I need to narrow down my search for the fastest Eris ROM available as I use my Eris for work and speed is more important to me than beauty (but if both can be accomplished, then by all means... ) Anyway, any suggestions? Also, along the same line, will 2.1, 2.2, or 2.3 ROMs be quickest (as well as Sense-based vs. Non-Sense-based)? I have tried a few ROMs, but am looking to your opinion so that I don't wind up testing every ROM . Also, I have bought LauncherPro Plus and Beautiful Widgets, so Sense widgets aren't a huge deal to me. Thanks!

It's impossible to say - everybody's mix of apps is different, and what one person reports as faster another may report as slower. It's really not that hard to flash a few ROMs and try them out for a while and see what works best for you.

Pretty much this. But I will say, Gingerbread ROMs are supposed to be the fastest, and non-Sense should be faster than Sense any day.
KaosFroyo was insane when i was there, but now i use the Gingerbread rom that is supposedly a port of CM7 which has been running pretty good for me
None sense Gingerbread roms definitely from my experience are the quickest I've tried.

I would generally agree that non-sense/gb roms are going to be your best bet. KaosFroyo, may be a good route to go; especially if you need stability, or anything aosp, and without any bloat.... You may also play around with using different launchers too, as they can effect the speed, stability, and general feel of any rom. I like LP, but others are sleeker and smoother. There are also tons of Benchmark tests on the market that can be used if you want to see numbers- but I agree that your mix of apps/rom/launcher/ and intended use will greatly influence what fits you best.
And anything that is fast already can be overclocked..... setcpu has some great advanced settings that can help you find a balance of speed/battery useage (unless you have a charger/usb charger nearby in your line of work).

I'm running v22 GingerTazz BTW, and was on KaosFroyo before that... all slightly overclocked.
like i said, Kaos was an excellent dev and worked Froyo for all its money when he was around. KaosFroyo is by far the most stable rom around
Agree with Darca about non-Sense Gingerbread ROMs. I'm using GSB 3.1 (and have used KaosFroyo) and think it's the best hands down.

I have been on the 7.0.3 Cyanogen since it came out and seem twice as fast as any sense ROM I have used...
We can thank Tazz for that

Wondering which gingerbread or miui is the best as far as stability and features? I have been using ef3.6 for some time with no issues but don't want to get left behind if all the new development is going to gingerbread roms. Please anyone let me know which if any of these would be the best to update to.
My goal is not to start any feuds over which rom is better, just to get some educated info so that all functionality works and is stable and battery not draining etc.
thx
just realized this is probably in wrong forum but not sure how to move. soooooo sorry. will try and figure out.
CM7 is a good one to start of with: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116424
Posting in the correct section might help....
He admitted that he made a mistake which makes him better than 99% of posters on here.
As for which rom is best...its very subjective. Cm7 is a good balance between vanilla speed and addons and tweaks. Miui has a really nice ui overhaul and customizations. Om(f)gb are fast pure android goodness but might have a bit more broken.
You can't really go wrong with any of them and what you like best is inherently subjective. So give them all a try I'd sayn.
And if you are happy with ef, there's no need to jump ship right now. Newer might be objectively better but you might prefer to stick with what works. All of the aosp Roms have minor glitches so you could always wait a couple weeks and reevaluate.

THREAD RULES: We DO NOT ask for ETA or release dates in this thread!
So it seems like everybody goes crazy when it comes to the porting of CM7. But why?
I got my hands on a SGS2 with CM7 installed. Tried it, experienced it a little. From what I experienced the CM7 wasnt something that special. I asked the owner of the phone what he though of the ROM. To my surprise he said "it's just a ROM". He also mentioned that the stock ROM was smoother.
So now I'm wondering, why all the fuzz? What are you expecting from CM7? What makes it so special and so popular?
I'm pretty sure that a lot of people who craves for the porting of CM7 has no clue of this.
(off topic: tbh, i'd rather prefer MIUI.)
edit: for the interface
My sister's Backflip has CyanogenMod 7 installed with 2.3.3 (Not even Froyo is released in Asia-Pacific regions) , it allows her to have OC/UV kernels from 600Mhz to 748Mhz . Her phone is wayyyyy less laggier than stock .(the difference is obviously obvious)
I'm not really good on those areas but arent you able to do that using SetCPU?

he said using oc/uv.. his sister device only support 600mhz by default, but because she uses custom oc/uv kernel, she can achieve 748mhz with help of setcpu. it depends on clock stepping that were supported by kernel, not by setcpu. setcpu only help to configure those clock stepping
Oh, never knew about that. From my use of SGA 800mhz is doing alright.
And as I mentioned, not really good at those areas so I didnt even know that "oc/uv" was overclock and undervolt xD
Some bugs fixed are gonna be fixed in CM. Camera quality should be bit better. Theme engine is built into ROM, so there will be much more themes for SGA. Im also excited about haptic feedback (not sure about this one).
And much more...
What i wish most for, is fix for SoD...

