[Q] Auto screen rotation not working after game freeze - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
Its my first post here, and my first android phone, and already i have a annoying problem.
I have searched these forums and many others but didnt find any similar problem or solution for it so here it is:
I bought Samsung Galaxy S2 15 days ago, from the local mobile service provider with contract. It runs OS Gingerbread 2.3.3 (adjusted to my mobile service provider settings), not rooted, under warranty.
Ive downloaded and installed many apps. Among them some free games from android market - demos, lite, free.
Sometimes, while i play, not often, game freezes. When it does only thing that is lest working is sound, and home button. Than i go to home screen, kill the game via android task manager, and than i see that screen auto rotation isnt working. Its stuck in landscape mode mostly, or portrait, even the auto rotation option is on. If it is in landscape mode, when i uncheck auto rotation then it goes to portrait mode. If i try some other game that supports sensor controls, like driving (accelerometer?).... u know...... when u tilt the phone to turn right or left......... and its not working.
Ive discovered 2 possible temporary solutions for the problem:
1. Turn off and on the phone, and its back to normal;
2. Wait for a 10 min or so, and its back to normal by itself;
I have one year warranty and i took the phone to service where they assumed that it is a software problem and flashed OS (ive recorded the behaviour of the phone with camera and showed to the service guy).
Ive got the phone back after a day with flashed OS. On a fresh instal of OS ive installed just one app, one game that it tends to freeze and cause problem - "Cordy" free trial. After just 20 sec of playing problem occurred again. It happened just that one time in last two days.
Any opinion on this matter is most welcome.
Tnx in advance.

If the phone is stuck then Restarting it is the option, not a temporary one. Now what's causing the freeze? I don't know.
Regards.

Tnx for answering. Im a bit disappointed with lack of answers because it just saying that my problem is not something common and with easy solution.
Im saying that restarting the phone is a temporary solution because i want find one that will prevent the problem for happening at all. Game freeze and accelerometer not working r connected in this case

It happened just now.
After that I checked in the app called sensor test that i instaled ffrom android market, and also that testing menu typing *#0*#.
in both cases it shows that acceleration sensor is not working. It came to normal by itself after 5 min or so.
What do u think? Software or hardware problem?

OK, update.
Its not caused just by the games, it happens even when not using any apps.
Accelerometer, orientation sensor and magnetic field sensor just stop working for a 5-10 min. Dont know whats causing this.
Tommorow is going back to service and im afraid that guys there r clueless.
Anyone have some suggestion pls.

Update on a problem.
My friend bought same phone from same service provider 3 days after i did and he is having exactly same problem.
He didnt had time before to test it but we did it yesterday, and after a hour of so trying to reproduce problem we succeded.
My phone is at service and i called today and the service guy said that the work on my phone is completed, they replaced sensors part (which apparanty comes with touch screen).
Im picking it up tommorow and i will test it and see if the problem is solved. But, im pesimistic.
How likely is that me and my friend have same hardware problem?
Here it is on video. Pls watch it and give any kind of oppinion, im getting desperate.

Irratic S2 - Voice Talk App Launching by itself

Ok first ever post, I seek answers !!!
My S2 has started doing some very odd things -
1st it started returning to the clock desktop screen when pressing the home button instead of returning to the proper home screen, now its randomly launching into the Voice talk app screen by itself ?? I have tried a full reset and removed all non standard apps and this hasnt solved the problem.
Battery Drain is full to 0 in about 3 hours with limited use and if I turn it off it actually turns itself back on by itself !
Any ideas, Im assuming its ****** !
Great phone up until this point !
mine starts the voice command by itself too. its irritating at times. Also i have noticed that my battery drains faster than usual. Not sure why its causing
mine has bee launching that damned voice talk thing, too. it normally happens when i preas the home button, and it drives me nuts hecause it even talks aloud when i expect the phone to be silent. (where's the freaking global mute??)
Well if you press the Home button twice then Voice Talk will start. To reduce battery drainage, go to settings, Un-check Use location and Wake Up command. And disable Car mode when not needed,
Sorry, I forgot to edit my post (was going to before i got distracted by other tasks), but I meant to take out the "when I press the home button" part since it was redundant. What I meant was that it happens when I press it just once. I understand that double press launches it, it's why it annoys so much when it launches with just one press.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
did you guys ever get a fix for this? cause i get this aswell.. and it's driving me ****ing nuts!!! running KG6
u could try force closing in running apps inside settings/applications/running apps?? i get the same ocasionally and that method seems to work for me?
Have Same problem
I have the same problem as you, my voice talk app is launching very often by it self for me 2. I tried to reset my phone to factory settings but didn't work, and my battery is only lasting for max 12hours+-, depends on my use.
Can se in the battery usage that my phone OS is using 96% battery and screen is using 2% an 2% for something else.(don't remember because im offshore and can't use mobile phone here) normaly the Android OS should use less more than 96%
This is very fustrating!! do annyone know what to do here?? probably root the phone an delete the Voice Talk App ??? or can there be some problem with the phone electronics that makes the phone act this strange??
Hope someone finds this out!!
I love this phone but this is making me crazy!! hehe
Voice talk starting can't turn off solved!!!!!
Was driving me nuts but finally found how to turn off the annoying voice talk by F*****G VERLINGO. Go to Settings, Motion then turn off double tap it has worked for me thank F**K.
My question is... why did all our phones started having the same problem at the same time... I've turned off double tap and it seems to have worked for me too, but that is not a definitive solution, cause it was allways turned on and there were no prob before. My problem started about 3months after i upgraded my phone to ICS.

