Bolt Browser is a light weight web browser, its been out for ages on Blackberry and a few other devices that can use java apps, it's a bit similar to Dolphin HD. When I was using it on my Blackberry Curve before I switched to Android it would crash all the time, but I used to persevere with it because it was the only way to get the full Facebook and Twitter sites on Blackberry.
It might be worth downloading. I'll download it and test it and report back if it is worth downloading or not.
Roland

It's a little laggy for me, but that could be due to it being in Beta atm. well worth a download though.
Roland

I am using this browser, somehow it opens much faster pages than opera mini and has its own IP server.

File hosting sites don't work on flyer?

So I tried downloading various files and filetypes from.different websites who all use either Megaupload or 4shared and they all (all) have been empty files that have had blank names. What's going on?

I had the same issue. The only browser that worked was the opera mobile.
Every filehoster has worked with that browser so far.
Hope I could help!

Thank you, i will try this workaround and hopefully we will hear of a solution.

Try. Going to the browser settings and clear cookies and cache. Then try downloading again.
Never had a problem with these myself.
Never had a prob on mine

Sometimes you have to rename the file - back to original

I thought that the download tool from the standard browser is the problem because normally it isn't aloud by most of this sides to re-connect (I use another browser for such downloads like Firefox or Opera).
But i must wrong when I see that others didn't have here a problem

I know exactly what you are referring to, I had same issues here our devices won't be properly recognized at some sites on stock browser so clearing cashe or using alternative browser gets you around this. Also some sites will not allow access by proxy you would in fact have to use home IP or secured network.....I've downloaded alot straight to my flyer.

If that's true, then its a bummer, because this browser is otherwise pretty good. I hate to have to switch around.

This here, i tried xScope, Dolphin, Stock, and Skyfire, and the only browser to work consistently was Opera.
Also, on a side note, Opera is SO MUCH faster than any other android browser. Page scrolling is super smooth, and loads quick as hell. I was very surprised going to Opera on a whim to try it out.
Maybe its just me, but I don't see this as a big enough issue to drive my choice of browsers. If I have big files or lots of things to download I jump on my PC and drop them in my Dropbox so they are always there for my phones and tabs. Every browser has it quirks, even the desktops. The new browser in honeycomb is faster and has good integration with Chrome desktop. Coming soon will be Chrome for Android. It all depends on what creature features you like and are most comfortable with. I know it's annoying when you need something and it doesn't work but I don't do a lot of megaupload sharing from my tablet and when I have used it I haven't seen a problem with the stock browser.

It depends on your uses. For me, i usually use the tablet when my laptop is either doing something else, or out of reach, so i do everything on it. As such, alot of what i do, requires downloading from file hosting sites. You'd be surprised whats hosted on them
With that being said, downloading an apk on the laptop, then moving to dropbox and retrieving on tablet is a waste of time when it could take all of 30s to be done via the tablet to begin with.
The only thing that makes me hesitant to use a new browser is that i like how the stock one integrates with sense and all that. This is probably just me being petty, though.

Ive never used opera for file hosting sites but I do use firefox. I use to firefox nightly apks and it works like a charm. Firefox (fennic) is the best browser because it has the adblock plus. Also use auto pager if you use rlslog etc. Amazing.

What browser are u using?

I switched to boat browser last week and haven't looked back since. You should definitely check it out but in the meantime, which browser do you like the most right now?
I've used Dolphin forever, but I'll give Boat a look.
I use Firefox beta, i like it the best.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
Dolphin is my standard choice.
from my finally liberated X2 roaming the north
I tried firefox and I could find a history so I went back to boat or dolphin.
Also boat will not let you rename a DL? BOAT will not let you change DL dir?
I've tried FireFox, but it's too hefty, buggy and no Flash support.
I've also used Skyfire which was great on my previous Droid that didn't have flash because it will take flash videos and download them to their server, convert them and allow you to view the videos.
But I've finally settled on Dolphin HD. The tabbed interface is great and it just seems snappier and less bug-ridden than Firefox and it supports Flash.
I'm anxiously awaiting Chrome for the Droid, though. Depending on how that is, it might just replace Dolphin HD as my browser of choice.

