setting that timeout. It doesn't lock. If you want it to lock when the screen goes off, you have to set it to immediately.
I think understand what you're asking, though. If use facelock and set it to lock after 5 minutes, anytime you unlock it up to 4 minutes and 59 seconds, you want to have to swipe or use some other method to unlock. Pretty sure that's not an option, unless there's an alternative app out there that does it or a dev mods it to do that.

On other devices I have with ICS, its the default lockscreen until the faceunlock timeout is reached. The other device I have is HTC, so maybe sense has something to do with it. I was able to get the behavior I want just by using widgetlocker, but I dont like that solution... I like to stay as vanilla as possible.

I am currently running rooted MJ7 (Verizon Galaxy S4) and have window animation scale, transition animation scale, and animation duration scale all turned off in developer options. I hoped that this would reduce screen and lock screen lag, however, I am getting pretty pissed about waking my phone and have to wait for 10-15 seconds for any touch response. This happens about once or twice an hour. It also occurs every so often once the screen unlocks and I will wait 10-15 seconds for anything but the wallpaper to load... I have hard reset multiple times hoping to clear the issue. I use zero widgets to avoid load time (however the hardware in this phone should be able to handle pretty damn much anything), and I manually clear cache and kill apps regularly....Nothing has helped... Any ideas or anyone else experiencing this?

Do you have lock screen effects turned off (light and water)? Turning those off really helped with the stutter I used to get when unlocking. It wasn't nearly as bad as what you're describing though... are you running any performance tweaks? Any 3rd party apps that change system behavior? I would freeze any non-stock apps and mods for a day and see if you still get it.

Haha, I actually feel quite noob at this point. Immediately after creating this post I went through my running applications in rom toolbox and noticed one little thing... There was a system cleanup tool running a total clean at every system lock, thus killing all running/background apps. The lag was simply the phone restarting the necessary applications... After eliminating this procedure I no longer experience the severity of lag. Whoops.

I couldn't find any topics like this so here goes:
Currently I have my lock screen off so that when I wake my device on I instantly get to my launcher instead of going through the lock screen swiping or tapping in a combination to get to the launcher. Yeah, I get that its more secure with the lock screen on; but I just feel that the battery is getting drained when going through the lock screen. I don't know how if the lock screen is conserving battery or something. Enlighten me. I want to hear it from you guys. Will disabling the lock screen save me some battery?
Seems to me like any amount of battery saved would be negligible. Sounds like a personal preference IMO.

I don't know that the lock screen saves battery - in fact I doubt it. If it does, it's barely any, as the guy above me said. If you're trying to save battery, just make sure you're killing apps when you're done with them and maybe even install Greenify.
I think it depends on what you have on your lockscreen. If you have a bunch of widgets, then the widgets might be using up your battery. For example, if your lockscreen displays the weather and it is sync'ing the weather or location every 5 minutes, then you might see a pretty big battery draw.
