[Q] Wifi problems - myTouch 3G Slide Android Development

my wifi doesnt work right. it will connect for a few minutes then it just stops working. i have cm 7.0.3., radio 7.08.35 and kernel 2.6.32.17 by miguel. i have done wipes and have tried a few different kernels. wifi will work for a few minutes then just stop. if i turn off wifi for a while and turn it back on it will work for a few minutes again. anybody have any advice?
As an update I flashed the salsa rom and its required kernel and wifi works fine now. However, I don't like this rom very much. I like CM. Does anyone know of a good working cm rom and kernel combination? I also have updated my radio to 7.15... Thanks
tried cm again and the same issue is back. cm 7.0.3-slide rom, 2.6.32.17-cyanogen mod-g46ca326 [email protected] #1 kernel, 7.15.35.16 radio. i cant understand what is going on

try the old CM6 and its variations? if you don't like Sense roms, then the froyo roms are the only one i had no wifi problems (other than Sense roms).

Try one of the newer CM roms (7.1 RC1 for instance). I used to have this problem all the time on CM7, but after HTC released the drivers for this device out to the community and then it was incorporated into CM7 I have not had problems with Wifi since.
I don't honestly know when that actually happened, but I bellieve it was after 7.0.3. I have been running 7.1 RC1 ever since the day it came out and have not had the problem at all. It is possible that may work for you.
Here is a link to it, which I just got from the main thread. CM7.1RC1

i will try it now. thank you for your help.

tried it. same problems

I've also had this same problem with both roms. I don't know much but I would say this isn't just a CM7.1 or Salsa problem, it seems to be a problem with either 2.3 or kernel compatibility with our beloved MT3G.

I think you are definitely right that it is a problem with 2.3 and how it works with the slide but it is a VERY hit and miss issue. Like I say, I had the problem with every CM7 nightly up through like 80 something and then those drivers were released and it started working for me. I am not sure if I did something different when I flashed the ROM or not but I was ecstatic when it did start working. Hopefully you guys are able to get it worked out, I know how frustrating it is. I went without Wifi for quite some time just because I liked CM7 that much but I am much happier with it working.

One other thing to try (again since I am no longer having this problem I am trying to think of things that I have done) is to be sure you have the latest radio flashed that was pulled from the 2.2.1 build. I have always had that radio so it is not something I often consider, but be sure you have flashed that. I will let you know if I can think of anything else.
There were two issues opened for this since the CM7 nightlies have been coming out. They are
http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=3304
and
http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=2153
It may be worth your noting in them that you have problems with the newer builds. I am not sure if they have fallen off the map yet as problems, but if so you may need to resurface in order for CM to fix them.

I had this same issue back on CM.
I was able to resolve it by installing S-Off through AlphaRev. Once this was done there are two wifi files that need to be replaced. They are ripped straight from the OTA rom.
I'm currently running CM7 nightly 124 and have not had an issue.

Did you do the official T-Mobile 2.2 update? That updates the hboot and the latest hboot isn't supported. You can push these files in recovery. You just got to mount system in recovery and push using adb.

[RADIO] Newest Radio from Froyo OTA 1/21/2011

Hey guys.... Thanks to a member here at XDA, Krylon360, I have gotten my hands on the unreleased 2.2.1 Espresso OTA and so as usual my first stop in is to provide the new radio update while I sort the patches out and get you guys a stock rooted ROM... So without further chit chat as I got some work ahead of me, heres the new radio update taking baseband to 7.15.35.16.... Havent noticed much change although I have also tested nothing speedwise tbh so I will let you all report back on these things.... Grab the radio update here or here and let me know of any improvements or even negative effects it has caused with data, battery life, wifi, etc.... A CR_Mod stock., rooted OTA will follow shortly and you guys can get your much awaited 2.2.1 Froyo Espresso on early since TMO wants to lag..... Have fun... CR
PS: I did this with an update script rather than an updater script as it was easiest in windows which Im on for the moment... I will convert to an updater script in a little while. What does this mean you ask? It means any of you who have flashed the unsupported as of yet CWM 3.0+ rec images that are floating around will not be able to flash the radio. To fix this, use rom manager to reflash the current supported CWM rec, flash the radio, and if you must, reflash the CWM 3.0+ rec in fastboot.
Flashing!

