There is no official release. It all preinstalled at your device. You can only upgraded from your carrier or htc website. or else flash a custom rom.
Most versions cooked here are a leaked or test ROM.
Our chefs cook this leaked/test rom as a custom rom with various build/version.
In case you want to cook it your own rom, here is the link to start:

So, i've heard that when installing the newest official rom for Hero, you cannot root it the way we used to, do this prevent me from installing the modaco rom? If so, what do i need to do to install the modaco rom instead?
The Modaco custom ROM is pre-rooted so you don't have to do anything else after flashing.
Yea, that's fine, but can i just install it over the rom i already have? Or do i need to do something to prepare the phone for the new custom rom, since apparently after installing the new official rom, a new hboot get's installed which makes rooting impossible, almost, or so i've heard.
Have you look at the following thread already?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559613&highlight=hboot
That has instructions that you need to follow... And then you can flash Modaco custom.
I have a HTC HD2 from T-Mobile USA. Now, I dont want that T-mobile customization including the "Stick Together" start up screen. I think I can do a ROM installation.
Also, I have SPL installed. Is there anyway to install a HTC Original ROM without installing HSPL ?
I need a latest HTC Original ROM to flash my device. Also, I need HTC Sense in it.
Can anybody give me the link to download the latest version of this?
Also, how can I take a backup of full phone to restore, if it didnt work?
Can anybody help me?
it's good that you couldn't find an original rom, because IT WILL DESTROY YOUR PHONE.
your phone cannot take ANY official roms except the tmo us official roms.
the radio in all other officiall roms is not compatible with the tmous, and your phone will never work again.
you can change the stick together screen without changing rom, but you do need hspl3 to do it.
search for
hd2 splashscreen

Search for Stock ROMs in the forum and you will find HTC ROMs. You can also get it on HTC website.
You won't be able to change ROM without installing HSPL.
The stock ROM comes with HTC sense.
You can use various backup options including PIMbackup (for msgs and calls and stuff), SPBbackup for full backup including registry settings and stuff.

BUT as sam said above, a STOCK HTC ROM will kill the TMOUS HD2 due to the radio , it will brick it most likely.
So You do not Want a STOCK HTC ROM on a TMOUS HD2 ...
i repeat ......

no, not 'any' custom rom, only roms that say 'tmous compatible'
Do you know you are in the 'regular hd2' section?
You should go to THIS forum instead.
Thank you.
Going to try out Android today for the first time(hopefully) and since this new rom was released yesterday(tmobile US) I was wondering should i just skip it and go straight to cooked roms or should i do this update first and then proceed from there?

if you have compatible Radio version on your device you don't need to use this Rom Update to get Android!
If not yes you can use this rom, but way you will use a stock rom is Custom rom can give you even access on WM 6.5.X instead of the older WM 6.5!?
Hi, there are rumors that samsung will publish the 4.1 Jelly Bean soon, can i upgrade directly to 4.1 since i'm using checkrom 3.5 ? if not, will there any possible ways to do it ? Thank you
you will not get any OTA or KEIS update being on a custom ROM, either you have to flash stock rom from ODIN to get update or direct flash the update (latest FW) from ODIN when it is released. Or you can flash custom ROM of JB form the current Rom

after update from ODIN, can i still have the update when i change back to a custom ROM ?
please read the stickies & FAQ for more information about Custom Roms & all
normally Custom Roms are made from the latest official release...and the cusotom ROMs developers release the updated versions of their ROMs integrating the latest updates from Samsung. you can flash those on your previous versions.

Hi, I was wondering what to do as regards the version of stock to use for my rom... I've seen custom roms based on stock that work globally but most stock downloads are for a specific county. I dont know what to do right now as i dont want to put in the effort of building a custom rom if only people in my country can use it. please tell me there is an international version of the firmware...
