Does any custom rom for optimus one support fast dormancy ? My earlier Samsung android used to swtich to UMTS mode when not actively using data and used to move up to HSDPA when data was actively used. This helped it to save a lot of battery on 3G.
I don't see my optimus one doing that even with stock or any custom rom. Anyone has any ideas ?
With stock rom, the indicator icon switches from 3G to H though, when using data. But maybe you meant something different?
JuiceDefender provides some options for automatically switching between 2g/3g etc. Since this doesn't work with the stock rom, I haven't tried it though.
It never switched from 3G to H for me on the stock ROM. It was constantly at H. Is there any way to force the phone to switch ?
Does CM7 provide any method to do it ? Am using void #forever 2.3.4 currently.

Hi, I have a quick question.
I live in Canada and am currently on the Bell Network with the SGS2. Recently I flashed over Lite'ning ROM v. 6.0 and have noticed kind of an odd feature. I have also noted this feature in the the stock XXKG5 rom I'd also flashed in an attempt to correct the issue. (Failed).
Anyway, I noticed that when I lock the phone, or am just simply playing around on it with no data required, the phone stops using the H+ signal and switches to standard 3G. I realize this is to conserve battery, however, the crossover causes a very annoying delay. For example, when I load the browser the phone stalls for a moment to switch to H+, then if I idle for a moment on the webpage (Reading a paragraph, etc) the phone switches back to 3G so I have to go through the 60 second delay again if I wish to go to another webpage. This is very problematic if I am filling out a forum, or posting on boards, etc. I have already disabled fast dormancy, and have done numerous searches so I don't know if I am wording myself wrong or what, but is there a way to turn this nice, but annoying feature off?
Don't disable FD.
Try this, (in keypad)

Hey, thanks for the reply. I ended up finding my UGKG2 stock modem and flashed it over...no more problems...awesome data speeds.
Hello,
I was wondering if there was a How-To thread on doing this? Or could someone help me do this? I couldn't find any from my search's.
Current ROM: δ-HyperDroid-Androidmeda-v3.0 (with petsaj's surgeon)
This feature is already there in the Hyperdroid + petsaj surgeon combo I use. The reason I ask on a how-to for this is because, for some reason, custom ROM's that have this particular feature are the only one's I can use to get 3g data connectivity. Otherwise, I always get this irritating "Refreshing SIM data" pop up, which eats up battery, and heats up the back of the phone.
I'm still not a 100% on whether this would be the actual reason, or whether its a an issue with my carrier, but i want to give it a try so i can know for certain.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Arjun.
Im on Revolution ROM, and it has this feature. Try it c:

Thanks. But I'd like to find out how to do it myself; to test and see if this is whats causing issues with 3g data connectivity for me. I think even Simple & Clean v2.x has this, and so do a few others.
But I don't think MIUI ROM's have this (not sure about this again - from the MIUI's I've tried, doesn't seem like they do).
My main concern has to do with 3g.
Thanks again.
Sorry to bump this. I didn't want to create another thread with the same question.
Hopefully someone from Hyperdroid would see this.
It's as simple as changing some png's... Download my surgeon, navigate to /vrtheme/SystemUI.apk and see which ones are blue and which ones are grey.
Thanks petsasj.
Will try it once I'm back from work.

