Call from HTC? - HTC EVO 3D

My mom just got home from work and she told me that HTC had called her phone and left a voicemail. In the voicemail this guy said he was with HTC product research and he wanted to follow up on a device exchange I did the other day.
Anybody else get a call from HTC after you exchanged your phone?
BTW my mom is the account holder so I guess thats why they called her and not me, even though it was my phone that was having the problem.

I got the same call after I exchanged my phone. I didn't answer, but they left a message saying they wanted feedback on my experience with the phone. Said they'll call back in a week.

Tell them to S-OFF...

LOL

I got a call last week. They said they called because I exchanged my phone and wanted to know why. I told them I had poor 3G speeds and volume issues. I also made the guy note that HTC needs to follow through with their commitment to unlock the bootloader.

I got a call but it was regarding the customer complaint on the locked bootloader. They asked how the issue could be resolved. I told them unlocked the damn bootloaders... Anyone else get a call like this?

User: Hello?
HTC: Hi, this is HTC calling. We noticed you had recently upgraded your phone and would like to know how it's doing and if we can make our devices any better for you?
User: S-Off
HTC: Sir/Ma'am excuse me?
User: S-off
HTC: *click*

Hmmm, hopefully they are not calling everyone that has returned their phone, they could be very busy...
I exchanged my phone last week and didn't get a call from HTC. Maybe when I take my current phone for another this weekend I will get the call...
First phone the power button was too sensitive, tend to hit the button and instead of sleeping the phone would come up with the menu (and usually go into airplane mode). The replacement phone has terrible reception.

You guys that got the call...did you buy from Sprint? I did BB and the Shmackle and never got a call.

I was just wondering this same exact question. I also got my current E3D from BB and the last one from RS.

Its mostly just if you get a replacement device.

I got the call
I got a call from them too, talked to them for quite a few minutes about the phone actually, felt pretty good to have a manufacturer call me and ask my opinions about the device.
Way I look at it if they take the time to call you and get information why not pick up and give it to 'em. I mean who really takes the time to get that close with their customers' anymore really?
Anyway guy also told me that they are gonna keep doing it at least with Sprint for the moment and that they have been doing it for the HTC Shift and the 3D too!
I told the guy he sold me for life with HTC devices.

Just got the HTC call
HTC just called me asking me about my exchange(s). The gentleman was very polite, and even though he was just a note taker was pleasant to talk to. Asked what I like, disliked, etc. What I thought about the Sprint customer service. Asked me about the temperature of the phone which I never had a complaint about and the battery life which I answered that I always have a charger available close by at all times. Also asked if 3d was a feature or a gimmick, that would I buy a phone with it again.
Told them that with 2.3.4 that the Google Voice didn't support video, a feature that would be great to have.
HTC made me feel like they are truly listening to us.

Tmobile lost my phone?

To start, I am a prepaid customer using a vibrant bought at a off contract price. Ok, so my phone starts having numerous problems (very low volume earpiece, poor reception in a good area, etc.) and I get a replacement order. Catch is, I have to send the phone in first. Great, I send it in and they tell me to wait 10 business days. Tomorrow is the 10th day, and guess what, no status on the replacement shipment. I know tmobile has received my phone as by the UPS tracking site, yet no shipment info. I have filed a Handset Research Form already and the reps know nothing about whether or not the vibrant is on backorder. What should I do, call and complain to customer loyalty?
(I have talked to customer loyalty and they transfered me back to the prepaid reps, for something completely unrelated to accounts and refills. )
Call them, and explain your situation, and if some rep starts saying "we can't know for sure" or something, bring your game on, be angry.
Tmobile loves angry costumers.
I once asked for a replacement nicely, then they told me some bullcrap, so i got pissed, and told them i want my replacement NOW and if i don't get it, i'm going to come over to a tmobile store, steal one off their show-case and put the broken one on there and leave. She told me "sir your crazy" so i kept getting pissed, eventually after 20 minutes i got a replacement order done

