Hi
First time post as have just got a Samsung Galaxy S2.
I did a search on the forum and none of the yellow triangle posts are clear to me.I have rooted the phone and it boots and performs ok. I initially rooted it to Lightening Rom 1.5 and have updated this to version 3. The only issue I have is that the yellow triangle appears. I got a jig from mobiletech video website to remove this. I turn the phone off and put in the Jig and nothing happens? Tried everything and no joy. When I updated to version 3.0 of lightening Rom tried again and the phone still will not turn on. I looked around and the only reason I can see is that the Jig is not working or its a bricked bootloader. If it was a bricked bootloader then the phone would not work so would it be the case the Jig is broken? Is there any other way of removing this triangle that is not rocket science and can be done by a noobie like myself
Thanks
Well, does the phone go into download (and will also show 'erasing download information' mode when using the jig? If not, the jig is broken.
I removed the yellow triangle by flasing the original kernel, and flashing the modifed one back with CWM.
Check your Jig. I never had any problem with mine
Your jig seems to be broken. What happens when you plug it in while the device is on?

He did that. But I read somewhere that you should take out your battery, wait a few secs, put it back in and then plug in your jig and wait for the erase of your counters. Maybe you could try that.

Somehow I read turned on, anyway check the resistance of the jig.

Thanks for the replies
In case there is any misunderstanding. What I do is turn off phone completely. Then I put in the Jig. What is suppose to happen is that it should come on within 3-4 sec with the download screen. What actually happens is nothing not a kick from the phone. I can still turn phone on manually and press the home, on/off button & volume down to get to download mode.Tried it with the phone turned on and nothing. Will try taking the battery out later and then try it. Have sent mobiletechvideo an email to see if they could possible replace it as not sure if jig got damaged in transit. Looking at the jig when its inserted into phone its not flush against the usb port not sure if this is the issue?
If anyone has any other ideas please post
Cheers
Try another jig and not the one your grandfather dances at weddings .

When I insert my Jig while the device is on, it starts to "charge", or at least the device thinks it's connected to a charger. It could also be because my Jig doubles as a MiniUSB>MicroUSB adapter, but if I plug in a normal MiniUSB>MicroUSB adapter, nothing happens. So I still think your Jig is broken. And I doubt it was broken in transit since it should not be that sensitive. So I guess either your phone USB is ****ed up in some way, or the Jig is just broken.
Thanks
The usb works fine as I can connect the usb cable to it and PC picks it up. Not sure how I can check the resistance of the Jig
As for getting another one that is not from my grandparents maybe I will email Michael Flatley and ask him to riverdance on my jig see if that fixes it
Ok going to mail mobiletechvideo to see if they can replace it
Cheers
Ok removed battery and tried it and no joy. Inserted it while phone was on nothing
The below link for the pic shows the jig inserted but its not flush this does not look right. Can we safely say the issue is with the Jig ?

You can say that 100% only after you have tested the Jig on another phone, another jig on your phone, and measured the resistance of the Jig. But at least you are doing everything right and there are no signs of any fault with your device. So I would say even without all those tests the chances are pretty much 99% that the fault lies with the Jig.
Nooooo!
You have a custom rom!
If you just root it, and flash Stock kernel, you wont have the yellow triangle.

While I'm not 100% sure that this wouldn't cause a brick. I know that I've pulled my battery out during an odin flash with out bricking. Plug in the charger just to make sure.

You might try to get into download like this
1. remove batt.
2.plug usb into computer
3.put batt. in
4.hold volume down+up
5. plug usb into phone.
Then try Odin again
If that doesn't work you might try building a jig:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
Good luck!
If all else fails, there's always the homemade jig method. I haven't tried it but lots have had success.
EDIT: beat me to it dave. Good post

Its a true brick if you cant get in download mode or turn it on. The jig is for people that flashed wrong firmware or pulled battery out in odin and dont have working 3 button combo but the phone does turn on. I have tried a working jig with captivate that wont turn on and no working 3 button combos and had no luck. I have bricked a few captivates with ULF kernel and bad flash's. I do not use ULF kernels any more. Did you have ULF kernel loaded before you flashed?

