Hey Guys, just after the release of my old ROM, this is a new ROM which is based on Froyo(2.2). I used the Cyanogenmod rom as base and i havent changed a lots except for some minor changes and few additions. The followings features are included:
Features
======
Stock Android UI
Busy-box
Rooted
SuperUser
NANO Editor
As Stable as CM
New Boot Animation
Froyo (2.2.1)
myTouch Music
New Android Market (Check Screenshots)
New Gingerbread Stock Keyboard (Check Screenshot)
Both Launcher Pro And Stock Launcher Included
Some Other Stuff
Removed Stuff
==========
Torchlight From CM
FileManager From cm (Get something from market if you need, that filemanager really bugged me so decided to remove, try ES File Manager, it rocks)
CM Boot Animation
Some other crapware
As this mod is derived from CM, most of the things (I think all) work properly, including wifi, bluetooth and everything else. If anyone finds any bugs or something wrong with the rom, please post it below.
How to install
=========
First root your phone using this method or this method.
Then put the zip file in your sd card and go to clockwork recovery. Then just install the zip file as you would do with every other rom.
If you dont get what i am saying, check this.
This rom asks you which launcher to use in the first boot, check the "Make Default" button and select the launcher of your choice, either launcherpro or default stock froyo launcher. I recomment launcherpro as it is really smooth and has no lags at all (i am using the same). And BTW, if you plan on using stock launcher and no longer want launcherpro on ur system, simply go to manage apps in settings and remove launcherpro as usual (yes, you can remove it). I havent dared to remove the awesome cyanogenmod settings menu because of its cool features and lots of additional functionalities. And the cyanogenmod wallpapers are intact as well.
How to make it look like the one in screenshot
==============================
First choose launcherpro at first boot and make it default.
then go to launcherpro settings (press menu on launcher and choose preferences) and appearance and change the dock's look to froyo wide
Then go back to launcher and long press the screen, and choose wallpaper, and go to cyanogenmod wallpapers and choose the wallpaper as shown in the screenshot.
Then arrange the icons in the same way and you are ready to go.
Enjoy Gingerbread Keyboard And The New Android Market With Lots Of Improvements.
Please let me know if something does not work. THanks
Update 12/20/2010: New Update Coming Very Soon! With WiFi And Tethering Working + More Features And More Stuff
[I am not an android developer, just a simple guy [and a bit of java programmer] ]
I dont think Tmobile is going to give us Froyo within this Dec 15th as rumored by a lots of sites. But for now, lets stay happy with this rom and lets hope they will send the updates soon.
Download ROM
P.S. I can live without negative feedback. (<--Copied it from someone )
can i use headset control on this rom????????????????
OMG, i love this.
but the removal of some apps doesn't appeal to me.
Like file manager, Rom Manager, And the ability to wifi tether is gone.
I was able to wifi tether in the latest versions of CM, but it totally rids it of it in this rom.
Either than that, awesome rom.
Love the boot animation, keyboard, launcher. Keep up the good work. Hope to see more ROMs from you soon!

Wifi works - try reflashing it. Did you do a factory reset before flashing this rom? At minimum, clear your cache.
Using the headphones that came with this phone only works on the stock rom since it was a proprietary thing T Mobile did - why do people keep nagging about this issue?
Wifi tether isn't built into a rom. It a function but must be accesed by an .apk file. Download the latest wifi tether apk (2.0.5 rc1) and install it. BAM! wifi tethering in the palm of your hand.
"reflashing" it's you mean up again?? i wipe my device already. clear all data before up this rom but it's still not work

WiFi worked properly in the few mytouch slide's i tested the rom, and wifi tethering isnt inbuilt, but you can always download it and install it. And about the headphones, tmobile made the headphones to not work with anything other than the stock rom, sorry for that.