Was any solution found for this problem? My S2 is not only launching tap and speak, but playing music, putting itself in to car mode, re-booting itself. Battery draining extra quick and taking all day to re-charge. It's posessed.

[Q] Galaxy S3 getting stuck in sleep mode / Locked.

I'm currently having this issue and it's really frustrating, I had it first on the Galaxy S3 with 4.2.1 stock rom, I don't know if it might be an app that might be causing this, basically when i lock the phone the screen turns off but then when i press the power button or the home button to turn on the screen it does not do anything, I know the phone is still on because sometimes if i get a text message i can see the blue led blinking and it will continue to blink even when it's frozen.
The only way to bring it back is by holding the power and home button together in order to reset it.
I tried factory reset and it would not work, I flashed the phone with a custom rom for Paranoid Android 4.3 and it worked great for about a week, no issues at all, but then it started freezing when locked again. I hate this and i'm thinking it might be a hardware issue since I've tried different software versions.
I don't know if it might be an app that might be causing this, basically when i lock the phone the screen turns of but then when i press the power button or the home button to turn on the screen it does not do anything, I know the phone is still on because sometimes if i get a text message i can see the blue led blinking and it will continue to blink even when it's frozen.
Even worst, if i'm listening to music and i lock the phone or if the screen times out and locks when i try to unlock it i can see it's stuck but the music is still playing....
Also, if the phone is stuck and i try to call it, it will not ring not turn the screen on, it's not like the problem is just the physical buttons, i don't know what to do since the phone is out of warranty, I have never dropped the phone and there is no damage on it, it have never over heat either so i don't know what can i do.....
Any suggestions or help would be really appreciated.

Thank you for the reply, do you know specifically what kind of hardware problem was it? Were you able to fix it or you just had it replaced?

But it's really strange, It is a hardware issue and it should affect all the time, not randomly i would think... I don't know if the problem is with the processor or the buttons, i don't know how to determine that..

The first week with Paranoid Android 4.3 it worked greatm even faster than the stock rom and I also liked it because it is android 4.3, the issue started one week after, and i'm thinking that during the first week i did not install all the apps i use, once i installed all the apps it started happening.
The first time i had the issue was right after the facebook messenger app was updated, i tried uninstalling it and the issue was still happening, if i check the running apps and i can see several of my apps running in the background such as Facebook messenger, Viber, Skype, Avast (6 services) Applock, GO weather EX, whatsapp, Facebook.
Maybe i'm just reluctant to think that this is a hardware issue, cause there is no way for me to get some logs or a hardware report that may show any crashes or anything.. I like this phone, it have everything i need and i refuse to think that it's a piece of crab but i've had nothing but troubles with it since day 1...
I dont think it is SW problem because even flashing multi package stock firmware doesn't fix the issue.I tried replacing lcd and display driver but still remain unsolved.
Edit:I think there is a defective sensor chip which I don't have a unit to test already.
hello, i have same issue, and stil stuck with it, anyone can help me?

auto-rotation broke

Anyone else having problems with auto-rotate on the Nexus 9? I am sure it worked, briefly, while I was setting up the tablet for the first time, but after installing a few apps (netflix, dropbox, adobe reader) and configed various email accounts and such, it stopped working. The tablet display is permanently in portrait mode, although if I play a movie in netflix it will force it to switch to to landscape whereupon it will be permanently stuck in landscape until the next shutdown and restart.
I've checked the setting on the drop down- auto-rotate is certainly enabled. I have tried disabled and re-enabling it, no difference.
I've downloaded a ball-in-labyrinth game, and I think that has indicated the issue- the sensors seem to be completely broken, no matter how I rotate the tablet the game thinks I have it in the same position and the ball just sits stuck in the upper corner of the game board.
I tried a full system restore, no difference.
I guess the next step is to call up google and go for an exchange.