thank you, flashing now
just flashed over your 2.1 espresso rom and everythings running smoothly, will try speed tests now!!!
I've flashed it, but I'll have to wait till l8r to test it. Sounds like a nice update. Thanks!
Any way you can release the unrooted ota while we wait for it to be rooted?
Holy cow, wasn't expecting this, downloading here in a sec and then flashing!
EDIT: I think I may have experienced a double in downloading speed... But I could just be thinking that's whats going on.
Got to love when ChiefzReloaded popup with a new thread always a something good about to happen or have happen. Will steal my gf phone when she gets back home and try it out.
P.S. only thing i really want from that rom is the call over wifi app
Enjoy guys. I'll keep CR updated if I find anything new.
I was running cm7 but I flashed crmod instead then radio and speeds are soo noticably faster this is awsome

Chiefz, thanks for the radio dump. I flashed via fastboot. Haven't noticed *any* changes whatsoever, though... Not that surprising.
I am, however, most interested in the actual contents of the froyo OTA. Any chance you could put the whole zip up for download before you root it and defang it?
It wont flash on a non rooted phone... It does a version check and it looks for a version we don't even have so it fails.... Im looking for the esprimg that may help the process... Not sure if this is gonna be as easy as last time... CR

Well, at least in *my* case, I only want the zip so I can take it apart and see if I can appropriate the wifi calling bits for CM7. But if you don't want to release it just yet I understand. Thanks for providing the radio at least.
Im not sure what is goin on..i flashed the new radio in recovery..then after it rebooted it still shows 7.09.35.10 as my radio..but i also noticed last night after i flashed build 8 of cm7 it still shows in the phone info as build 7.. am i doin something wrong or is it a bug.

Oh true, mine says that to. I used the mediafire link to download it. Installed in Clockwork recovery. I'm on CM6.1.1
same thing happen to me @ first. I flashed through fastboot using the radio.img... and it worked like a charm...
Second on the raw files in a zip that you have if you can
I flashed this radio so far so good, thank you !!
Will this radio work on ArayrayMod Revamped if so I'll absolutely be flashing asap.

[Q] Got a couple ?s about kernels

Ok guys ive been running AOKP milestone 4 for over a week now and am loving it. I follow the forums kinda closely and see most people are running custom kernels. Now ive tried a Glitch kernel while I was on TSH 6.5. Loved the speed and CPU tweeks, however as soon as I would flash it I would loose my 3G. Everytime this would happen. In addition to not being able to successfully do a backup. So I went back to stock.
So now that Im on AOKP 4 I see some of yous are still running a glitch kernel so I tried to put one one yesterday.....I saw the Glitch splash screen(BTW I am still trying to figure how to change splash screens ...so if anyone learned something new... ) and thats the last thing I saw. LOL It just froze on that screen. Had to go back to stock and rebuild.
So does anyone have an idea of compatible kernel for AOKP 4 with maybe an idea of what I did wrong.
Before you guys jump on me and tell to look on other threads, I have. I dont post unless Im truely stuck.

In order to get the Glitch splash screen you will need to Odin Gingerbread bootloaders.
As for you losing 3g, that tells me you're flashing the wrong version of Glitch. (or you're not on Verizon)
Ssewk2x fixed the nandroid failure for the most part in his latest test kernel as well, he has a Dropbox link up somewhere. Search through his posts if you need it. This kernel should also be compatible with AOKP M4 so it's your best bet.
I am def on Verizon. And as for the proper version of the kernel, I was simply flashing the same version everyone else said they were running. B5 V14 i think it was.
Whatcha mean GB bootloader?
i just tried to flash V14 B5 for ths build 6 which seems to be what others are running again, and yet again no 3G. cant find a fix for it. Oh well stock kernel for me for now i guess.