Not true. My phone couldn't turn on at all. The screen remained black even when plugged into usb or a charger. Removing/replacing the battery did nothing. I plugged into usb, pulled battery, and held the volume buttons while inserting the battery, BAM dl mode.

I said if download mode does not work. If you try every way to get into download mode and it does not work or turn on then you have a true brick.
Same...
I've got the same problem. The jig method won't work...it says it right in the guide. Did you get anything to work?
I'm still not convinced this is possible without actual physical damage being inflicted through faulty charger/usb cable, shock, water, or otherwise... A rogue battery pull sounds a bit far fetched to cause this kind of damage, but you never know...
Download mode is likely the answer you're looking for. Figure out a way into it.

I just recovered my phone from what i believed was a hard brick, it would not power on using the 3 button method i pulled my battery and still nothing. so i did a little bit of looking around on the internet and came accross fractionalphones .com/?p=185 after following the steps i got back into download mode used odin and flashed my phone back to stock.
Hope this helps
Hi all, i am running the latest version of Bionix i went to hit the reboot option and accidentally selected the download mode button. I pulled the battery out before it fully shutdown, me being impatient. When i put the battery back in the phone immodestly turned on and tried to boot, and stays on the vibrant screen for about 2-3 seconds then shuts off and try's to boot back up again on its own. Also when plugged in it continues to boot loop, it never shows that it is charging, only the battery with the loading circle, then ****s off and repeats.
I am not new to modding, and i am not new to getting my phone into recovery or download mode. The problem is the phone does not respond to the hardware keys, and i am positive that it used to be able to reach download mode via keys, i do not have a hardware locked vibrant.
I guess my question lies in the realm of another way to reset the phone, maybe via shorting pins or something? Does anyone know of an alternate method that does not rely on keys or software to reset the phone?
Thanks in advanced!

I have been in similar circumstance. Have you tried the battery methods to get into dl mode?
Remove battery and connection to computer.
plug phone back into computer
Hold volume up and down
Insert battery while holding buttons
That should work because it will put you in dl mode before it has a chance to boot loop
You might have to have odin up and running before you do the battery pull

A jig is a mod'ed usb device that will basically force your vibrant into download mode. Just use the method mentioned earlier....ie
Have odin up and running.
Pull battery
plug in cable
hold vol up and down
put battery in
should get you into download mode. Sometimes it took a few tries with Odin already loaded to successfully do it, but you shouldn't have any issues.

Point being there is lots of ways to overcome this.
Hey man Ive been in a similiar situation as well.... this has been the ONLY way that has worked, not even the above mentioned methods.
Phone not plugged in at all yet. Battery pull for 10 seconds, put back in, BEFORE plugging in phone, hold volume up button (if this doesnt work try both volume buttons, sorry been out of the Vibrant for a while for my NS) while plugging phone in (still holding volume up button), hold till it throws into DL mode.
Hope that helps man!

I've tried that method, it used to work for me. This soft brick is different than any other I've encountered. The phone has never automatically tried to boot when i put the battery into it, it makes things harder. But thanks and ill give it ago again.
No such luck with the battery method, it still just boot loops. I tried at least 2 dozen times.Anyone want to tell me how to get my hands on a jig?

I think that method with the battery is just referred to as a jig by some people.
I would try the battery method with odin ready to go and without, and sometimes it takes a couple tries.
Also just try holding all the buttons while unplugged, for a long time, then on one of the boot loops as soon as you see anything flicker in the screen release the power button, then try all buttons, then just volume buttons. Sometimes playing with it like that just kinda forces it.
Does odin see it in com port? Do you have correct drivers installed to use odin? Sdk installed as well?

Also try different combos of being plugged in and not. And recovery or download mode. Recovery will be just as useful as dl mode.