Im having exactly the same issue. Except mine never worked. I would love to find out what really is the issue. I installed some sensor software and hardware seems to be the problem
Same issue here. Auto-rotation does not work.
If I want landscape mode, I have to launch a game, and then get back to the home screen...
5 minutes with the tablet and already I feel I have to exchange it.
Sensors are not working. Maybe this is a big issue for HTC. Maybe they got a bad batch from a provider.

Same problem, I solved by turning off the geolocation that seems to alter the accelerometer ... Hopefully the problem is software ... I wait for the OTA on November 12 before replacing
Same here, auto rotate does work when its wants to. Usually after reboot but gets stuck in either portrait of landscape and then is in that view mode forever more or until you reboot again
Will wait for Nov 12th update, hopefully will fix the notification light issue too

We hope to resolve, or that settling and clearing the various logs '' unlock the sensor''
Root of the problem
I also have this problem. Got N9 on preorder only for it to arrive yesterday in New Zealand. Shortly after setting up the device rotation stopped working. After searching the web I came across this.... "besttopics.net/link/185987_q-nexus-9-bug-screen-rotation" (sorry not able to post links).
It turns out that when ever the GPS radio fires up it shuts down the other sensors. Turn GPS off and rotation works fine. If its stuck you can turn the GPS off and reboot the device and things are back to normal.
This sounds like a hardware issue to me but will see what HTC say.
I have the Problem since yesterday . I activated Google now yesterday ,so this was my first guess. I just deactivated Google now and rebooted the device. It looks like that fixed it. Screen rotation works again!
Hope this helps.
Deactivating Google Now fixed mine too.
Count me in. It happened to me, twice. First time it happened, nothing seemed to help. Restarting didnt`t help. Shaking didn`t, either. So I installed a sensor monitoring app and it told me, there were no data at all from the rotation sensor. Two days later everything changed to normal behaviour, just like so. It started after watching a Netflix movie, btw.
The second time I could reactivate the sensor by starting an app called Bamboo Paper. This forced my Nexus 9 to go from landscape mode to portrait mode. And rotation worked fine since then.
So, at first glance, it seems to be a hardware problem. But then again, some apps seem to be able to trigger the `faulty` sensor. Thus, it might as well be a problem on the software side.
Let`s hope it will be solved by a future Lollipop update.
All the best from Germany,
knallgrau
It has happened again. And nothing seems to help. The Bamboo Paper app `trick` must have been just a coincidence.
I`ll call the Play Store tomorrow to have my Nexus 9 replaced.
Is anyone still having this problem after updating to 5.0.1?
Problem persists after update for me. I'll be returning soon for a number of build quality related issues.

The "shut-down-on-low-battery-when-battery-is-not-low-issue" has been almost resolved for me with the update to 5.0.1. But the rotation issue still persists. I have contacted the Play Store and immediately received an RMA. It seems to be a known issue with these htc devices. I hope the new unit does not show any of these problems.
Cheers,
knallgrau
Not sure what happened, but I tried to show someone the problem today and it was not a problem. I turned on Google Now and Location and it's working fine. Rotates without issue, for now. I'm sure that as soon as I hit the Post button, it will come back.
EDIT: I was right. It is back.
Yeah, I've found that turning Google Now on breaks screen rotation. After it breaks, I have to disable Google Now and Location Services, then reboot to get rotation working again. This has to be a glitch with 5.0.1, because this issue didn't exist for me on 5.0. Hopefully Google fixes this with the next update. I'm rather fond of Google Now, and not being able to use location services kind of hamstrings the device.

I know this is an old post but I have been having the same problems with auto rotation of the screen not working. I factory reset my device, auto rotation worked, and did a restore of the apps and it happened again. I then started over (factory reset) and reinstalled one google app at a time. I think I found the problem to be the Google Camera app. As soon as I installed it, the auto rotation stopped working (I could tell because when I went to the video setting on the Google camera app, it would not rotate to Landscape.). I uninstalled the Google camera update, force stopped the app, and disabled it. Now I have no problems with auto rotation of my screen. Also, noticed that the area around the camera would get quite hot after the Google camera app updated. Google needs to fix this for the N9!

