Scrolling in browser fields - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I am afraid I already know the answer to this but hopefully there is a way. I was doing some stuff on the web and one of the pages was a registration form. The field for state was a dropdown box. The list item I needed was at the bottom so I needed to scroll down the list but there was no way to do so. Is there a way to do this?

Have u tried the dpad on the keyboard? Just a thought idk if that works just haven't run into that issue yet

I can't get the keyboard to come up. Once I leave the field for City, the keyboard goes away.

Long press on the menu button always brings the keyboard back...

.
On all Android devices, there are long press shortcuts and key-combination shortcuts.
There are the actual Android shortcuts, and some vendors such as Archos install their own.
I have never found any vendor that gives a full description of their devices shortcuts so I always either search Google (in the case of key-combination shortcuts) for any, other users have found, and long press every button on my device (front and keyboard in all applications...) to find out whats there.
Still working on this new device but seems to be limited to basic Android at mo.

I tried the long press. Maybe it is that web page's design. I have found that long pressing only lets you get to the keyboard in apps that require some kind of typing input. When I long press on that field, the keyboard never comes up.

Yeah, there are plenty of places where long press does not work.

[Request][Mod] Flip search button function

I seldom use the search function on my n1 (quick press search button), compared to my shortcut (long press search button).
I'd love to have the function on the button flipped, so that only when I long press search I get to search, but simply quick pressing it brings me to quickdesk (my shortcut)
There has got to be others interested in this, but I can't find any solution on how to solve it..
Can somebody help me out?

I THINK someone looked at this before, and without having an app running actively ALL the time to remap the default single press keys, its impossible.

Or i assume, editing the framework from source ? Like how wysie did it with long-press home-button. If u dont know what im referring to try cm6.
The home button long press change in cm6 is really nice.
Wondering how deep in the OS/framework these changes are..
Basically the OS should register the 4 "hardware" buttons the same way, so if one can be changed, all should be able to be changed..
Also since I just wanna swap functions, there is no need for a gui/front end to control the changes or map certain programs to it.
(I wouldn't complain if cm6 got a full search button control for both short and long press though)
Sounds like something that could be baked into a cm rom if enough people was interested in it..

It should be possible, but I took a brief look at the source and couldn't find it -_-. Will look harder next week. (Weekend's here )
Glad to see you all liking the home button binding change .
I was actually thinking about this after seeing the MT Slide ad... All the genius button is is the search button binded to a skinned voice dialer (if it's even skinned, haven't looked into it)

Key Mapping
This is a good resource: http://www.kandroid.org/android_pdk/keymaps_keyboard_input.html#androidKeymapKeyCharMap.
Would be awesome if you could pull this off

Keyboard and Mouse shortcuts/Commands?

Can anyone list or link me to a list of keyboard and mouse commands for our tablet?
I have a bluetooth mini keyboard* with a built in mouse and I would like to be able to control my tablet from my couch while it is connected to my TV's HDMI. However, I cannot figure out how to do basic tasks with the keyboard.
* The keyboard is this type:http://compare.ebay.com/like/400254296761?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&_lwgsi=y&cbt=y
Also, I'm not sure if the commands are tablet-specific, Android specific, or if they even exist at all. (I have searched XDA and Google, but because I do not know exactly what keywords to use, I am coming up without answers!)
Shortcuts I mainly need:
1-3) The three icons in the lower left of taskbar (they don't appear through HDMI): Back, Home, and the Prev Apps
4) Change homescreens/swipe left and swipe right (I can long click and move the mouse to do this, but it is difficult to do with my mouse since it is a knob type)
5) Long hold
6) Any other commands... heck, let's make a database if it doesnt exist already!
In case it matters: I am using ICS 4.0.3 stock (with root).
Ok, wait, I kinda figured some things out, but I still need help I think:
1) Back = (correction) RClick for some apps.
2) Prev Apps =
3) Still don't know Home EXACTLY, but while in an app, Right Click seems to exit to Homescreen... but if on a different Homescreen, pressing RClick will not bring you back to your default Screen. RClick does NOT seem to act like Back at all though.
Correction: RClick seems to act as Back in SOME apps.
4) I found that I can change Homescreens two ways:
a) Move mouse to far R/L side and click
b) Use the scrollbar for the mouse (the one used to scroll through webpages, etc); Downward = Left and Upward = Right
If there are any other methods, please list them.
5) Long Hold = Long Click
... *facepalm* I shouldve guessed this one from the start!!!!
6) Still, if anyone can fill in the blanks and list any others, it would be helpful to myself and I am sure many others.
I have a Bluetooth keyboard that I use and pressing the escape button on it seems to act as a universal back button in every app.

