How to flash the gb bootloader?? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i dont get how to fash the bootloader.... do i just flash the gb bootloader over my revolution rc1.2 rom or do i have to odin to stock jfd?

Your better of if you odin back then flash the gb bootloader through odin!
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App

It doesnt matter when you flash the bootloader, if you are on a 2.3 rom the bootloader will work, if you are on a 2.2 rom then you will have trouble flashing anything conventionally. just follow these steps
1. Enter Download mode on your phone.
2. Open ODIN on your computer.
3. Plug in USB and check if ODIN recognizes the phone.
4. Remove all ticks from ODIN, except PDA.
5. Select PDA and browse to the bootloader TAR package file you wish to flash.
6. Click on Flash.
7. If ODIN says PASS, long press power for 10 seconds and it'll reboot, else, repeat 2-6 again...
Avoid exiting download mode if you think the flashing wasn't correct. If however, the peogress window did not start flashing any file, you might just manage to safely reboot and re-enter download mode.
Next time just read the op

[Q] UNFIXABLE Brick?

Alright, here's the breakdown.
-I was on 2.1 Bionix Final R1
-Tried flashing beta 4 voodoo 2.1 kernel while on OCLF.
- wouldn't boot
-tried to ODIN
-Odin failed becuase i got Data Wipe Failed
-Tried the ODin that doesn't brick, didn't work, got into recovery there, and got stuck,
-tried odining the JFD after this...failed.
What do? I need my phone badly, i keep getting "Data Wiped Failed" and black screen at boot, i can get into recovery but nothing i do works...
Open odin. ALWAYS OPEN IT FIRST. Take out battery, plug into Odin, hold down volume rockers and power. Without letting go of these buttons, put the battery back in. Your phone should show up on Odin and you should be able to revert back to stock
Sent from Bionix powered vibrant! If I helped, hit the thanks button!
Try odining again, but load the 512 pit file and try checking the repartition box on the left of the screen.

This is correct, if the phone doesn't go into recovery. If it can Then:
1. Odin 1.3 or higher I use 1.7 but not real important
2. Download original Vibrant rom
3. You will need the .pit file (this is for mapping) Try using the 831 pit file if 512 is not working for you
4. you will Eugene froyo that does not brick rom.
The order is as follows:
1. Download Eugenes 'Froyo that does not brick' file.
2. Extract the files.
3. Open Odin, plug in your phone, then put it into download mode.
4. load the PIT file in appropriate area.
5. load the .tar file in the PDA area.
6. DO NOT check 're-partition'.
7. Click start, let it finish. Your phone will load and reboot into stock recovery. It will error out again. DONT panic! This is what's supposed to happen.
8. Now, pull your battery.
9. Download the 'True stock 2.1 firmware for the vibrant'.
10. Extract the files.
11. Once again, open Odin, plug in your phone, put into download mode.
12. Load the PIT file into the appropriate area and the .tar in the PDA area.
13. THIS TIME you want to check the 're-partition' box.
14. Now click start, let it finish, and this time your phone will load up just fine! You will have flashed back to the original software. From there, you can do anything,
The sbl could be an issue but this should get around that problem if not then may need to use adb .
Just make sure to remove sim and sd card if you havent all ready i would get the same error when i had those two still in my phone.
please check repartition first option to check from left an dall the other two options => also two more options below like clear cms

Flashed wrong kernel please help! Urgent!

I accidently flashed wrong kernel this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982148
while i was on stock rom with stock kernel!
how can i go back! :S
i can get into CWM Recovery, but cant flash anything. Im on clockwork mod 3.0.0.5 now!
what can i do?
Need to fix it urgently!
For future reference you can only use CM7 kernels with CM7 roms. Your going to have to Odin back to stock kernel. In CM7 you can only get into download mode with 3 buttom method. Im assuming you know how to Odin?
i did reflash using odin, but now the phone turn on and i see the tmobile screen, followed by the samsung animation, the s, after which the screen turns blank. the touch sensitive buttons respond, i can see the light change as i touch them, but i see no difference on the screen. what should i do?
Do this,
9. Load the JFD rom for the vibrant'.
15. Then, root the phone and you can flash your new Rom.
doing this method will get everything back to normal and the phone will work just like it did right out of the box
This will get you back to stock
Good luck