Its a rule of thumb In retail the nice customer doesnt get jack crap. The loud mouth ahole gets all kinds of discounts and his butt kissed for a few reasons.
1 The person you are talking to doesnt really wanna hear your mouth.
2 Its bad press for them. Everyone always remembers the bad services.
3 If you ***** enough corporate will hear it and make you do it anyway because they do not want to deal with. Then you look like the total ass for not doing it in the first place.
These are all reasons why people in my store get free ****. ( no you cant come yell at me because I dont work for t-mobile)
If you don't get any info soon, try emailing [email protected] Explain what is going on in the email and a number they can reach you at. They respond pretty quick. I had a call back within 4 hours on a sunday. They work for the office of the president of tmoble and have the power to get things taken care of.
They are actually the ones that got me hooked on Android. Had issues with the BB that the wife and I had and I esculated the promblem to them. Ended up getting two Cliqs delived the day they were released and 2 months free on the bill.

Being nice doesnt work. Get tough. Btw my story was real. U need to call them out and curse em too maybe not too much but just the right amount
Start slow and be nice at first. be prepared to make multiple calls(thats if you have another phone handy) In the span of an hour.
Dont disrespect the person themselves! They will not help you if you do.

+1 Before I switched to Walmarts Family Mobile (uses TMobiles towers) I always gave TMobile 5 chances on the phone to get what ever problem I had fixed. Never got rude or anything. If by then the problem wasn't resoved, I would email the ExecutiveResponse team and it was handled almost always in the first call that they made to me.
Thanks guys, emailed executive response. Waiting for a response.

Nope, still waiting. I expect a delay of a day or two.
Who here thinks I can get through a request for a vibrant and free hd2 along with it to reimburse for my inconveniences?
LOL I don't think that will happen but you may get a new Vibrant out of it. Just remember when they call to be nice and calm.
Any response yet?
They never called me but I got an email for ME to call them. Wish me luck today!
Good luck bro, Hope to hear some good news soon.
just tweet them @TMOBILE
you'll have a response the same day.
also, just go into the chat, warranty/replacement, when it asks if you are flex, just hit no. Tell them you had a replacemnt order, and have not received it yet and are wondering the status.
They were able to look up my Wifes order, and tell me the tracking number, that it was delivered to the office the day after I placed the order...(They must know me) lol
The day I contacted them was the 6th day after I placed the order, (great front office huh?)
So yeah, just be nice. If anything, they will overnight you one.
Trust me, they arent on backorder.
Agree that they are not on back order. Two guys I work with just had thier MyTough Fenders bricked by the ota they just released for it and TMobile is relpacing with Virbrants.

Have to send my phone to HTC... Have a question

So I have a substantial amount of dust under the top right of my screen. I went into a sprint repair center and I was told they could not do anything for me besides paying the $100 deductible. I told them it looked like absolute **** and this is what they said, "Well sir, I'm sorry you are not happy but all we can suggest is using an Otterbox case and keeping your phone away from dust." I told them I work with concrete and they said, "Your best bet is to leave you phone in your truck then." I walked out after causing some attention and called sprint customer service. I told them what happened and they told me to go to the other repair center which is 40 miles from my house and see what they said. They apologized for the response the guy gave me.
Long story short I decided to call HTC (who were incredibly nice) and see what they said. They told me I could send it in and they'd give me a brand new one after having mine inspected. So here comes my question...
Question: I was rooted but ran the RUU and now am trying to obtain S-ON again. Once I obtain S-ON is there any way they'll be able to tell I was rooted with "prohibited" software?
Alright I have S-On now but it still checks for PG36IMG.zip's. Is that okay?

Yeah the bootloader always checks for PG86IMG, PG86DIAG, etc... You *should* be good.
If I am understanding Treve's findings, they know unless you've only used the cID-less roms from the past few weeks. It shouldn't matter for a hardware issue though.

