Hi guys, a friend has got this tablet. Is there a guide for this to install recovery(cwm) and honeycomb?
I had a look but there so many models on this section but i need the hannspad sn10t13r1653.
Cheers
Normally you just need to boot in APX mode (Volume down + power for 2 second while powering it on) and download the package indicated in the post indicated at the bottom of this post.
Verify the number of partitions by doing:
./nvflash --bl bootloader.bin --getpartitiontable table.txt
Find in the table.txt file the partition number of SOS partition
For example if partition SOS is 11:
./nvflash -r --download 11 part9.img
For example if partition SOS is 9:
./nvflash -r --download 9 part9.img
if you screwed up your hannspad, just follow this thread (same zip file):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15884321&postcount=10
Got this budget tab as I am waiting on quad core cpu tabs and yes there is some guides on how to install honeycomb. Go to wwwdotslatedroiddotcom. I wish we would have a sub forum for the hannspad. Guess hannspree is pissing off the devs as they are refusing to release the kernel. Is it possible to extract the kernel somehow?

hi folks, i'm hoping someone can help.
i'm very interested in getting this tablet but i wanted a few honest views off users.
i'm not worried about Froyo, tbh there isn't a real difference to ginger, but the twin core build intrerests me more thatn the single core tables that are comming out.
have hannspree removed the phone apk's (etc) to improve power and memory management?
i don't play many games so i'm not worries about split second responsiveness but i've heard it can sometimes lag a bit, honestly how does the stock rom perform?
i wondered if anyone had tried go launcher or launcher plus and how the responsiveness compared to stock? screen responsiveness, typing etc?
also i'd be using this for video on the go, i don't watch HD but normal avi/divx, do they play ok?
i'd be very grateful if anyone would be willing to record a short video if the tablet in use so i could get an idea, the marketing vids are always a bit false
i'm been out of cooking for others about a year due to family matters (but still been home building for my HD2) while there are some mods over on slatedroid, theres nothing on XDA. if i get the tab i'll probably start playing with the rom and post a few slimmed down recovery versions. to see what we can start
regards and thanks in advance

Hello, is there any ETA on when the Hannspad kernel source will be released?
There was a rumour suggesting you wouldn't release it. But I'm sure that's just a rumour because under the GPL which the open source Android platform is released under there must be a kernel release for legal reasons.
Look forward to your reply

- battery is one of the best among the tablets
i don't play many games so i'm not worries about split second responsiveness but i've heard it can sometimes lag a bit, honestly how does the stock rom perform?
- stock rom is crap, replace it with either one of the honeycomb(those are not finished yet), or Hannstitan from Slatedroid.
i wondered if anyone had tried go launcher or launcher plus and how the responsiveness compared to stock? screen responsiveness, typing etc?
- Responsiveness is fine, no problems with typing, although Zeam launcher looks better on the tab.
also i'd be using this for video on the go, i don't watch HD but normal avi/divx, do they play ok?
- Plays without problem, also HD, just make sure you use hardware accelerated player.
I would say this is the best tablet in budget price! Almost the same as the transformer, and that costs £350!

Thanks for clearing some questions guys, i might considering buying one then.
But i've got one question, this tablet doesn't come with any webcam, right?
Is it really needed or not?
Hi,
A friend of mine has bought one of the Hannspree tablets but can't get the Bluetooth GPS APK to install on it.
He wants to connect the tablet to an external bluetooth GPS and I suggested a bluetooth GPS app that I'd used on a Samsung galaxy 1 because the built in GPS was crap.
Running the APK gives a dialog saying the install was not succesful.
Any ideas would be gratefully received.
Cheers.
i dont think this tab has a GPS unit, though maybe wifi GPS would be the way to go.

Can you recommend a hardware accelerated player? I have tried 5 or 6 from the market, some that claim hardware acceleration but none of them have been capable of playing 720p smoothly.
I thought it claimed to could do 1080p H.264?

They didn't specify any sort of bitrate it could play unfortunately. Overclocking apparently makes it play fine enough but the screen isn't really high enough res or good enough period to play them on it imo

hi all just a quick question about the archos 101 i just got mine in the post
is there a alternative rom that i can flash to it as i find the archos one quite laggy, if not what would happen if i installed the oxygen gingerbread one i have on my htc desire on it ?
thanks
Estevey
to solve the lag, install the latest firmware from archos.com
in settings/about device/powermanagement, set the cpu to overboost.
and install/use Zeam launcher.
you cant use a desire rom.

