Looking for a working 2.3 rom with working wifi calling tried the unofficial cm7 that states it has stable build that has working wifi calling but this is not truth it just sits at connecting and goes no further..
Pick and choose in the Android forum. Just read the change logs and bugs portion.
Thanks but I'm looking for a more direct answer I've been losing through the forums but don't have a lot if time to sift

it works for me you I am a tmobile user in san francisco with a p509 as far as 2.3 ROMs its as good as it gets unless you want to try the Official V20 (witch by the way when i did it killed my data all together had to reflash original firmware thru KDZ) otherwise you can try some of the 2.2 ROMs like VOID or LOL rom

Long Story short I would have to walk down the block to use my phone at work. Wifi calling is a necessity. When I got my phone it was already flashed to a ROM that to this day I have no clue what it is. I know it is some version of JK6. Anyways Wifi calling is decently stable though I am having some minor issues with wifi connection and my battery is awful. If I flash a new modem would this interfere with the wifi calling's stability?
And having that in mind is there a list of what ROMS include wifi calling? (or can it be installed on any ROM, because I would really like to try Axura or Nero) but I can not go without it on my phone.
Thanks!

I'm sure it can work with axura, I've tried it, not sure about nero, but it should work.
The devs removed wifi calling from roms because its a HUGE battery hog, but I'm sure you can find a .apk on xda, or 4 shared.
I'm running Nero V3 and Wificalling works fine. It even seems to work better then my old JK2 based ROM. I'm using the .apk linked from the slightly better gingerbread theme found here in the vibrant themes section.
Flash a new rom and if the rom does not have the .apk just d/load it... no issues at all with the new roms.
Thanks guys I wasnt sure if the program was ROM Specific or required certain files/settings blah blah blah. But if it should work with any newer Rom I guess I should just get over this fear of flashing and pull the trigger. monkey1911 Ill give that a search right now so at least I can put it in my arsenal. Ill let y'all know my results. Thanks for the help!
I finally took the leap tonight and flashed nero 4.1 (maybe ill do 5 eventually but I like this for my first flash.)
I installed wifi calling and it works great. Had a struggle restoring my contacts because what's on google contacts is not correct and it wants to override what I restored using titanium which is correct so I had to shut it off and re restore the contacts after.
Only issue I am having is my camera advises me the firmware is not current and says continue yes or no. Any fix for this? Thanks for the help guys I am finally glad I got the audacity to flash

Hey fellow xda members,
I have to check out my sisters vibrant this weekend.... (she is so not tech friendly)
Its her 3rd vibrant and all had same issues... Rebooting, dropping signal and data and the whole not sending sms and mms messages.... She talked to tmobile and they had no clue and essentially gave up on her....
What are my options to trying to get this working for her. And/or what can/should say to T-mobile about resolving this issue... They offered her an exchange at one time but it was a very low end phone... Not a good deal if u ask me..
1. Tried rooting on her first phone-wasnt successful...(i didnt root it so not sure)
2. Possible bad kernel or radio causing these issues... Hard to believe that 3 phones .
3. Still running stock software as tmobile told her not to update phone to latest software . (she did that with her 2nd phone and same result)
4. Could rooting and a finished rom resolve some or most of her issues?
(I have had several android phones and all were rooted so i know)
5.... CLUELESS....
Well if your trying to update your phone to froyo id recomend you to flash a custom rom from the vibrant developement if you dont know how to root your fone download the vibrant toolbox on your pc and it has like 10 steps (all of them are in order so you wont get confused and since your phone its not rooted theres and option that says ROOT YOUR PHONE start from that step.. click on that box and it tells you the steps and what you should do but you must have usb debbugin ebabled

Naw its all good I know how to root just not too sure if a custom rom would correct the issues she is having.

Try it if its still the same go to SETTINGS, WIRELESS AND NETWORKS, MOBILE NETWORKS make sure that the USE PACKET DATA box is checked and if motbtry to contact one of the devs one of them could be WHITEHAWKS or somethin lik that... they are gona tell you what to do

Odin to 2.1 then d/l rom manager then root then get Biwinning or Trigger or ZenDroid all are Froyo roms all will resolve you problems
The problem you are having is a result of human action......... the chances of 3 phones all having the same problem is like winning the Lotto.......
Human action I love it!!!! Lol will show my sister that. . Lol

I went over to my families house the other day and my sister said, "look its doing it again". When I looked over the phone was shutting down and rebooting. I asked her if it did that alot and she said it had just started in the past few days. She did not mention dropping data connection or having problems with sms or mms. A while back I rooted her phone and added MobileAP but that is all. Everything else is still stock and no official updates were applied either.
My plan is to backup all her stuff this weekend and flash something onto it. I told her we would find a good stable ROM for her and some theme options she would like and just do it all on sat or sun. I'm not sure if that is gonna fix her problem as I wanna believe its a hardware defect but she doesn't wanna exchange it just yet and I'm done arguing with her. If that doesn't werk I told her we would have to put it back to stock and call T-mobile. That's our plan, hope it helps on ur decision. Good luck!
@kawika thanks it didnt help lol
Im going to root her phone and install Iunno looking at a 2.2 rom maybe...Trigger rom.
I cant believe that three phones later she has same issues.. Specially since her hubby and daughter have a Cliq xt and have better reception then hers...
? do i need to install a new modem/radio as well as flashing rom? And how do I know which is the right one?

