I went with CM7 because I think MIUI looks bugly. However some people really like how it looks. I think it largely comes down to taste.

Here is a link from another forum about this debate.
http://www.incredibleforum.com/forum/htc-incredible-roms/8025-cm-vs-miui-4.html
It comes down to taste for me. MIUI honestly looks to.... werid for me. I like clean and simple lines. CM7 just does that for me. The support is amazing, especially hand in hand with the CM7 team to develop for the fascinate for what could be all the way to ICS (Android Ice Cream Sandwich).
CM7 also has my favorite theme from the market MattedBlues.
I have heard MIUI looks much like the Iphone, or is trying to mimic it. I hate the iphone so anything that hints at it I stay away from.
Just a personal preference really. CM7 on/off animations sell it for me.

Fyi, there's already a thread about this in the General section

Why not just flash them both and make your own determination?

Photon and MIUI

As a forum member of MIUI for the HTC Evo, I just received a e-mail that states a member of the MIUI development team has received a Photon to try and port the MIUI Rom to it. In my personal opinion, this is effin awesome. Anyone that has used MIUI, it is a very impressive Rom, and to know that one day it will be on the Motorola Photon...big things will be happening!!!
Cool, if he can get a bootable kernel, then we can have CM7 as well!

This is amazing news! Slowly but surely, our diamond-in-the-rough phone is going places! Kernel is getting close, just a little more time.
MIUI is great
Ya really love Miui although never had a phone with fully functional Miui.

warttack is teh dev who got it, but he seems to be banned from miui.us.. not sure on what the story is on all that, regardless i know id certainly love some help from him
If miui cames with 4G that will be great other wise CM is fantastic rom

I do hope things work out. One of the things that I really likes about both the MIUI and CM7 was the theme launcher. being able to change the theme of your phone in a matter or seconds and not have to flash is awesome. Even though I am going through some serious flashing withdraw, I must say, the Photon is a really quick, efficient, and over all great phone fresh out the box. Can it really get any better??? (I'msure it will)

^.^ amen, I've flashed three great roms, three great themes and all kinda tweaks on my photon in less than two months time.
Thanks photon devs.....
And now we have this

well said...when I was on the Evo forum there were five variations of the same style Rom with small differences...not dissing the devs at all...they all did great work....it really narrowed down to 3 types...CM7,MIUI, or a sense style Rom...MIUI was my favorite...I believe the Photon is to dope of a phone to be ignored... I'm positive Roms will be created and the haters will just be haters...

Anyone else not like the ICS theme?

I find the new theme kind of meh...it's real low energy and kind of boring.
I thought I was the only one.

Someone should show others some new way. Here is a lot of incredible people. I'm sure that we don't need google to show us how the design should look like, but we (community) are able and strong enought to create a bigger and better things that copying google themes... Only thing should be done, get right people in right time in right place
I'm not liking it either

How does it compare to Gingerbread and froyo then? Share your thoughts!
At first, I didn't really like the color scheme, but after using ICS for a while, its a much better sight then Gingerbread. Clean, vibrant.

Deal with it
CM7 nightly
I want to say that i thought it was really horrifying until i flashed the early port for the ns4g, in the end i thought it was really nice that it was consistent across the whole phone, and in the end made me start to like it.
however, im still on the M'eh side of it, I wanted to make just Golauncher UI related themes for a while now, no icons, just awesome UI's.
Anyone into that idea?
Who ever is responsible for the black unimaginative status bar of ICS and GB should be shot.
The data icons make me rage. Why are the arrows for send and receive next to the 3 instead of under it? Its not lined up. Its the only reason I refuse to use a ICS theme
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I just think that there are too many themes related to ICS and nothing new is coming.
I never liked gingerbread icons or ics I much prefer sprint lovers icons. To each it's own I guess.
Evo 3D in full Affect
It is pretty ugly IMO, and this coming from a guy who loves dark themes.
not good............................
I think they were trying to go for a unique look to really distinguish the Android ui. IMO it's well made and decent, it's just not my thing. It's like a user made CM7 theme I might download and try for a day but ultimately not keep.
I really like the minimalist style but NOT THE BLUE

HUGE flux of Roms and themes with ics look! :-(

Let me start by saying that regardless of whether I like someones rom or themes, I really do appreciate the hard work and eeffort that they point in to making our phones better, because without them our phones would be boring.
Anyways it seems that there are so many themes and Roms that are taking after the ics look, which is what they intesned to do but between our phones dev/theme forum and the i9100 dev/theme forums, it is nuts how many there are and personally I don't are what is so "neat" about the ics look. I think it is a boring look and I prefer themes like blue monkey, more unique look than the same old cyan everything over and over. Seems like people must really like the look of ics. I am excited to be able to use some of the features of ics when we do get it but as soon as we do get ics I will be looking for a theme asap as again I think the stock ics look is boring. Anyways I hope I didn't piss anyone off by saying this, because again I do appreciate the work and effort they put forth. Am I alone on this or is there anyone else who feels that the ics look is a Tad overrated?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Lol, ics with a gingerbread theme for you.

