Hiya guys.
Sorry for urgency, but for reasons I had to try and go back to stock. I tracked down a kernel and firmware and tried flashing them both. The firmware I did first in odin and it worked, but caused a boot loop, so went back into download mode and attempted to flash the kernel but that failed. Now the phone wont boot at all (Stuck at screen with phone on left, computer on right and exclamation mark in the middle...never seen this one before).
I have done my searching in the forum but have found no solid instructions as to what files to download. This was an UNBRANDED GS2 purchased in the UK if it helps. i.e. not locked to any carrier, purchased out of contract.
I'm at witts end with this, have not got a clue what to do from now. Sorry about this guys, any help would me greatly appreciated.

Sorry for being dumb but I have looked at that thread and yet it still does not make sense to me, sorry.
I will attempt to download the "I9100XWKE2_I9100XXKDJ_I9100XEUKD1" firmware because I think this is the one that most makes sense for my model, but I dont think it will work in my scenario. So just flash this via odin in the PDA section and all should be well? Did I not bugger anything up with the failed Kernel?
Do a search mate, you'll find your answer!
also should be in the Q & A section.

Here, I'll help.
Try 'calling' this number:
*2767*3855#
It'll perform a full reset- firmware included.
ok.. here,
First, I believe you did post at the wrong section?
Second, the reason you see a Exclaimation Mark is because the phone believes that you are not using the original ROM and believe that i has been Flash before.
Lastly, You would need to get a Samsung JIG.
i have already give you the Answer.. on how to use the JIG please google.

If you purchased the device at Carphone Warehouse look for firmware labelled as CWP. If anywhere else then look for XEU labelled firmware. Flash it with Odin as per the instructions in the link above. When you are done boot to recovery and do a factory reset.
The picture depics your phone connected to a pc! Do not use a jig, thats when it is bricked, your phone is not bricked. Your phone is asking you to be put it into download mode and flashed (via Odin), a rom .Unplug usb, take battery out and put it back in. Press home, down volume at the same time as switching phone on, that should get you into download mode. You can now flash. Take battery out now and read on.
Go to Samfirmware, login, toolbox, firmware, android and galaxy s2. Download xxkf2 rom. Find xwkdd.tar insecure kernel on web and dowload it.Go into download mode on phone,as you did before. Flash xxkf2 via Odin. You will now have Gingerbread 2.3.3 unrooted.Flash xwdd as pda in Odin. You will now have a kernel that can be rooted via 1click root on your pc via usb.
On another post, I've posted this to SG2 questions and answers not the to the developer forums, which I believe I can't do until I've posted 10 posts to other forums.

If that does not work which inkyadrian has stated then go off to ebay and buy a £4 usb jig for i9100 which also resets the binary counter for non stock rom's
This tool is invaluable so i would suggest buying one anyway.

hey guys!
So I have had my phone for about 3 month, and today I had decided that I should see if they're any firmware updates since I had not checked in a while. So I did a search in my settings and it said I need to update so I did so. So it downloaded and it seemed to install but when it went to reboot, it just stayed on the boot screen.
I went into recover mode and set it back to factory settings, but still had no luck. Any ideas what to do as plan b?
Give it a few minutes (5-10 Mins) for the first time after updating... It may seem locked up but usually its not the case... After the first boot.. It will boot normally again....
If truly not working suggest downloading latest firmware package for your model and try flashing via odin
hope that helps^^

