Ooookay, So, I've been working with the Evo 4G for awhile and I am pretty familiar w android.
Here is my situation
Installed Bonsai about a week ago, not bad.
Saw the TouchWiz update/rom Installed that (just now)
Did not like touchwiz.
Attempted to go back to Bonsai.
Now when I boot up, the launcher CONTINUOUSLY crashes, so i am unable to do anything at all.
How do I fix it? I just want it to be basic Rooted Bonsai again.
(P.S. Was just now lucky enough to get into the settings before it all crashed again)
How did you go back to bonsai? Fresh install, backup, restore or write over? Did you wipe before? Clear your cache(s)?

Lately (since yesterday) I have been having a weird problem. Every time I restart my phone, it resets. By resetting I mean my it looks like a fresh install. All my apps are still there but launcherpro has the fresh install look and GAPPS is asking me to install stuff. I have also been getting a lot of FC's with these restarts. I have tried going back to a earlier NANDROID and it seems to do the same thing...going ever further back now to see if it still does it. Has anyone seen anything like this before?

You flash anything or change anything with a2sd etc, before this started happening?
It's not doing it on an older NANDROID (from 4/22).
I flashed Drowning 7-6 ad then noticed it. But since my last restart before that, I've installed a lot of stuff. I will try it for a while on this NANDROID and see if it does it again after updating my apps, too many changes to rebuild from here...
Basically what happened was I flashed the Kernel (7-6) and restarted, things were fine...but then (per Drownings advice) I restarted again, and then all hell broke loose. I recovered my last NANDROID but experienced the same thing with just a restart, so now I am on an earlier NANDROID and tried a restart and all went well..Like I said I will try to update my apps when I get home (damn ATT data caps) and see what happens then...
OK...several restarts after installing updates, and everything seems normal it's definitely got something to do with either drowning 7-5 or 7-6, or n75 and/or n76.
Right now with the NANDROID I am running n42 with drowning 7 with aufs enabled (as was with the newer ROMS)
I also run DT A2SD with apps and dalvic on SD.
I will try to upgrade to n76 and drowning 7-7 in a few and see how that works out...
n76 and Drowning 7-7 has been good so far...I think the problem is solved...there was definitely something wrong with my setup that was common to the later NANDROID...thank god I saved some NANDROIDS
Wasn't there some kind of known issue with 7.6? I don't remember the details, but I seem to recall that there was some reason why I didn't flash it at the time (aside from general laziness).
Did a fresh install of n76 with S2E and Drowning 7-7, all is running smooth again and I have restarted a dozen times with no issue. After flashing over top of ROM's for the last few months there was probably some trash getting in the way, so I decided to clean house.
Hey All,
Here's the rundown. Got the tab new with version 1.2. NVFlashed to 1.1 via directions from 'Gtab for dummies' website and installed installed CWMod just fine (thanks to the Gtab for dummies web page, great work). Partitioned fine. I decided to try Vegan 5.0 and 5.1.1 Supplimental first (though, it never loaded Gingerbread Keyboard for me). Then I went back into CWMod, cleared the 3 caches, then installed the stable version of Vegan Gingerbread 7.0. Booted in ok, waited, restarted, waited. All was ok. Shut down and into CWMod and ran backup then restarted, but it looped to the dev screen and back out into CWMod. I tried reloading the backup but it seems to have failed. So I cleared out all the caches again, then reinstalled. I got it working again, backed up and was able to restart this time, but this is where it gets weird. It's running Gingerbread, but is displaying the Vegan 5.1.1 desktop. I restarted and it started back into Gbread desktop but I shut it down for the night and in the morning it was back to 5.1.1. Kind of a bummer at the moment. Everything else seems fine but I really liked the Gbread desktop with the sidebars, etc (as an aside, when it is on the 5.1.1 desktop I can't add certain widgets like the google search bar and it gives an error that "no space on this homescreen" or on any other for that matter. Any ideas? I have backed up via titanium apps+data to external sdcard, and correct me if I'm wrong, but if I had to reinstall again, would that save me the hastle of reloading all the apps? I can live with it as is though I'm a stickler for the details.
Thanks for the advice/ideas.
TB will restore all apps and data so your good there. When you reflash you just need to side load TB and then batch restore all user apps and data.
At this point I would nvflash back to stock using the stock image with cwm installed and pop in vegan7 again.
I was fearing that. I got this for the wife. She's been hastling me for an ipad for months so I got her this (or maybe for me, who's to say really?). Anyhow, she's like a hawk and I've had to sneak away to try and get it working and had to ask her to reload her apps etc. Then I had to suffer the "what do you mean it's hacked? why didn't you just get the ipad?" etc, etc, etc. I'll try your advice next time she's out and leaves it behind. Fingers crossed she doesn't find out or it will be all kinds of Wrath of Khan up in here...
I NEED HELP!
Backstory: I was on Abberation rom 1.2 and it had worked perfectly. When I installed version 1.0 it used the AROMA installer and allowed me to pick a launcher. I chose Apex launcher but I didn't install any other launchers. Superuser worked fine and it had run buttery smooth. Aberration runs Siyah kernel.
The issue: Alright, so today I was listening to music and suddenly my phone turns off. I literally was listening to music and that's it. I rebooted it and it told said "please wait android is updating" and that only happens when I flash a new kernel...which is impossible since I don't even have mobile odin installed. Then, Then it said "unfortunately, apex launcher has closed" and it would keep repeating that message, meaning I had no actual launcher to run anything from. I installed launcher pro over the air via the play store desktop version from my computer. It downloaded but wouldn't run. I got a text from my friend and the messaging app worked fine, I could text him and everything so there was nothing wrong there. Then I get home and let it charge (since it was dead). I return later and see that the battery icon that pops up when its charging and the phone is off has a loading icon on it, but it doesn't actually show the battery level. I tried to boot up, but it wouldn't. It would show a blank screen and then go back to the battery icon with a loading symbol on it. Eventually I tried to go to CWM via the three button combo and I ended up with the stock 3E recovery. I am utterly confused and need some serious help from you guys. I didn't do anything so is it the ROM's fault?
Note: I have had experience in flashing ROMs and I have done extensive research on trying to fix this. I've never seen this happen before. Did it somehow revert back to the stock kernel while it ran Aberration?
Thanks for any support or instructions you can give me. I was thinking about using creepyncrawly's instruction to unroot to stock, but it only works for gingerbread and I'm on ice cream sandwich.

