[Q] Google Voice Number Unporting after Sprint line cancelation - HTC EVO 3D

Alright well I just canceled my service with Sprint so that I can return my dead pixel ridden EVO 3d.
But while I was with the phone I ported the number over to Google Voice.
I still have the number tied to my Google Voice account so I'm wondering if I can somehow have Sprint take the number back onto my next phone?

Curious to know what happened? I'm on Sprint but thinking of switching. If I port my number to Google Voice what happens if I then port my number to another carrier? Will I still have Google Voice?? Long term I'm wondering if I can't switch to a VoIP carrier and rely on wi-fi (since most of my calls are at home or at work), get the bare minimum cell and data plans.

Google Voice Dialer

Does anyone understand exactly what this does other than create an extra step while dialing? I recently called T Mo to activate the Free WiFi Calling feature after finding out that if you don't specifically ask them to activate it, minutes are still used. When I had the My Faves plan I had my GV # as one of the 5 and because of that when I used GV Dialer the calls actually were free. The T Mo Rep. said that neither GV or GV Dialer does, or was ever intended to allow free calling. I was under the impression that by design the GV number somehow used Google's servers and therefore effectively "bypassed" the use of minutes in the data plan? Any insight would be appreciated. TIA...
Google voice calls are free, the tmob rep is clueless. It doesnt count toward your minutes. International calls are a different story.

That's what I said to her. But, the response was that all it is supposed to do is be the quivalent of a "spoof number". Every time I make a call and look at My Account, it's taking the minutes. So, on the assumption they are in fact wrong, how do I get them to change it up since it's logging minutes anyways?

AT&T customers - what's the voicemail number in your settings?

If you're using AT&T's voicemail (NOT google voice), what's the voicemail number in your menu-settings-call-voicemail?
I've stopped using google voice (bad sound quality) and now I can't recover my AT&T VM number.
Calling myself doesn't work. It did before, now it doesn't.
Mine is set to +16787569922; it's a metro Atlanta number, which works for me, since that's where I live.
what also works is to just type in your own number (i know you said it does not any longer, but it should). Not sure if you have to type +1'area code' 'prefix' '4-digit number'.
anyhow in CA my VM number is +12096078211
On a different note: where did you get your phone and did you have any issues setting it up to work with ATT other than your VM problem?
Still on the Inspire but I am about ready to take the plunge, just worried that I will have issues with audio and buttons like the Captivate used to have if the radio/rom/kernal don't match.
Mine is +786-268-8989 I live in metro Miami-Dade, Florida (City of Miami).

[Q] SIP Calling (Native)

I'm a little confused on SIP setup, mainly regarding the backend services (trunk / pbx ??). Anyone care to lay it out for a noob and possibly somewhere i can look at pricing for a single number w/ outbound calling abilities?
Is there a way to configure my current Sprint number to make free calls over WIFI or simply where cell coverage does not exist but a WIFI connection does?
Thanks in advance....
Bumping for knowledge.... Does anyone in here know about SIP setup?
No, you can not. You'd need to forward your sprint calls to another number, or do the Sprint Google Voice integration then add another SIP phone number to google voice to ring at the same time.
that way when someone calls your sprint number, it's integrated with google voice, and rings your separate VOIP number as well..
Catch is, you'll have to pay for a voip/sip account somewhere that gives you a number to forward to.

[Q] Google Voice Issues Receiving Calls on HTC One

Hello everyone. I'm having a bit of an interesting issue, and while (probably) not entirely confined to my new HTC One device, I was hoping you all could give me a bit of assistance!
Yesterday I made the switch from Sprint to AT&T and received my brand new HTC One in the mail. I'm a long time Google Voice user (using since late 2009), and have used it for all texting, calling, and voicemail on all android phones I've owned. I figured when I pre-ordered my phone, for simplicity sake I would just transfer my sprint number over to AT&T so I didn't have to deal with sprint customer support cancelling my service. This seems to have caused some major problems to my use of Google Voice, however. I was able to get everything set up again, but I'm having serious issues receiving calls forwarded from Google Voice to my phone.
During my tests trying to set this up, it appears that I DO have everything configured as I had previously on Sprint. I'm able to place calls and people see my google voice caller id, I can send and receive texts through the voice app, and my conditional forwarding sends all calls (both my regular number and google voice) to google voicemail. When I receive calls, however, I'd say 95% of the time it is so slow to foward that my phone that my callers will hit voicemail before it rings my phone. The only strange thing I see in my google voice settings is that my carrier for that number keeps getting recognized as Sprint instead of AT&T.
In my troubleshooting I've linked my girlfriend's phone (sprint) to my account and a co-workers phone (at&t), both forwarded just fine immediately. At this point I'm kind of running out of ideas. I'm thinking I might run down to an AT&T after work and request a new number. Would this be a reasonable thing to do to try to solve the problem? Since i'm such a new customer, do you think I could get that 36$ new number fee waived? Not being able to receive calls forwarded from my Google Voice number is kind of a deal breaker for me, as I'm heavily reliant on that number at this point. If anyone could provide any advice/assistance it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

[Q] Google Voice Functionality with 2 Cell Phone Numbers

Hey guys, I'll be getting a company phone this week and am deciding whether to transfer my number and incur a termination fee or just use Google Voice until my contract expires.
I have been using Google Voice with the Sprint number integration and I have forgotten how exactly texts work with a Google Voice number.
I'd like to use my company phone as my only phone and not have to give out a new number to friends & family. I know I would still be able to receive calls and text to the old number on the new phone, but would I be able to send calls and texts from the old number on the new phone? Would I need to use the hangouts app to accomplish this? Or would the normal messaging app suffice?
Anyone?