This is exactly what I did and it runs well for me. I still have some issues with it not coming out of standby after being left a while but for the most part this makes it an easy to use fun tablet. I am not that concerned with quadrant scores or creating some ultra powerful tablet. I was ready to throw it out when the firmware came out. Firmware + Zeam work excellent and now I use it everyday.
i did this still not as fast and smooth as a HTC desire which i thought it would be or better than
still happy with it and cant wait till some custom roms are released for it
would rooting it make any difference to the performance and running the ext4 on a sd card ?
I have an HTC Desire as well as my Archos 101.
The desire has more than double the ram of the 101, its bound to be more responsive
I think the 101 is very nippy to be honest once you set it on overboost and install Zeam. Also turning off live wallpapers and uninstalling (or not installing) voice search sped mine up a lot.
Give try to or maybe switch to.....
To all tablet lovers,
In fairness to you guys, I heard a lot of issues of the Archos 101. Since it has a single core processor. No wonder the performance is getting slow. Samsung has the same processor, but it has only 7" screen compare to 10". Nvidia Tegra 2 core is on rocks in the market tablets right now, aiming for the new OS (honeycomb). Give a try to Viewsonic Gtab...it worth for the price of 16Gb.
almost all release 'issues' with the 101 were sorted by the latest firmware update. Its now stable, pretty quick and great value for money.
the viewsonic is a good ptablet but the firmware sucks still, so im glad I went for the archos 101 to be honest.
I'd love a dual core tablet, and know that the gen8 archos tablets may never see android 2.3 let alone 3.0, but I bought the 101 knowing that it would run 2.2 and 99% of the apps out NOW, so I'm happy.
you cant get a better tablet for the money right now if you ask me.

+1 I love my 101!!!
well i have sorted mine out !
i did reinitialization of the device and installed no 3rd party applications (i think this was the main slow down) then i bumped the cpu to overdrive in the about in settings and the big one here that made all the difference was disabling the eye candy (animation) which makes no odds if your going to install zeam which i did and the market
i am now very happy with the archos 101 and have no complaints after hearing some of the horror stories with the china alternatives.
all i need to do now is find a key bored that i am happy with also a updated version on zeam and i will be chuffed to pices
Steve
have you tried swiftkey or thumb keyboard (set it to 10" tablet mode), both are great alternatives to the stock one.
swiftkey are releasing a tablet version of their keyboard soon as well.
you say you disabled the animation...? where did you do that specifically?
cheers.

I agree with you with NO questions, Stock OS is sucks! But there are 5 ROMS to choose (TnT, Zpad, Vegan, CM and Ubuntu) for you to tweak to get your Gtab into beast. Many of ARCHOS user tryinh to tweak too to get the tablet to its maximum performance right? Visit the forum once in Gtablet and you will see great good Developers and never ending supports.
to disable animations simply go to settings and select animation then no animation it relay makes a BIG difference to the device'

Am not trying to argue with you guys, but lets face the reality...My first choice is Archos 101, i've been waiting for more than a month for my order, but its no luck. In my opinion Archos company is delaying the shipment, till i cancelled my order. My question is WHY? Maybe they still trying to fix those issues? I observe at the Gtab forum, and read those supports, issues, etc...and what a good community of developers. Thats why i convinced to get the Gtablet. But still i gonna buy the Archos 101 once it available in market (retailers). Am still a fans of Archos, but what a shame, Gtablet is on the rocks right now. Technically wise and supports.
Try to visit this forum just once if you have time..

