So my fiance and I both have a tb, we both checked for updates. However, his updated and mines said error, and it failed to update. Why?! I'm so tired of the reboot issue.

Seems you are completely stock, try rebooting and doing it again. If still not working you could download the OTA RUU and flash that. I believe the 3rd one from the bottom is the OTA you are looking for, someone correct me if I am wrong.

same thing but worse
I have my thunderbolt rooted but I don't have any rom's loaded. The update downloaded, but is now stuck in a off/on endless loop
anyway to stop it from trying to update? that way I could at least get my stuff backed up in titanium and wipe/load a rom?
It reboots to clockwork then says...
Finding update package....
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
I reboot system then it just starts all over again

There are countless posts/threads around here warning not to try to update a rooted phone with stock/OTA files.
Get a SD card reader/adapter, pull your microSD card out of the phone, and delete the PG05IMG.zip from it using your PC.

Hello friends,
Yesterday i rooted my phone following this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457622
Every step i have followed is successful .i.e. my phone is rooted.
However i am not able to install the OTA update after using the OTA rootkeeper and unrooting it temporarily. After the installation package gets downloaded, the OTA does not install..
Is there any way to get the OTA

I can assure you OTA rootkeeper is not at fault. You must have modified files on there that are making the update fail. Please share a log of what went wrong on the update, seeing as that would make your problem much easier to fix.

Installation Aborted
Hello all,
I am having trouble upgrading from 2.3.6 to ICS. I got an OTA notification for my Fido XT910 and when I tried to apply it, it told me that I did not have enough memory and to try performing a factory reset. After searching, I found that this was happening because my device was rooted. I removed root and tried again. Now, the update seems to work! It gets halfway through, then fails and reboots. I searched some more and found that something may be amiss in my file system.
So, I let the OTA upgrade download again, but this time I told it to "Install Later". I re-rooted my phone, copied the OTA file from my /cache folder to SD-EXT, unrooted, booted into recovery and finally tried to apply the update again. This time I found out what is preventing the upgrade from going through. It looks like it cannot find the file Videos.apk. Now, I don't know what this file is. I thought it might be Google Play Movies so I dumped into my /system/app/ folder as Videos.apk. No luck. I looked through the 2.3.6 upgrade file to find the Videos.apk file, but it only contained a binary update file (Videos.apk.p) and not the complete apk. I don't know what I can do to get the update to run successfully, without wiping!
Can anyone help me? Does anyone still have a Fido branded XT910 running 2.3.6 that they could extract the Videos.apk file from and send my way?
Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!
If it helps, here is the error message I get when applying the upgrade file:

Thanks again!
Anyone have any ideas? I really can't find anything like this by searching through the XDA or other forums. I'm so close to fixing this, I would hate to stumble on this final step. Thanks again!
I dont know, I am in the same boat as you.

I have temp unrooted with voodoo and same error.

What's the error you're getting? I've worked past several issues so far, so maybe I can help you. I'm just stuck on this latest one.

But after some research It appears I need to go back to stock ICS using the Droid Razr utility by matt. Then temp unroot with voodoo tool, flash the new update, then reroot with voodoo tool.

If im reading http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38877887#post38877887 correctly then the update that went out today is only for those who got the xmas update.
If thats the case we will have to find the original xmas update first, then flash todays update.

Right, and then we have to find the JB update that was released at xmas.

Pretty sure this is the JB xmas file
http://d-h.st/8l1
Yes, that is the correct file. It's for phones with the 211 ICS build. Also, Droid Life has the separate new JB file for phones on the 211 build, in case you want to install JB in one step.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
DHomas did you get it sorted?
Ive got it figured out and am now on JB. BAM.
Step1: First of all, you will need to use the droid razr utility to go back to ICS.
You can get this tool at http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/11872-droid-razr-utility-190-windows-mac-linux-all-in-one/
IMPORTANT. Make sure you install moto drivers, and rsd lite. Both included with this utility download.
Make sure phone has usb debugging mode enabled.
Make sure when plugging phone into computer you disable mass storage mode.
Step2: Once on ics use the utility to also root again.
Step3: Once rooted, install voodoo and create a root backup.
Step4a: Put this file on your external SD card.
Droid life actually has the whole new file. So no need to flash xmas leak.
You can get it here - http://www.mediafire.com/?5ca5825kzojfv49
Step4b: Boot into recovery and install from sd. Choose the above linked file. Let it do its thing.
Enjoy.