Help out...Samsung galaxy can't boot
Hello Guys,
I am not sure whether I am putting right question in the right place or not? I hope you guys don't mind and apologize me as my mind not working due to my foolish act trying to fly even without wings.....
Here is the story
I got my galaxy s2 I9100 a week ago. I tried to go for root. for this I did it using Odin v1.85. My firmware KH5 as its not available here I tried a related one say KH4. I followed all instructions carefully. Successfully brought in download mode. selected the download mode. connected with odin and browse the PDA .tar file. my mobile was recognized by yellow indicating and I starting. It showed the process running and also showed yellow bar turning in green saying "Pass". But soon mobile stucked at boot page and a yellow triangle appeared. Now I realized I made something wrong in eager of rooting. I tried other .tar files like KH1, KH3 and even KF- etc. But same problem. I tried to solve it by bringing recovery mode but It can't go to recover mode even. Now I can only go to download mode can try flashing via odin but can't get my mobile ahead of boot logo. Please helppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
@ habeebrasheed,
Flash stock firmware from Intratech thread via Odin with phone in download mode.
Then you will have a working phone and can start fresh.

I was trying to update my phone from gingerbread 2.3.3 to ice cream sandwich. but for some reason it did not go well, so i am all stuck. I tried so many things people suggested in here. Last thing i tried is to flash it with gingerbread firmware as explained in adroiddevicesdotcom. sorry its not letting me paste the full link of any third party website.
now i can see startup screen where it reaches up to big "S" sign with samsung galaxy 2 written at the bottom but its just looping at same screen.
Could anybody please suggest me what else i can try to install its original OS again.
Thanks,
If you need any other info please let me know
Use odin

I Downloaded and installed the ICS update last night and have been living in hell since. It doesn't have the soft buttons it is supposed to, so navigating through everything is an absolute nightmare! I want to go back to my standard rooted phone. But I have followed MANY, MANY guides, and it will not work. I have downloaded 10 different ROMS and FIRMWARES today and Flashed OVER AND OVER. I am completely stuck and NEED help please.
I have used Recovery to try and install new Roms, Used Odin as well, and I get problems EVERY time. It will reboot, load, and as soon as the "Touch the Android to Begin" logo comes up, It starts having process failures popping up over and over, preventing me from being able to do anything. Forcing me to reflash to ICS again.
Can someone please explain the process to take it back to stock so I can re-root it?
Did you wipe everything when you installed the roms? Data, cache, Dalvik?
Find stock roms here for odin:

Just make sure to download and install the correct rom depending on which SGSII you have.

first install stock rom from this link

then download this rom (i think this is best ICS Rom) and install it with CMW(you should copy the rom inside your internal SD) then full wipe your phone and install rom .

Phistachio!!! Thank You. And to reply, I most certainly DID search, MANY, MANY topics. I thought my phone was bricked but came across SOOOO many threads saying if your phone would load into a ROM it is most certainly NOT BRICKED, leading a n00b such as myself to believe I needed to search for a different issue. Always helps to know what you are looking FOR when searching. This looks awesome. I will try it right away and get back to you with an update as to whether this fixes it.

Phistachio - I followed your link, but when you get to the following step:
4) Download the necessary files : the Kernel, the Recovery Package and the Bootloader (it's the old one, which you can easily use a USB JIG to reset the counter and remove the yellow triangle when having a custom kernel or OS),
The link provided for the Recover Package is a Hotfile.com link, and the Archive that it downloads is PASSWORD PROTECTED, and there is no mention of a password anywhere on the page you provided, nor on the hotfile.com page.
Any Ideas?

Zylor, Thanks for the overt Negativity in your post. I was making sure we were clear, not complaining. I wasn't aware that telling someone that they have provided a great resource was "complaining". And when the OP AND the page he sends you to VERY CLEARLY say ONLY USE THE CORRECT VERSION, far be it for me to magically know that I can grab any random version from CHINA or wherever and have it work on my US ATT GS2. Sorry for trying to follow instructions and avoid a potential brick. But thanks for being a hateful Troll.

