Android 2.3.5 Query - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was reading on Endgadget that the Nexus S 4G is to receive an Android 2.3.5 update that will include amongst other things, a WiMAX performance improvement.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/22/sprint-readies-nexus-s-4g-update-with-improved-wimax-performance/
I realise that firmware 2.3.4 has just started to appear for the Samsung Galaxy S 2 but would anyone happen to know what Android 2.3.5 brings, what new features, if any?

Google begins Android 4.0.4 Rollout

Just today, Google announced that it was rolling out Android 4.0.4 to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) for download, with build IMM76D. The note at that point by JBQ was that the timeline for ROM push for the final build was unknown.
In a tweet and Google+ post, Google has now noted that Android 4.0.4 images are beginning to push out for the GSM/UMTS Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S, and Xoom WiFi. Absent are the CDMA/WiMAX Nexus S on Sprint and the CDMA/LTE Galaxy Nexus on Verizon, both of which are likely waiting on carrier approval. The update includes bugfixes, stability improvements, faster camera launch (which we've noticed in leaked 4.0.4 builds), and better performance in some areas.
We’ve started rolling out Android 4.0.4, Ice Cream Sandwich, to UMTS/GSM Nexus S, Xoom Wi-Fi, and HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus devices. #android

We're anxiously waiting for our own GSM/UMTS Galaxy Nexus to get the push so we can test out the final build and see what all has changed. Hopefully Google also updates the factory images for Galaxy Nexus pages for those of us who are impatient.

Probably! They can't keep giving all updates to their old phones (even though it has what it needs to handle it). If they did, what's the meaning of a flagship phone? Nobody would even care updating their phones! And BTW, Samsung has the best customer support. No other OEMs give so many updates for their old devices.!

Question RE: Android 4.0.4 (stock)

I just received a warranty replacement for my Galaxy Note ...
This new version has Android 4.0.4 on it whereas my previous note had an older version of Android (don't know the version number but the interface differences are rather obvious).
From what I've read, this 4.0.4 version is dubbed "Ice Cream Sandwich?" ...
And what I'm wondering is if this newer version is supposed to have improved battery usage as, my battery seems to run significantly more efficiently on this new OS than did my previous one (I'm using the same battery since I had to switch it to this new phone).
Otherwise, what are any other improvements in this stock 4.0.4 version of Android, if any? Any drawbacks or anything else to be aware of?
Thanks in advance,
.joel

There's quite a difference between the two. also for future reference, questions go in Q&A, and the search button is your friend.

Cyanogenmod 10.1.0 Comes to Galaxy Ace

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is already out on the Galaxy Nexus, but other phone are still waiting for manufacturers to do the work and update their handsets to the newest version of Android. What’s worse is that some handset will never officially get updated to Jelly Bean.
If you want to change that, you should be on XDA Developers where all the development happens and now the Samsung Galaxy Ace and Gio, some of the most affordable low-end Androids, got the CyanogenMod 10 ports.
CyanogenMod 10 is the Jelly Bean based version of the custom ROM. If you want to flash it, just check out the links below where you’ll find all the detailed information you need.
Interestingly, the Ace and Gio were never included in Samsung’s plans for the update to even ICS as they run on a pretty dated ARMv6 processors. Now, a very important disclaimer is that those ports are not yet final - they are alpha versions that are still not ready for prime time. You can get on and help the developer and also get a taste of what’s to come with them though.
What's the point of this? Posting an ad for XDA forums on XDA forums kinda defeats the purpose, no?

Big update / re-write of the XDA SGS3 FAQ

Do you own a Samsung Galaxy S3? Maybe you're not a fan of Samsung's custom Android environment - TouchWiz - or maybe you would like to upgrade to a newer version of Android than Samsung have provided for the S3?
I have re-written and extended the XDA SGS3 FAQ to more comprehensively cover what you need to know and how to avoid or overcome the potential pitfalls relating to installing different versions of Android on the phone that made Samsung a major player in the smartphone wars.
I upgraded my S3 from TouchWiz Android 4.1 to CyanogenMod 11 (which is based upon Android 4.4.4) four months ago. Due to the process not being documented properly in one place I couldn't make calls for a week or two after upgrading but I'm glad I did as CyanogenMod is notably faster, more current and has less issues than TouchWiz. I also prefer to run open source operating systems such as CM as I can trust them more. Now I know that if my phone had been running TouchWiz Android 4.3 before upgrading it would've been a quick and painless process but I was caught out by a couple of obscure snags (relating to CSC and modem firmware) which I've now clearly documented in an easy to find place in an effort to spare other S3 owners days or weeks of research and experimentation should their upgrade not go smoothly first time.
