We've got someone developing something called Fission ROM. It's AOSP based I believe.
Fission isn't aosp if it's the same one I used on my droid 2 global

Right now, there's no AOSP rom aside from an early internal motorola build that was leaked from before motoblur was added. However, that rom is very unstable and too many things are broken to consider it usable.
The Fission rom we are talking about is this one. However, the person doing that port has stated on twitter that he doesnt own an atrix and uses a friend's phone when he has access to it, so I"m not getting my hopes up on it.
Since the phone is unlocked what is holding back a aosp rom?

Nope, someone has to build it, no one has yet. Just because there's unlocked bootloader don't mean roms will popup automatically.there has to be people willing to put time into working on it.

Any way to get whatever version of "blur" the bionic and Droid 3 ported to the photon?
My friend has a bionic and his wife has the Droid 3 and their versions of blur are smoother and faster than the "blur" we have. Id use the stock launcher if it was like theirs. Ours is slow and laggy. Both demo units at my local stores were laggy as well so I know its notmy phone.

Strange, my Blur runs smooth without any hiccups, and im running setcpu at 608mhz. So its underclocked on stock rom and kernel.

Well I'm not sure y every photon I use it has lag on the stock launcher. I use LPP and its smooth as hell, back to stock launcher and it lags...

I read it has something to do with widgets, not sure if its the number of widgets, Motorola widgets or android widgets that cause the issue.

even with this monster of information reading and work to put in, I would love to see what you brought up........ its shady we got the low end of the stick their launcher is way better than ours ud think with nVid gpu we have id be more likely to have some better animations.... but noooo........ id like to see someone port this over... id gladly donate to the dev that can port the bionic launcher over to our mopho....

I brought this same thing up when the phone first launched. I really want the droid 3 launcher but it looks like that is a pretty hard task. Motorola's file structure seems to be the most complicated besides Samsung and it's harder than probably thought to be..
I don't think we will officially see it because it's really made for the whole DRoid push that verizon has. I saw somewhere that we actually don't have a blur phone so that's why we are not getting it. The verizon phones are running motoblur.

Well if you mean towards jelly bean, yes and no. I don't think we can get aosp jb as their wont be a kernel for it. I think since JB is closely related to ICs versus the big difference between GB and ICS that it wont be as hard to go from one to the other

Actually yes, Chad is working on the kernel/RIL issue. I talked to Dmaedows on twitter informed him of it, it was the first he heard of Chad's working on it. Tweeted back later, it seems the two are going to work together, or at the very least Dmeadows is going to merge his fixes with Chad to make something useable.
But as always, remain cautiously optimistic, no promises.

I doubt we'll get a fully working JB port any time soon, few months at best.
Last I read on the ICS RIL was the kernel source was needed so we are stuck waiting for the update to be release and the source to be posted on HTC's dev site shortly afterwards...
No idea if that's truly the hold up, just something I saw awhile back.

I thought the same thing, remember when they said that about the Photon 4g a couple of months before it came out??? i sure do and we are almost a year into the life of our phones and still nothing. Even if this does turn out to be correct, they never said that this would work for older phone so we might be SOL anyway...
Hope this would work for photons they have to be similar in some sort of way.Al i want is ice cream sandwich, or jelly bean, with 4g intact and so i can use cyanogen

I suspect that the recent update to the photon was in preparation of this. bringing all the phones to the same bootloader would make the unlock process much simpler. Yes this is optimistic.

Photon Q will be the first, and upcoming new phones will have it. They promised only this and nothing more.

I'm running Infected Eternity, which is sense 3.5 gingerbread. I love the new ICS ROMs and the whole idea of having ICS on the Thunderbolt but right now, I need something more stable and with a working camcorder since I use my phone a lot to record my one year old.
To root your new Thunderbolt, use the program in the link below.
Before you root, just make sure your new Thunderbolt is updated to software version 2.605.19... which it should be.

Are there any current ics roms that are stable without any major issues? I've been reading through various pages and forums and it seems as if I need to have a great knowledge base in order to even flash one. Lots of technical grammar and procedures. I'm pretty much rooting my phone for the wifi tethering, debloating of Verizon junk, with a little bit of customization.

Going to start a ROM bounty here.
Plain and simple i love the idea of the ROM and would like to see a stable build for us.
Bounty will be played upon dev completing a stable build with no major bugs (ie. cell/data/3g,late working/MMS,GPS etc)
I know this can be done and would love to do it if i had the skill sets or the time.

They can flame all they want. Doesn't bother me. I'd like to see some new stuff in the community and am willing to fork out some money to see it. There may or may not be others that feel the same way but hey that's their opinion.

Yeah I've tries it as well as a few other ppl here phone FCS along with contact storage.
I manages to get data working with some edits but no one can get cell service ie. Phone calls to work even when using an alternate dialer like exdialer. Simply says dialing and never goes through.
I also tried the porting tool same issues
