Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167373 And scroll down to the CWM section. It is best to install this via moto-fastboot. I dont all this last nigh started with the full 1.8.3 sbf and worked my way all the way through and everything installed correctly. You prob. cant instal the new one cause you have to delete a file with root explorer before installing the new one.

The tenfar cwm that I installed was a .img that I flashed using fastboot. If you want an easier solution, just install rom manager from the market and flash its version of cwm and install the rom that way. ATRIX is now officially supported. One thing to note with this method: the cwm does not allow installing a zip from an external sd card, so be sure to move the zip to the internal before installing.

Soft bricked
I am not sure exactly where I went wrong, but
1. I rooted and unlocked without any problems.
2. Downloaded CMW recovery.
3. Booted into recovery
4. Wiped
5. installed Gingerbread 2.3.4 ROM from sd card
6. After complete, wiped again
7. Rebooted
Now all I see is the Moto logo with "unlocked" in the top left corner
I cannot install I new ROM, since recovery won't read sd-ext and I can't mount usb. Please help!!

wipe dalvik and cache and then do a factory reset also make sure you are on this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=641508&d=1309404399
as your recovery or else you will be stuck at the moto logo

I know what I did wrong, and I know the jeering may commence, and that is fine, just please also offer advice on how to fix.
I did not use the Tenfurs Recovery. Out of habit of using Clockworld Rom Manager- Eris, Droid, Captivate, that's what I did before reading up enough (overly excited, I know!). Now I'm stuck and cannot get past the boot logo. I keep looking around for a way to push Tenfurs recovery (or anything) using adb and I can't get things to work since I cannot boot. Any suggestions on steps to take?

I feel silly, but all is well in Moto land now. Of course I got myself into all of that trouble because I was impatient. I did the following to fix everything. I know these details are elsewhere...
Fastboot from Windows:
fastboot.exe -w
fastboot.exe flash recovery recovery.img (tenfar's)
fastboot.exe reboot
flashed Gingerbread and rebooted. I'm good to go!
fastboot.exe

[Q] CWM help.

Forgive my noobishness, but alot if this is still new to me.
My atrix is rooted and unlocked. In preparation for cm7 I decided to flash CWM and make a backup of my current stock rom.
I downloaded the rommanager app from the market and installed CWM successfully. I also used it to make a backup of the rom.
However, when I boot into recovery I get the android guy and exclamation mark. I cant do anything at this point and have to pull the battery and reboot.
What is wrong here?
try installing it again, and are you sure your phone is unlocked? does it says unlocked at the top left corner?
Yes, on reboot it say "unlocked". I installed it again from rom manager, and it told me I successfully flashed. I didnt believe at first since it only took a about 2 secs to complete, but i was able to boot into recovery. Thank for the help.. Im surprised that even worked to be honest.
Another question, lets supposed I wanted to completely remove CWM and install romracers recovery instead. How would I go about removing CWM?

I've had the same problem before. Basically, every time I restored a backup, CWM would crash. It would give me the same thing yours gave you: the Android with the Exclamation point. This could be fixed by reflashing CWM with ROM manager. If you want to install RomRacer's CWM, download the zip for it off of whatever source and out it on your internal storage. Then, from ROM manager, click on "Install ROM from SD card" or something. Choose RomRacer's zip and don't choose any of the wipe options. It should boot into recovery and flash RomRacer's recovery over the ROM manager one.
After installing custom ROMs, I no longer had this problem with the Android and the exclamation point.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Ok this is beginning to get a bit annoying. Basically ANY time I boot into recovery I get the android and exclamation point. If I go into rom manager and flash CWM again, I can reboot into recovery just fine. However, the next time I chose to go into recovery, I get the same problem android and exclamation point.
I decided to install romracers CWM. I used the fastboot method. I erased the recovery partition and flashed the image sucessfully. It rebooted and went into recovery. SAME freaking problem . Android and exclamtion point. I rebooted the phone and entered rom manager again. I attemted to flash CWM from the "FLASH from SD card" option. The phone boots into recovery. Guess what?? Same damned thing. Android and exclamation point.
one last effot, I reflash CWM recovery, then chose 'install from sd card" option and chose rom racers CWM. It boots into recovery, and claims it flashed RR's CWM. I boot into the phones OS and go back to rom manager. I notice that rom managers reports my version of CWM being the same as it ever was (The rom mgr recovery 4.1. something). I choose boot into recovery... and I know you know whats coming now. ANDROID AND!!!!!
Recovery is pointless if I have to relash CWM from rom manager everytime before I use it. If the sh*t ever hits the proverbial fan and I cant boot into the OS I am screwed.
Has anyone ever had or heard of this problem. i would like to have a recovery, that works every single time I need it.
Fastboot flash romracers recovery. That should solve your problem. And leave it alone.