Follow the steps I mention here, and see if it fixes it. If so, please star / +1 this issue, as I believe the issue is related to Google Play Services. I know this is not a fix as it renders all Google apps useless, but if we can get Google to address this, then THAT will fix the issue.
I too noticed the excessive heat, which would ALSO occur immediately after enabling Google Play Services - however HTC devices for some reason do heat up very quickly when using the camera (The One M7, M8 and M9 all have this issue, though a recent update for the M9 makes it less noticeable)

Have you had any success with getting this issue fixed? I duplicated your steps and had the same result.
I was able to fix my N9 by installing Android M. Google Play Services does not break auto rotate and my tablet works perfectly! If you are running Android 5.1.1, Google Play Services breaks auto-rotate. Google never fixed this for some reason. I suspect because they were focused on Android M. Make the change, you will be glad you did!

Screen turning on repeatedly

Hey everyone!
I picked up a Gear S about a week ago and until today, I've had no problems. I took the watch off charge this morning and everything was working as fine, used some apps etc, no issues. Then I checked my phone for updates and saw that the Gear Manager app had an update and I installed it. Since then, the screen on my Gear S has been constantly turning on and off. It will turn for about 9 seconds, then switch off and back on 2 seconds later. Turning the screen on manually works but everything is pretty much frozen. I can periodically get as far as the pedometer (because there's an icon for it on the home screen) or to the Apps menu but no further and then the screen will switch itself off.
I'm not sure whether an update to the Gear Manager app should affect the watch itself but I know that when I wiped my phone a few days ago and went to set up the Manager again, it factory reset the watch so I assume there is a direct connection between the software. I've tried disabling both Bluetooth and the remote connection to check if Gear Manager is causing the screen to behave strangely but it's still turning on and off. It's impossible to do a soft reset through the Gear S itself as the screen switches off before I can get to settings and I've tried doing a hard reset but nothing works.
I tried searching on Google for anyone having similar issues and the only thread I can find was posted on Android Central (yesterday I think) with a few people saying that they're having the same problem which makes me thing that the update to Gear Manager is the issue.
Edit: The only screen that doesn't seem to be affected is the PIN lock screen. Screen switches off there as normal and does not come back on.
Edit 2: I've never reset the Gear S before (and I only noticed the factory reset mentioned above after it was finished) but when I attempt to do a hard reset, the watch just reboots as normal without anything happening and all info / data is still there. I presume this really shouldn't be the case?
UPDATE: I'm an idiot / Samsung's instructions on how to do a hard reset are awful.
I decided to Google how to do a hard reset and discovered that when in the Recovery Menu, you need to hold down the Power button to choose an option (Samsung's instructions just tell you to press the Power button until you highlight what you want and I assumed it would automatically choose that after a few seconds because the phone would restart for me). Watch is now factory reset and so far the screen issue appears to be resolved. Another four hours of transferring music it is then.
@BOZG can you post a link to that thread?
I have the Same problem. Sometimes changing a clock face or installing/uninstalling a program seems to make it stop. I have yet to find a good consistent solution. Restarts etc. don't help. Hard reset will fix it but last time I just changed settings on and off and powered the phone on and off and eventually it stopped.
It seems related to when the phone is connected remotely over a cell network. I have the AT&T unlocked with a T-Mobile regular line, not the wearable line since I have a 5 for $100 business plan and the 5th line was not being used. Doubt that makes a difference though.
Followup:
Just now I had the watch off and charged to 100%. Powered up with phone off. Same issue. Watch face loads, the hands change to the current time, then it slides down the screen and looks like a reload because when it comes back up the time isn't correct. The hands reset to the right time. This happens a few times. I power the phone up. Bluetooth connects. I open the gear manager on the phone and it stops.
Will try to repost if that's repeatable. I hope they fix it because it burns quite a bit of battery when it happens. It gets warm so it's running the CPU a lot whatever it is.

samsung gear s screen on and off..looping
There you go. Not much to read there though as it's just me and OP. The problem re-emerged for me after a few days again so I was forced to do another hard reset to actually use the watch. I noticed it when I woke up in the morning and noticed that another update had been pushed to the Gear app. That's twice now that this has happened shortly or immediately after the Gear app was updated.
I haven't been able to uninstall an app / change clock face to see if it works as the watch is completely unusable when it happens to me. The Gear app registers that it's connected but it's impossible to change anything from there either and if I turn the watch off and back on again, the Gear app will no longer connect.

