Hey everyone. i got a sgs2 3 hours ago and ive noticed this funny bit in the top right section of the screen, should i take back to the shop tomorrow. damned it! didnt show in screen shots........ what it is is a sort of scribble pattern, about an inch squared in size...... it looks to be under the glass but it has no effect to the phone at all.
If it doesn't show in screenshots then it's definitely physical. If you've literally only just got it then I'd take it straight back to the shop and get a replacement.
Yeah thats what i rekon... Its for certain not on the outside of the screen thats for sure! Jeez it was a replacement for my faulty sgs1! Hope they replace it

You got a SGS2 as a replacement for a SGS1? Nice!
Good luck and I'm sure they will replace it for you.
yeah they are replacing it onmonday, cant get permission until then from samsung but shop staff said for sure there was a fault and took a pic, funny thing is is that its kinda fading
was replaced today, no problems. Screen has no issue! rooted and deleted crappy Vodafone aussie apps

I have around 4 stuck pixels. They show up on grey screens as little light dots. Gets kind of annoying watching movies when and such. Tried the jscreen fix from the market but no luck.
Is this pretty normal? What's Sprint/htc policy? Just wondering if every phone has a few. Thanks in advance?

Take it back, tell them you want an exchange due to screen defect. If it's one lone pixel I can see it being dismissible but a cluster is not good.
In the general market they usually have a dual standard.
up to X amount of pixels bad is considered within tolerance however if the pixels are adjacent then the threshold is lower so it would fail quality control.
If they give you grief just ask for a refund and rebuy it
Take it back. Its defective. They will replace it

i turned on camera in dark room and i see like 3 pixels blue/green
has anyone tried that?
i tried my friends , turning on camera in completely dark room and didnt see any pixel issues
I have found from all these devices it is pretty common to see a stuck pixel here and there. I think you have to decide how bad it is or isn't. Sure you can exchange it but then you have to keep worrying if the next one will be worse and it will then become a never ending cycle!
this is true

Curious what you re going to do? I have 1 tiny one on the side of the phone that is only noticeable in a dark room on a black background. On the fence on what to do....I went through this with my TP2 and went through 4 phones and ended up keeping the best one of all of them but still had a stuck one. Just wasn't as bad as the other 3.

That program didn't fix my issue and with the other program I noticed a total of 4 all generally in the center of the screen. I am going to have Sprint exchange and see what happens on the next one. Since yours is in the corner I would let it slide.

I had to do this yesterday and they gave me so much trouble about having a dead pixel. Yeah, it is pretty particular to complain about but didn't we buy a brand new phone?!
I bought mine online, so I am not even going to deal with the store.

Good idea. I stopped by the store today and they just about laughed me and my 5 stuck pixels out of the building.....tossers.
They ran a "test" and said everything was fine and a few stuck pixels were fairly normal. I called sprint and they offered a new phone that should be here Monday. Kudos to sprint!
Hopefully the new one doesn't have the same problem.

keep us posted, good luck
i just got my S3 and i m so worried and so sad people!
i got the pebble blue s3. i have issues with my screen. i ran the screen test and found the same dark spots on my screen when screen is black. there are lots of them. i dont have nice camera to take pic of those dots. they are really annoying because i surf the internet a lot and these dots are very visible specially in the dark!
the other issue is something with the viewing angle. when i hold the device right next to my eyes (as we all do most of the times) the screen seems to be more yellowish and the colors seem to be alot washed away! but when i change the viewing angle like just a little, i mean when i tilt the device just a little the colors get normal the way they should be!
the next thing is the pink tint. in the browser the white pages are EXTREMELY PINK! yes EXTREMELY PINK! that happens at the automatic brightness!
when viewing the black color on the sceen, when the capacitive touch buttons are on the light of the menu button seems to leave its light on the screen. and the blacks are NOT AT ALL BLACK!!!
people i am so tensed and worried! can someone help me out of these problems? i have read that the white S3 does not have any of this problem is it true? i have also read that the dark spots are because of the glu used and those would go away with time, but i dont believe in that! should i send the device to claim warranty and get it repaired? pls pls pls some one help me! i have spent all my money i had saved for the past 4 months for this set and i even sold my Galaxy Note for this! i am so much tensed! pls help me guys!
well jumping off a bridge will ease ur pain
You got a defective unit it happens. So send it back or get it repaired / exchanged. You spent a lot of money you should get a product that works as intended without defects. The sooner the better you'll be much happier. Best advice I can give you. All without the need to jumping off a bridge or if you do hope that you that you land on kyan to break your fall.

The block splotches are absolutely not indicative of a bad display.
They are present on virtually every OLED screen, ranging from the Nexus One's, to the PlayStation Vita's, to the Samsung Galaxy S3's.
I can't speak for your other issues, but people need to understand the splotches are common on pretty much any OLED. Some can see them easily, some seem to be unable to, but it does not mean the panel is defective.
Why are you on here? I see you just joined the site recently. How about you learn to be polite and if you can't, then leave.

yeah u r right. i guess my set is faulty. but i thought this might be something that would get ok with time. but that does does not make any sense. if those dots were something related to the glue, those should have been vanished by now as the set is old now. i mean it should have been produced at least like 1 or 2 months ago.
man i am ruined! i feel really so so bad! i just got up its 7 here in the morning and i am so badly hurt! and great news is that today is complete shutter down strike here in my city Karachi. so all the market and whole of the city is shut down. so i cant go to the store and return the device! You have to admit though that it was funny
I use an app called dead pixel test, and it allows you to cycle through several different solid coloured screns, like all white, all black, red blue etc. No probelms with my screen, but I have a screen protector on it now.
Does yours have a screen protector that could be affecting it? Otherwise just return it as faulty.
I also have the pebble blue and screen is amazing. No issues here. Did notice the marks on a completely black screen in a dark room once but it hasn't showed since. Didn't really bother me.