New Photon With Issue

I bought a Photon from a guy off CL today. It was new but one that was sent back as a warranty replacement phone. Still had the screen protector on it, the battery was in a sealed as was the back plate.
Here's my issue
When youre using the phone, about every 15 seconds, the displays shuts down. It doesnt actually shut down, it just displays nothing.. the display light at the bottom is still on and pressing the power button twice fixes it for about 15-20 seconds. Basically you have to put the screen to sleep and then wake it back up to the lock screen.
Is this a known issue or did I get a lemon? Ill probably never track this guy down again to make this right.
Have you tried chaning the display settings?
Settings >> Display >>> Screen time out increase to something else??? While you are there make sure it is not on 15second timeout????
Having the timeout at this setting would explain this weirdness?

Try
Settings,Dispaly, Screen time out.
It not the screen timeout. The screen isnt actually going off.. its just going black.. the backlight stays on and the buttons stay lit up and touching the screen actually makes things happen, you just cant see them happening. Actually turning the screen off and then back on with the power button is the only way to fix it.
Well, took it to Sprint and they wouldnt touch it. Told me it had to be on the account for 30 days. I doubt I have any luck getting the guy I bought it from to help me get it warrantied so I guess Im stuck with yet another Sprint POS.
Took the phone to a non corporate store and talked the tech into ordering me a replacement. We discussed that phone versus the Epic 4G Touch and he agreed with me that the Photon was a far superior device from an actual phone standpoint.
Nice you lucked out.

This is garbage if you have TEP there is no reason they shouldn't work on your phone...
Rule #1. Never tell sprint you bought a phone from Craigslist or any other place besides radio shack, target, bestbuy etc. I've purchased a **** ton of CL phones so i have experience lol. When you buy a CL phone you just call to activate it and if they ask just say you got it full price from best buy. They shouldn't really ask questions. Also, if your previous phone was insured it should transfer over without question. As far as getting a replacement, you need to create an elaborate story with details and make believe issues then they'll send you out a replacement lol. They like to "troubleshoot" first.

Yeah mine expires feb 17th this year. Not sure if I'm staying or switching. I've definitely never had an issue getting a replacement phone for one that I purchased from CL. I hope it works out for you!!
Hello,
With Sprint switching to LTE and the fact that there are Cities like Las Vegas where 3G Speeds have increased greatly has me leaning towards staying.
In truth, thanks to my EVO 3D fiasco, I have a 0 Dollar ETF so I could leave Sprint today without paying a dime. It is just after being with them for almost 13 years with a perfect Payment History really helps when it comes to getting credits, swaps, etc..
Also, I really think that the Photon is about as good as any Android Device out there. I do think the RAZR is rad and hope that Sprint gets something similar when the LTE Devices are released in June or so.
Cheers,
JJ
Sprints beefing up 3G and 4G. So for cities without LTE by mid 2012 3G updates should start rolling out. Of course their goal is to have LTE coverage everywhere by 2013. As much as sprint pisses me off they by far have the best plans for voice and data.
The coverage where I live is awful. Not to mention that Sprint has treated me like crap throughout this whole Epic 4G Touch ordeal. I seriously have almost become unemployed because of this phone and Ive gotten no sympathy from Sprint whatsoever.
I understand there are policies and stuff in place but when you have someone telling you "Look, this phone loses signal and you guys KNOW It loses signal and Ive already been written up twice at work because of this phone" youd think you'd get a little sympathy. All I got from Sprint was "Well, just reboot it when that happens" and told to go on my merry way.

Yep and I work in IT support so a lot of times, Im in server rooms all the time and those things are like standing in wind tunnels. Its hard enough to hear a phone ring in there when its working right. When it goes LoS, I have no way of knowing until I can get somewhere and pull the phone out of my pocket.
Its Samsung.. I got sucked back in and bought another one after I swore after the Nexus S I was done with them. But, I mistakenly thought "Well, theyve had this phone out overseas for 6 months, they have the bugs worked out of it." I guess I should have considered that overseas is GSM and that added a whole new wrinkle to the equation.

(Q) Airave and other problems.

