I have been a contributing member forever, I never post useless things. I remember when the first CM7 thread came along there were instructions right in it on how to revert back to 2.2 if you wanted to.
Now there are 30 cm7 threads and I cant find links to anywhere, and a search is useless.
Could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
I just odin to stock, afaik thats still the best way to get back.

You created a thread for this??
Q: How do I go back to a Samsung stock ROM?
A: The easiest way is to go back to stock using Odin and flashing a full firmware (including PIT file) with repartition checked (Odin One-Click does this by default on Captivate)

I'm considering trying out some of the new Kernels and rom's that are out now but want to have a fail safe to get back into stock. I've been searching and couldn't find anything that tells you how to do this.
Anybody have a link or know of a method for this?

Hi to all,
I installed custom rom on my Vibrant sgh-t959 but now i want the stock rom that was on the phone. Can someone give me link to the stock rom?
Thanks
.... really? go back out of this thread and scroll to the top of the forum. First Post the one Stickied at the top.(it's in BOLD) As rude as this sounds you really need to read stickies as they are stickied for a reason.
Depends if you got the phone with 2.1 or 2.2....
- If it was 2.1 then ODIN using any guide
- If it was 2.2 then there is an "Official" stock build out there in "Development" by whitehawx, its not in the "Bible" so ur gonna have to search for it.
Good luck!

I knew the Vibrant came stock with 2.1 and 2.2!!!!! Thats awesome, glad you found it! How did you find it? Was it a simple Google search that brought you to it?..... I bet it was
Hey all-
I upgraded to stock ICS when Kies informed me of the update. It was a bad idea... horrible battery life - I went from about 22 hours to 7 hours if I'm lucky. It's so bad I went out and purchased an extended battery just to get through the day.
I've been watching and searching the forums for a while, but I've had trouble finding instructions on how to get back -- I'm even OK getting into a custom ICS rom. I am vulnerable to the brick bug, so I've been a little hesitant there as well.
Anyway... just hoping someone can point me to a thread on how to do it. I'm sure it exists, but my searching hasn't really found me anything definitive (or at least definitive that I was able to identify).
Thanks!

You gotta go back to stock GB first. Then you can root with CWM.

Thanks for those links. Reading through them I see a lot of talk about having to do a wipe... yet I read another thread from someone who said doing a wipe with ICS can brick me. Have I misunderstood something somewhere?

Yes. Don't wipe using the stock ICS kernel. Once you flash back to GB it should be fine.
Need to get my mom's phone rooted.
I follwoed the instructions in one of the threads that didn't have a disclaimer that it was gingerbread only and tried to odin a gingerbread root kernel onto an ICS stock rom.
I have since mistakenly tried to odin a CWM recovery, and odin d_ag's overclock kernel. None of this worked, can someone help?
(I now get stuck at the samsung boot screen.)
Use odin to flash the correct rooted ICS kernel.
Would the kernel on this page work?

no thats not an ics kernel if you can't follow the simple instructions of how to do this on the sticky thread and even worse can't find an ics kernel after help is given maybe you should leave your phone alone or theres a good chance we are going to see you open up a help I bricked thread. Just sayin

I DID follow the instructions found in the thread. However, there was no warning the method only worked gingerbread. I've been looking through the Android Development page for root4.0 kernel, and I don't see any as they are all either 4.1 or 4.2.
I appreciate the concern though.
If you could point me in the direction or a thread in which I can find a rooted ICS kernel, that would be great.

Maybe I really am a huge idiot but...I can't find an ICS root Kernel in there. Every time I find a link the download is busted.
Update:
I managed to fix it.
Q&A for [ODIN] Stock ROM Collection
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [ODIN] Stock ROM Collection. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
2.3.5 Gingerbread ODIN file
I am in desperate need of a stock ODIN file for samsung fascinate. All the links I can find are years old and no longer work. If anyone has a valid file I can use to restore my fascinate to stock and get it working again, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot! That's what I've been looking for. So, now that I can get it back to stock and actually make a backup this time, do you know of any other places where I can find custom ROMs? I know this is a very old device and I don't know if anyone is even still developing for it. Thanks.

Yep, go back up of level and you well find these 4.2_and older
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=4298
And here you will find some 4.3 & 4.4 versions
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=7312
BUT please read up on their actual thread to find about quirks and problems and what actually works.
Hint 4.3 had no 3g data
Those 4.4 did but the fascinate has very picky procedure to get it onto kitkat
Quite a few of the ROM links i have up i put link to the thread in the description to help out.
None of these are My ROMs I only was providing a host site to locate these hard to find items.
Unfortunately the fassy forum is virtually dead and has been so for about a year now...

The free mirrors are at the salvation army, you just gotta walk away with it at a brisk pace and they don't bother chasing you, like in tokyo drift.

Still a few of us left
I could not figure out how to delete my original post to give a formal update on the service I received from OneClickRoot. I will give a full update when I get done with my errands but I will say that OneClickRoot was finally able to root my device. They also gave a full refund for my troubles since the process was not the smoothest. I will post again later tonight for sure though to give a full update and to give my opinion on whether or not I would give them my referral.

Is the cwm4_fixed_for_cm7-ODIN.tar have clockworkmod recovery? And which section do I use for it? Will any Fascinate model work? Does it support 2.3.4?