Not sure if I've actually tried letting the battery drain. I'll try that the next time it happens (if it happens).
I had the same problem after the update, a reboot didn't solve the problem. Eventually the battery drained. After a recharge most is fine but I never know which watch face will suddenly appear.
Same issue again. Didn't see the Gear app updating but there was an update released the day before. Going to switch off auto-updates and see if it definitely the problem. Just seems too coincidental that this problem starts right after an update is released for the Gear App.

Started doing it again yesterday so let the battery die and charged it fully and it didn't help. Left it on the box overnight and brought it to a Samsung Service Centre this morning and of course it was working again when I took it out of the box! Left it with them anyway so I'll see what happens.
I've had my Gear S a few weeks and it has also started doing this, I will give some of the suggestions here a go.....
EDIT: So opening the Gear Manager App once Bluetooth was connected brought my Gear S back to life. Phew!
It's only entered this state after I turned it off at night and then turned it back on in the morning - so it had been off roughly 8 hours. Upon turning it on the screen would cycle from the right time and notification numbers and the wrong time and wrong notification numbers too off again.
@ BOZG - Just wondering if you got your S back yet and if so, were they able to tell you what was causing this on/off problem. Mine just started doing it yesterday.
Also, how did you find the "Samsung Service Centre"?
holding the screen seems to cause it...
Had to send mine to Samsung for a new charging cradle and they updated the software to latest, when i got it back it seemed fine. Then i was messing about with it and was holding the screen to my chest for a while and that seemed to cause it to happen. It seems to be the screens gets too much activation and it flips out. I think this is what started the problem last time it happened.1
Switching to power saving mode seems to fix it for me... have to wait until it gets low on battery and when the low bat warning comes on, switch then... leave for a bit then switch back to normal.
I called Samsung Thursday and they sent me a UPS label and told me to send the watch, charging cradle and AC charging cord back in for service. She told me it takes about 7-14 days. We shall see.
Happy to have found this. </rant>I'm starting to get enough of this Samsung stuff. I had the note 2 and now I have the note 4 and gear S. That is mote then 1000 euro of equipment. And today when I tried the restore to fix this, both the phone and the watch rebooted. Crazy that they can not build good software and hardware for this price. </rant>
To me it seems that is freezes somehow when this happens. It kept jumping back to 22:10 time and changed to the watch-face and settings keep rolling back. It seems to happen to me, when the watch is off for some hours. The samsung way... no update to fix this.
solved for me
hi first of all sorry if i do any mistakes because English is not my language
i had similar problem and i found the solution at least in my case . THE PROBLEM IS NOT WITH THE GEAR S
all was ok using 4.4.2 kitkat on my note 3 before few months i upgrade with lollipop 5 official from sammobile via odin
from that moment the problems begin with the reconnection of the gear with the note
long time to connect and no auto reconnection only manual by turning off-on the bluetooth
i was boring to do format to the note3 so i left it as it
few weeks ago probably of gear manager update the gear start freezing and the screen turning on and off
first i do a factory reset and the gear was ok for a while but after it do the same but the next time the screen was not ok the colors was different so i send to service in Athens
the service in Athens is very fast and very helpful , is one of the reasons that i will difficult go with other manufacture , so they return me the gear saying that they change the motherboard and now there is new imei
but the gear that they send me was brand new except the band and the box. BUT after some time the same problem ..... i call them and they tell me to send it back so i send it and i receive it again but this time the say that the watch is ok
GUESS NOW .... i turn it on and after a while of the connection with my note AGAIN the same problem the screen on and off and freezing plus was overheat underneath
i was ready to call them and to say few words but they was closed ..... then i search the net and i found this post and i thing probably is not the gear the problem ,no hardware problem, i decide to do a test
i download the last working rom to my phone 4.4.2 and magically the problem disappears .... but now there is a software update on my phone lollipop 5 so i do the update and i was ready if the phone cause again the same problem
to return and stay with 4.4.2 But now all is ok the problem solved .... now is more of 24h and all are ok
i hope this will work for you also
Same problem
I have the same issue exactly - Note 4 with latest lollipop upgrade - it is very frustrating......I don't particularly want to have to move back an OS just to use the watch !

