Does anyone know if our EVO 3D has built in ANT+ support? This is generally used for external fitness devices like a Heart Rate Monitor.
I looked at the FCC info, but I couldn't really decipher if it has it. I know that TI WiLink 6.0 and 7.0 chips have built in ANT+ support.
I think it is doubtful, since I found a TI blog post on June 30, 2011 talking about the exciting world of 3D phones...then talking about the LG Optimus 3D
Thanks.
looks like i'm answering my own post. here's the 2.4ghz chip in the 3d:

looks like it does NOT support it *tearz*

Anyone know what graphic capabilities of the Hero? Does it utilize the necessary drivers, etc? HTC has been known to use chips but not utilize drivers.. just wondering if this 7201a chip or whatever it is is actually any good or not.
What are you expecting? The hardware is kinda the same as the Dream and the Magic. Expect that.
Animations will be smooth, but any 3d-support for games I have no idea.
The chip supports some sort of OpenGL-ES 1.1 I believe, but I'm new to android so I have no idea if Android even supports that, let alone if there are any applications available that will use it (besides that Quake1 demo Google demo'd when they first announced Android).
Does anyone know whether the Atrix will have the Ant+ ability? That would be awesome to work in my training regime

Looks like no. All the industry firsts were with Sony/Ericsson.
I actually read that the Droid X uses texas instruments WiLink 6.0 which supports ANT+ protocol.
Strange not to take advantage of it since it's already there! So I'm really asking whether anyone knows if Atrix is equipped with WiLink 6.0 or later.
Peace
Adam
Seems like a no here, according to ifixit site the atrix does not use the WiLink but instead uses a Broadcom solution for Bluetooth and Wifi. Based on what I can see, none of broadcom's solutions support ANT+.
However, there may still be light at the end of the tunnel. See this:
Ok, I'm not allowed to post links, google "spectec sda-323"
I have read that the bluetooth stack is not same as og evo. I am curious if anyone had info on this. If it its true it might and I stress might allow us to use bt devices such as wii or ps3 controllers. Now with full hdmi mirroring this could make for the ultimate gaming phone for those into emulation. What are ur thoughts?

Sheer joy, if it's true.
Any knowledge or opinions would be much appreciated.

i use a wiimote on my evo4g now. Just have to run an AOSP rom not SENSE.
I love the idea of emulating from my phone like I do now, playing Final Fantasy 3/6, 7, Tactics with a wiimote is already epic on the phone, couldn't imagine on a huge TV so easily now too. I ned a tv worth it though.
I have not found any custom roms I trust enough to void my warranty for. I have ran cm6 and cm7 and I did like them but as many phones as I have went through especially my hero last year ill stick with stock sense and hope evo 3d will allow such bt devices such as wii or ps3 remotes to work

what does the thread title and the OP have to do with each other?
The Evo 4G supports bluetooth profiles like A2DP for wireless stereo headsets, and FTP and OPP (object push) for file transfers. But when it comes to connecting an interface device, it does not support bluetooth HID (human interface device) profiles. It only supports SPP (serial port protocal).
Which is why things like the MSI BGP100, and the FreedomPro Keyboard work with it. Both of these devices use SPP bluetooth profiles. Drivers were created and released in the market, and a stock Evo 4G can connect to these.
Everyone blamed the HTC Sense interface for why we couldn't connect HID devices, (Wii Mote, and several keyboards, mice, etc). Which is why the OP mentions Sense 3D, because he still thinks it was sense that did it. It wasn't actually Sense that did it. HTC just never built bluetooth HID profiles into the phone.
AOSP roms don't have sense, but they are also built from ground 0, so they have HID profiles built into them. A lot of people have mistakenly thought that it was taking Sense completely out, that brought bluetooth HID back in, but it was really just coincidence.
For example, iPhones don't come with HID profiles, but someone in Cydia released an app that alters the bluetooth stack for you, and adds additional profiles. Theoretically, someone could have done this for the Evo 4G, but no one has yet.
That being said, I have seen several sites, including HTC's own, showing bluetooth HID under the specs for the Evo 3D. This isn't something I was ever able to find for the Evo 4G.
Don't quote me on it, but I am banking on all the WiiMote apps, bluetooth keyboard apps, and any other bluetooth input device, working properly with the Evo 3D right out of the box.
Thank you bradley. that is exactly what I was curious about. u answered my question and educated me at same time. that was much appreciated.

No problem. If you get a chance, hit my thanks button.
There was some speculation after the initial announcement that the evo 3d's bluetooth stack would support bluetooth hid and hence wiimotes. I looked at htc's site and don't see hid support mentioned. This is very important to me especially in the light that we may not be able to put cm7, which has a fully functional bluetooth stack, on the evo 3d.
Is there any way to tell from any of the system dumps if the evo 3d supports hid?
Anyone comment? I had originally seen something showing it did have it, on HTC's own site, but it has since been taken down.
It's a dealbreaker for me.
Who knows if this site has their facts straight, but it's shown here with BT HID. http://www.phonerated.com/cell-phone.php?phone=htc+evo+3d
I wonder what the problem is!?
Is this fixable by going AOSP route?
Or Honeycomb?
Or do we have to wait for icecream sandwich... it's just sad what a downgrade in usability features e3d is from the evo og.

The og evo didn't support wiimotes out of the box either. Wiimotes would work on cm6/7 and possibly other aosp roms as well. Htc is still using a crippled bluetooth stack on the evo 3d. Once cm7 is released for the 3d I'm sure it will support wiimotes though.

HTC BlueZ bluetooth stack won't even work with cars that have BT 2.x, ie, all cars older than 2010.
I'm an aspiring application developer that is focusing mostly on general applications
with social integration and games that make use of offloaded servers for stats tracking and processing.
And for the ones that did not get that, I make android apps and games, yay!
Now for the actual question, looking at these new devices that will make use of quad-core chips,
but won't really help me much since I need to look at mass market,
and then devices that are proven, devices that sport dual-core chips with good ample memory.
I am looking at purchasing another device to add to my testing bench.
I currently sport:
Motorola Xoom Wifi 32gb [ running EOS3 nightly - JB branch ]
HTC Sensation 4G [ running JB from bruce2728's repo ]
Samsung Galaxy Tab [ original 7' running JB from cdesai ]
What am looking for is a device that sports all or most if possible hardware that an
Android Application developer should have in its arsenal;
NFC, Google Wallet, Multi-color LED, Accelerometer, Gyro, Barometer,
Compass, Light Sensors, Proximity Sensors, and any other things that we take for granted
like Wifi and Bluetooth.
So, looking at the current crop of devices, and future possible devices,
does it make sense to purchase a Galaxy Nexus, go for a Galaxy S3 or wait for the next surge of devices?
A Nexus M perhaps? Or is there a device that you guys would recommend other than those mentioned?
On another note, my budget is from $300 to $500-ish, and I prefer to go with a no contract devices, oh, and I hate Verizon.
I appreciate all input, good, bad or ugly.
Thank you for your time.
