I don't have a Droid X2, but I am interested in helping out. If anyone can find me in #moto-atrix on Freenode. We can try using 2nd-init on the Droid X2. It would help with custom roms.
Let me know what to do and I would be willing to try.

If others want to help test, find me in #moto-atrix on Freenode.

It worked? So now there's a workaround for the bootloader?
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA Premium App
It doesn't exactly bypass the bootloader. There are various levels of exploit.
From low to high:
1. Root, root level access good for a lot
2. 2nd-init, control over the init process
Normally you would have this on a Linux box, but init is included in the ramdisk, which is part of the boot partition. The boot partition is signed with a private key, and the bootloader checks the signature to prevent changes to the boot partition.
3. Kernel, this requires either bypassing the bootloader, kexec(to boot another kernel), or 2nd-boot(run a second bootloader after the first).
4. Bootloader, something like an unlock
5. nvflash, on tegra2 phones there is a flash method that is the top level and lets you change as much as possible
Thanks for the info. I'm new to the x2, came from the fascinate.

I use NV flash on my gtablet. If that's the highest form why hasn't t been implemented on tegra 2 phones?

It is possible on Tegra2 phones, but requires the SBK(Secure Boot Key). It is a 32 digit hex key for AES encryption. Bruteforcing it would be pointless, because the number of possible keys is just insane. Retail phones have SBKs. Engineering/Development phones do not have SBKs.
The ASUS Transformer and Acer Iconia both have their SBKs. The Transformer's is one key shared across all Transformers. The Iconia has a unique key per Iconia, and it is based on the device uid. They both didn't discover them from the tablets, but software leaks from the manufactures.

Hello fello forum members,
As some of you might have read, I'm rocking the bionic now. However, I love this community so I'll still be around - and I want to share something if I can.
Zumocast. This is awesome. Similar to Moto phone portal (I think- never used it) in the sense that you can access your computer.
With zumocast, I can grab any file from my computer at any time. I can stream all of my music, grab a work file I forgot, or install an apk I have on my desktop. It is SOLELY my music player now, as I have my entire library available to me without a single file on my phone. Talk about memory savings boys and girls...
I don't want to blindly post the file because I don't know if it will play nice. Does any dev/amateur dev want the file to see if they can make it work? It might work fine, but I'm not going to risk bricking anybody, unless they ask for it
It's the bees knees folks. Highly recommended.

Sounds pretty cool! Be neat if some one did get it working!
I use Google Music for music though, can have up to 20,000 songs, I uploaded 11,000+. Works great. But i like the thought of grabbingbstuff off ky computer anytime anywhere!

Pulled this off a D3 dump a while back and pushed it to system Apps. I agree it is sweet, and does run on the X2. Just doesn't update in market. Works fine for me now so really don't care about any update.
Edit: I emailed support asking why the X2 wasn't on the compatible list. It's been a month, no response, imagine that.

Secure FTP (encrypted FTP basically). I have a linux server at my house that hosts all of my media.. etc, and I access anything at home or away from home this way. I do not trust motorola what-so-ever.
So funny, Zumocast support replied back stating someone must of rewrote their program to make work on the X2. I replied "No just installed it and it worked". They replied "They will look into support for the X2"

What a drag. I am really hoping to see an FXZ soon. Honestly it is the lack of FXZ that has me seriously considering the GN.
Personally I require a back out plan...if none exists honestly I don't want the phone. Mostly because the other thing I require is root. I know I can root the Razr as I already have....but I am seriously timid due to lack of FXZ.
This is why over Christmas I bought a Nexus, pretty much screw it up as bad as you want and theres always a way back. That and its been out for 1/2 the time and has 1000% more development on it already. I gave my wife my RAZR, her first smart phone.

Hi everybody!
I just got my hands on a RAZR MAXX LE (The red one) and I no longer have use for my OG RAZR. Instead of selling it on eBay or craigslist I want to give it to a developer (FREE!). Developers do all the work and hacks for our phones and I feel they get little or no appreciation so I want to offer my CDMA VZW RAZR (Blue) to a developer.
How should I go about this? I want to give it to one of our main developers like Matt.
Send it to a developer who is working on a bootloader bypass, they tend to brick phones more often. I think hashcode has been working on bypassing the droid 3 bootloader with some success, if he had a back up razr he might be willing to take a chance on working on it. Kholk has bypassed the boot loader with some limitations on hw for gsm, he maybe able to get the cdma bypass working if he had one. Just some thoughts.

Not that I don't have any faith, but from what I've gathered thus far the work Adam has been doing has been heavy on the hardware modification side of things. And I'm fully expecting that whatever he may or may not reveal tomorrow, it will be dependent on modifying the phones internals.
It excites me that the man can give a big middle finger to Verizon saying "I > you" but I don't know if it means anything to the masses. It's certainly not something we'll be able to do by simply downloading something.
Still though props to him for what he has done. The man is a genius.

In believe Lee Harrison was working on the software side of unlocking the bootloader. What ever method they have used, I'm sure it'll require some use intervention. I don't believe they they would release a public hardware hack unless something similar to an unbrickable mod, which won't since there is nothing around the emmc. Only because most users would even try and fail miserably ending with hardware bricks. But from his post, if you screw it up, you end up an undetectable brick.
Just tread with caution.

Yup that's what I was thinking. Lee was working on the hardware side. Then Adam a few days ago posted that Lee is the man so I'm guessing Lee has found an exploit software wise but what Adam said about the undetectable brick makes me believe there might be some hardware modding to do. Just sucks that we were able to get a leaked boot loader like we did on the S3

Hi,
I'm pretty new here. So I'm doing lots of reading and searching on Google and XDA. In fact I just read an article that talks about The new Google 4.3 ROM's for every day use and allows you to download it too. Its for the Sony Z.
I realize I really need to just have someone format a micro SD card and create a few files in / named cryanogenmod and debian then put the cyanogenmod 7.2 in one folder and Debian in the other then follow whatever needs done on the laptop so ROM manager will install it.
Any takers?
Update:
I took all three of my phones to Zach at your way computer in Abilene, Texas and paid him $169 to flash my phones. That's per phone.
The Huawei is bricked, and the HTC Wildfire S runs crying over my mod 9.
The ZTE Avid has the Raptured ROM dual booting with Debian 7 and a 64 GB microsd card.
The second ZTE Avid isn't flashed as yet.
We'll be running DreamLinux 5 on this one, in addition to crying over my mod 10.3.
Currently, I'm running 169 apps and climbing.
Next up:
Libre Office on the ZTE Avid.

Yes demkator, $169.00 USD per phone.
The Raptured ROM needed reprogramming and lots of customisations to get it working properly and to dual boot with Debian 7.
It's sad that no one on XDA would take the nearly $500.00 I've spent so far on this project.
I don't like bloatware and I definately got the cash.
The HTC Wildfire S now runs crying over my mod 9 Instead.
I've downloaded Metropcs.apk to add total protection and easy wifi.
Next step is to unlock the phones so I can't get busted for off network usage, even overseas.
Theroretically, this phone will work on both gsm and cdma once unlocked.