I love the Archos too have the 101. In the beginning I had problems and had to reset it twice but now it's running good. My EVO has double the ram but this is a decent tablet for what I want. I just unchecked that animation thing to see if it makes a difference. Not even sure what it does. I also had to uninstall Volice Search it really slowed me down and messed me up. Yahoo Messenger and Video messed me up too. I had a couple other apps not work but playing Word Feud and Angry Birds is great on here. I use it to surf the web and do facebook mostly and get some of my emails. I am glad I bought it.
I read up on tablets before hand and at first considered the Gtab but I am not into rooting and all that don't know how. I also had an older Archos 605 MP3/Video player wifi from way back when I Pod Videos 1st came out and I really like Archos. I love having the market place on here and my calendar being synced.
Not sure if this belongs in Q&A but I'm looking for guidance. I just purchased the G Tab and I have to admit that I'm a little disappointed. Screen I can deal with, no rear camera I can deal with, it's the lack of hardware acceleration that bothers (I don't know how I missed this). I'm considering returning this item and possibly waiting for the new Acer to be in stock somewhere. I would just keep the Viewsonic if hardware acceleration were looking likely. What do you guys think? Wait or return? Looking for some guidance from my community
The day I can run 2.3+ and play videos without issues will be a happy day

HW acceleration exists in the Froyo roms - this should have been something you discovered in the first 10 minutes of browsing around here and elsewhere on teh internets prior to purchase.
If you need HW acceleration, just run a Froyo custom rom - slap any of the nice tablet launchers on it, put in an OC kernel, and hey presto you're good to go on the video front. Or, use rockplayer's software decoding with an OC kernel, and most stuff will playback smoothly.
Some HW acceleration is trickling out in the CM7 codebase, there's no reason to think that eventually it won't get there sooner or later. Mostly later.
The "last year's technology + enthusiast hackers" path isn't for everyone. No shame in that - if you want out of the box HC with full hardware support, just return the gtab, and get one.

limited HW accel in CM7.0.2 reported here on XDA - a couple days ago:

It probably won't be too long before Nvidia releases HW acceleration for Gingerbread. I've enjoyed mine since December and with VEGAn Tab Ginger RC1 + Clemsyn 1.5gHZ kernel... it rocks!!

If you can get passed the screen, I would say keep. Few questions to ask yourself.
What type of vids are you planning to play? Are we talking about blu-ray rips? Do you really need 2.3? What features of 2.3 are you needing that 2.2 doesn't have?
If I were answering the above questions, I would keep it. Because I'm happy with the 2.2 based ROMS. All the vids I have put on my gtab play fine. The highest resolution that my vids are converted to is 720p and there are not many. I'm happy with how all my videos look on my gtab.
I believe the CM team is making great progress with GB and I believe they are doing this without any help form Nvidia or Viewsonic. I could be wrong.
Buuuuuuut....if you really like the Acer then I would consider it.
The reviews on the other tablets have not been stellar. Problems with lack of apps and honeycomb in general have led to the so so reviews. Dolphin hd browers runs hbo go without a hitch, stock browers couldn't without stuttering. Hardware xcelleration is not that far off in the distance if you can wait. Running vegan ginger stable and it has been awesome.
Thanks for the advice without flames This is exactly the feedback I was looking for. I especially didn't know CM was making soooo much progress. I'm going to stick around, but if it weren't for XDA this thing would be going back
I mostly rip movies and watch youtube videos which has greatly improved since switching to Vegan Froyo. I live there for a while.

I've been lucky enough to snag a Viewpad 10e from Argos in the UK... Struggling to find any forums specifically for this pad though.
In a nutshell, its a great piece of hardware for £200 slightly let down by stuttery software. Very iPad like but with Android gingerbread.
Anyone else out there have any experience with this tab yet? Anyone know of any plans for it to get it's own forum/development community?
Cheers.

Dude, return the tablet right now. Boycott viewsonic!
Its been over 24hrs with new toy now. Will be posting a review soon. I honestly like the look and feel so much that I'm selling my Galaxy Tab 10. I'll have some money left over as well cause the Viewpad is so cheaply priced. All that extra processor power is not needed for me, I basically use the tab for web browsing, a few notes, check the weather and the kids play angry birds! This pad is definitely suited to the job.