If you have 3e recovery, then I suppose you have the stock kernel. I have no clue how you would have 3e recovery any other way.
I would suggest you flash back to stock and start over. It doesn't matter that you flash back to Gingerbread, because you will install a custom Gingerbread kernel and then flash whatever you want. I would suggest that you use UCKH7 plus root, and then put a Gingerbread kernel on it. Oh, and just in case, do the wipe data/factory reset in 3e recovery after you flash UCKH7, just in case, you know.
I recently flashed CM10 to my skyrocket, and started getting random reboots. This started happening on every rom I tried afterwards, so I flashed back to stock ics and tried to start over. Now, even stock ics will reboot when I touch it (it will stay running if I don't touch the phone, but simple things like going to the app drawer will make it freeze and crash). It also will boot loop most of the time. I'd say 1 in 5 tries I can actually get it to boot.
Is there some way to clear it back to stock "more"? It seems that it should be recoverable, since it does actually boot up sometimes, but I've tried the normal factory resets/ formatting, and flashing back to stock to clear any leftover problems, and I don't know what else to try.
Hello guys,
I gave my friend my EVO 3D (CDMA, Sprint) a few months ago when I upgraded to a new phone. Ever since she called Sprint to activate the phone (at the time running SOS M 2.6 ROM) she had nothing but problems. She also didn't have the Google Services packet working for some reason (all Google Apps worked fine with me, even thought hangouts was new I didn't use it on the Evo). After a while I tried to install Cyanogen on it and it failed (it won't boot and get stuck on a loop), eventually resorting to Venom, which is what she has now.
The phone is so slow it takes the keyboard 10-15 seconds to respond between button-pressing. Swipe is obviously impossible, and the phone sometimes gets stuck on boot. The whole thing is sluggish as hell. I'm not sure what going on, the phone was perfectly fine, and now after 3 ROM it's a piece of crap.
I am going to have the phone tomorrow again and I have permission to wipe it clean and try again. What I need is a ROM that has 4.0 if possible, but what's more important for me is that the thing would work smoothly. Having the 3D camera would also be nice. What ROMs would you recommend? Something that should work for sure? Anyone else have issues with Hangouts maybe?
Thanks, all suggestions welcome.

All right bro, so it's good that your phone isn't bricked, and it is just slow, so that's the first good part. I'll give you a couple of steps to help your EPIC (because 3D is epic) phone get into the fastest zone possible.
STEP 1) Flash a well-built, not in beta stages, stable rom like NegaLite-BluRom (/showthread.php?t=1745093)
STEP 2) Flash a stable, overclocked (for you) kernel. The best options are Mirage and ButteredToast. Those are the best and most common. DON'T FLASH THIS KERNEL WITH RECOVERY. Install Flash Image GUI apk on your rom (if you can't install it because of huge lag, try the adb method-check out a list of adb commands)
STEP 3) After flashing and rebooting, install an CPU manager of your choice (CPU Master is free)
STEP 4) Overlcock your phone to your need (this is probably your problem
STEP 5) Enjoy your lag-free phone.
*********************Additional Info:
NegaLite supports 3D (just check out its awesome 3D boot animation)
Its IceCream Sandwhich
It can be flashed with S-ON using 4EXT (install this before installing the ROM)
If possible with you lag, backup all your data and contacts using Titanium Backup (save you some time later)