[Q] How to flash CUSTOM Gingerbread Bootloaders for Vibrant

I use now simply Galaxy 2.7.2 and based on Firmware Froyo 2.2.1.
I want to flash this rom Simply Honey 3.9 Revolution (JVP GB 2.3.4). I think, I need first flash via Odin "CUSTOM Gingerbread Bootloaders for Vibrant" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117990) and thereafter I can flash Simply Honey 3.9 Revolution.
Steps for Custom Gingerbread Bootloaders:
My question:
Should I flash only "Vibrant GB.tar.md5" (2,75 MB) via Odin or
should I need also flash "GBBOOT-T959UVJFD.tar" (283,74 MB)?
After sucessfull flashing Custom Gingerbread Bootloaders, can I follow these steps to install Simply Honey 3.9 Revolution:
Install Instructions
Coming from Any Gingerbread Rom (If bootloaders aren't installed or you have trouble follow steps above.)
1. You must first be running a Gingerbread rom (Doesn't matter Lindroid, Rainbows, your cousins top secret GB rom.) If you are not then please follow instructions above.
2. Place Simply_Honey_3.8_CWM_Light.zip on your SD card
3. Use rom manager or flash through recovery.
4. Let phone boot. Wait 15 minutes and reboot.
5. Enjoy
Thanks for your help,
Yasar78
The only one I used in ODIN was "Vibrant_GB.tar"
- That "GBBOOT-T959UVJFD.tar" looks like its only for if you choose to revert back to JFD. Once you get the Vibrant GB bootloader installed you'll notice the splash screen says "Vibrant" as it should. It seems that some have reverted back off of GB using ODIN and in doing so the splash screen i guess changes to say "I9000" which this .tar I assume changes it back to say "Vibrant" and BOOM! all is well again. All this is speculation on my behalf as I have not tried to revert yet, thats just how I personally understand the OP as quoted below. Good luck!

If you have Gingerbread Bootloaders installed and you end up ODINing to stock (JFD), you will notice it changes the bootsplash to I9000. You can either reflash a GB bootloader again, or simply use the ODIN package above to do so.!

I think I may be of great help to you, as I did this yesterday.
Modem=Baseband in settings>about phone
Get the latest bootloader (NK4) from sammobile's official site (Note 3 Sprint)
Download it, extract the .tar to a folder on your desktop.
Get the latest twrp recovery (2.8.0 or 2.8.1) for Sprint 4.4.4 Don't use the 2.8.3
Download SU 1.94
Download odin (version of your choice)
Right click on odin and run as administrator
Power phone completely off, I repeat completely off.
Open odin 3.04 or 3.09 (I use 3.07)
Hold vol down+home+power to boot into download mode and hit volume up to accept to continue to download mode.
Plug phone in once odin is up and phone is already in download mode.
Odin will say connected and have a blue box and say [com3] or something to that extent.
Use the AP box, check the box next to AP, once you've checked the box proceed to click on the word AP, load the .tar file of the NK4.
Uncheck auto reboot. Keep f reset time checked. Only (1) should be checked.
Click start.
Once you're sure it is done, unplug phone and remove battery.
Let phone sit for 10 seconds without battery in.
Click reset on odin.
Put battery back in and get back into download mode.
Once connected load the SAME EXACT .tar you did before. Make sure auto reboot is unchecked and f reset time is checked.
Hit start once again.
Once you're sure it is done, unplug phone and remove battery.
Hit reset on odin.
Put battery back in and get back into download mode.
Once connected load the SAME EXACT .tar you did before. Make sure auto reboot is CHECKED and f reset time is CHECKED.
Hit start. Let phone reboot itself. Once on the stock Rom. Power off device. Reboot into download mode, reset odin, load the recovery.img in AP. Keep reboot and f set time checked. Once done it will boot back into stock rom.
Power device off.
Boot into recovery (twrp) vol up+home+power
Find SU update.zip and flash in recovery.
Voila.
Make sure you're on Nk4. Settings > about phone
If you want to install a custom Rom, wipe in TWRP like normal and flash your custom Rom.
You need to do the NK4 3 times, to make sure it sticks.
I did it once, it didn't stick and I was completly pissed and didn't know what the hell happened. I spoke with Wormy my good friend and he had told me what @freeza said.
I put these directions in my own words but went off of what @freeza said. It works and is dummy proof.
Good luck to you. If you have problems please contact me, wormy or freeza for further answers.
Sorry I don't have all 3 links but you should be able to find them easy.