Thanks for the quick reply. However,I did that already.
Code:
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
When I boot into recovery, I get the Android and exclamation point. Just to make sure, I did the same thing twice. No luck.
:/
Something is borked. Redownload the recovery and try again.

well I redownloaded Romracers CWM. This time a different file. The red version.
I uninstalled Rommgr app just because. I reboot into fastboot
erase recovery partition.
Flash the recovery image to the recovery partition
reboot and immediately boot back into recovery (without going into the phones OS).
I am greeted with the UI of RR's CWM.
I reboot my phone normally and go back into the phones OS. to test to make sure everything is good...
I reboot into recovery.... and I get android and exclamation point.
I am thoroughly confused and quite frustrated at this point.
Its like once I go into the OS of the phone I cannot sucessfully boot back into recovery.
WTF?!
For clarity's sake I'm on OTA 2.3.4 and am rooted and unlocked
Throw tour phone at the wall and slap it around to let it know who is boss. Other than that I dont know bro. Weird issue. does fastboot -w help any. You have to add erase to that command I forgot.

[Q] Error erasing recovery for ROMRacer's CVM

Hi,
I am getting an error using moto-fastboot trying to flash ROMRacer's CVM Recovery.
I have flashed the unlocked bootloader & root sbf from here using RSDLite: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138204
I have also used the one-click root here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255548
When I boot into fastboot (Pwr + Vol Down), I can complete the first step in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
However when I try:
Code:
moto-fastboot erase recovery

Any help would be appreciated.
just get the rom manager app and flash the zip that way it works perfect hope this helps! flash rom manager recovery at the top then flash romracers recovery
Do you mean these instructions?
Install Instructions to Use RomRacer's CWM w/ ROM Manager APP:
1) Download the ".zip" file of your color choice (make sure you choose the right version AT&T or international), and place the .zip file on the sd-card (internal storage).
2) Download ROM Manager from the Market (paid or free, it doesn't matter) and install app.
https://market.android.com/details?i...mmanager&hl=en
3) Open ROM Manager and select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery," making sure to select the right device (i.e. Atrix 4G). This will flash the current version of CWM to your device, which will also work (see details/limitations discussed below).
4) Now, choose "Install ROM from SD Card", and choose the .zip file that you saved on your internal storage. You should not need to delete any of the cache options. ROM Manager will reboot the device into CWM and flash the .zip automatically, and then reboot again.
5) You should now have RomRacer's custom CWM installed over the ROM Manager version. You can now select Reboot into Recovery from ROM Manager, and it should boot into CWM Recovery.

Flashing a rom

I've searched all over the forum, but I just wanted to make sure before doing this. I have rooted my Samsung S2 with Odin. I now downloaded a custom rom, specifically HyperDroid-Androidmeda.
It's in a zip file, and it was to my understanding that I flash it the same way in Odin by clicking PDA. However, it's a zip file, and not tar, so I can't bring it in.. Do I just rename zip to .tar and flash it how I rooted it? Thanks guys!

Also read the Hyperdroid thread, it has a how-to flash it and more info on the rom.