And you stated in the OP, she is on stock software. For sure? The rebooting when signal dropped low was a bug in the services.jar of our initial i9000, android 2.2.1 ports. This was of course patched by Eugene373 with further work by birgertime (and some fumbling by myself) in the official ports of 2.2.1 for the Vibrant. If she is definitely on stock software with no mods though, then that doesn't apply, but was my first instinct.
Most roms we have out now, with the exception of GingerCloneR3, come bundled with modems. They are most likely the modem that the rom chef/dev likes the best, but you can always flash a new modem on top of a custom rom. Different users in different areas have different results with different modems. Gotta test them to see what works the best for her.
Flashable modems are all here, courtesy of scrizz: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868774
Those can be flashed over any rom, just make sure you grab a 2.2 modem for froyo, or 2.1 for eclair respectively.
You might want to start with running Odin to flash her back to stock software, and then go from there. If you are going to do that, I recommend a modded Odin package by Eugene, available here: http://eb-productions.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=samsungsgs&action=display&thread=3 . Its stock-ish JK2 Froyo for the Vibrant, already rooted, with superuser and busybox, and modded 2e recovery so you can easily flash and install Clockwork Recovery if you choose to do so. That file is my go to, when all else fails and I need to get back to stock.
Good luck with your endeavors, hope some of this helps.
she is def on stock 2.1 for sure.!.
thanx... will keep yaz informed heading on the road now.. b there in 5plus hours
This sounds very familiar to problems my Vibrant was having. It turned out to be a flakey SIM card. I went to my local T-Mobile store and they swapped it for a new one at no charge. That fixed all of my SMS & connectivity issues. It might be worth a try, it definitely wouldn't hurt anything to get a new SIM card put in.
Lol she had one replaced as well and same issue..

Wow the selection of ROMs for my shiny new SG2 is amazing. I got mine from Expansys and was going to stick with the stock ROM but the constant switching from 3G to H+ was driving me nuts and I would lose data connectivity every few seconds. As a result I decided to give a custom rom a try. Right now I have the Cognition S2 rom installed and will test it out for a few days but I was wondering if some of you have already gone down this path and found a good/stable rom for AT&T. Most important to me is stability, battery life and reliable data/call connectivity.
Turn off fast dormancy *#9900# been with Cog for awhile and loving it.
There is no Best ROM, different stokes for different folks and all. You really should just test around and see what works best for you.

I guess I shouldn't have said "best" - what I really meant what - looking for some success reports from people running particular roms/modems with AT&T. More often than not reply posts are from users outside of the USA so I was finding it tough to gauge issues here in the states. Of course this is to be expected since none of our carriers are selling the phone yet.
Illicit Hero - thanks I did turn off fast dormancy based on the recommendation in the Cognition instructions.
im with fido, which is rogers which is AT&T and I cant say there are any problems with any of the roms. I am however using Criskelo at the moment without a single problem
ROMs are generally non region specific and the most you may have todo is put in the correct apn settings for Internet and mms, but there is a thread for at&t apn settings so you should be covered there.
As far as modems, just work your way though them till you find one that works well for you, your best bet is starting the with newest and working down till you find a good one.

^ what he said. There is no region specific roms. All roms work fine, just enter the apn if it doesn't register automatically.
I use leomar rom for stock, it has every possible customization and theme available thru rom kitchen app. And then there is cm 7 for pure android fun.

On 3UK I have found all but KE7 and KH1 have been trash for me
Download speed wouldnt top 100Kbps vs 200Kbps up! and poor signal.
Ive been looking around throughout the forum and I cant seem to get a grasp on which Radio gives the best speeds and what rom should it be running.
Should it be a Stock Rom or should it be a Custom rom?
If so, Gingerbread, Ice Cream Sandwich, or JellyBean?
+1

CyanogenMod9 and included kernel are stable, good set of extras added to ICS, the modem (I think it is stock), works well. Seems like it is still a little early for CM10 (still some areas that need to be imporved). Only drawback is that it does not include Touchwiz Intercase however, 3rd party apps bring back the pen functionality (for notes and drawing).
Someone posted a link to a Google map that shows best radios FOR YOUR AREA. I recall reading the post and seeing it but you have to use a PC for the search. Look around for Google radio locator etc. I'll look too

I use this Liquid smooth ROM ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1863291 ) it's awesome! Do a backup and load with TWRP. And I use the latest icsblaze modem. I get H+ but it never says 4g am I doing something wrong? I get pretty good ~6mb speeds. Let me know guys.

