[Q] Atrix won't charge/ Stuck at red "M" - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey I just got an Atrix the other day for free (used my mom's upgrade .) I unlocked the bootloader and installed CWM. I flashed kennethpenn's Gingerbread b4 ROM and now it won't turn on unless its plugged into the Motorola USB charger (won't even turn on plugged into my MacBook USB.) Every time I try to put it in RSD mode it says "Battery too low to flash." This is my second Atrix and I'm totally stumped. Why is it not charging?

I had the same problem and other users had it too. You can fix this by following my steps:
Go to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1163009
Download .zip for your carrier (Att or international) and then enter to CWM Recovery:
Plug your mobile to wall charger and hold volume down button. Then press volume down until you see android recovery - press up and it will lunch CWM recovery (I'm assuming You have got CWM installed for unlocked and you have unlocked BL). Then wipe your data and simply apply zip that you have downloaded. This Solved my problem.

i have the exact same problem, and now to makes things worse, I don't have an external sd card, so by the time I switch from wall charger to computer usb to mount, it switches off, and also once somehow I managed to connect to comp and select mount usb storage, it gave an error unable to write ums lunfile (no such file or directory)
so this is my status,
i have a unlocked atrix 4G att with a custom recovery and I have a corrupted rom (installs fine, but phone never boots, stuck on the red logo)
any ideas, where to go from here ? should I try charging my battery with another phone and switch and try again ?
please help

[Q] USB problem!!!!!

hey guys
i bought a Galaxy s couple of weeks ago (GT-I9000M). i rooted the phone using "one touch root".....then install "Vibrant9 Eclair 2.1" rom by "eugene373".....then before i could do the lag fix and Kernel, as soon as i plugged in my USB cable, my phone would shut down and go into a cycle of showing an empty battery icon (the phone is fully charged) then a black screen ...this would happen whenever i plugged in the USB in to the phone (no matter using my PC or wall charger) , it would automatically turn the phone off and do the same ..... after a while since i couldn't find a stock Bell rom ,i installed the T-mobile one using the following guide :
http:/ip208-100-42-21.static.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748074
and btw right now the volume bottoms are other way round....(up turns down the sound and Vice-versa)
i was hoping if someone can help me out with this problem...so i can get my phone to connect again.(and fix the sound control volume)

hey
thanks for taking the time and answering .... but i have done the un-bricking thing as i mentioned .... i think i need a firmware that is not t-mobile cause my phone version is actually GT-I9000M not the SGH-T959 .... a firmware that i can use Odin and put on my phone using the download mode
cheers
Uh oh.. you're in loads of trouble because you're on the international phone and flashed a U.S. ROM.
I remembered when flashing the International leak of 2.2, it would cause a brick going back. Are you able to get into download mode? If you are, look in the I9000 forum for a Odin stock and try that.