Ditto. For that price, you are better to go with a much wider support device like the Kindle Fire or Nook Color. Don't expect your new toy to get any substantial update to improve it beyond what it is now. The gTablet community has already been bitten by Viewsonic false promises. Your device will most likely had the same fate.
PS: a no name brand tablet from China can do all you want at an even lower price. Did you choose Viewsonic for the peace of mind of a name brand? Viewsonic don't make their own tablet. They outsource the manufacturing, the software and the support. All they really interest in is take your money.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Honestly, I was really impressed by the response I had recently from their support dept. I really like the device and I have been through a few to say the least. Seems like it could be quite hackable and I may just use it to learn some new programming skills myself! (If I can drum up some support). In my experience, every forum/thread has loads of people frustrated by lack of support from the manufacturers/resllers but for me, the point of these forums is finding help... Ill keep my fingers crossed that the OEM is discovered soon and after that finding some hacks should get easier.
Third warning about Viewsonic, their products suffer longevity shortfalls. I am now the 3rd person telling you they have the consumer integrity of a wombat. Don't hold your breath waiting for anyone to pick it up and think it will be differently. So many people got burned via the g tablet and it's abhorrent lack of updates from the manufacturer (which when it comes to things like drivers etc for future OS upgrades becomes a critical part of the equation) not many people who have been around the android block are going to make another purchase from Viewsonic so you could very well be alone for the foreseeable future in this purchase. I don't even like having a Viewsonic monitor on my desk at work anymore. Again, take what you are hearing at face value, Viewsonic + android = meh. I enjoyed my g tablet when i purchased it and it does almost all that I need but I hoped for more and have gotten less. Keep it if you like, but 6 months from now when you are looking at another tablet you are going to be hard pressed to find anyone to buy your Viewsonic. The poor reputation flags are there already.
Keep in mind, Viewsonic is the same company that came to XDA saying they wanted feedback and input from this community about the g tablet. That was spring of this year and not a single thing has changed. They did that one firmware update in April and since then it has been nothing but pushed changes that then get pulled back.
Keep it if you are happy with it, I just wouldn't expect anything in terms of a large community ever coming of one of their devices.
It's been almost a year since they promised they'd release an update. Every time I've asked them about update, the only reply I've gotten is "we're working on it." I dare you to find any report of a different response than that.
Viewsonic needs to go back to producing nothing but display monitors and projectors. This company is not ready yet to play with the big boys in the computing market.
US vs UK - not exactly the same...
The G-Tablet was a US only product?!
The Viewpad 10e is only in the UK so far..... 9.7" IPS panel for £199, 9mm thick looks good value to me if your needs are not too demanding
Cant get my 10e to play videos from iplayer, any idea as to why not?

Works on live streaming for me from the app but not the others, think it could be to do with the Flash player version, read recently about other tablet users having issues with bandwidth / setting local storage to 0...

BBC iPlayer 1.04 apk from the web. It still is only working for me with live TV, Flash version 10.3, Flash 11.0 wasn't working...
Will play around with the different versions in the office today
Ok so I now have the Viewpad 10e working with BBC iPlayer.
I used BBC iPlayer 1.0.4 & Flash 10.3.185.25
I put these into a zip file on 4shared, not sure if I am allowed to share the link or not..
Hello
I'm very keen on the Viewpad 10e myself. Has anyone tried out the multimedia side of it? it would be great t be able to play 1080p movies, etc. By the sounds of the 3D stuff that comes with it, it should be a decent GPU in it, would be nice to know how it does.
Custom ROM
Does anyone know how to install a custom ROM on the device?
Hi all
I'm thinking of getting one of these too. But I'm a bit concerened about the 'dated' SC A8 CPU and the dated OS?
Some of the things I will want to do on this is video calling using Skype (yes, I know there are other alternatives, but it has to be Skype) and playing DivX/Xvid movies and some .MKV movies. Could anyone tell me if it will be good enough? I am quite impressed by the dimensions and the screen, but if the specs can't keep up then I'm thinking of a cheap and chunky Tegra 2 tablet like the POV which is actually £10 cheaper and I'll put a custom ViewComb 3.2 ROM on it...
Any suggestions/opinions?
Does anyone know how to root the device?
Just got one for my daughter.
First impressions : well-made bit of kit with a great IPS screen. worth it for the hardware, I would say.
Moon reader pro is great on it, as is perfect viewer for comics and pdf's.
Can't get the video calling working for some reason. Anyone had any joy with this ?
Have tried Tango and Fring. In both cases, the FFC doesn't seem to switch on. You can see the the other person on it, but they can't see you.
Also, with Tango, the mic is switched off, and can't be switched back on.
Some sort of firmware shenanigans going on here. Had a quick chat with Viewsonic customer support just now, who will email me back.
Bit concerned by the negative comments on this thread !
Wanted the archos 101 as HMV were doing it for £129 , but just missed the boat, and then this came to my attention in Argos. Hope I haven't landed a dud !
Well, so far, have managed to get all her bits on it. Their version of market is a bit limited, but there is enough to get you started. Go launcher was a must, after having it on my Galaxy S2 phone, and it seems to cope ok. Formatted some of her films as mp4's and the shipped 'vortex player' handles them well.
Video calling would have been icing on the cake really.
Oh yeah, and whatsapp functionality, but there are ways around that I am looking into now.
Overall so far - promising.
Root and custom rom's would really maximise this thing's potential.
Oh yeah, and won't talk to my macbook pro over bluetooth- first device ever to do that.
hello to all apologize if posting this in the wrong place, and sorry for my english google translator.
I am very close to buying a touchpad but I'm unsure whether to buy it or kindlefire, even if you think a player no longer manufactured there will still be many hacks, and developing roms for it?
ICS will be possible on the touchpad, there are many people developing for it?
I thank all
Well this can do all a kindle but kindle can't do all this can. While we have some issues with drivers, over time it will be fixed and yes, will have ics. Kindle can't have WEBOS now...