A jig is THIS, it shorts out pins in the micro usb port forcing it to download mode. I am positive i have the correct drivers and the sdk installed right. This isn't the first time I've been soft bricked and i am very familiar with DL mode and Recovery, and how to reach them traditionally. This soft brick is different though for what ever reason. I am going to have to try this jig, and if that doesn't work, i think ill have to read up about the jtag pins on it, if anyone has more information on jtaging a Galaxy S please post!
Did you ever end up trying the jig? I'm having the exact same problem you were. Thanks
I hard bricked a vibrant by trying to flash a rom on a low battery. Battery died in the middle of rebooting thus killing my vibrant with no way of recovery (seriously, charged the battery and the phone still wouldn't turn on... at all). Anyway, while trying to fix it, I actually made a jig. It's a lot easier than it sounds. You basically cut the plug that goes into your phone off of the cord down to where you can see all of the wires. Once you do that you break off the plastic shell that covers the plug. You then use a 301k resistor (I couldn't find that exact one so I bought 3 x 100k resistors and a 1k resistor then twisted them together).. plug the usb side into your phone then touch the opposing ends of the resistor onto wires 4 and 5 and it should go into download mode. You don't necessarily have to solder the resistor to the wires but you can. It makes it a bit easier considering you can't touch the wire part of the resistor or the static will mess up the voltage. Otherwise, Amazon sells jigs for a few bucks.
I wanted to post the url for the site that I found useful in making a jig but because I'm a "junior user" I can't. So if you search for "usb jig" on amazon there are a few; if you want to make one google "how to unbrick samsung vibrant" there is an article on factoidz called "How to unbrick your samsung vibrant/galaxy s" which I found to be the most useful.
Hope this helps!
I bought a jig off ebay and it worked like a charm! Worth its weight in gold! I now have a working phone again after being phoneless for 5 days.
Failed to replace stock recovery now get only there.
Hi, similar situation please help.
From stock 2.1 I rooted with King root Chinese zip then to go for a new ROM I renamed a cwm zip in update.zip and I read replacing stock recovery..... and saw this cwm just a couples of times, as it revert to stock recovery and doesn't switch on anymore, show grey battery logo fixed when charging, and now after removing the battery for long it goes in stock recovery se2 , cleaned cache and data but nothing change.
Is there please a solution without PC?
Thanks
So I was flashing my phone with odin and I really messed up and accidentally flashed it with the captivate software not the fascinate software the phone would try to turn on and would show the att loading screen and just kept looping to that screen. I tried to put it back in download mode and it wouldnt work so I read that I should let the battery completely die and try again. I did that and now the phone will not power on at all the screen stays black no matter what key combination I press. I tried holding vol+, vol-, and power; I tried vol- and power, i tried both with the cable plugged in before and after a battery pull, and tried them both without it being plugged in before and after a battery pull. the phone is generating some sort of heat so i know the charger is plugged in properly, (i tested the charger with a samsung infuse and it charges fine so i know the charging cable is working properly). So my question is how do i get it back into download mode so I can flash the proper stock software with odin? all help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! thank you in advance!

So I carefully read that post, I'm using a fully charged battery from my friends epic phone, I can't get the phone into download mode and what is ever more strange is that when I press the power button when the phone is NOT plugged into a usb port the phone will show the "att world phone" splash screen, and it will loop boot that image over and over. However, whenever I plug it into a usb cable hooked up to a laptop the phone will go back to a blank black screen and stay that way. Then I will push any key seuqence and I can't get the phone into download mode for the life of me anyone know another way to get into download mode on a samsung fascinate accidentally flashed with a samsung captivate firmware? Once again all help is greatly appreciated
Actually I realized the microusb cable I was using didnt come with the fascinate and the port on the fascinate is oddly shaped so the cable I was using wasnt truly connected, so what happens now with a solid connection to a microusb cable the phone goes to the black screen and will stay that way regardless of what key combinations I hold down. I can even pull the battery and put it back in all while being plugged into the computer and the screen stays black however, when I unplug the phone from the microusb cable the phone will immediately show the "att world phone" splash screen, and continue to loop boot back to that splash screen. Its very strange, someone please help
The usb pinouts are fascinate specific, are you using the stock samsung cable?
Find the download mode jig. Normal download mode methods won't work for you anymore that you're on att firmware. If you're lucky, you can fix it.
Well, let's review........so far you flashed captivate software onto your fascinate, then you thought putting the battery from the epic in your phone might help......I think the next step is definitely to see if putting a hard shell case for the vibrant on your phone will help. May as well cover the entire galaxy s line.
On a serious note, listen to imnuts' advice. It's your only chance.