voice commands

With both my OG Evo and Evo 3D I was able to long press the search button and bring up a voice command/search window. I was able to say something like "set timer for 15 minutes" and the clock app would open with the timer set for 15 minutes and then all I had to do was press "set" or "save" or whatever and it was done. You could also set the alarm clock in the same way.
Obviously, there is so search button on the LTE. I have tried both the search bar and the GVS button in the market, but both to the same thing-----it does a web search for the phrase, which is useless. Is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing? I really miss this functionality.
well $hit......NOW it works. I tried this for half an hour yesterday and finally gave up. The only setting change I made was to change language from "automatic" to "English-US" but I can't imagine why that would make a difference. Sorry for the interruption. Please return to your regularly scheduled program.

i put it on that perma-bar in the lower right corner.
someone is working on mapping it to the multi-task button as a long press. i'm waiting for that too, although i'd like to see it mapped to a press of the camera hardware button from anywhere myself.

You didn't say how you got it working...are you long pressing a hardware key? Or did you find a widget? I REALLY miss the hardware key. Of all the buttons to remove. Really stupid. You can remove the back key by having a back gesture. Same with an up gesture for menu and three finger swipe for window cycling. But the search? dubya tee eff?!!

Hi guys this is correct. This only works if you set your voice input and output setting to English us as this is the only one currently supported by Google at the minute. To do this got to settings/voice input & output/voice recognizer settings/language/English US. Hope this helps.

Keyboard Search Cursor Skip

Hi
Since upgrading to jellybean ive noticed a small flaw in the search from keyboard.
Basically on ICS if i just tapped away on the keyboard it would automatically bring up the search.
For example without pressing the search button, if I just typed ANDROID, it would appear normally in the search field.
Now with JB if I type ANDROID, the A ends up at the end, it's almost like the cursor skips back. So as soon as I enter the "A" the cursor then shifts left and as I continue typing it ends up like this NDROIDA
It's a real pain, as I loved the keyboard search the way it was, does anyone have anyidea on how to clear this or am i the only person who this seems to effect.
Many thanks

Can anyone confirm they have the same issue ???

Xperia Keyboard

I am becoming increasingly frustrated with the Gesture Input in particular. Strike rate for arriving at intended word is perhaps 50%. More annoyingly once an incorrect(or any) word is entered, the system always deselects the suggested word and adds a space. Therefore you have to backspace numerous characters to correct it. And yes, I have unchecked "Automatic space" under Symbols & smileys.
Whereas on my Nexus 5x the strike rate for correct word is nearer 90% AND if an unintended word does get entered it is only ever a single press of the backspace key to clear it and start again. ie the entered word remains selected until the next action occurs and no following space is entered until then. Much better arrangement in my opinion.
For now I have disabled Gesture input as it is not working satisfactorily for me on this small Z5c screen. Frustrating because quick and simple text input is a key usability feature for me. If I get frustrated with the keboard every day I will get sick of the handset very soon. Made worse for me because the Nexus 5x I have been evaluating does such a terrific job of it, accentuating the shortcomings of the Xperia keyboard on the Compact.
Does everyone find the Xperia Keyboard satisfactory in the Compact phone footprint?
I'm having a similar issue. I'm use to using the CyanogenMod keyboard from my old rom with its own gestures. The other nice thing is that it has the symbols on the keys like the xperia keyboard where the google one doesnt for some reason.
Mine's working fine. Infact it has even picked up the Bangla words that I've used so far and so this is making one handed typing extremely easy for me. Well I have been using the xperia keyboard for like 3 years at a stretch now and maybe that's why I'm so used to it
I have been using this keyboard for about a month and still have not gotten use to it. The gesture swiping is only correct maybe 25% of the time at most. I've resorted to just typing more often now. I'd switch to the google keyboard but it lacks symbols on they keys.

With the Google keyboard you can hold down the symbol button and the symbols will appear on their respective keys. Then you can slide over to the symbol you want.

yeah, I know I can do that, but I'm use to holding down the key. I have to be somewhat precise with the sliding to the correct button so its easy to be off by one. I suppose I have the same risk just pressing and holding but I figure its easier to be precise when pressing a button directly vs stopping a slide.