I've flashed stock and custom gingerbread roms (touchwiz), stock and custom ics roms (cm9, stock touchwiz, aosp, aokp), the t-mobile note rom, and various jellybean (cm10, slim bean, etc.) roms. I've flashed every radio modified for use with t-mobile from all the modem threads including the t-mobile note radio. At the end of the day, cm9 rom (stable or nightlies) / ICS blaze modem combination works best on my phone.
I live in NYC. I consistently get about 15mbps down / 1.5mbps up (sometimes 2.5mbps up) with this rom / radio combo. The only issue I have is that a phone reboot causes my speed to drop to around 600kbps down and almost nothing up (like 25kbps).
Reflashing the radio and driving around to allow my phone to connect to various cell towers gets my speed back up to 15mbps down / 1.5mbps up. For the life of me I don't understand why. However, if I don't do this, my speed will be stuck at 600kbps down / 25kbps up indefinitely. The good thing for me is the cm9 rom on my phone is pretty solid (I rarely have to reboot) and I commute everyday so (if I have a reboot) it's just a minor inconvenience until I start driving. Then my speed comes back.
radio combo
I Myself installed Saurom and tmobile radio vlk1 i beleive its called. .. I got it from zedomax,s site....rootgalaxynote.com and it seems to do the trick. ..my best was 13 down and 3 up. ...........not sure if this is the best combo but i tried a ics stock rom for note and blazeics modem and my speeds didnt come close. ..... But dont get me wrong id like to run a custom ics or jellybean rom and grt good speeds but i find gingerbread and the radio thats on zedomaxs site runs hella faster...i have adw ex i run and its good enough for me. ..if anyone knows a awesome ics rom with radio that has super speeds lemme know. ..i useually run AOKP roms... Word good luck people

Hi, I'm looking for the faster and good looking roms for koodo mobile (not telus, its screw signal)
I've Cyanogenmod 7 v10 with a custom koodo baseband (to work on the 5830D )but it's look like its still screwing my signal (random disconnect, its work half the time, the others half I need to go choose telus provider again and again (even if i'm on koodo)
I think its about the koodo CSC not in the rom and i dont think i can add them manually
If you have advices or roms, or how to manually add CSC, please help me i'm desesperate, I dont want to run an old mod from 1 years ago because theyre is almost no development for customs koodo roms
Errr... You already posted this and it got closed. Stop asking. You won't get an answer.

No best ROM, but...
First things first, there is no "best ROM". That's a matter of opinion. That said, I was really happy with APOCALYPSE, and right now I'm trying out DROID ACE V2.
I've tried several ROMS, and most I didn't like right away. But Itasoulas did some phenomenal work with MIRACLE and APOCALYPSE. Hopefully I'm just as happy with DROID ACE V2 (I just installed it, so it's too early to say, but I didn't want to uninstall it right away, at least).
Hope this helps.
actually, i dont want the BEST roms, I know its depend on everyone, I'm looking for roms that work with KOODO, or customs made for it (its a samsung 5830 D )
in case you didnt noticed, I removed every ''best'' in my text, so i'm just looking for something that work on koodo
i've tryed a fews and everytime I get signal problems (even if I load the baseband with ODIN)
you can resume what i'm asking by : is there ANY RECENT ROMS that work on KOODO? (GT-5830D and baseband DTLKI4) specific for Koodo
Kevenlekiller was doing some works but its not upgraded anymore (since one year)
I dont want to be a pain in the a** but I have this phone, half bricked because I cant use any roms...
either I use an old roms, use it working half time or I bring it back to stock
At least, do anyone know how to upgrade or install new CSC to the phone ? (its maybe my problems, phone only show telus, rogers and bell number)
I have this phone from Koodo. Stock is the best, flash via odin. I currently use S5830XWKTQ_S5830OXXKT4_S5830XWKT8_HOME.tar.md5 (2.3.6) with the koodo Modem_S5830DTLKI4.tar. No problems with cell signal, GPS, 3G/HSDPA, plus the battery life is great and apps like netflix work great...and games run much better than Koodo's 2.3.4. Make sure you do a factory reset data from the settings menu after flashing.
I'm using this phone with Koodo, and all the roms I mentioned in earlier post work fine.