Ok. I was just having a look at the pngs in the Androidmeda 5.2.xx and the pngs in /vrtheme/SystemUI.apk (of your surgeon). Only difference I see is the colours are green in the base while they blue in the surgeon.
I dont think this could be the coz of my 3g issues.
Petsasj: any idea why I am able to use 3g only after flashing your surgeon? Like i said before, if i flash the base ROM (or any ROM for that matter), either of two things will happen:
1. In GSM/WCDMA mode, it'll search for my 3G network -> the 3G icon shows up, and instantly disappears. I am still connected to my 3G network, but there is no data connection. On checking the "Status" in Settings it shows up as Mobile Network->Connecting.
2. In GSM/WCDMA mode, it'll search and connect to my 3G network -> there wont be a 3G data connection. "Status" in Settings says Disconnected.
For both the above instances, this "Refreshing SIM data" pop-up keeps on coming. The phone heats up at the back - battery goes down the drain! Very annoying. 2g works though (with data connectivity).
But if I flash your surgeon (and only your surgeon btw, the other surgeons dont help me with this issue ), everything works! 3G, 2G, switching between the two... !
Would u have any idea as to whats causing this??
Arjun.
Just installed NDT MIUI Ginger 2.3.7 latest and i ran into some issues i would need some help with. I tried searching for what i'm looking for without luck. On the other hand it is possible i don't know how to use the option itself.
Anyway, the issues i face are as such:
- cannot switch from 3G preferred to anything else (2G or 3G only);
when i select either of them, the screen blinks and takes me back to the previous screen
- cannot access internet over 3G eventhough i selected the correct APN or even created a new one according to the settings provided by Vodafone.
If you have any ideas, i would appreciate it.
Thanks.
Do you have the last build (V10)? Try reflashin', i got v10 and i'm currently on H+ rarely drops on 3G
Thanks for the advice. I am on v10. From what i can tell it got fixed on it's own. 3G data works fine and i can switch between 2G and 3G now.
I flashed again clean just to be sure, so far so good. The 2G 3G switch still flickers from time to time but it eventually lets me select what i want.
Thanks again.

Hi All.
Provider: "3" Austria
ROM: Omega V32 & Android Revolution HD 9.0.0 (or earlier)
When the Phone is lost the Network connection (elevator, no coverage,...), it reconnects, everything seems to be fine, it shows also 3G or H+ data connection, but that's not true, what's displayed on screen, phone calls are possible, but there is no data connection available.
Restarting the phone and everything is fine. Switching off( on FlightMode or data won't help.
Now I installed just for testing CM10 nighly and it work's fine, no problems!! BTW, it worked also fine with Omega ICS Versions!
I like Omega or Revolution muc more then CM10, cause I like TouchWiz. Do you have any ideas, how to fix this? Maybe a different kernel?
THANKS for your help

u could try a different modem
Thanks für the hint... it's hard to find a summary of relating Modem's or Kernels to trie.
I did a full wipe now and installed everything from scratch, also using the latest Omega V26 Rom. It's a bit better now. The difference is, if it's loosing 3G, connecting to GSM it hardly reconnects to 3G, and if it's done, no most of the time HSDPA is not shown. It's not really reproducable, cause it depends on the location. Switch off / on data solves the problem.
I read somewhere here, that I'm not the only one with problems related the Austrian Provider "3". Anyone else here?
Maybe someone here has a list of Kernels and Modems to use or a link, where to find. I used Search but toooo many results for me to find the correct on.
Thanks

Hi all, I'm running Neutrino ROM 2.91 on my atrix 4g, and I often have a problem where my phone disconnects from wi-fi when it's been idle for a few minutes. In order to make it re-connect, I have to go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and then it automatically does at that point. From what I can tell, there aren't any settings that would cause the phone to do that. Additionally, I have my Mobile Network connection turned off (it's unlocked using T-Mobile so all I get is edge anyway). I'm not sure if it matters but I'm using Go Launcher EX. Any idea how I could fix that? I've tried a permissions fix but that doesn't appear to have done anything.
Also, this is a totally separate question, but when I back up my ROM using CWM, does each backup create a new, separate image? Or does it erase the older one and replace it with the newest iteration?
Thanks!
Edit: I should add wrt the original question - this is a different issue from the wifi "error" people seem to have been getting (I have not experienced that problem). Also, this happens on any network I'm connected to, so it's not just my home network.
Its a problem with all custom roms since forever on the atrix.
Only solution is to turn wifi sleep off or make a shortcut to wifi setting on home.
Also cwm makes seperate Inge files with different folder dates. You can't rename the dated folders or they will stop working

Thanks for the quick response. That's unfortunate, but I think I'll use that workaround.