If you are using build 6 you should be flashing the kernel that specifically says it's for build 6.
Why are you flashing build 6 anyway? It's outdated by two releases, build 7 just came out this afternoon.
There's no fix for it because nothing is broken.
EDIT* I flashed 6.1 and i got 3G
No Im running AOKP milestone 4

Uuuhm, you can get info on how to do it here. Just don't use that param.lfs, I don't know what would happen. **** might blow up.
I haven't looked at this MOD for a long ass time, so I really can't help you there.

ROMS

I am kinda new to all this. I just inherited the thunderbolt from my brother bc my other phone is dead. I am rooted and s-off running santod's Official Thunderbolt ICS deoxed debloated. My question was if I am able to switch to one of the older ROMS like NuSense ROM or UnSense ROM or anyone for that matter that I feel like. I know the process of flashing since I have gotten this far, but I don't want to flash these and then be in some sort of loop with problems.. Thanks in advance:good: Also are radios universal or.. I keep seeing people say just try a different one?
You can flash any ROM you like.
As for radios, look in the post about the ROM, they usually specify what radio is best for that ROM. The newest radio is defiantly needed for the new crop of ICS ROMs based on the official OTA as the older radios cause issues.
Only thing I can add to the first response... Always make a backup first. So when you somehow get into a bad flash/bootloop situation, you have an easy way back to a working device. Also verify your download by checking it's md5 code before you flash. Almost (if not all) files you download will have it listed with the download link on the forum op you're getting it from.

It's not your phone but the Rom itself. That's a known issue with cm roms on this phone.

CM10 ** Stable Version ** Keyboard Errors ** Nightlies ** SD Card Issues???

So I finally made the jump and got S-Off using the Moonshine method (Love that sh** BTW) and I flashed CM10 Stable from the Cyanogen website directly. The first error I got was the keyboard would not come up and I was unable to even do anything. I tried using a different keyboard under setting and wouldn't even let me change it.
Next I flashed the latest Nightly thinking this would maybe be more stable and that one gave me the "no SD card error" so I can't use the camera whatsoever.
My question is what version of CM10 fixes both of these issues, or at least somewhat fixes them? I having been flashing for several years so I am used to things being broken in CM10, but these two things are very crucial. Is there a CM10 ROM or variant that works stable enough for daily use? I know there is a flashable zip file fix for the SD card issue, but I really wanted to use the stable version, but the keyboard issue really kills that idea. Am I doing something wrong when flashing the stable version?
Any help would be appreciated. I have no problem using a custom AOSP CM10 based wrong, but there are so many I don't know what to choose?
Thank all.

[Q] kit-kat rom with working wifi?

So I've been working on my dna for about 4 days now trying to get a kit-kat rom that has working wifi on it. But as I've read I don't think one exist. Can anyone confirm this? I was on a NOS rom before that worked perfectly.
Also, been trying to update my baseband (to fix wifi?) but nothing seems to work. I keep getting a fail message when the tool kits try push the zip through.
Error messages and phone details are attached.
Thank you in advance for any help and suggestions you guys can offer.

To varying degrees, WiFi works on all KitKat ROMs, with the exception of CM11 (at least that's been my experience). I've tried all of them, the two that I've found to be the best are Slimkat and AOSPA. Both of those worked best on my DNA.
As far as updating your radio is concerned, couldn't you use an app like Flashify?
In the end, I actually use a 4.2.2 ROM because everything works - and the WiFi/LTE is very stable. I currently use ViperDNA 2.5.2. Having the latest and greatest ROM isn't all that awesome if some of it doesn't work or is unstable.

Flashify? Thats the first time I've seen that. I look into it, Thanks!
As for Roms, this whole mess started when I wanted to get the newer "Video Highlight" Feature that allows you to add your own music.
Im going to look into some other 4.2.2 ROMS and see what I can find. Im really digging Kit-Kat though. If anyone has a fave that they like please let me know.

My preference is ViperDNA 2.5.2. It's a Sense5 4.2.2 ROM with the Aroma installer. So you can install or not install as much or as little of the entire package as you like. I happen to like light ROMs, so I remove almost everything and only install stuff I use.
Haven't used any sense based KitKat roms, but I've never had a WiFi issue on cm or aosp based kk roms.
I use the viper 3.0.1 not updating to the newest version yet I'm letting them work some more bugs out.