Just a warning, after doing this even though the utility indicated root was done, and after JB installed voodoo is showing root but when trying to update the SU app it says FAIL when trying to gain root access.
Luckily root can be gained in JB using this http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/6935-rootwindows-razr-blade-droid-razr-41-jb-root-exploit/
I've got a rooted Verizon Razr Maxx that has received the OTA 98.72.16 update. It downloads, prompts me to install, gets 1/3rd of the way through then shows the update failed symbol (Android with red warning triangle).
It'll then restart and prompt me to redownload the update.
What is going wrong here? I've been through this cycle 3 times and I just want it to stick.
Been through the same exact thing. I had to back up all my data with TiBu, flash a bonestock ICS, then update, then restore data. I had to have help doing it and i didnt completly understand most of the things i was doing so i cant really help you but you might try installing the update from a external SD to see what error you get
OTA 98.72.16 update
Any advice out there on successfully completing the OTA update package from Motorola/verizon? I keep getting an update unsuccessful. Not sure I want work around it with factory reset and then going back and forth with data. The description of the benefits of the update are vague... not sure I need it that bad. Anyone have any inside scoop, advice or knowledge on this?

Did ya unroot or protect ya root from voddo root keeper . If not then try to do that it may help ya
Thx
Hit the thx button if i helped ya in anyways
its still not working for me, actually i cant get the razr utility to do anything... so i cant flash the stock version, any ideas on getting that working?
You must not have any modifications on your phone. No root (but you can protect root with OTA Root Keeper), no changed or deleted system apps, no changed baseband, kernel etc.
Do you have any of that mods?
I rooted using the utility, the main reason was to get rid of the bloatware, so no different roms or anything of that nature, I tried different booting options and running it and no luck, I am trying to unroot by rerooting with a different program, that will rewrite over the utility root that comes with a full unroot option. so far so good, unrooted and waiting while the ota downloads to install, wish me luck

If you got rid of bloatware apps that are put there by Verizon, then that is your problem. All of those bloatware apps need to be there and unfrozen for the update to take.
After fully unrooting i have had no luck i just tried installing from recovery and recieved the same errot message as the previous entry did. Goimgbto try to install one more time and then try reflashing the stock with the utility
I had to reset my RAZR to stock with Matt Groff's droidrazrutility to get the update to install. Be sure to backup your apps and data.
you may have some frozen apps or deleted apps
try to defrost them or reflash the rom

If you have twrp installed can you make a backup after the update for us? Don't need the data backup just system, boot, etc. That would help a lot of people with the CC version. An updated factory image is rare for these.
I dont see either. Wierd
I am helping a friend revive his tablet, and I thought I had this figured out, but cannot get it to work. I am trying to use ADB to sideload an OTA package to the tablet. When I run the sideload command, on the PC the progress just immediately stops at 0%. On the tablet, I see the following...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
verifying update package...
E: footer is wrong
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted
The devices bootloader is locked, and since you cannot get to the operating system, there is no way to set the OEM unlock. I read somewhere that using the "Apply update from ADB" on the tablets recovery utility did not require the bootloader to be unlocked, but maybe that is not correct. I am pretty sure I have downloaded the correct OTA package for the tablet.
More info:
On the top of the tablets screen in the recovery menu it shows:
google/volantis/flounder
6.0.1/MOB30G/2723637
Apparently this happened while he was running an OTA update. Any help would be appreciated!!
Try following this step by step
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/ota
If it doesn't work try as many cords and computers as possible.
I would also try downloading the ota again. It could be a corrupt download.