That's for putting the phone into download mode, not usage of the Micro USB cable. Yes, the port on the phone side has a specific pinout, but the cable itself doesn't.
Love this site, info abounds... Just saw a thread about manually jumping the pins w/a series of resistors. Common sense, but I'd trust the soldering better than my fingers lol. On a lighter note, I think it was only 3 bad ideas... w/ imnuts and shark, he is in good hands.
hey landshark68, i used the battery from my friends epic because the battery from my fascinate would not charge in my fascinate no matter what, so I had to use another battery to even get the phone to do anything, I'm sure you make a lot of friends assuming that everyone is less intelligent than you

It was a joke about piecing things together from all the different galaxy s phones.
lol sorry man, its just frustrating that i havent been able to use my phone and it makes me sad sorry to take it out on you
Did you try this to get in download mode: " If you can't get into download mode with your phone plugged into your PC, unplug usb from PC and plug it into the wall outlet, and try to put it into download mode there. When It goes into download mode, unplug usb from adapter, plug it into PC and put it into download mode, This does work."
it doesnt go into download mode no matter what ive tried all different key combinations used for any galaxy phone and it just loops the "att world phone" splash screen, has anyone else ever accidentally flashed a phone with the wrong model's software before? or am i the only one that is that silly lol
Imnuts is right. And Landshark, while sarcastic, is both right AND funny. Google captivate download jig, (evidently this works for all galaxy s models) read some, go to radio shack, get a (or some more likely) resistor(s), make sure they add up to 301 kohm (again, verify w/ xda post on building a jig, going on what I read last night) and hope you didn't flash yourself a mini att billboard.
or buy one on amazon. 9.99 search galaxy dongle jig. Good luck, since you get some boot activity, it looks like there is some hope.
There is a good chance the download mode jig will work for you based on what you have said. However, it is your ONLY option and last resort at this point if the other download mode methods have failed.

Power the phone off completely. Pull the battery. Put the battery back in after about 30 seconds. Hold down both volume buttons while also plugging in the USB cable. Keep the vol buttons held down until you see the d/l screen come up. Let go of the buttons and then click vol up once to proceed to d/l mode.

Sorry I guess I missed that part. Thought it was stuck at the AT&T screen. Try leaving the battery out for a good ten minutes or so and then seeing if it responds by plugging in the charger.

Ok I will try that and after that I´ll let you know what happened thanks.
Nothing happened? any other solution?
What was the battery level like when the phone last turned on? If you can't get it to power up at all, there's only so much you can try. I'd try plugging it into a different outlet as well as maybe the computer and see if you can get any response from it.
When you have the battery in and press and hold power, do you see the softkeys briefly blink like they normally do when turning the phone on? It's possible that the battery is somehow the problem but I guess it could be the phone too. Would love some other input from other people cause I'm at a loss on what else to try.

It was at 30% I think the battery is discharged but I don´t know how to recharged.
When I press and hold power or vol up and down the softkeys don´t blink.
Yes I know I need more people to give solutions but thank you very much Kadin.
Well if you think it's fully discharged, leave it plugged into the wall for a while. It's possible that it dipped down below the point where it normally shuts off (around 5%) and may need a good long charge to get it back alive. I'd attempt that if you haven't already.

