My boss, a pro at this Android ROM thing, installed the Bonsai ROM on my GT10.1. We uninstalled because of the weird screen. I hadn't had my tab on a charger. Now, when I hook it up to the charger, it's still saying discharging. I'm down to 30% battery life. What happened and what do I do? My boss is gone, so I'm on my own.
Answered my own question
I went to a Sprint store and bought another GT10.1. I took the charger out of the new one and plugged it into the old one. It's charging now as we speak. I tried to use the old charger one last time and still nothing. I have no idea what's wrong with it. The old charger is going back to Sprint with the new GT10.1 so I can get my $500+ back.

Hello,
I have a new SGS2 two weeks old. a few days ago my phone rebooted itself and reorganised all my apps, the next days it rebooted itself another 5-6 times. yesterday it just turned off and I needed to restart it. meanwhile I bought an additional original battery and an original samsung cradle charger on ebay
today my original battery was on 5% so I switched to the new one and put my old one in the cradle charger, when I finished the new battery and tried to use the old one that is suppose to be charged the phone is not responding with it and not charging it. My ROM is the original I havent changed anything.
Q1 anything about the rebooting problem, what can cause it? how to fix?
Q2 can the cradle charger ruine my battery?
this is my second rezound. On the first one when the battery died it could no longer charge. i tried all chargers with zero luck. i was running stock with 1.02.605.6 with root and CWM. I exchenaged it and ran clean rom 4.1 w Amon Ra 3.15. I am now having the same problem. i bought another battery so i could atleast turn it on. what could this be?
PLS HELP
You are trying the AC charger that comes with the phone?
Via Rezound using XDA Premium
yes i have tried everything including the adapter that came with the phone.
Try a car charger, could be the amperage o draw.
i bought another battery and called verizon. They are sending me a new phone. for the return i need to get this thing back to stock from clean rom 4.1. if i re lock the bootloader and run GB RU. would i be good? will that take the boot loader back? radios?
It will still show it had once been unlocked, there is a thing on htcdev about it. You may get by or you may incur the charge back it depends on how close they (VZW employees) look at it after it scans in at the VZW warehouse, once it gets back to HTC too late to charge you back, but that is the first thing our friends at HTC look for.
Really strange battery experience last night. I've never had any problems with my phone.
Last night, I put my phone on the dock (EZO) around 1am. it had about 30% charge at the time... I saw the charge light on....
This morning, I looked expected to see green and saw no light at all. When I picked up the phone, it was cold... Turning the phone one didn't work.
Plugging the std charger it came with did nothing. No charge light at all.
I put my extended battery in, and the phone came up just fine. I then put the dead std battery into the back charger of the dock and left it for a couple hours as I got ready for work.
When I got to work, I put it into the phone and it had close to a 60% charge. I plugged in the charger at work and the charge light came on. Right now it is plugged in and approaching 90%.
Not really sure what happened last night. but apparently, when the bat loses all power, charging it via the phone may not work for some reason.

NO, that would not work because your hboot is higher and the ruu will see that and fail.
I have in my possession 2 galaxy s2 i777s one of which was thought to have a charging problem which is why we got the new one. Once i got the new s2 i tried to put the new battery in the old phone and it not only powered up but it also charged. i then put the old battery in the new phone and it wouldn't charge just like before, i keep getting a boot loop where the battery symbol would flash then go away periodically about 15 seconds apart i would guesstimate, this happens for both phones with the old battery, but both phone charge the new battery. I came to the conclusion that the battery may be the problem and set out and bought a new battery and gave the old phone to my mother thinking problem solved, only to discover the problem still existed, replacement battery wont charge same boot loop. Thinking lightening did strike twice and the battery was faulty i returned it and got another one same problem, boot loop when charging or connecting the usb to the PC. I tried the battery in my new phone same problem, i looked at the specifications on the battery to see if they were the same and yes they were exactly the same:
1650 mAh,
3.7 li-ion
6.11wh
made in china
i have MULTIPLE usb cable that are compatible and MULTIPLE chargers that are compatible and i have tried them ALL. a person suggested i take the battery out plug in the phone then place the battery in while plugged in, didnt work. i tried cleaning the contacts on the battery and the phone itself and nothing, the new phone is rooted but the old one however was bricked in an attempt to root then factory reset, i dont know if this plays a part in it, but remember the battery from the new phone charges in both phones and the the replacements dont charge in any. i had tested the old battery in the new phone before it was rooted or had any apps or anything on it and it did the same thing, boot loop.
any suggestions?
im new to the whole do it yourself root and rom thing so please keep that in mind when tossing certain phrases around.
Edit:
ok after searching some more i eventually found out the reason for this was because the battery I bought was incompatible, though the guys at the store said the battery would work for the i777 which it did, it turns out there is something different about the standard of which the battery was built.