I'm not really excited for cyanogenmod, but for MIUI. I want it so bad!
MiUi is cyanogen based, if I'm not wrong.
First off I'm sure in cm there will be accurate battery reporting. No ****ty jumps in percentage.
Second, if CM is under way I believe developers will include uv, through kernels or modules. Overclocking though, may not be necessary.
Other than that the rom has so many tweaks. Over time and development CM will make our original firmware outmoded because it WILL get smoother.

Speed, stability, power, eyecandy, etc, etc.
But most of all; bugfixes and much more stability compared to stock firmware, as it is said that CM7 is build from the ground up so in my eyes it won't or even can't have the flaws that stock has.
Hey, it's only my opinion.
i think it`s only way to forget about SODs
Cyanogen is popular for a few reasons. It incoporates most worthwhile mods and runs normaly as well if not better than stock. Plus for me on a personal view it will help to get miui for sga.

hahaha..if you want to know..CM is a special ROM I guess, more unlock option on kernel than stock ROM, so I can say CM is a very customizing ROM.
for a prove, u can use an app called Tasker, on that app u can get more customized settings if u using CM.
CMIIW. sorry bad english
Which ROM out there has the best support and the least flaws? I know none will be perfect but I would like a ROM that is fast, stable, and has optimal battery life. I know i could use the V6 Supercharger to make a ROM faster but I would like to know what ROM you guys recommend? Thanks
For the 10 billionth time: It's really up to you to figure this out. Considering that there's only 4 custom ROMs available (for the 7510), I think you are capable of doing the research yourself.

I'm going to second the in paris v5, I just rooted and flashed and couldn't be happier. There is one clich that I found and that is on some web pages in browser it will not let you go back with the back arrows, small problem but so far the only one I see.
Task650 makes the best ROM.

check out the dev. forums, do a little research. If your asking you shouldn't be flashing roms really. All v6 supercharger does in most cases is mess things up
So avoid flashing supercharger? It doesn't take a computer genius to flash a ROM, I just don't have the time to flash every ROM and mess with it, thanks for the positive responses though.

I have yet to see any real proof that the supercharger script actually makes this thing better. I have flashed and run all of the different ROMs, and its really up to you as far as look and feel are concerned.
As far as support goes, I will say that Task and Phantom has been great in keeping us bug free, but I have not interacted with the other devs as much, and so I won't knock their Roms because I can't say what their level of support is.
Happy Flashing
Overcome is good too
I will say that I like both in Paris and Overcome. In Paris has a custom theme which I'm not fond of but you can install the touchwiz theme over it if you prefer. I like Overcome because it is the stock honeycomb theme.
It's really a rather personal choice so you do have to try more than one to decide.
thinking about rooting and installing ROM][09/09/2013]M7WLV Port is ths rom TOTALLY BUG FREE??
I've been using it for a few weeks now and haven't found a problem yet.
I'm not sure that any of the Rom's are totally bug free. Most of the sense based ROMs are pretty good! I'm not a big sense user but the ones I have tried work really well.

Cool thanks guys
There is no "best" ROM. Every ROM is great, as we have some rockin' awesome devs. It just boils down to preference.
Sense based:
Software designed for our hardware, less bugs, not many features, but things just.... Work.... You want to stay sense but want a metric S*** ton of features? Try Viper DNA, if you want a little less features, try NOS.
AOSP based:
Made for all iterations of Android devices, more prone to bugs, limited by software (I noticed AOSP camera compared to Sense on this device is a joke IMO, as Sense camera is MADE for this brand of phone, AOSP is made for a plethora of devices). You get nice features with no loss of performance (to a degree). With AOSP you get that Stock Android feel Google intends without OEM putting their skin on top of it.
It really boils down to the features you want, and the way you want your phone to act. Some Roms fly, some don't. It all is just the nature of the beast. Best to try a few out, just be sure to search that ROM's thread for any bugs, reviews, and features.

i've been running it for a while pretty bug free lol, i also run viperdna also pretty bug free, depends on what im feeling, clean stock vs super customization
ABFP (Android Bug Free Project). Just kidding. Anyway, Sense ROMs definitely have the least bugs, but the AOSP ROMs are pretty good too, mostly everything works. I suggest you give the Google Play Edition ROM a try though, It's got all the benefits of being a sense-based ROM but it feels like pure AOSP. It doesn't have all the cool features of the real AOSP ROMs though.

My answer to this question is simple.. Though there are many great roms based on AOSP, they are all based on the CM 10.2 source.. For me, there are still too many bugs that I consider to be showstoppers ... I love AOSP and always will.. but I've been running Sense 5 since Joelz released just the rom OP is asking about.. now I've moved to Venom since I'm a tester and it frankly just works. Battery life is good, performance.. etc. It's all there.. I think there is a strange issue with Skype, but I don't use it.. those that do I feel bad, especially those that use it for phone calls, Venom will fix it.. just in time. :good: ... But honestly, this question can't be answered by anyone but you. Flash all the roms available, give them 3 days each.. operate like you normally do on your phone and see.. Really the only way.. But the most 'bug fee' will always be on Sense based roms.. :highfive:
Running gpe right now because I needed to use viber. With xposed it looks just like any other aosp rom. Maybe I'm just biased, but it doesn't feel as snappy as the proper cm/aosp roms.