Installation Guide: (via CWM Recovery)
1. Install Base (*****install any updates posted HERE for Delta Updates)
It doesn't say how though.. it just says install it. I came from the HTC Hero, so I assume you throw the zip on your sd card, but mine doesn't have an SD card, so I am not sure how to open the internal storage of the phone and install from there in clockworkmod
edit: enabled usb debugging, the mounted data and usb storage. all good, thanks for the help anyway
To flash
1) Flash a kernel with CWM recovery (Cf-root is most popular as a basic rooting/CWM kernel) (Recovery is built into the kernel in samsung phones)
2) Copy the zip file into your internal SD card
3) reboot into recovery (Home > vol up > power when phone turned off)
4) chose flash zip from sd card
5) chose internal sd card
6) select zip
7) flash
8) wipe data/cache/dalvik cache when moving from custom rom/custom rom

That zip should be fine, and the bootloop shouldn't happen, after flashing the zip and wiping cache/data/dalvik it should take upto 10mins to boot the first time as it has to rebuild the cache, it will look like its bootlooped but its just slow!

I know that is why it is weird.. whenever i try to wipe data using 5.0.2.7 it suddenly restart and cant flash anything even my nand backup my phone becomes an endless bootloop.. and since i can't flash older or other roms using 5.5.0.4 that is why i did downgrade to 5.0.2.7
But in 5.5.0.4 i can wipe and flash the superwipe script then flash back to his rom which is the BulletProof v2.5.0
Will 5.5.0.4 works on the official t-mobile ruu rom with root already?
P.S. i know about the PH85IMG.zip to go back to stock

Love your work bro but your drama is rediculous. Your threads appear and dissapear and then reappear and then you say your gone and then you say your back, now your gone again. Bye.
I have never seen any other developer do any of those things btw. If they get upset at whatever, they stay off the forums a bit, cool down, and come back. Or they don't come back. Thats fine. But they dont delete their threads then recreate them then ask them to be deleted again. Stop confusing the people that look to these forums for help on their devices. If you are upset at XDA fine, but don't take it out on your supporters or the people that depend on you.
lol I find it funny how they are named "easy method" , "hard method"
They're all easy!
There is really nothing you can really do wrong if you read the 4 line instructions lol

Instead of saving it to my SD card and then using a file explorer to move the files like I usually do, I tried to use droid explorer and do it from my PC. Now my phone won't get past the motorola logo when I start the phone. I'm not really sure what to do, can someone help me?

I doubt that adding some ringtones to your /system/media folder from your PC would result in a non-boot condition. Sounds like you may have messed up some system files when you were doing what you were doing. Are you sure you did not inadvertently move/delete/alter any other files?
Do you have an unlocked bootloader?
I figured that was what I did... I dont have an unlocked bootloader. Should I?

I have a similar problem and I know I am not bricked but can't currently get out of my jam. This is the process I used so far:
I unlocked bootloaders and rooted with an automatic script program
I installed superuser and CWM from the market
I placed the cm-7.2.0-olympus and gapps .zip files in my root of internal sd
I wiped with moto-fastboot followed by wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, and Dalvik
Then I installed the CM7.2 and Gapps zip files from the sd - and now I'm stuck at the M boot screen with Unlocked at the top.
I can boot into recovery and at the top of the recovery screen it reads Atrix 4G Recovery v4.0.0.2 goapk.com so I am thinking that the script I used initially installed a different recovery program and I am not actually using CWM. Also when I get into fastboot mode it says my battery is too low to flash and I don't have an indication that the battery is accepting a charge when it is plugged in...
I can get into recovery but even if I wipe and reinstall the zip I can't get past the boot loop - any suggestions?

I think that tenfar recovery that you flashed through automatic script. You can just get rom racer recovery flash it through fast boot or Just download this recovery and flash it like any ROM and reboot.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659890

Try to flash your phone with your stock firmware using rsd lite
here a list of firmwares ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1125944
WARNING! : flash it with YOUR stock sbf !!!
OR
Flash the latest sbf for your phone. I've done several with no problems. Yes, you do lose the unlocked bootloader though.
This will return you to stock. I used the same files.
You can avoid bricking your device by not flashing any over-the-air updates to Android 2.3.4. Instead, try flashing the 2.3.4 zip over here. Or, flash the pure stock images from here.
Worked!

Not sure why the other recovery wasn't working but your solution worked swell! Thank you for the assistance. I think it is communities like this online that make Android superior to other mobile OS platforms. It is a highly customizable experience but without these forums I'd be lost.
Many thanks,