The kindle is garbage. If you want to see the wonders of the Touchpad, check out my videos:

The Touchpad is definitely better hardware wise. You are getting a 9.7" screen (same size as the ipad) instead of only a 7" one. You also get a full GB of RAM on the Touchpad instead of only 512MB. My phone has the same CPU and GPU that the Kindle Fire does and on GTA 3 there is some lagging. On my Touchpad with CM7 the game is smooth.
ok thank you all, I'm convinced to buy the touchpad, but only one question to those who already have it, all games and applications to run on android Cyanogen mod? there are still some compatibility issues.
And it is possible for easy installation of the dual bot WEB OS and android I liked the interface of the Web OS, did not want to be without him, and he accepts some sort of memory card? these are still my doubts

The only way to install android is dual boot with webOS. You cannot remove webOS.
The TouchPad has no expansion slot. You can use a USB flash drive with a janky set up using a USB on the go adapter, USB y splitter, and USB power source. So, basically you are stuck with what ever version you get, 16gb or 32gb.
I greatly prefer webOS, so I don't spend much time in android ... Until there is a tablet version of android available. I have not had any compatibility issues with the few apps I have installed.

as long as your fairly tech savvy, i would go with the TP. The only thing that would worry me if i were you, is the tutorials are all written in english so that may make things tougher. o ya, and good luck finding one unless your looking for a used (and maybe overpriced) touchpad.

I have read and understood the tutorials I've done some installations of Cyanogen on other devices, then I am completely noob, and my reading of good English and have a greater problem with writing.
I'm buying it right now, here I pay 800 reais to 425 dolares worth in the 32GB version, I know it is expensive compared to prices here in Brazil over U.S. prices are still absurd tablets.

Couldn't agree with you more. I own two regular e-Ink Kindles.
They are very enjoyable to use for what they're designed for: reading
books.
Out of curiosity, I pre-ordered the Kindle Fire. When it arrived, I was
very hopeful. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a piece of *******(sorry)
It's just not ready for prime time.
I currently have XRON's Android on my Touchpad and I am extremely
happy with it. (until ICS comes along, of course )
Read Leo's thread it has all you need to know. I never flashed a Rom before and have been using his for a month with great results. Just follow the instructions.

there is some evolution in Cyanogen 9 for the touchpad?
I bought a Nextway Fast 9 X from spemall.com as shown here:
http://www.spemall.com/Nextway-F9X-...PS-Screen-2G-Ram-1-5GHz-4K-Video-Black_g.html
After fully charging the tablet I started using it and it froze. I then restarted it and its froze a total of 5 times. Its had errors with the launcher, when opening the apps tab all the images would look like the background but pixelated.
Here is a link to the pictures i took: http://s1232.beta.photobucket.com/user/xstingstreetx/library/Defective
Next, I was able to disable some things for the tablet to run properly without crashing. However, this thing score terrible on benchmarks and is VERY slow moving. The processor is actually 1.08Ghz not 1.5.
I was able to root it thanks to Bin4ry see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Video by Bin4ry see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=7EpkrCq1gfM
I was able to overclock on the stock kernel and such to 1.152 stable.
I was hoping someone could help to develop ROMs, Kernels, etc to make this thing work better.
Any and all ideas or feedback is appreciated.
Things that I didnt notice when I bought it is: I dont believe there is bluetooth or GPS
Also the GPS and blutooth either does not exist or possibly the software in the tablet just doesn't work with it.