So - it got to the AT&T logo - tell us EXACTLY what you did after that.
It might help too if you explain what it was you did to the phone to try to get back to att stock.
Include the filenames used, and if you Odined, where you used them.
Just a thought,

There is a very good chance that if you charge the phone with wall charger
to be sure the battery is not dead and then use a JIG which will get it into
download mode you will be able to reflash the stock rom.
You can buy a JIG for less than $2 bucks including shipping on eBay.
Be sure that when you do get it into download mode to re-download
the stock rom just to be sure that the rom file is not corrupted.
Good luck!

I´ve reflashed this rom I777UCKH7 OCD No BL.7z two times with odin and it said "OK" the phone reboot but when the loggo appears stocks there, the battery is not dead, yesterday I took the phone to some center and they´ve said is not dead but I can not do anything also with the jig.
Also I used this thread to back to return to original rom

The way you phrased your description above make it sound like you flashed a .7z file in Odin3. If you tried to do that, it wouldn't work, or course. The file you named, I777UCKH7 OCD No BL.7z contains an executable file that is an Odin one-click downloader. You have to extract the file from the 7 zip archive first, then run the file in windows, then connect your phone to the pc. Maybe that's what you did but your description is confusing?

Sincerely I don´t remember what else I did but the problem is I can not do anything because I can not enter to download mode or recovery, the phone doesn´t turn on even with jig.
This happened on my captivate based on what I have read your phone is hard bricked and is basically a large paper weight now. But don't take my word for it I sold my cappy on Ebay when I hard bricked it and about a month later there was a fix for it with a jtag goodluck

I also tried the jig I couldn't get any response... It wouldn't turn on or anything

Hi,
i was taking a photo today and the phone hanged. i tried to reboot it but it got stuck at the bootup screen for eternity. tried to reflash it via cwm but it didn went there was some recovery log failure and i could see that the memory was all wiped out.
i tried to put the phone in download mode and odin-ed it but it got stuck at cache.img and didn proceed so i closed the program and unplugged the phone.
and now the phone doesn even turn on but the processor feels hot when i plug it into the charger.
any help guys?? its quite urgent thanks if anyone had a similar experience.
Dead MB. Service centre (or maybe get one from a donor phone & fix it yourself if you're confident).
dead mb?
would the service centre know that i hacked it, it cant even turn on though
You're only going to find that out when you send it in. If you're lucky, they don't care/don't notice & they fix it under warranty (assuming your warranty is valid). If not, you pay for it.
dead motherboard. Fried phone, bricked.... anything you want. Happened to me a month back, and jst got screwed by $ammy service center for "water damage" because BAT500 had leaked... whereas the leaking BAT500 is a known problem related to the weird way samsung charges its phone (bat500 seems to be actually charging, causing the battery to leak).
I guess you propbably have a similar problem. Would be interested to know how to fix it with a spare MB... would probably require a full dump of the nand??
when i plug it into the charger, the processor gets hotter... is there no other way i can fix it?
Use jig tag to enter downloads mode then flash your phone using odin
Search the web for guide make cheap usb jig tag

I think you're mistaking two things.
USB Jig is plugged in the micro-USB port of the phone, and forces it to enter download mode, however it won't work if the phone doesn't boot at all.
On the other hand, JTAG must be plugged directly on the motherboard, and I'm not sure you can build a jtag cable for cheap (but as I say *not sure*)
the usb jig would work even if the phone doesn boot up?

no it wouldn definitely not. Read what I just posted.
USB jig: phone must boot, so at least you should have an "infinite boot logo".
JTAG: direct chip programming.

watch it again. the phone he uses still displays something on screen even without the jig. Here we're talking 'full-brick': no on-screen display at all, nothing happens, nada.
@previous post: bet 500$ your 300$ jig is a riffbox
Exactly. Somebody is talking out their you know what.