Stuck at "failed to boot" OTA update

Soooo ....I tried to install the update from OTA and my phone is now stuck in a failed to boot mode /starting rsd services screen......anyone help me out real quick? This is my first MOTO since the star tac , ive been strictly htc since the mogul....im rooted other than that ive done nothing else to the phone.....
If it is "Starting RSD Services" then your phone is not bricked. Assuming you can't make it boot any other way, you can load up RSD Lite on your pc, connect the phone via usb, and flash the latest SBF which will completely reload your OS. Granted you are going to need the correct drivers to do this.
Now, I'm wondering if you've done anything to this phone prior to applying the OTA update or was the phone completely stock? If it was stock and you did not unlock the bootloader then I'd just return it to Sprint and let them take responsibility for it. Otherwise you can do the repair yourself but only at your own risk...
I've posted the basics below but feel free to click here to go to the actual thread which explains this. I recommend you make sure your phone is charged before doing this.:
RSD Lite and 32 Bit Drivers (Install the 32bit drivers if you are running a 32bit Windows OS)
64 Bit Drivers (use these instead are running a 64 bit version of Windows.)
Latest SBF
1. DL and install RSDLite and Driver package from link above
2. Power down your phone
3. On your phone hold vol up and power till you see RSD at the top of the screen
4. Launch RSDLite from your program menu on your pc/laptop
5. Press the “. . .” button next to the box labeled “Filename”
6. Load up the SBF file you extracted from the MR download
7. Plug your device into your computer RSDLite should recognize your phone right away if you installed the drivers from this link i provided
8. Press the “Start” button
9. Be patient...takes a while...will reboot a couple times so grab a beverage of choice...use the restroom...take out the dogs...whatever...
10. may require activation again...mine did so be sure you have a means in which to do so...web...phone to call sprint for programming...OTA...
11. Enjoy and hit thanks!!!
Don't thank me, thank Yay 4 Juggs, I took this from his thread. If you have further issues you should post them there.
yeahried to flash the newest update, but now all it says is failed to boot 2 at the top of the moto screen...... Idk what now...???
make sure you have insurance
why would i need insurance? this phone is less than a month old, and the thing dumped on me while flashing Sprints OTA system update.....pretty sure it is thier fault.......lol......
The sbf update failed? Pull the battery for a few minutes then put it back and press and hold volume down while holding the power button. Does it say fastboot?
Also, you are within your return period so they will probably take it back unless you unlocked the bootloader. I don't think they'll take it back if it says unlocked at the top when you boot it, if it doesnt say that it should be fine because Sprint is okay with rooting. I wouldn't tell them you attempted the SBF though, just that the OTA update borked your phone.
ok I got it thanks everyone.......rsd failed to flash because my battery was lower than 50% .......i charged it and it flashed the first time with no problems......i dont understand why you have to re register your phone after the rsd flash though.....Motorola Android phones are wierd
I'm glad to hear your phone survived. Yeah you definitely want to make sure your phone is charged whenever you do any sort of modifications to the system/bootloader/recovery partitions. As for the reactivation, its not bad once you learn your MSL number you can do it yourself without needing to call Sprint. I'm thankful your phone didn't brick. lol
My phone also was recovered after doing as outlined by Yayy . Don't go into RSD with a low battery or you WILL pay the consequences.
I tried doing this and my battery died... Now I'm not sure where to go from here. I either charge it from the computer and ONLY the green led lights up and then like 10 minutes later the phone automatically comes on and says failed to boot 2, starting rsd, battery too low to flash. Or I can plug it into my wall and the phone automatically comes on and says the same thing immediately. Which way should I do this?

You may want to look on ebay for a Motorola Photon 4G / Droid 3 Battery Charger for a few bucks/no shipping cost. Order the charger, rush shipping if you feel you need to, open the package, take the battery out of your phone, plug the battery in the wall with the charger, and wait until the light changes from red to blue/green and continue from there.

Bad flash - Dead battery fix?

I attempted to flash ICS onto my Razr Maxx, but the battery ended up dying. The only way to get the phone into a boot menu is to have a wall charger plugged in. I've done this, and selected "BP Tools," but it just stays on the Motorola icon for hours, never charging the phone. I also tried the "flash" option, and got the same result.
I can still enter into "recovery," and have tried throwing several different operating systems on the SD card. Every time I "update from .zip," the installation fails.
What can I do to charge the battery at this point? I don't have a factory cable, and don't understand why the BP Tools trick isn't working.
Try to boot normally while you are plugged in wall charger..!
And then charge it and flash it with RSD LITE with proper fastboot file I mean
check it properly that what region and gsm or cdma file is it, if u dont flash it properly it will show you validation error...
SLICED BY MY RAZR..

As soon as I plug the phone in, it goes to the Motorola logo. When I enter fast boot mode, it says battery low. When I try to charge using BP Tools, it just stays on the Moto logo, never actually charging. It appears that I have no OS.
Since I can enter recovery, is there any zip file I can put on my sd card to load up an OS onto the phone?

I too am having the same problem. I am very inexperienced with the whole programming process, so a detailed step-by-step answer would be helpful. I just wanted some Ice Cream
Guys have you tried reset factory or wipe cache in recovery...?
If its not working man then you need a MOTOROLA FACTORY CABLE..
its very easy to make, I made one for myself and thts how I recovered my razr from this problem...
Best of guys..
sent through DFL AND FEDEX..
How do you make the cable? I've wiped cache and factory reset. That's not going to do anything since there's no OS.

None of the charging hacks are working, and the only reasonable fix seems to be getting an OS on the phone.

I got mine fixed* I took it to Verizon and played dumb. They replaced it free with a new RAZR. They said that it could have happened when the OTA update took place. Worth a shot Moose. Just play dumb :-D
Didn't work for me. I'd just like to know why the hacks aren't working.