so you bought a non-brand cheap chinese tablet and now you want someone to develop a ROM for it ?
edit: wait. that is not that cheap. why on earth would you buy a non-brand tablet with a budget at 200$?

Well no other tablet has competitive specs that I found. However I didnt know this tablet wasn't a 1.5 Ghz quad core as listed on the sellers site.

if something sounds to good to be true. it probaly is..
sad to say the chances of someone making a ROM for non-brand products is pretty slim, since most ROM are created on the basis that a device is widely bought and used. Of non-brand phone and tablets there are such a variety that developing for them makes no sense.
Get your money back if you can, and get a branded device. For 200$ you can get a Nexus 7.
if you want the same size and format of the one you got, look around for what samsung, acer, asus, hell even what Point Of View have to offer..
Sorry, but you won't like it -
The main disadvantage of buying a no-brand device is although it may work better the known brands, in case of a fault (software or hardware), you're on your own.... Not many users have flashed/fixed/used this device. So if you brick it, get a bootloop or find a bug, not many can help you.
Not speaking about the variety of ROMs...
I've been there.... I've bought a no-brand phone and after a year it's main PCB failed. I couldn't find a replacement part and had to throw the device away.
Anyway.....
Use the device, enjoy and don't brick it

If the moderators will give me permission, I can give you a link to where there are 4 custom ROMs for this tablet. I have installed the BETA4 and it better utilizes the Retina Display (unless you have bad eyes, and there is one geared for that one as the defective one you are using does). I honestly don't know if your problem can be helped with software, but it might... I can also give you a link to the newest stock ROM and a Windows app to install it. I would rather get permission first to post 2 direct links... one is to Arctablet (and you can do a Google or DuckDuckGo search and find it by the way) and the other one is to a tablet distributor who was good enough to create download links and instructions on how to use the hokey Chinese installer. The question is though, is your problem hardware or a botched ROM?
It does not have Bluetooth or GPS. My Archos outdoes it in that way, but it is a true quad-core retina display and mine works very nicely... nicer now that I have the better use of the resolution available. Its wildly vivid. I honestly can find no real issues other than a few I had from not wiping the thing before I flashed it (oddly it suggested I not do so... which caused me grief w/Google Play eventually). It comes rooted, and if you have one of those that are like partly-rooted or whatever some call it, do a factory reset and it will come back fully rooted. The ROMs of course are all rooted. I have a cheap 10.2", which honestly if I had not had something else would have given me ulcers, but hey... I only paid $14 for it from Quibids (including bid prices), so I can't complain. This one cost me around $150 with a few extras, so a little grief I can handle. But so far... those are interesting words... so far, it is actually very impressive. My daughter has a boyfriend who is an Apple fanatic, and he's kind of fixated on it from certain similarities to what he is coveting these days.
I have it going at 1.2ghz (quad-core), although I have gotten it up to just under the 1.5ghz it claims (1440). It will do it, but I wouldn't bet on its stability. It comes at 1.0 preset from manufacturer, but is easily changed with the cpu app of your choice. I use Setcpu... works for me. It has 2gb ram... can't complain.
I read some arguments on the cameras, but I don't see it... I took some pics tonight of my daughter on her way to a costume party... they are the best thing I have this side of my Kodak. I'm sure it takes better video than the Kodak though. Anyway... its responsive, sharp, and does what I want. You have to buy a Bluetooth dongle for next to nothing to have Bluetooth though for some bizarre reason it shows its there. The one page that I mentioned gives advice along with pics on how to do some interesting mods to it. It is capable of more than they shipped it with. I am sorry that you are having troubles with yours... I don't know if you still have yours or not. I've only had this a few weeks. If you are interested, let me know... and if the moderators allow it, I will post links.
I hate that you have had such grief with yours. If I can help, I am willing.
