If Apps to sd does what it says, then does it mean that whenever we flash a new ROM we don't have tto restore the ones on tthe sd card?

How would your new rom know they are there if it wasn't installed in it? You would still need tb to reinstall them
For some reason after roit and cwm i cant fund my ext sd card. I pulled ut backed up data, format and restored data then reinstalled. Still can't find it. HELP lol

Should have read sooner. Seems v2 was the culprit. Back to v1 for now
Use V4 it works properly. V1 has possible broken backup.

Just install "titanium backup" from play store. Backup your apps and system. Flash your another ROM, install TB again. And restore your apps.

Dont forget to back up to external SD, otherwise when wiping sd card, you lose your backups too. (personal experience)
Also make a nand backup, in case you want to revert
Plus you should already have a backup of your EFS folder .
jje
Dirry.. what is EFS folders ?!!

EFS contains your IMEI.
it doesn't always happen, but sometimes you can lose that information and your imei becomes 00000000000000 or somesuch.
Where i can find this folder?!! Abd now..the best way ti backup my apps is via nand backup?!! Because i have many games have big extrrnal data not shown or backup with the backup apps..
Here is what i will do and tell me if i made wrong..i will backup my all data with any of backup app..then make a nand backup..to backup the apps external data..then after flashing..i will restore apps from the backup app. .and if i launch itnit will ask me to downliad the data again..but niw i will restore that data from nand backup...is that wilk work?!! Is taht all right..
Thanks....

Here's the easiest breakdown:
Get Titanium Backup. (buy the pro key if you want. If you flash quite abit, it's worth the money)
Back up all your apps (it will also back up your data) and make sure it's backed up to your sd card.
export your messages, call history, and wifi ap as xml (via TB. hit menu to see the export option)
Use your Contact app to export all your contacts as a vcf file.
If you're using a rom that has Aroma Installer, you should be given an option to back the efs folder up. I think it's also found on the root directory or in the system folder. It's a folder that says EFS. you can't miss it.
now go into cwm, do a nand backup.
once that's done.
Wipe cache and data
install new rom.
set it up.
and do the reverse of the backups off everything. (so import instead of export and restore instead of backup)
EDIT: try not to back up system settings. restoring that would most likely cause FCs or a full crash. but restoring the usual apps are almost always ok. Avoid system apps unless you know they're the same.

It doesn't matter, the big game files are stored on sdcard and are not concerned by flashing process. They'll be preserved and when restoring app the game will automatically detect them.
What we call data app are all settings, stored in /data partition and erased with data wipe process. The graphical data used by games to run are not the same thing.
What Striatum said.
Mean the flashing doesnt earase all data on sd card?!!! (I an talking about internal i dont have external card...and all thing is stored on the internal....that u meab?!!flashing doesnt delete all sd inernal fard?!!!

no it doesn't erase the internal card. I have maintained the structure of my internal card when I flashed from stock to Omega.
The internal card is treated as a storage card. when they say wipe, they meant wipe the part of the storage that is partitioned for the rom, not for the partition that is for user storage.
So if you follow what I told you.. you would be all set.
Thanks bro

My titanium automatically saves to sd location, internal memory. If I load a new ROM and wipe all my stuff will this be erased ? Should I be saving to external sd card location? Is there a reason to save backups to internal memory ?
I am still getting used to working with an android os and making backups right on my device so any info or help would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Just do not choose to wipe internal our external sd cards ... Wipe cache, davilk, data and a system. Then flash your rom and g apps if need.
Pics and files will be safe and waiting on you.
Remember when restoring do not restore data to system apps. Only user ... And I am selective on those add well. The fewer the better.

Since rooting wipes the device, is there any reliable method to back stuff up? I.e., if I use kies to backup the device before root, can I use kies to restore after root? I obviously can't use titanium.

Bump.......

Rooting does not wipe the phone and you can backup your files to a computer or if you have a external sd card you can backup your stuff there too

Rooting wont wipe or delete anythings, never used Kies before so i cant comment on that.