I agree. IMO, what's so exciting about ICS is the features, not the looks. Seems pointless to 'fake it' by copying the looks while still missing all the features.

You should make your own theme and share it with the community here. Or port one of the many Theme Chooser themes from CM7: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167075
I guess the new definition of influx and huge mean 3<=. And that should be only about 2.5 since one ROM only has a few ICS theme elements.
Dont worry about what the rom looks like. Install the one that works for you and the one that you like the best... and then theme it yourself to how you want it to look (launcher, colors, notification bar...) since everything is customizable.

[Request] Pure ASOP ICS ROM

Having just come from the inspire 4g, I've had the luxury of having asopx, which if you search their forum you'll see its as close to Google source as possible with all the cm crap gutted, I've been hoping to see one pop up over here but didn't know if perhaps there just wasn't any demand here in Samsung land. Anyway the phone is awesome, just dislike touchwiz, and want the bare bones stock look and feel of ics, to which I can then customize from there. Seems like all the roms thus far have traces of touchwiz and or tons of cm tweaks and apex lanuchers and all that nonsense that we should have the ability to add from a bare bones build, kinda like a foundation to then just customize from there.
Please show some love if you want this as well, would gladly donate for some dev to get on it :beer:
CM9 and AOKP are the closest things you will get to a pure AOSP OS.
If you wanted guaranteed pure AOSP, you should've bought a Nexus device.
BTW, that "CM crap" as you put it, vastly improves the ability of the OS. As does (and this is my opinion only) Touchwiz4.
Why don't you build your own op if you're not happy with what's offered.

Instead of criticizing why not try helping? There actually is a pure AOSP based ROM that we recently got support for named Codename Android. I'm not sure if it 100% running on our phone yet but they are working to do so.

Codename Android on my Nexus S [link] is really nice. It was one of my favorites. If we could see that (at some point) on our phones, that would be awesome.
I built and ran AOSP ICS 4.0.3 for my Nexus S and I have to say that while I did it just to see it work, I didn't run it long as I missed the features that CM and other open-source projects such as Codename Android have to offer. But, to each their own.
Just my $.02.
AOKP is about as close as you're going to get. Try it, you wont regret it.

Sorry if this post came off as if I was some form of elitiest, I was merely suggesting that if we had a nice bare bones build people can thank tweak as they saw fit, I do not claim to be an Android developer and if I could I would love to build what I'm requesting, unfortunately I do not posses those skills ,hence attempting to lure in unsuspecting developers with donations as I do respect and understand the amount of developers that do this in their spare time while maintaining real life jobs. Secondly, my past experience with cm has been poor with the inspire, perhaps it was just not as highly regarded in the inspire space as it is elsewhere. Cm just didn't play that well with that device, perhaps I was too quick to judge having moved devices.
For those on akop, is it the stock launcher, email, and messaging apps? They don't have any screen shots? I'd like to get away from touchwiz

I share this opinion. I can honestly say if I had to choose between my GS II and the Galaxy Nexus with a locked boot loader, and not rootable, I would take the GS II every time. I would not choose to run Stock ICS over CM9, AOKP, or like stated above, TouchWiz (on ICS).
As others said give AOKP a try. Its definitely daily driver stable and complete. It looks like stock ICS but adds so many features. Things like the power toggles in the notification shade, adding apps to the lock screen as shortcuts, the list is huge. I can't make a firm decision between SHOstock2 and AOKP. I spend a week on one, then swap, repeat. I think people give TW a hard time. Its not sense, its not in your face and leeching into every part of the phone. Its really subtle once you put on a different launcher, even the official att builds. When I run AOKP I miss the TW music player (with controls in the lock screen and notification shade), the video player, and the camera more than anything else. When I run TW builds I miss the people/phone app and calendar. Those are the differences to me between TW and AOSP, a vast majority of the ICS experience is the same in the two.

Everyone in here is telling you to go with AOKP. Its as "bare bones" as you can get with stock ICS. There is in TouchWiz whatsoever in AOKP. All the drivers are in there to make all the functions of your phone work. Go try it. Now.

which one do you vote ? [CM or Gingerbread, HTC SenseUI]or other.

Respected all
I don't know what people in the world think about difference builds of android.I just want to see your answers .which one do you prefer and why?.
Many thanks.
I like CM best because of the massive amount of features and customizations it has. When you say GB i presume you mean AOSP-its not bad but i got used to the extra features of CM and whenever i go to a AOSP rom i really miss them. As for Sense-personally its ugly to me and it also makes pointless load on system resources just to display a shiny rainbow-collored button.

CM is a skin too. CM, AOKP, MIUI, TouchWiz, Sense, Blur, LG skin, Pantech skin, etc. They all run on top of Android, spanning several versions of Android.
