Hi Jim,
Yes, our HTC EVO 3D will have an unlocked bootloader.
Katie
So this is great news for us
I have my fingers crossed that it will be that simple.
But I really think that they are going to spend the dev time on the GSM version to push it to market, and leave us CDMA users behind for a while.
Wow, you guys are lucky.
remember the sprint version was supposed to be unlocked as well and you see they didn't do what they said they were going to do ,but good luck on yours .

They never said the Sprint versino would be unlocked at launch.
Isn't HTC already unlocking the bootloaders in August though? It just looks like our phones will ship with the newest firmware/bootloader.
Hmm I wouldn't be surprised by the time rogers gets theirs we have the first update that preps the phone to be unlocked.
The sensation bootloaders are to be unlocked in august, the evo 3d in september so they most likely will have the latest firmware at launch.

I do not see those last two words in your original quote. Might be waiting months like we are for that unlock...
If theirs truely is unlocked at launch, is it possible to flash the bootloader over or impossible because the GSM bootloader won't be compatible with the CDMA phone?
Could they learn from from the GSM version? Pretty sure... Can you flash it right over to the CDMA version? Not a chance in hell... =/
im currently waiting for a response from Rogers for if the unlocked bootloaders will be available at launch.
So now that it's launched... is it true? Has anyone brought home a Rogers E3D that has an unlocked bootloader?

It is likely a very safe idea to not even try to flash it...if it would even allow it.
...and we're still not sure what HTC means by 'unlocked bootloader'...even though that would suggest that they all come 's-off' I highly highly doubt that. would it be as simple as "fastboot oem unlock" ?? That's more likely but I still doubt that. I am very curious to see exactly wtf they do to ship things unlocked.
...I would be surprised if they didn't ship locked and encrypted to the gills. Though they will likely have their 'unlock signup/trade in your warranty' website live for launch, which sounds most likely.

Just got one, S-ON unfortunately.
Bootloader will not be unlocked until HTC releases their Web Application method of implementation.
As usual, Rogers talks out of their ass...

Hi Andy,
When we announced the HTC EVO 3D coming to Rogers, we communicated that the device would launch with an unlocked bootloader (as Katie wrote above). Our apologies – we have since learned that the device will not be shipped unlocked. For more information on webtools, please visit the HTC website ww.HTCdev.com. If you decide to make a change, please note that some actions may void warranties.

Please note , that katie was also unlocked from her employment at rogers for even remotely implying that you could uninstall our carrier bloatware.

Hey, got a text from CarphoneWarehouse yesterday about the HTC EVO3D finally being available here in London. Was so excited when I read it > planning to go and get it off them tomorrow on contract with t mobile (upgrade).
Question: have the bugs from the US evo3d been fixed in the European one and are there any differences in our one? Like the gold/bronze trim n Android 2.3.4 right out of the box.
Those who have it, can you guys sum up how much you love your phone and why it's so awesome, so I can get a bit more hyped up (this will also help put any doubt in my mind to go away)
Thanks!
Can't wait to get this phone! :-D
PS. I'm upgrading from a rooted android 2.3.5 Oxygen Rom HTC Desire (original)
its the best, just get it.
Yup just got it on an 18 month contract with CarphoneWarehouse (on t-Mob) - They said its an unlocked phone
Any recommendations guys n gals?
EDIT:Oh yeah I just ordered this case http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0053Z60W4
For those of you who may not own a DNA yet, at this time Verizon has mixed stock of older DNA's mixed in with those that have been updated to the current, unlockable system version. To save yourself some trouble until the OTA get's cracked, I am going to show you how to identify quick which version is on the device you are purchasing. This may afford you the opportunity to ask the salesperson to check for an older device. Just remember that as soon as you power it on, it's going to be looking to update. I advise you to come right back here and get your phone unlocked and rooted before it won't allow you to postpone the update any longer.

As you can see circled on the box, without even turning on the device, we can see if the device you're buying shipped with the OTA. If you see the 1.15.605.4, you can let them activate that and then get it home, get it set up and get yourself protected before it updates.

What are you going to do? Wait for a new method?
I posted in the other thread, but I bought one off Craigslist a couple weeks ago with 2.04 installed. I lost my patience this morning and bought one off Swappa that is already rooted and S-Off'd. I will post mine up and try to get the same money, which I should be able to get.
I shouldn't be out any money and if so, just a little bit. It just takes some time obviously.
Did the same thing wiseguy. Funny thing is I was going to buy the same one from Kenyatta on swappa but I bought one for a bit more as it had a wireless charging pad. He took too long to respond about wether the phone was S-Off or not.

I'm gonna hang in there unless I can score a pre-ota device with a smashed screen or hurt real good. I'm not afraid to swap motherboards if needed.

Hey guys, I'm on AT&T and am fed up with the locked bootloader crap.
When the Note 4 is released on T-Mobile, I'm making the jump.
How long after release was root found for the TMO S5? Was it available right away or did you guys have to wait a couple weeks to get it?
Just trying to get an idea on this since root is a requirement for me. And I want to get the Note 4 on T-Mobile. Wondering if I should jump on a pre-order or wait till a couple weeks after launch.
It was basically rootable right when it was released because the bootloader was unlocked.

Hi all,
Tomorrow, I am trading my phone in for the Galaxy Note 5.... I know, but my faithful M8 has served me a wonderful year and a few odd months. I have S-Offed the phone, as well as root, and unlocked the bootloader.. I know I need to flash the phone back to stock, but I need to cover my rear with this one. How can I make it look like the phone wasn't tampered with? I am installing the factory RUU tonight, but other than that, I don't know what else to do, I have to mail the phone into AT&T.. Please help!