Just tested my phone for the dark patches and the screen is full of them. So far it hasn't ruined my life. Or indeed a millisecond of my life.

Get over it and get it exchanged if your not happy, but seriously whining like the above makes you look very silly as your acting like an 8 year old with a tantrum.
My s3 has faults too, like the front facing speaker isnt flat and sits at an angle... but you dont hear me whining....
These are a mass produced product and there will always be faulty units... so dont fret and go and get another one

Hey guys so I got my phone today brand new and when I hold it at an angle it looks like there are about 8 spots on the screen that are nothing but white regardless of the background. Idk too much about screens but I'm sure its NOT supposed to be like this. I didn't get a warranty for the phone yet, but I was wondering if there was any suggestions for what I should do. I haven't even had this phone for a day yet

well depends on were you bought the phone...
if at Verizon, bring it back to Verizon.
even if you bought the phone from Verizon online, phone, store, etc. you are covered by Verizon.
If you bought it outside Verizon, then you need to check if there's a return on that like ebay, some buyers will give like a 3 day return or something like that, if that's the case make sure you get a new one.
Either way wherever you bought the phone you need to talk to them..
This phone hasn't popped up with many problems (yet) .
The Rezound would heat up on me and many other things, but the inc4 is very solid IMO
hope you get yourself a fresh one
Thanks boss I'll check with best buy tomorrow they have a 30 day return policy
If you got it at Best Buy they should give you no trouble.

Hi all
Anyone in South Africa that has hard bricked their phone?
As far as I know this is irrecoverable.
My phone took a dive today (2 floors) and I need to buy a new screen for it
Thought it might be a good idea buying another phone which is basically just a piece of hardware granted it needs to be in good condition (no scratches on the screen itself etc)
thanks

I broke mine two weeks ago myself.
I paid 120 euro for it.
It's not cheap but I just love my S2.
Good luck
A bricked phone isnt a total loss.Someone could sell the screen and everything else on eBay-so I cant see someone "giving" you a screen for free.......or a phone cos its bricked.
They are around the price the other guy mentioned,or you could go to the marketplace section if your wanting to buy one.
Yep - Never wanted it for free.
Wasn't aware anyone would actually think of giving it away for free......
But I should have made that clear.
So i got the new screen installed today. And after a couple of hrs usage my keaboard has already burned into the screen.
I am aware that amoled display does have this downside, but only after years of usage. Not a couple of hrs on a new screen.

I love this phone and its killing me to have these dead pixels especially because one of them is in the damn middle of the screen, the worst part is that it is sold out everywhere where I live so I cant even exchange it.
Get your **** together HTC and don't let your customers go through this frustration!!!

I thought the same till I ran the dead pixel test.
Anyways i'm glad for you enjoy it, its an epic phone!
So hold on you was happy with your phone until you ran a test that told you had a dead pixel? Sounds like nitpicking to me!
I also have couple of dead pixels, only saw them when I ran the dead pixel app..otherwise can't see them...
I feel some are just reaching to find a issue with there phones. It would be different if it affects anything but if you can't see it and everything us works ok just be happy with your phone.
How about people stop making threads complaining and just exchange their device.

So I just noticed I have a dead pixel as well. I'm within my 14 day period but I unlocked my bootoader. Does anybody think I will get a problem from HTC when they get it back? I know they won't notice in store.

Got mine a week after launch. Cant find any dead pixels. Are you guys going to exchange your phones?
If I had a bunch in the center of screen I'd replace it. If it's the same as my One X and I just have 1 or 2 in the corner I'd probably keep it.

I made an exchange, second unit has one dead pixel on the top left but I decided to keep it.
Mine had a piece of dust inside the digitzier assembly. Ironically it was not able to be shooken out due to the "goo" that is placed in the gap between the digitizer and the LCD to prevent dust. I went to exchange it and I am fine now. I was pretty bummed out because my girls didn't have any flaws lol.
I have two stuck green pixels in the middle of my screen. What's weird is that you can only see them in the dark. I ran a stuck pixel fixer to no avail.
It's past the 14 days and I bought my phone from eBay. Does anyone know if T-Mobile will replace it? If not, no big deal. I can live with a few green pixels. Plus it's rooted, so I don't think they'd replace it, even though it was there before rooting.
I have 3 dead pixels on my phone. I was at day 16 when I noticed it and T Mobile is graciously exchanging it for me.
Will they replace it if it's rooted, or should I un-root it first?

I would definitely un root the device before sending it back. From my understanding you can't re lock the boot loader so that is really just a crap shoot if you get a tech that actually checks those things.
