So I'm looking at moving from the Nexus S to the Evo 3D. Tired of the crappy speaker, no notification light, weaker signal and I'm just not seeing what ICS is really going to bring to the Nexus S that will be all that great. Plus, I got to play with a Sensation recently and really love the improvements to Sense.
However, back with my Hero, there were apps that, even after root, could be problematic to remove. There are lots of apps that ship with HTC devices I could do without. (Nascar, Voicemail (use Google Voice), Peep, Footprints, etc...)
Looking around at the stickies and everything, I'm not seeing anything like the kind of list that was maintained for the Hero.
Is anyone rooting and gutting, or is everyone just running custom roms?
Custom ROM here senless I've seen has the best battery I've noticed

all the ones you mentioned are safe to remove, there is not a list. So once you do get a 3D and have a list ready for what you'd like to remove, feel free to come ask in the team d3rp thread (link in my sig)
Here is a list, also with explanations:

looks semi legit...
damn fast even with LWP though. nice to see the honeycome lock screen. rather have the vibrate function though !
I just saw this, it looks pretty damn nice. I love the coloring. Seems pretty nice. I can't wait
Sent from my double barrel Shooter. BANG!
I could care less for the look (I prefer MIUI & HTC Sense design so color me bias) but I want the fillings (features it brings).
The owner should dump the system here at XDA...
Look semi really saw it a few minutes , funny how it could be truth and if it is just before iPhone 5 drops LOL, anyways doesn't really impress me tho , I want to see better api for apps and hopefully some.new killer features

Looks like it was most likely legit....seeing as how it was remotely wiped.
From the Nexus S forum thread
I don't buy it... The story is a little too unbelievable, and it looks too much like the Icecream launcher that was available for download here last week. Possibly a skinned version.

Convenient that.
I call fake. The About screen strangely lists "Icecream Sandwich", but on every Android I've played with it would list the numerical designator (such as "2.3.4"). Things also appear more skinned than stock (I would hope Google has a bit better sense of graphic design than what I'm seeing there).

Yeah, I still have my doubts. Guess we'll find out in the next couple months though.

If that was real ICS, you think HTC is going to switch desktops from the HTC Sense one to the ICS one?
I doubt it but it would be cool to see them giving an option.
SUCH BS..
They wouldn't wipe it, they'd send out corporate security to buy the phone back and investigate the theft...
Wow. SO MUCH IMPROVEMENT. Real or not, widgets in the app drawer is nice. Also the home button feature is swagged out. I cant imagine CM8.
#SWAG!!!
It never worked properly anyway but it was an advertised feature. It says on the page we have until April 30th to dowload any content or data saved on the site. Maybe something better is coming... is this a hint that ICS is April 30th?? Just saying

Source?
Edit: saw the email, eh, whatever
It says features previously available in HTCSense.com are no longer available. Looks like they are just doing major changes (thank the lord)
It was absolutely buggy and horrid before.
Evertime I tried to use it, It would be under "maintenence" or my device couldn't be found lol
Hm, hope it comes back in some sense. It sounded interesting and fun

Jeez, if I took a picture of my junk and Photoshop'd a date onto it, would you guys take that as another hint towards ICS?

well this is the htc official statement...
April 30, HTC will be removing some HTCSense.com services. Customer data will be available for download until that date to ensure customers do not lose any important information. This is in response to customer feedback, and HTC is working to improve our services to provide a more enhanced customer experience.

I think you're an absolute prick. But I laughed out loud literally when I read this post.
All this ics **** is getting a bit redundant.

Probably a good move by HTC as the website never did seem to function correctly and seemed very buggy when I tried it out.

Glad to see that I'm well liked.
Edit: And seriously, I can't think of anything that I may have done to warrant being called a prick, besides being honest. If you want, you can PM me and we can try to work this out civilly.
I'm not here to be hated, I'm here to be honest. I guess the two might have a lot to do with each other.