So I had an airave take a dump on me. I called Sprint and got another one sent to me. I hooked the new one up and it wasn't connecting with the network. I called to troubleshoot and they said they'd send me another one. When I woke up in the morning everything was connected and working fine, so I sent back the old defective one and called to cancel the one they were going to send me. This was back in December and I thought everything was fine till about four weeks ago. Now they are trying to charge me $300 for not returning the one that is hooked up, working, and still in use. They have no record of the defective one being sent back. In so many words I told them they will have to suck the money from my cold dead limp penis. I'm about to drop a big chunk of change on three new phones and go pre paid if I can, otherwise I'll have to sign a contract with T-Mobile and still have to drop some cheese. I'm going to call the retentions department on Monday and see if I end up raging on Sprint for the last time. Just throwing it out there to see if anyone has any advice that I haven't thought of. Fyi ball of fire has been discussed, but not ruled out.
T.Y.I.A.
:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:
Wow lol.
Don't you have tracking info for the returned device? Why are they wanting you to pay $300 for the one that is hooked up? Were you paying the $5\mo charge before all of this happened? Had you paid the $99 for any of the devices at any point (the intiial fee some have to pay?)

I haven't ever been charged anything for the airave because it's been needed to be able to use their service.
It was months ago when I sent it back and don't even know where to begin with ups. At this point I don't even know which one they want money for. It was originally the one that was hooked up in my house until they found out I have it. Now they're wanting money for the one they say they haven't received. Should I file a claim with ups or would that not help at all since Sprint says there is no activity with the tracking number assigned to the return packaging. So if I dropped it off at ups and there hasn't been any activity connected with the tracking number one would think it's just sitting in the back room then.
Dude had the exact samething happen to me. I logged into sprint to pay my bill and noticed the hefty charge on there and called into customer service to see wtf. They told me the same that there was no record of the broken one being returned so they were going charge me. However, I *****ed and complained enuff that they did take the charge off my account.

Who did you talk to? What department? I'm calling retentions in the morning. Is that the department you went through? Did you have to talk about burning someone's house down or stuff about their mom? I've been dealing with this for months now and this is the last time I'm going to talk to them about this so I was wondering if there were and key words or phrases that I should use to optimize my results.
It was a person in billing. She told me that she would go ahead and remove the charge cause surely they had the old airave or it jus hadn't got updated in system yet. I guess I got lucky. I basically just *****ed how it wasn't my fault that they didn't receive it and I gave it to ups and had a receipt. Good luck man.and hope it works out for you.

On a positive note I won't be getting charged. Advice for everyone. Do not call customer service if you have problems! They know nothing and don't have authority to do anything. I'm calling retentions from now on if I have a problem. That number for anyone that cares to know is 855-848-3280. At least the guy I talked to know what's going on and how to fix it even if it was a round about way.

Note 3 AUDIO problem and Sprint's Response

So many Note 3 users are finding the actual phone to be unusable. There are cracking, distorting sounds when making phone calls. This was cited on some other Android websites so the issue is real.
Sprint acknowledged the issue on their own website forum. A "product ambassador" posted that Sprint and Samsung were aware of the problem and looking to solve it. Many people including myself asked if they could extend the return period since Sprint hasn't issued a statement on whether or not a software update will fix this issue. Sprint has not responded.
I checked Sprint's forum today and lo and behold the thread started by their OWN ambassador is now gone.
I feel that this is their way of hoping it quietly goes away.
In any case I kept a history of it because worst case scenario I will file a claim with my credit card company.
The credit card company will then fight the charges with Sprint. This is way better than me trying to get anything done with them.
Considering the charges for the two phones w/o activation fees were over $800, I'm sure my credit card company won't let it go without a fight.
Here is the link to prove that Sprint did indeed have a page up.

Can you please keep this thread updated with any new information you receive? I am having these sound problems as well and would definitely keep an eye on this if you would keep us informed. Thanks alot, have a good day.
EDIT** Just going to add a few links to other sites where people can see what others are saying

My Sprint rep called me today and told me his store was informed today of the issue and said that no sprint store is supposed to swap these phones out for the sound issue and that a fix is being worked on. Told him I think my battery is acting up, he told me I could come in and get a couple batteries from the returned notes tomorrow lol. So hopefully one of the few I grab will work better than this battery.