Based on everything you've said, I would strongly suspect bad (or incorrect) batteries. You must have I777 replacement batteries. Ones made for the GT-I9100 will likely not work. I suspect that is your problem.
Updated "Please help: VZW S4 not charging..." (The refurb/replacement is busted)
First of all, big thanks to this whole community and the wealth of info that led me through my first time rooting and flashing ROMs. But now on to the sour part (search didn't bring up anything useful to my situation).
Short history of phone in case it helps:
I've been rooted since June (rooted on MDK). I've been on the CM 10.1 and then 10.2 nightlies ever since. I've followed all directions, and am glad to say that I had a great experience (a few hiccups from dirty flashing a few times, but nothing that couldn't get sorted). Last ROM I was on was CM 10.2 nightly from 2013-10-11.
Anyway, last night my battery gets low, but I didn't charge it right away. It got down to about 8%, and then I try to charge, but the battery icon doesn't indicate charging. Indeed after a few minutes fiddling, the % drops to 7%. Trying to charge it while powered off caused the phone to vibrate once every 5-10 seconds or so, but no LED or on-screen indication it's charging. I tried my wife's S4 charger and cable. Same result, not charging. I restored to a previous CM nightly backup I had from September. Same result, still not charging. I restored to my rooted stock ROM backup made right after I first rooted in June. Same result, not charging. Charging from the wall or PC doesn't make a difference. I ended swapping batts with my wife, using her stock never-been-rooted S4 to charge my batt, which worked just fine.
The USB port on my phone does work since I could see the device in Odin. Tried reflashing the stock kernel. Still not charging. I spent the rest of last night restoring to out-of-the-box stock. Now I'm back to a completely stock, unrooted S4 (still on MDK kernel, haven't accepted update to ME7), and it still won't charge. No notices or anything that the charger is connected. Except this morning, for no reason discernible to me, I now get the following warning message when I connect my or my wife's charger:
"The connected charger is incompatible with this phone. To prevent damage to your phone, charging has been stopped. To continue charging, use the original charger and cable that were provided with this phone."
Thoughts, please? And thanks in advance to you all.
Update 1 at 2013-10-13T17:30EDT
So I did some more digging and came across what looks like a similar problem (that's what I get for not using Google for search anymore). Sorry, can't post links yet.
forums.androidcentral.com/rogers-samsung-galaxy-s4/297925-samsung-galaxy-s4-not-charging-grey-battery.html
The biggest difference is that I don't get the grey battery symbol when plugged in while powered off, just the cyclic vibrating. And mine doesn't charge at a reduced rate at all (I lost 7% battery in 45 minutes while plugged in and powered off due to all the vibrating).
Further, my "incompatible charger" warning has ceased. I'm just back to the phone not recognizing a charger is plugged in at all. Phone still talks to my PC just fine though.
Is it likely I need to replace the USB charging port flex cable as suggested in the Android Central post? Thanks for anyone reading and pondering.
Did you try to flash back to stock?