Honestly, it looks like a whole lot of nothing to me. The HTCSense.com stuff has been pretty isolated and really doesn't provide anything for ROM developers; from what I've gathered, it's mostly for app devs. They aren't going to upload Sense source code or anything, they're probably just going to update the site so that everything is up to standards.
it will probably be relaunched as dashwire or integrated with...
This is a really nice project and works great with the Scribe Pen. Found it while browsing net.
Check it out.
looks good, will try it.
another very good app is lecture notes, if that's what your looking for.
Yup used it as well.. just found another nice app so thought of sharing it. Liked the pen guestures in this. Makes quick note taking faster.

I like it better than Quill....
you should also try LectureNotes!
really good one! maybe the best!
I thought I should add my cents here.
I used my Jetstream all of Fall 2012 semester for class. And I used papyrus for all 12 of my graduate credit hours. Amazing app.
I submitted my final reflections in one course via papyrus thanks to its syncing function with dropbox. I plan to use it again this semester which just began today for me. This app is one reason why this tablet hasn't yet died off for me personally.
Thanks papyrus devs.
Only thing I would like to see is an option to completely disable touch as I end up moving the screen around with my hand (maybe because I'm a lefty?) I feel like I can't fully rest my hand on the screen like I want to because of this. And one other thing which may fix the first problem- I would like to see a paper size option that is exactly the size of the jetstream screen. I like pages that I can look at one at a time- not scroll around on.
They do accept requests for new features. Check out http://papyrus.uservoice.com/forums/177239-general/filters/top
They are working on things like jumping pages in a particular note, insertion if images, etc. You can vote for your requested feature.

. Ok, so to make this seem like it is actually an important piece of news can anybody actually give any statistics showing that this was an item widely used and loved by people? I'm a clown, I know nothing about it. If you say google hired tim cook away from apple that means something to me. Google only paid 25 million for this outfit does that mean it sucks or will any of us android users benefit from this? Sorry to come off stupid but i am. Give me a little knowledge please and thank you.
Sparrow is loved by many people because although it can be used for multiple email services, it specializes and really shines with GMail. In fact, having used it, I can say it's almost better looking and more functional than our own Android GMail app. The desktop app for OS X (which I played with on my brother's Air) is fantastic, and I sorely wish we had something similar on Windows. Thunderbird just isn't what I want.
That being said, I don't know how this is a "slap in the face to Apple". The Sparrow team specifically said they're not dropping the app at all, and it will continue to receive support. If this makes you giggle, I guess you laugh very easily then...
True that they'll still support Apple, but would it be safe to say that Google won't want them supporting it as much as usual? I would think their attention will be elsewhere typically.

Anything that directly or indirectly affects apple in their gloat train does make me laugh. For google to purchase a company that up until today only supported apple, makes it a good day. True they'll still support apple as google already does, but it takes yet another item away that apple can say is 'theirs' per say.

I am unsure what you mean by "gloat train", and I'm not sure I agree with your opinion about "taking away an item", but that of course is your opinion.

Sorry you feel that way. Threads get shut down when they get out of hand, you know, flaming, trolling, etc. So if this one can stay civil, then it will remain open.
"Google has struggled with its Gmail app for iOS. The company likely brought the Sparrow team in to help improve its Gmail experience on iOS and Mac, as well as potentially Android and PCs" This is a quote from mashable. So in reality It seems they are trying to make google and mac work better together. There could be no better outcome than that.

I know, i cant' help myself. I keep seeing people panicking over things that will probably mean nothing and it drives me nuts. I was on Appadvice today and they were basically having a "wake" for the Sparrow iOS app. The question that comes to mind is... "What about Chomp?" It was an app that help you when shopping for an app in the overcrowded Google Play Store but once Apple bought it...Poof! Gone!
Google's mobile branch makes most of its money thru Apple and Mac users. So, unless there is a google boycott from Apple causing a dip in the red, why would google stop supporting them?
Maybe got a little too ahead of myself. Just makes little sense for google to acquire Sparrow and have them continue to support Apple. That is until u know the details of what Sparrow makes and why Google acquired them. Not sure why Apple would mind Google sponsoring development of the gmail app for Mac.
If there is something I'm missing please let me know before calling me names, but shouldn't Apple be giggling?