I learned that sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. I had a similar issue over the past few days. Ended up pulling the back cover off and just charging straight to the terminals, and it really was very simple.
bought the cable on ebay delivered for ten bucks. took a week to get here from China and then an evening to use Matt's droidrazr 1.7 option 1 to ready the phone to charge and flash. Spent days looking for a file to flash from the card and other alternatives.
Order the cable.:good:

[Major Issue] Telus T959D "Bootloop"

1) I have recently bought a Telus fascinate. I managed to get Darky's Rom 10.2 Ressurection onto the device no problem by simply following the official thread: http://www.darkyrom.com/index.php?threads/odin-darkyrom-10-2-resurrection-gt-i9000.4272/
2) Looked around a thread and I saw someone saying their T959D worked with (ICS 4.0.3 RC2.11). So, being the ICS fan that I am, I went to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398223&highlight=bootloop and got the latest one (which was probably the mistake).
(RESULT)
3) I flashed it through my recovery and it "completed". As it restarted, this happened:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gfzR6PBSEo&feature=youtu.be
- I am unable to go into download mode with any method that I tried. It is quite unusual as I was able to go into it every other time before flashing the ICS ROM. (Notice how the usb connects then quickly disconnects in the video)
4) If the video was too quick, this is what came up.
then
(The android icon dies in the back and then the phone repeats that whole process)
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated :crying:
Same issue I am having with ICS as well... (I have a question about it in the "One Stop Shop" thread...

What methods did you try getting into download mode? Have you tried the one where you take out the battery, then while holding the volume down and then plug in the usb to get into download mode?
For me to get into download mode i use a jig if i already screwed up lol

Have you tried pulling the battery, plug in USB cable, put battery back in(wait until battery charging symbol shows), then press and hold volume - and power...
It should boot into download mode.
"Gotta love XDA-Developers"
I had the same problem with my friends, threw on a Darky rom to get things rolling and then tried to flash helly bean. The phone is in an endless loop now, will a jig solve this? I've tried almost everything to get it into download mode but it's not working.
A jig definitely works.

Yup, the jig fixed things, encased a DIY one in hot glue for a more permanent jig. Running ICS now, we are still having problems getting JellyBean installed though.

[Q] Vodafone Smart 2 (alcatel v860) stuck at boot logo

My apologies if this post is already started elsewhere (please guide me there if you can), but it seem the search is not possible today...
I rooted my brand new Vodafone Smart 2 and in order to free some memory I was moving some files from internal to SD card. Noticing a folder in the root called custpack (and thinking it was the specific folder Vodafone used for its teaking) I wanted to play around with it on my computer, but instead of copying it to SD card, I MOVED it... :0 At the first command the screen turned gray and the phone froze. I can turn it off now only by removing the battery. When it starts it can't go pass the android logo (boot image) and the screen turns gray. I know that Power button and Volume Down yield to Recovery menu, but my ROM is branded Vodafone Albania and they have removed that option. All I get is the option for factory reset (or I think that is what "All you data will be lost, Yes/No" means). Accepting that does restart the phone but still the same logo and gray screen afterwards.
Unfortunately, I can't install from SD due to this branded Vodafone AL ROM I have, and adb device command at the command prompt (DOS) does not recognize the phone (it did recognize before as I have the drivers loaded and Android SDK Tools).
Can someone help me either bringing the Recovery option to install from SD so I can try a complete flash of the original, or if there is any way I can have the adb recognise the device, or if there is any other way. I found a user here (Voda_Smart_2) that seemed to have the same problem and someone had said could help but only through PM. I tried to reply the thread so I could present my case, but as a newly registered I was not allowed to post on developers forums.
PLEASE HELP ME - For someone who uses a low-end phone like Vodafone Smart II option to buy a new one after ruining a new one is not possible....

Thank you for interest and concern for my situation! I know very well roeddie custom rom for VS2. I have actually installed version 0.9.1 as well as version 0.9.9 to some friends. I have the undestanding that the AIO he uses requires that the phone be recognized by the PC (adb devices does not list anything in my case). However, I'll give it a try and let this forum know if roeddie AIO flasher (OTA update 3) does install without the need for PC to recognize the android phone.
Thanks,

dead battery is the answer
well guys if anyone of you still use this device; a possible fault that causes infinite boot logo screen is dead battery. Actually the controller board of the battery gets shorted causing a stable 1.7v output instead of 3.8~4.2v and refuses to charge even pushing power to it from an external power supply. Thats why the phone stucks on logo; it is the same reaction to connecting the phone to the charger without a battery... what you have to do is to find a used or a new battery (if it's still worth to do so...)

Thanks for the suggestion! It is not a problem of battery, as I have tried with two other batteries from friends' V860. Plus, if it is a board circuit then it does not matter if the we change the battery, unless with 'board' you mean the way batteries are connected inside the battery pack.
Thanks once again! Your answer is much appreciated! Keep them coming if you think about something else. I still have this phone, just for because I like to know what was the problem or how to overcomes such situations in the future.