Yes. I flashed via Odin back to unrooted stock (MDK kernel) and stock recovery, which is the phone's current config. I haven't yet done the ME7 update, but it auto-downloaded today, just haven't installed it.
How long have you had the phone? My suggestion would be to make another backup and put it on your computer. Then restore back to full stock, no root or anything. Take it to Verizon / Best Buy and tell them it's not charging. Hopefully it's not water damaged.

I've had the phone since the end of May (so I've owned it 4.5 months). Since I've already restored to full stock, I'm thinking tomorrow I'll take it to a VZW store near me to see what they say. Is Samsung's manufacturer warranty handled through VZW? Or do I deal with Samsung directly? Note, I have no extra insurance/warranty on the phone.
That should be manufacture warranty and you normally have1 year from purchase. Good luck and again just ensure you completely wipe it off all root and custom Roms. They'll try to blame it on that.

Back to VZW to replace the replacement phone
Update:
I went to my local VZW store on Monday and they tried cleaning the USB port. No luck, so they shipped me a refurb since this is still under the 1 year hardware warranty. I paid the extra for overnight shipping. My refurb phone arrived yesterday. I moved over my sim, micro SD, and battery from the old phone to the refurb/replacement phone, and plugged in the wall charger. BOOM, battery starts charging no problem :victory:. I spent last night getting my phone all set up. I also checked and this phone has the ME7 update so no more CM or any other ROM for now :crying:.
But otherwise, everything looked good with the replacement device...until this morning. I had the phone powered off all night, tried turning it on this morning and it won't turn on. Won't boot normally, won't boot into recovery, won't boot into download. Tried a battery pull...no luck. The phone had like 95% battery when I shut it off last night. Now, when I plug in the wall charger, the phone buzzes once, the grey battery icon with the circle shows up for 10-15 seconds, then the screen goes blank, then that sequence repeats.
Back to VZW today to get the replacement phone replaced .
dang...you have some bad luck. I had some similar issues and the phone seemed to fix itself?? Did not want to lose custom recovery, so actualy ordered an external charger and two batteries and of course the day the batteries came, the phone started charging normally again. Anyways...good luck...hopefully the new device wont have the newest update (which i dont think it's ota yet...just over wire). Dont let the store update anything at all or you may not even be able to root!
Hi all,
I've had this particular DNA for just about a year now. Everything has been going great, rooted since day 1, currently running the latest ViperROM.
I've been nearly exclusively using wireless chargers with this phone and recently picked up a few more chargers so that I really never have to plug the phone in (my USB cover is dangerously close to falling off and I'm trying to avoid that).
Last Friday afternoon the wireless charging suddenly started acting up on me. It worked perfectly up until that point including a full charge the previous night and a partial charge that morning. Since then I cannot get the phone to charge wirelessly anymore.
I'll put the phone on the pad, and it will begin charging. After about a minute or so, it'll stop. I'll pick the phone up and put it back on the pad, and it'll start again, but then stop even quicker. Pretty soon it'll rapidly start and stop charging and then give up all together and I won't be able to get it to charge at all. It seems that I can get it to charge about 2% before it gives up and won't charge.
Nothing has changed with the phone, so would you agree that this is a hardware issue or do you think software could be affecting it?
I really don't want to have to shell out another $100 for a replacement (this is already a replacement, I dropped the original) and I'll probably get a factory refirb with only a 90-day warranty where who knows, I might get stuck with this issue again in a few months...

Have you tried other wireless chargers to see of that was the issue or do you know for a fact it's the phone?
Does the phone have some kind of case on it that could be thick enough to interfere with the way it charges?
Sorry if these questions sound dumb, I did however read the whole op. Just trying to cover all bases.

I just asked a similar question. I have the same symptoms. I've been wondering if it's a rom issue. The only solution I've found is someone said that it worked for them if a usb cable was plugged into the phone but nothing on the other end. So, they turned off usb debugging and the issue was resolved for them. Didn't work for me, but maybe it'll work for you.
I am on Viper Rom 2.5.0 and have used various 1.x and 2.0.x versions without any wireless charging issues.