You have the AT&T device.
Your correct forum is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1301
Not sure from the details supplied, but have youtried AT&T specific Roms?
Over at this site http://galaxys2root.com/category/att-galaxy-s2-roms/ (Thanks to Max) they have quite a few to try. And make sure you do a complete wipe before you flash one of them ie, factory reset, clear cache then advanced delvik cache and battery stats and then install from zip.
Hope this helps.
I followed all the instructions, and my phone rebooted into the ROM. But it is not stock. My Back and Search buttons still do not work, and the Recovery is 3e, so I cant use the Recovery function because my model (US AT&T) doesn't have the OK button. Since I cant get it to take a screenshot, i'll list the info below:
Android Version: 2.3.5
Baseband Version: I9100XXKI3
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XXKI3-CL577579 [email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XXKI3
I just want to get it back to AT&T Stock, or a WORKING 2.3.6. But as it stands, It doesnt work properly, because my Back Button does not work, nor my Search button.
All Guidance is appreciated. I want to get back to the Stock Bootloader, not the ICS Bootloader
P.S. - I DID SEARCH FOR THIS INFO. When I did, I came up with threads like:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317372
- Turns out it only works on the CHINESE SGS2.

Bob!! Thats exactly what I want to do. But I cant, because the Recovery installed on my phone wont let me do anything because I dont have the OK button on my phone. I tried the power button and everything else, I cannot make selections in Recovery 3e, so the only way to get out of it is to pull the battery.
Xfile if your sticker says at&t sgh-i777 theres a complete forum dedicated to that model here in xda. Better pop in there and find more help.
They also have model specific roms over there and surely they should work. Wannit to post the link but not sure how to from the xda app yet.

No Sweat. I'm just trying to follow instructions and get this fixed ASAP. I did flash the bootloader mentioned, with no errors in Odin, but it still loads with the new galaxy S logo animation instead of the old GT-I9100 Logo with the Yellow Exclamation point. AND, I still have no use of the Back and Search buttons, functionality that is removed in the new ICS. What am I doing wrong? I cannot seem to get my phone back to Stock Android.
Hiya guys
Ok I seem to have some issues with the new S3 I have, I originally posted here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749178&goto=newpost
But I have now found that after installing Samsung KIES the phone is not detected when it is plugged in, USB debuggin mode ticked or unticked makes no difference
I asked in the previous thread how to see if it had been rooted, as the phone is unlocked (originally T-Mobile UK) and my Tesco sim works, but then I tried installing the TRIANGLE AWAY app, and it says
"SUPERUSER IS NEEDED but could not acquire, Are you rooted??"
But when I boot into download mode, it says ODIN at the top, counts is 1 and then there is CUSTOM
So I dont know what the hell the previous person has done lol so i thought it might be easier to put it back to stock, and start all over again!
Please could someone point me in the right direction for doing all this, Im new to Android, iPhone user ever since day one, and I LOVE this phone, but I need to know where I am at with it, and it would be better to start from scratch im sure, so if someone could spare a few mins, it would be VERY Appreciated
Thanks guys
To flash back to stock go here:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9300&r=-1#modelsa
Select the relevant firmware and flash via Odin. (If you've never used Odin a quick search on here will put you in the right direction).
If your wanting to reset your counter your going to need to root and use triangle away. Best to do this before flashing stock firmware

This is the problem lol, I cant use it, the phones defo been flashed with something, due to the download screen on reboot saying ODIN and the count as 1,but Triangle wont run as it doesnt now look like its rooted, well not entirely lol
See what I mean?
Dunno where I am at!
Maybe if I tried rooting it properly, then using the guide to unroot it and put it back to standard, then start again?
Or if I root it properly, do you think that might sort it out?
Why the hell did you create a second topic?
Your seller obviously rooted it, unlocked it and half-heartedly flashed stock back.
So you're gonna have to root it again, following the descriptions in the 'General' section of the forum. (I recommend CF-Root since it's the most painless and straightforward solution)
Then you use the TriangleAway app.
Afterwards you flash back to Stock.

you did not list your carrier or device in your post, but there is a whole list of options here. I have myself scanned through list and yes am aware many of links are dead, yet this was the 2nd one I checked.