There's a good Tethering apk in this forum somewhere. You might need to go back a few pages, but you'll find it. :]
ALSO, yo OP, could you please push the Torchlight back onto the ROM in a future release? Torch is always fantastic...
Hi people,
I'm a new android user (owns X10 Mini Pro) coming from iPhone.
I love the phone so far. It's not rooted, I have installed Helix launcher, some apps I use like FB, Twitter, YM, Foursquare, Dolphin Browser, etc to name a few. I have installed an updated Google Maps 5.0 as well and the stock Gallery of Android 2.1 (since the Album app is boring in Mini Pro) . So far everything's good.
Can anyone recommend anything I can do to pimp up my phone? Any "useful" apps?
It's ok to root the phone as long as the reason has some worth apps to install and as long as it will NOT 'slow down' my phone.
I was an iPhone user for more than 2 years and I want to get convinced if Android is really better than iPhone, so bring in all recommendations (and instructions)
Thanks!

Install Zeam launcher (very fast and easy to use) and Fancy Widget, which gives you weather, time and battery status on one widget.
Install a nice offline navigation app that works in the Philippines like NavDroyd. It works offline and you don't need internet connection in navigation.
Install WiFi Tethering SW like Barnacle. It comes handy when you're not in a WiFi hotspot and you need internet connection for your laptop. Assuming you 'forgot' to bring your Globe broadband dongle.
Install Windows95 (or is it 98?). Try searching the x10 forums about that. Not useful but cool.
If you want a bit of extra speed.. the ultimate Pimp is enabling JIT.. if you haven't already, thats a good place to start... it will make apps and games like angry birds a bit quicker. (you need to Root you phone first, but that's easy)
(download Quadrant benchmark from the Market to see what your current speed score is then try again after JIT, you will not be dissapointed)

I don't think so. I'm only using wireless tethering. It would be useful though since barnacle consumes battery a lot.

I feel stupid! I thought the name of the app to enable JIT is Ultimate Pimp. Hahaha. kept looking for it in the Market.
I realized you mean like 'a great tweak for speed' is enabling JIT. Didn't know enabling JIT needs some commands.
Will definitely try this one when i get home

yeah i thought so. and im thinking wired tether is faster than wireless.
i saw a wired tethering app called EasyTether which doesnt require root, but I think its a trial version which cannot open secured sites, unless you pay.
But I guess bernacle is good. i can always plug the phone via USB while tethering just to keep battery power right?
thanks!

Dunno about u all, but if JIT is installed to my phone, it always creating a problem for my Wifi connection. Maybe for safe step, reflash it first then install Root + JIT, then anything else follows..
I have a droid eris that is collecting dust and thought it would be a cool toy for my 2 year old. I know they have apps for toddlers and fun games that have a toddler lock built in.
My question is has someone developed or is someone willing to develop a rom that is just for kids. It would only need Wifi.
Just a thought. I wanted to see before I start attempting to develop one myself, which I really do not have time to do.
Thanksa
Try tazz's I-phoney ROM, it's like an I phone so it's perfect for a toddler! Lol!
Seriously, tho, any cm7 ROM would be good. For my young'uns, I disable the screen lock set the launcher to have only one home screen with all the games as shortcuts.

Thanks everyone. I found a kid mode app that works pretty good as an interface. I have the phone in airplane mode so it disables everything and I have wifi on. He is enjoying it right now. I will continue to improve on it and maybe eventually create my own interface.

Hi,
would you like to share which app you found usable?
Apart from airplane mode, you could also disable the dialer, e.g. freeze it with Titanium Backup or the like.
(I know your post is quite a few years old, but possibly you still remember the app).
LT
Found this & thought to share...and I've installed & some dates are both english & chinese, but it works great. Nice lil tease of MIUI lol...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392560
I've definitely been having fun with these, but I do wish I could remove the chinese characters from some of them. It'd also be interesting to see how these are made so we could customize them.
There are some nice ideas on there, but the lack of customization sent me back to WidgetLocker almost instantly.
Yea being able to remove the chinese would be nice & yea lack of customization is no fun but it has all the basics on screen that I need plus its nice to have lots of choices
This will be incorporated in the next Molten release.