Ok but doing a downgrade and all working ok you can do update again.... i am not with 4.4.2 i went to the latest 5.0 for me now and all are ok.
Maybe something was wrong with the update procedure.
UPDATE
the touch function of the 2nd gear stop working so i send it back and they send me new device
for a few days all was ok . But today when i restart the phone while the gear was disconnected the problem with screen turning on repeatedly appears again .
for sure is not problem of the gear , this is the 3rd device in my hands, something is wrong with the gear manager software .
i have also reconnection problems .... if the phone is far away and they lost Bluetooth connection the most of the times i must reconnect manually , the gear say disconnected but the note think is still connected
I wonder has anyone tried to reset the watch as a stand alone device and see if the problem happens? I know you might lose a lot of the blue tooth functionality but I think I will test it and see if the problem still happens.

Sensors stop working on Lenovo Yoga Book

Hi,
sorry for posting here without being a developer myself. It seems like nobody on the other boards knows enough about android to be able to help me with this particular problem - which is the most strangest problem with electronic devices I have experienced so far:
The tends to "loose" sensors after a while. This mostly happens when in sleep mode, but can also happen during charging, sometimes after half a day, sometimes after a few seconds. The following sensors are affected: Accelerometer (including auto rotation), light, magnetic field, orientation and GPS. The sound and battery sensors keep going.
Now, while this is very annoying, it is not really strange. The strange part is the following: Two times I thought to have found the problem and get it back working normally, only to learn better 2 days later:
1) when I uninstalled the Dolphin browser - which never really worked on this device - the problem disappeared for more than a day and I thought it solved. Alas, it returned about two days later. So, Dolphin may have been a cause, but something new jumped into its place after 2 days.
2) at some point, I decided to uninstall Smart Launcher 3, which I had installed right at the start. E voilĂ : problem gone, the sensors worked perfectly without a single glitch for 2 days. So Smart Launcher must have been the culprit, right? -> wrong! Two days later the problem reappeared, worse than ever! All it takes now is putting the tablet to sleep for ~ 1 minute and the sensors are gone. If I want to use the sensors, I have to either prevent the sleep mode or restart the tablet whenever I want to use it.
So far, I haven't found another solution to make it work for 2 days (or even longer than a couple of minutes). But anyway, it doesn't make any sense. Why would uninstalling an app make the problem disappear, but only for 2 days? Then the same story again, when uninstalling another app?
Any kind of hint or suggestion is greatly appreciated, I am desperate and have no more ideas what else to try. All pleasure in the device is gone, it's just frustrating.
Thank you a 7'200 times (seconds in 2 hours)!

It just got more weird. I figured out, that enabling the power save mode caused the tablet to work somewhat normally, meaning sensors would still work after sleeping most of the time.
But guess what: 3 days later even that workaround doesn't work anymore. Restarting the tablet brings the sensors back, but switching the screen off (sleep mode) for 5 seconds is enough to disrupt them, always. This doesn't make any sense at all. Why does the device always find a way to counteract my workarounds after 2-3 days? Is the thing alive and doing it on purpose? It starts to drive me really mad :crying:
Please, does anybody have an idea? I am looking for
ways to restart the sensors without having to reboot the tablet. There must be some service to kill and restart, right?
ways to identify the cause of the problem. There must be some kind of event log where the sensor crash and what happened before is recorded.
I am sure somebody must know about those things, at least in this forum. Otherwise I don't know what to do, I run out of workarounds, the evil device wins this battle and will soon target the world - welcome Skynet.
Thanks very much for any kind of help

edit: I noticed that when the problem occurs, it takes the tablet longer to wake up than the few times when everything is fine. This indicates that there is something going wrong with the wake up process. It must be possible to see in some kind of log what exactly happens, but my sparse knowledge of android isn't deep enough. I already tried OS monitor to access the catlog and I do see some warnings (pink W), but they don't tell me much. E.g.: OpenGLRenderer: Failed to choose config with EGL_SWAP_BEHAVIOR_PRESERVED, retrying without. Or: Syste: ClassLoader referenced unknown path: /mnt/expand/.../com.eolwral.osmonitor... (which rather sounds like a problem of OS monitor itself than a problem of the system).
i installed termux... ran top... i see a /system/vendor/bin/sensorhubd
i assume thats the process not "waking up"
is there a way to monitor that? or to tell it to restart? so we dont have to reboot everytime.............

I think i found whats killing it: google play services... disable body sensors permission in settings-->apps-->google play services-->permissions--> body sensors
also uninstall mcafee.
