[Q] CM7 with stock Contacts app? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I just flashed CM7 to my phone. It's kinda awesome. Responsive as all get out, practically zero lag ever, all that good stuff. The only thing I'm having issues with is how the contacts app isn't as flexible with joining facebook contacts with Google contacts as the stock contacts app was, seeing as how a lot of my contacts are listed in one as their real name and the other as a nickname. Is it possible to have the stock contacts app instead of the AOSP one?

Contacts aren't syncing/linking.

I've noticed recently that my contacts aren't syncing/linking to each other anymore. It's done this on multiple roms so I don't think it's rom specific.
I have facebook, facebook for sense, google and phone contacts visible. So for some (most) contacts I have 4 duplicates. I know that I could disable some of those contacts from being visable but I like them all being visable, mostly for the facebook pictures for their display pictures.
Short of going through and linking all 4 contacts together for each person for my entire contact list, how would I go about fixing this? Why is there no auto link feature in sense? (other than it doing it automatically when it feels like it) This seems a bit silly to me.

what exactly is motoblur? as far as features

Just as title asks, i know that motoblur on photon has the social networking widgets and that stuff. Biggest question is, i currently have a stock rom and have my facebook sync'd to my phone and it combines my contact list with facebook and blah blah, anyways i like how i have my contact photos syncing with facebook. IF i flash to CM7(or any blur-less rom) will i lose this? Or will i still be able to sync my facebook into my phone and have my contacts and contact photos sync together like it is now? Not the end of the world if it doesn't, just want to find out any possible downside before flashing anything.
blur is nothing but bells and crap. flash cm7 and you have settings to choose to integrate social networks or not. I have CM7 and i have it to sync contacts to pictures so they show up with latest pix when they call. I can confirm that it works.

i believe you still can integrate the facebook contacts via CM7 i might be wrong on this one, but its the facebook app that can still offer that as well, like the things you would lose is like the stock music app, any moto apps really since they are built into the framework, settings will be a little different, theme customization will be different as well, sometimes it can free up and even speed up your phone by removing even more bloat. one thing i cant live without is the stock moto music player. i really do like it but its built into the framework so i cant move it over to cm7 im hoping i can figure out a workaround for that one

[Q] Contact and SMS management and import app

Hey guys!
I recently flashed my HD2 with a Cyanogen based ROM - Hyperdroid - which I recommend whole heartedly. Before that I had a Sense based one which I did not like that much..
However, laggy and clunky as it was it did have something I really appreciated: an app to migrate contacts and sms from previous phones and a nice contact aggregator (not sure if I can call it that) that paired facebook contacts with phone contacts.
I was wondering if any of you fine folks knew about a similar app available from the market or somewhere else. Thanks!

Have a look at Call Logs Backup & Restore and SMS Backup & Restore, both available in the Market.
I currently use NexusHD2 CyanogenMod 9 ICS by tytung and the Gingerbread versions (non-cyanogen) before it and I always migrated SMS and contacts with these apps though Google also restores contacts.
Thanks But what I was looking for is an app to import data from another - in this case non-android - phone.. Any ideas?
To say this is coming late is would be the biggest understatement of the decade. I believe you did find a solution at some point but for anyone else who is interested, "Bluetooth File Transfer" by Medieval Software has a option for exploring another devices data over Bluetooth.
Found it when I used Java-based feature phones in the past but realised it works on Android too.
Why do you need an app for this? You can just sync your contacts with gmail which is the best way to keep your contacts. I used this method between android and iphone. Other than that I used windows programs before I used gmail where you export the contacts to the pc then import them to another device or something like that. Syncing with gmail is the best choice though.

[Q] Restore or sync contacts in ICS

I am rooted! YAY! I didn't know that my contacts with fb would not sync, and neither are all of mine from google. booo!
Is there any way to get my facebook contacts to sync with my phone contacts? I really liked having all those pics for everyone, plus all of the other contact info. I didn't know that the backup my phone was syncing with every day (was it with verizon?) on stock GB was not a contact list that I would not be able to use on ICS. I lost a lot of contacts. How do I get all of my google contacts to show up, and how come it's only showing me some of them, and not all of them? Where do I go to manage all of my google contacts and get them on my phone? Do I do that from the desktop gmail in my pc browser?
Also, is there a way to make the contact manager list the contacts without the ginormous pictures in a side-by-side fashion? I really don't like the look or feel of it, is there a better way?
ETA: This might be helpful, duh, sorry

For google just set your gmail up or google voice and they should automatically show up.
Just do a google search. Thats what I did.
well, that is incredibly outdated and poorly written information, but thanks.

You're going to have to use an app such as HaxSync if you want to sync your Facebook contacts in ICS.

thank you! I knew their had to be a way. Is there a different contacts manager for ICS? I really dislike the one that it comes with. Maybe I am just too used to the one that GB had, but I find the one is ICS to very unwieldy.

FB contacts in Go Contacts

I've been searching Google and I still can't find an answer to this. I upgraded my EVO 3D to Mean ICS last week from Gingerbread and I installed Nova launcher, and I'm trying to use Go Contacts as my main dialer but my FB contacts aren't showing. They show in the default People app but not Go Contacts. I've seen threads about syncing the pics from FB but I want to fix the permissions so all the contacts from FB show in the 3rd party app just like they did in gb.

That was fixed, but when Mikey updated to the new base, it may have broken. People swear by a $1 app named Haxsync. The say it works perfectly.