As someone with a raging nerd boner for Chrome on my laptop (I've gotten about 10 friends to switch to it), I'd love it on my phone.
Opera Mobile is what I have been using since day1. All others are slow in comparison especially when viewing this site under the style xda 2010 from your mobile, it's silky smooth.
I use Dolphin.
Sent from my Liberated X2!
Ive tried the others and the other mini's, I keep coming back to stock not for features but for speed.
the newest version of boat browser is MUCH improved over the older versions.
It is now very fast. In a sense it reminds me of the xscope browser I used to use on my first android tablet ages ago. Fast and familiar with a good amount of options.
Been using Miren browser myself.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
I was using miren at first but the random fc's is what made me look for something else
I tried boat browser a while back. Sounds like its worth giving another try. Going to have to give it a try one more time.

Edit: just got boat. like it so far.
I still use stock......
Haha so many different opinions. I found Dolphin Mini to be faster than Boat so that's what I'm currently using.

Best Browser For the S3

Done a search but nothing of relevance came up in these forums.
Just got my phone today and so far just using the stock browser which seems ok but undoubtedly there are better browsers out there, i always used X-Scope on my SGSII but im a bit tired of that now and looking for something else,i hear Chrome for ICS is supposed to be very good, so what browser is everyone using then?
Chrome is not that great on s3 yet, it lags and has touch delays..stock browser is undoubtedly the best browser I have tried . It gets the work done. Only thing I don't like is how you manage tabs . Try dolphin browser, should run as stock but with some enchanced features
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Well the built in browser works really nice, but i personally like
firefox and that you can use addons like adblock and so that i value
a lot personally.
Though I don't currently have the S3 yet, I'll probably use Boat Browser. Easy to use and has been the best I have used for my tastes. It'll be the fist I install when I get my S3.
Dunno where you heard that Chrome 'lags', that's definately not the case. Alright, you don't have Flash. I always thought of it as a huge drawback but I haven't missed it a single time and I've been using Chrome for Android since the very beginning.
It has great tab management, staggering performance and a brilliant look. One of the best things about it is the integration with your desktop Chrome (and all other versions of Chrome you might be using.) Open tabs are synced in real time so let's just say you want to open a link from your phone on your desktop. no more mailing it around, now you can just click on it on your desktop. The bookmark sync is great too. And it's Chrome.

Use Chrome. Also install Flashify. In the rare instance you launch a site that needs flash, just click share, flashify, then select an alternative browser. The page you were browsing is then opened for you.

I didn't hear it, I experienced it. Visit www.aftonbladet.se with both stock browser and chrome. While stock handles the website like any other..chrome gets real messy. The touch response like 1-2 seconds after you started to pan. It's just me?

Stock browser works well here.
Before I used Dolphin, but there's a bug or something. When double tapping to zoom in on an area on the page it always zooms in to the left of the page (instead of the area you double tap)
Do more people experience this bug?
Dolphin Mini - best interface, not a ton of features
Dolphin HD - alright interface, just works
Opera Mobile - most like a PC, best comparability with websites that give trouble, has hardware acceleration, super smooth
Stock - smoothest, least features, and has problems downloading certain types of files, or downloading at all from hosting websites

UC Browser Recommendation

Hello,
I just found a very unique and good Browser in my opinion which I wanted to share with you:
Its called UC browser Hd for tablets. The standard UC browser for Android is also good but the tablet version rocks on the Note 2.
I installed it on my Tablet and then transfered the apk file to my note 2, because playstore wont let you install the HD tablet version.
At first I thought: Too different takes too long to get used to. But after using for a short time I love it. And Flash is handled better than at Dolphin, Stock, Chrome, Firefox, in my opinion.
So, if your looking for a browser give it a try.
Greetings Richard

I agree browser is good but unfortunately I had to move to different one because in some cases I could not login to websites. Basically it didn't recognise my username and password which is odd. At the moment I use boat browser which is great as well. I also changed dpi to 260 for better visual experience. Btw. Dolphin browser drains the hell out of my battery.