The coming fix better not be PRL 2000, like on the Sprint Note 2! (I don't know for sure if the issues are the same)

I remember seeing the Ambassador link on the Sprint website but never clicked on it to read their comments. The link you posted just go to a document not found page I believe. If you have a copy of the original ambassador post including the text can you re post it here so we can all see what the sprint ambassador had to say on this issue. Thanks! My phone sounded like crap on calls all day today and constantly I was asking people to repeat what they they said hoping the second time I could understand the garbled noise.

This garbled noise is no myth. I'm experiencing it big time with this phone and it's annoying the crap out of me!

I just got my Note 3 on Monday. It had call issues. It was so bad it was unusable. I called my company account rep and they sent me a new one on Tuesday. It has the same issue. I have a co worker that just bought the phone on his personal account. He said the more he used the phone the worse the issue became. He decided to tough it out. Sent one back today and still have one more to send back. I am hoping that they fix the problem. By the way I asked if the price changed by the time the problem was fixed would I be able to get the phone for the current price. I was told they cant really say. Thanks Sprint.
Since the deletion of the "product ambassador" statement I have noticed that the original Social Care Specialist Shannon_DE there have been no chatter from Sprint. Are they busy working or hoping we all go away.

Sprint took down the page.
However, notice that the same Ambassador just posted this today:
https://community.sprint.com/baw/co...ors-top-apps-for-your-samsung-galaxy-note-iii
It doesn't address any of the call issues that we're having and in fact, you can't even reply to the thread. I was going to write something along the lines of, "We know the phone is great, we want to know what's being done to resolve the issue."
In any case, it's the same ambassador and it's pretty upsetting that instead of responding to our concerns, they post some useless garbage like that.
I REALLY hope people are registering and posting on the Sprint forum. The louder we get about it, the better our chances at getting this resolved IMHO.

I am curious to why you ended up getting the phone when you said you skip this version? I ask because I know a few folks who are on the fence etc. They have different providers other than Sprint...

I was going to skip it because of the tri band issue...But seeing as how I had the original Evo and never got wimax in those two years I felt if I upgraded now i'd have an upgrade available sooner than later. In other words I don't think having a tri band phone will make much difference in the next year or so.

That was my feeling as well, however do you mind if I copy and paste the Sprint.com thread from earlier that was deleted?

nope...go for it. I'm hoping the word gets out on this so Sprint and Samsung feel some pressure. I'm going to post about it on the Sprint "review" on Amazon, Best Buy, etc
Just the fact that their ambassador had the audacity to post today about some nonsense while ignoring the real concerns screams, "screw the consumer." Notice on his thread on the Sprint forum that there is no option to reply...I wonder why that is.
note 3
I have the same problem...
Why does everyone think its a hardware issue? Its clearly a network issue, this has been proved numerous times in other threads. Bugs happen, Im sure it will be fixed soon.

I don't have this problem on my Note 2, my son's one or my wifes SIII. It could be a software issue? But there is an issue phone related.

I wonder what the root of the cause could be to trigger this into happening..I driver all over Florida from Jacksonville to Tampa to Melbourne to Miami.Ive talked to my wife for hours and never heard crackling or popping or any kind of robotic voice sound.Just the typical dropped call and can you hear me now moments between tower changes while driving.

Ive said in numerous posts that it must be software or network related, but until SPRINT verifies that we don't know for sure.
I had the S2 known as the Epic Touch on Sprint. It could never find your location off GPS and that was supposed to be an "easy fix" as well but it never came.
I had to literally reset the phone everytime I wanted to use the GPS.

Same here in Oklahoma. Got the phone on day of release and not once have I heard any crackling or poppling. Sound is nice and clear.
Wonder if there is a bad batch out there?
I'm using hardware version 900p.12 and no crackling or garbled audio. Just got it a few days ago.