Ive been using this for a bit now and I have noticed I am having a tough time finding other themes that are compatible with our resolution. Anyone find a good source of themes to fit our resolution. Not concered if they are translated either.
I like the animations in the lockscreens. The smoothness is ok but not great. And of course I dont want the chinese in the themes. I dont know how long this has been out but if its pretty new, its a good start. It could be just as good if not better than widgetlocker with more development. But until then, its not on the same level yet as widgetlocker in my opinion. I'll keep it on my device and watch for updates though.

I like widgetlocker but for some reason the only phone I ever found it to be nice a smooth working is my og droid, my eris and this one it seems choppy to me.
I think this is so much smoother running the widgetlocker and lus this isnt ever going to be like widgetlocker. Its meant to be stock type replacement screens

WidgetLocker doesnt seem that choppy to me. Sometimes I see SOME choppiness but not enough to push me away from it. Plus, it has the best ICS lock I've seen on a lock screen app.
Another issue Im having with Milocker is that when I try to see the online themes, it tells me it cant connect to the network so I cant really get the full experience with this app yet. I dont know why it says that though. My network is fine.

So a couple threads you might want to take a look at if you're wanting to stick with MiLocker. The first would be the MIUI Lockscreen theme thread, found here. There are a ton of different lockscreens out there, very nice. The second would be a perl conversion tool put together by shooger, found here. Please read the threads and readme before you do anything, and remember to THANK people!

And these themes can be used with this app? Or just the MIUI ROM?
EDIT: Looking at this more, I'm assuming they are just for the MIUI ROM. Which doesnt help us because we dont have that.
They can be used with the Miui Lockscreen app, we just need to convert them to qHD. This can be done with shooger's app.
Loving this. But makes me homesick for the full rom. All my fav's are there from my OG days, tho.

Okay, I got my S3 Yesterday. I have been stuck in iPhone world since 2009, so I am new to android. I have been watching videos and reading forums for the past few weeks. I don't want to root my phone. I just want to know if I can get different launchers and themes without having to root, and where is the best place to get them? Also, what is the easiest way to transfer my photos and music over from my iPhone to the s3?
GO Themes is my current theme handler that I am putting to use. I don't know if you could change the boot image without rooting it. And to transfer your photos and files over simply 1. stick them on a folder in your computer 2. transfer those files to a folder in your sdcard/phone via usb cable
You don't need root for launchers. You will only be able to theme your icons and some keyboards offer themes if you do not root.

That's fine, I don't really need themes, cause I can use different widgets to make the layout look better. Where do I get different launchers to try out and install. The play store? Also, can you have a live wallpaper on the lock screen as well?

I really don't have any complaints. I like the full customization and the awesome animations and widgets. The only one complaint I do have is email. The email program on the s3 is very mesy and hard to navigate compared to the email system on the iPhones. Is there another all in one email application to run where I can manage all my email accounts in one nicely organized place?
I would experiment with stuff before you root. I wish I didn't root so soon because now my Google wallet is messed up and I can't even turn on my nfc. While others have not had this issue, it's still annoying. In would hold off for a little bit

It's good to have you onboard Android, sir!
You can change a lot without rooting your device, that's ONE area where Android shines compared to iOS.
1) THEMES AND LAUNCHERS:
-GO Launcher EX is fairly good for that. You can download many different themes and such from the android market.
-NOVA Launcher. I haven't used this yet, as I only have an LG Ally, (Android 2.2 isn't supported), but many have said this is better than GO Launcher.
-APEX Launcher. I'm in the same boat with this as with NOVA
-You can change messaging apps and such for different themes as well Handcent SMS
2) TRANSFERRING MEDIA: The other huge area where Android is amazing! You basically just plug it into your USB port on your computer, Drop down your notifications bar, and select something along the lines of "Transfer Files Via USB." It will then act as if it were just a usb thumbdrive, where you can copy and paste music to the music folder and pictures to your pictures folder, etc.
I hope this has helped at least a little!
